Nine-year-old Japanese drum prodigy Yoyoka Soma returned to The Ellen Degeneres Show Tuesday where she received a surprise from one of her idols, Dave Grohl, reported Jon Blistein from Rolling Stone.
Soma, who’s completely self-taught, became a viral sensation last year with a remarkable cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Good Times Bad Times.” She continued to post videos online, performing inch-perfect renditions of tracks by the Police, Peter Gabriel and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. In February, she performed Queen’s “Stone Cold Crazy” on Ellen, while around the same time she uploaded a rendition of the Foo Fighters’ “The Pretender.”
Us Symphonic Death Metallers OV LUSTRA have unleashed a lyric video for a new song “Tempestas”, watch it below.
OV LUSTRA are getting ready for the arrival of their new EP Tempestas, which is scheduled to arrive on June 7th via Black Lion Records. The album consists of four new songs as well as orchestral versions and a few reissued tracks. Earlier last year, the group released their self-titled debut album, and now the band will continue the story.
The album feat: Guest Vocal Appearance by Michael Alvarez (Flub) Orchestration by Francesco Ferrini (Fleshgod Apocalypse), available as Pre Order CD Digipak/Digital.
The band commented:
“We are proud to give you our newest single, the title track off our new record, Tempestas. This song holds a very special place in our hearts as we put our beloved character through his final trial and tribulation. He must give himself to the great maelstrom in order to return to his home and continue his journey in search of answers. There is no guarantee that he will survive. Take the plunge with us, into The Storm.”
SUPERSONIC BLUES MACHINE are set to release a new album ‘Road Chronicles’ on July 12th via Provogue/Mascot Label Group!
Watch the lyric video for “Running Whiskey” here:
‘Road Chronicles’ is their first live album, following the release of two acclaimed records, ‘West of Flushing, South of Frisco’ (2016), ‘Californisoul’ (2017) and it follows them on their first European headline tour and was recorded during their show in Brugnera, Italy on 20th July 2018, capturing the band in a triumphant and joyous mood.
The show was the final one of a 10 date tour that started at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, London and took them through Switzerland, Poland, The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Spain and finally bassist Fabrizio Grossi’s native Italy. The legendary Billy F. Gibbons joined the band throughout the tour, putting in the stunning performances that you would expect from such an icon. It was the first tour to feature fast-rising UK blues-rocker Kris Barras on lead vocals and guitar, taking over from Lance Lopez.
“The funny thing is,” remembers Grossi, “that we were not planning to record a live record, the recordings we were capturing were just for me to study and evaluate at the end of the tour, but as soon as were done with the last show in Brugnera, the promoter was celebrating with us and asked me “do you have a flash drive with you so I can give you tonight’s recordings? That’s when I realized they recorded all the tracks isolated, and the curiosity started creeping in. Billy Gibbons was with me when I first opened up the tracks. I couldn’t stop smiling.”
As there weren’t any plans to record the show at the time, they approached it like any other and things just fell into place. It just felt perfect; the weather, the setlist, the band were tight and then there was the crowd. “The cheers, noises and crazy antics people do when they come to see us, it’s extremely humbling and energizing” explains Grossi.
The set list weaved through the two Supersonic albums – ‘West of Flushing’s….’ (‘Remedy,’ ‘Whatchagonnado’ and ‘Running Whiskey’) and ‘Californisoul,’ (‘I Am Done Missing You’, ‘Elevate’ and ‘Broken Heart’) as well as some ZZ Top classics and surprises thrown in. “The beauty of this band is that we always bring around or have guests joining us on stage, we get used to hearing our music taking the most unexpected turns and shapes every night,” he says.“As soon as the intro tape stops, we kind of unleash the Kraken…..the Soul Kraken,” he laughs. DrummerKenny Aronoff, Barras and Grossi are the faces and the core of the band with The Reverend Gibbons, and the party is rounded off with Alex Alessandroni Jr. on keyboards, Serge Simic on guitar and Andrea and Francis Benitez Grossi on background vocals.
With a prolific career as a producer, mixer and bass player Grossi has worked with some of the finest musicians around today pulling into an array of eclectic styles, from Steve Vai to Tina Arena,Nina Hagen to Alice Cooper as well as Glenn Hughes, Dave Navarro, George Clinton, Joe Bonamassa, Leslie West, Zakk Wylde, Ice T, Slash and Paul Stanley to name a few. New York native but Indiana-raised Aronoff brought with him the experience of working with a huge collection of artists such as John Mellencamp, Smashing Pumpkins, Meat Loaf, Brandon Flowers, John Fogerty, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Joe Cocker amongst a host of others.
An incredible list of collaborators gives the band added warmth and propels it on to another level; Billy F. Gibbons, Walter Trout, Warren Haynes, Robben Ford, Eric Gales, Joe Louis Walker, Steve Lukather, Chris Duarte all have joined the band on record and/or live, with them all having a deep and personal connection to Grossi and Aronoff.
“We could have done records and shows that was jam packed of famously random guests, but we didn’t want to do that. That’s not the idea.” He elaborates, “They’re not just guests, those guys are part of our family and just happened to show up on that song, these guys will always be part of our life, they are so important to the sound of Supersonic Blues Machine.”

“It is often said that the album is dead. We don’t believe this is true” – Justin, Michael, Dean, Marshall and Ceri
Following this approach, earMUSIC is proud to announce the release of NEW MODEL ARMY‘s new studio album “From Here” on August 23rd, 2019.
In October 1980 three musicians took to the stage in their hometown of Bradford to play a gig under the name New Model Army. Led by frontman and songwriter Justin Sullivan, this was the start of a remarkable journey which, almost 40 years on, has seen New Model Army develop a fervent worldwide fanbase and reach multiple milestones of both creative and commercial success.
Members have changed over the years and musical styles have evolved but at the heart of the band Justin has remained, along with a distinct and sincere belief in the power of music to inspire and effect change on a personal and political scale, both locally and globally. With the band’s hugely acclaimed albums Between Dog And Wolf (2013) and Winter (2016) bringing renewed critical appreciation, chart success and an ever-growing audience of new fans to join the legion of faithful devotees, New Model Army return in 2019 with one of the finest records of their career.
“From Here” was recorded earlier this year on the tiny Norwegian island of Giske at the beautiful Ocean Sound Recordings studio and reflects the spectacular isolation of that environment yet has profound messages for the world we all live in and the times we are experiencing.
“We all have different lives and different tastes in almost everything, including music”, say the band. “One thing we have in common is the love of bleak, open, cold, rugged landscapes – water, snow, rock. So this was the perfect place for us to work on something collectively – at all times while we were working, we could look up and see the sky, the sea and melting snow on the mountains, all in a constant state of change. So this album has a feel that is different to our other albums, but it still contains all the elements that characterise our peculiarly unidentifiable music – perhaps even more than ever. And “From Here” was an obvious title. The record belongs to a very special place and a particular time – what is happening in the world, where we are as a band and where we are as people.”
The album will be released on August 23rd via earMUSIC, ahead of a 38-date UK & European tour later this year.
A Strictly Limited 2LP Splattered Vinyl-Edition, a Limited 7” Vinyl Single and various bundles will be available via an exclusive direct to consumer web shop.

We recently had the pleasure to chat with the Father of Death Metal, Jeff Becerra from POSSESSED. In this extensive interview we discussed in depth their newest studio release “Revelations of Oblivion”, including how the current line-up of the band came together, the creative process of the record and Jeff’s sources of inspiration. We also covered the upcoming world tour and his favorite gig after their comeback. Finally, we talked about the current state of the Metal scene in Europe and the US as well as the present and future of Death Metal. Welcome to listen to the interview on YouTube.
Nobody can cheat death. And nobody can cheat at death metal either. Flying the flag for balls-out and murderous death metal since 2014, ENTOMBED A.D. are poised to return with one of 2019’s most devastating, deathly statements. Their new album will be entitled “Bowels Of Earth” and will be released on August 30th, on Century Media Records!
“Bowels Of Earth” represents a huge leap forward for these gnarly veterans. Faster, tighter and more viscerally crushing than anything they have produced before.
“We have our Brazilian friend, Guilherme, coming into the band on guitar and” laughs LG. “We’ve been getting energy from that. This recording was a lot more focused and straightforward. We kept things simple, but still with thought behind everything. And there was absolutely no stress!”
Keep your eyes peeled for more info on “Bowels of Earth”!
