THE NEW DEATH CULT play unapologetic alternative rock infused by melodic guitars and grunge references.
Their brilliant songwriting, fused with a refreshing outspokenness on social and environmental issues, have made them one of the hottest new bands coming out of Norway.
Their new single Superglue is no exception.
The song is a comment on the paradox of social media, and how it creates a discord between impossible aspirations and our own reality.

Vocalist and songwriter Jon Vegard Naess states:
“Superglue is one of those simple, yet powerful ideas that we immediately connected with whilst creating material for the upcoming album. It soon became a staple in the setlist and it is just a really fun song to perform live!”
Bassist Vegard Liverød ads; “You’re never going to get this riff out of your head!”
A full-length album is on the horizon, set to release in 2023.
Dubbed a brilliant cross-over between Queens of the Stone Age, Biffy Clyro and Blur – THE NEW DEATH CULT drives alternative rock in a forward direction mixing the eclectic 90’s vibe with modern alterntive rock. Their unique sound earned their 2019 debut praise in The Guardian, describing them as “smoky, soulful sweetness”.
After the release of their critically acclaimed debut album, the band toured with bands like Wheel and Djerv, and made several festival appearances, before heading to the studio to record their upcoming album.
Aesthetically, THE NEW DEATH CULT explores the melting point between heavy rock and lyrics inspired by love for humanity and planet earth, drawing from the same well as Rage Against the Machine and Muse. The resulting sound stands out as no-frills organic and authentic yet fresh and modern in the vast ocean of contemporary rock music.
