WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM Return with New EP “Crypt of Ancestral Knowledge”

American Black Metal Pioneers WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM make a triumphant return with their latest EP: “Crypt of Ancestral Knowledge”.

The EP was officially released on September 29th and comprises four brand-new tracks that span the vast spectrum of WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM’s cinematic black metal and dark acoustic folk influences. Additionally, it includes two atmospheric industrial tracks that boldly propel the band into even darker sonic territories.

The EP kicks off with a blistering slab of Symphonic Black Metal in the form of “Beholden to Clan.” Guitarist Kody Keyworth shares his thoughts on this EP opener, stating:

“Journeying high atop a sacred mountain, the song recalls the importance of the sacrificed king’s cycle of rebirth through ancestral hallucinogenic rites of passage. It’s a wild trip. Hail Othila!”

Following this intense introduction is “Twin Mouthed Spring”, a new track that features vocals and acoustic guitar performed by founding WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM drummer Cedar Serpent. Cedar Serpent, who recently returned to the live stage after a years-long hiatus from live performance, remarks:

“This song travels to a deep wellspring of passion and creativity. Themes from Celtic Mythology are pulled apart and remade.”

The song is already available on all digital platforms aswell as the official video for “Twin Mouthed Spring”. Directed and produced by the band themselves, the video takes viewers on a mystical journey away from the lush meadow and into the mirrored depths of the underworld. It’s a spellbinding experience, reflecting themes of lunar madness and the emergence of newfound power. You can watch the video below.

The EP’s B-side offers a different side of the enigmatic band. “Initiates of the White Hart”, an Atmospheric Industrial interpretation of “Spirit of Lightning”, delves into deeper, dark and psychedelic waters. Meanwhile, “Crown of Stone”, a ritual dark ambient piece, thematically connects to “Mountain Magic”, the lead track from the band’s 2021 album “Primordial Arcana.”
