Vermont-based metalcore powerhouse Saving Vice has officially released their highly anticipated new single, “The Shadow”, now available worldwide via Arson Theory. Known for their crushing heaviness blended with cinematic atmosphere, the band delivers a track that is heavy, yet melodic, dynamic, and undeniably raw, solidifying their position at the forefront of modern metalcore.
“The Shadow” serves as a powerful continuation of the band’s evolving narrative. Drawing inspiration from the thematic depth of their previous work, the new single bridges past and present. As the band explains, the song is a callback to their genre roots, pulling together the themes of the last album and singles to conclude a story that began with “Good Days, Dead Eyes” proving that all their music is intricately connected.
Lyrically, “The Shadow” dives into the complexities of human nature and the necessity of balance. It explores the idea of abandoning a binary view of good versus bad, and, instead, embracing the space and nuance in between
“Everything needs balance and if you are too pure you lose to the world and if you are too hateful or angry you lose to yourself,” the band states. “True power and self-actualization is accepting both sides.”
“When I first started writing this song, I knew I wanted to scratch every itch a listener would want – the crazy breakdown, the epic chorus, the emotional bridge,” explained guitarist and producer, Robbie Litchfield. “In that sense, The Shadow was pretty reminiscent of our older stuff. But, as always, I’m pushing myself as a producer to do something new and exciting and progressive and I’m very happy with how this came out.”

ABOUT SAVING VICE
Saving Vice are an independent metalcore band from Vermont who have carved their own path since their formation in 2017. Known for their high-energy live performances and fiercely DIY ethic, the band quickly rose through the New England metal scene before expanding nationally with two full U.S. headlining tours, major festival appearances, and support slots alongside some of the genre’s most respected acts. Their sound bridges nostalgia and modernity – fusing the emotional intensity of late-2000s metalcore with contemporary heaviness and precision. Lyrically, they tackle real-world struggles such as addiction, loss, and heartbreak, crafting songs that are as emotionally charged as they are sonically brutal. Beautifully melodic yet unapologetically dark, Saving Vice continue to redefine what it means to be an independent band in the modern heavy music landscape.
