International heavy metal band VEIL OF THE SERPENT has announced that the release of its highly anticipated second album, Born To Burn, has been postponed until further notice.
The album had previously been delayed, but recent political developments affecting vocalist JD Stafford, who currently resides in Japan, have now brought work on the record to a halt.
The band released the following statement:
“Brothers and Sisters, We want to give you an honest update regarding our new album Born To Burn. As many of you know, the album was already delayed once. Unfortunately, we have to announce that its release will be postponed again until further notice. The reason is the situation our vocalist, JD Stafford, is currently facing in Japan. Ongoing political developments and growing uncertainty surrounding the future of foreign residents have forced him to focus on making major decisions about his future and personal safety. As a result, the work on Born To Burn could not be completed as planned. We stand behind JD and fully support him during this difficult transition. The album is not canceled, and we remain committed to finishing and releasing it as soon as circumstances allow. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support. The following message comes directly from JD.
“Hi, this is JD from VEIL OF THE SERPENT. If you listened to our first album Gallery Of Sin, it’s clear that autocracies and dictatorships are heavily referenced and criticized in the album’s lyrics. Unfortunately, the country that I immigrated to and planned to be my forever home has shifted so quickly towards authoritarianism since October 2025, that I must make an exit plan as soon as possible. Whether it’s plans to re-write the constitution for the first time to give the Prime Minister more power and re-militarize, make scapegoats of all foreign residents and visitors, or create a new centralized intelligence agency for spying on all residents directly controlled by the Prime Minister herself, the writing is on the wall that I should leave. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck. Thank you for your understanding during this difficult transition. While fans will need to wait longer for the complete album, the singles released so far continue to offer a powerful preview of what Born To Burn has in store. Tracks such as “Anthem Of Terror“, the title track “Born To Burn“, “Black Sun” and “We Are The Stars” showcase the album’s range, intensity and themes while giving listeners a taste of what is still to come once the record can be completed.
