Italian progressive folk-rock band Corde Oblique premieres new single and video “Senza Vento”, a haunting meditation on lost idealism, generational change and what can still be carried from one generation to the next.
The song is taken from Corde Oblique’s forthcoming studio album, All’ombra dei fanciulli in fiore, due on 27 November 2026 via Dark Vinyl Records.
Recorded at Splash Studio in Naples, the album was mastered at Abbey Road Studios in London by Alex Wharton (The Beatles, Radiohead, The Chemical Brothers).
Led by composer, guitarist and art historian Riccardo Prencipe, “Senza Vento” began as a genuine exchange between generations. Prencipe invited acclaimed Italian singer songwriter Andrea Chimenti to perform on a song shaped by the contrast between the idealism he associates with earlier decades and the disillusionment he sees among younger people today.
Chimenti was the singer of Italian rock group Moda from 1983 to 1989, before beginning his solo career in 1990. His work has included collaborations with David Sylvian, Mick Ronson, Steve Jansen and David Jackson of Van der Graaf Generator.
Prencipe says:
“Working with Andrea was important to me because it became a genuine exchange between generations. I’ve always tried to learn from artists who came before me, and I hope younger listeners might find something in that exchange that feels different from what surrounds them now.”
The title “Senza Vento”, meaning “Without Wind”, captures a sense of lost momentum, enthusiasm and idealistic drive. “The absence of wind is an absence of push and momentum,” explains Prencipe. “The loss of enthusiasm, idealism and direction that I see affecting some younger people today inspired the song, and pushed me to translate that sense of emptiness into music.”

But the song does not remain in that emptiness. Its lyrics turn towards art, family, memory and love, alongside references to psychology and visual culture. These include Freud’s fort da observation and imagery inspired by the Crypt of Anagni.
The same concerns with memory, family and inheritance run through the forthcoming new album, All’ombra dei fanciulli in fiore. Written and produced by Prencipe, the upcoming LP moves through acoustic neofolk, post rock, post metal and classical guitar, with a family story connecting Prencipe’s father, Prencipe himself and his daughter.
That family history also enters the album visually. Previously unseen analogue photographs taken by Prencipe’s father, Raffaele, around Pozzuoli and the Campi Flegrei during the 1980s form part of the artwork, bringing the landscape of Prencipe’s childhood into the record itself.
All’ombra dei fanciulli in fiore will be released via Dark Vinyl Records on 27 November 2026.
