Dresden, Germany-based death metal brutes Saprobiontic shares “Apex Predators,” the second single from their third album, Of Fire and Bloodshed, scheduled for October 23 on CD, vinyl, and digital formats via Black Lion Records.
“This song feeds from old-school-oriented riffs combined with mid-tempo blast beats and tons of groove,” says Chris (vocals, guitars). “A seed of evil is sown and ferocity and anger are induced. Formed in 2012, Dresden-based Saprobiontic has undergone several lineup changes throughout the years, with founder Chris remaining the band’s only continuous member. With two critically acclaimed full-lengths under their belt, the German brutal death metallers have appeared at numerous festivals while sharing stages with the likes of Massacre (US), Cryptopsy, Jungle Rot, and Disgorge (US).
Recordings for the new album, Of Fire and Bloodshed, began in April 2025 at Deep Deep Pressure Studios in Austria, with Flo Musil (Agrypnie, Theotoxin) handling the drums and Lukas Haidinger (Profanity, Distaste) serving as sound engineer and producer.
Built on crushing riffs, relentless aggression, and a dark, uncompromising atmosphere, Of Fire and Bloodshed delivers a fierce blend of old-school death metal brutality and modern intensity. Expect ultra-tight drumming packed with furious blast beats, a menacing guitar tone, rumbling bass, plenty of groove, and guttural vocals throughout. The album combines furious, accentuated riffs with body-mutilating shifts, drawing influence from the likes of Suffocation and Cannibal Corpse.
Following the recordings, and with forthcoming shows in mind, the Saprobiontic completed their lineup by recruiting Loppi (Pikodeath) as their new lead vocalist later that year. Loppi also appears as a guest vocalist on the track “Shepherd of Doom.”
