A journey through visceral impact, technology, introspection, and dissent: humanity at the center of a circle that closes in the light.
Wanikiya Record/Promotion is proud to announce the official release of “Nel Mio Cerchio,” the debut album by Calliope, arriving on November 5, 2026.
This debut is not simply the result of a desire to bring together a collection of songs, but rather the need to build a genuine sonic manifesto: a work capable of blending the power of modern rock and metal with the depth of the Italian language, the organic impact of real instruments with the possibilities offered by new technologies, and, above all, the collective dimension with the more intimate and personal side of the human experience.
“Nel Mio Cerchio” is an album that invites listeners to step inside, look within, question the world around them, and ultimately rediscover a sense of balance.

A CIRCLE THAT TELLS THE STORY OF HUMANITY
From the very first listen, “Nel Mio Cerchio” reveals a clearly defined sonic identity.
The rhythm section is tight and rock-solid, the guitars are saturated, aggressive, and razor-sharp, with deep roots in the underground rock and metal scene, while the Italian-language vocals unfold through broad, open, and expressive melodic lines.
This contrast is one of Calliope’s defining characteristics: the power of the sonic wall does not overwhelm the vocals but brings them to the forefront.
The modern production and the thoughtful use of technology do not turn the record into a cold or artificial product. On the contrary, the two musicians use technological tools as catalysts for the creative process while preserving one fundamental element: the human touch.
Every final guitar and bass part is physically re-recorded in the studio, giving the album dynamics, warmth, and impact.
The result is a contemporary, precise, and powerful sound that remains organic and alive.
TWO JOURNEYS, ONE DIRECTION
Behind Calliope are Gennaro Sorrentino and Francesco Bargagni, two Tuscan musicians and producers united by a twenty-year personal and professional relationship.
Gennaro Sorrentino’s musical journey began in the 1990s. Active in the underground scene from 1993 to 2007, he was part of a project that released three self-produced demos before stepping away from music for several years.
His return to songwriting came through experimentation with new technologies and artificial intelligence applications, initially explored as a way to investigate the new possibilities emerging within the digital music market.
But the idea needed one essential ingredient: a musician capable of turning a concept into tangible sound.
In 2025, Gennaro reached out to Francesco Bargagni.
With 28 consecutive years of involvement in metal, spanning 1997 to 2025, Francesco is deeply rooted in Florence’s and Tuscany’s underground scene. His experience includes live performances across Italy and Europe with Death and Black Metal bands, three record deals in the extreme metal sector, and a career built around his work as a guitarist, composer, sound engineer, and producer.
What was initially intended to be a collaboration on a single track quickly evolved into something much bigger: a fully-fledged, equal artistic partnership.
And so, Calliope was born.
MAN AND MACHINE
One of the most intriguing aspects of the project is its distinctive balance between human creativity and technology.
For Calliope, artificial intelligence is not the end goal, but a tool in the service of the musical vision.
It acts as a kind of “rapid skeleton,” providing inspiration, speeding up certain stages of the creative process, and facilitating remote collaboration between Florence and San Casciano dei Bagni.
However, creative control remains firmly in the musicians’ hands.
Ideas are selected, developed, arranged, and transformed, while the instruments are subsequently recorded physically in the studio.
This combination of innovation and craftsmanship is what defines Calliope’s identity: technology as a means, humanity as the author.
A JOURNEY, NOT JUST AN ALBUM
“Nel Mio Cerchio” is conceived as a journey.
The tracklist follows a carefully structured emotional and narrative progression, guiding listeners through different dimensions of human existence.
The journey begins with a genuine manifesto of intent: an invitation to come together, step into the circle, and share one’s voice and personal truth.
From that point onward, the album moves between introspection and observation of the world.
The search for one’s true self coexists with a sharp critical perspective on contemporary society. War, media manipulation, oppressive rules, hypocrisy, and human deceit become the raw material for songwriting that uses rock and metal as vehicles for reflection and dissent.
But the circle does not look outward alone.
At the heart of the album, the journey changes direction.
The two central tracks form a genuine “personal island”: an intimate space where the two songwriters temporarily set aside the noise of the world to tell their own stories.
Their experiences, personal journeys, and individual identities emerge without filters, transforming the core of the record into a deeply human and autobiographical moment.
This is where the circle becomes personal.
CATHARSIS
After the tension, introspection, and confrontation with the contradictions of the present, “Nel Mio Cerchio” reaches its natural conclusion.
The final track represents catharsis.
Conflict turns into awareness, the search becomes acceptance, and the initial tension gives way to a more peaceful and collective vision.
A world in which people can rediscover a sense of awareness and happiness.
At last, the circle closes.
And it is precisely in its closure that the circle reveals its deepest meaning.
CALLIOPE: THE PRESENT AND THE FUTURE
With “Nel Mio Cerchio,” Calliope officially enter the Italian rock and metal scene with a distinctive formula combining power, melody, technology, underground experience, and songwriting entirely in Italian.
Gennaro Sorrentino and Francesco Bargagni approach this new chapter with the maturity gained through decades of experience, while remaining open to the possibilities of the future.
The album is only the first step.
The goal is to further develop Calliope’s identity and bring the project to the live stage through a lineup of professional session musicians, ready to translate the album’s impact and sonic exploration into a powerful live experience.
“Nel Mio Cerchio” is therefore both a starting point and a statement of intent.
An album born from the meeting of two musical generations, two underground journeys, and two different ways of looking toward the future.
A record in which technology meets humanity.
Power meets melody.
The outside world meets the individual.
And in the end, everything returns to where it began:
the circle.
