Swedish thrash metal newcomers SARCATOR will be releasing their new full-length, ‘Swarming Angels & Flies,’ on January 17, 2025 via Century Media Records, making it their debut to the label! The band is now sharing the ferocious new single from the offering, “The Comet of End Times,” which can be found along with a lyric video at THIS LOCATION.
Vocalist Mateo Tervonen comments, “’Comet of End Times’ is where the dynamics we like to work with become the most present, especially within a song itself. It throws you around between different soundscapes, shifting from total death metal worship to Sabbath-grooves while maintaining a unique flow to it that ties everything together and makes it work very well. A strong pillar of the album.”
Sarcator’s “Swarming Angels & Flies” sets the bar high for the upcoming album in terms of speed, heaviness and pure desire to see the song unfold live. Starting off like an explosion, the song delivers a sonic blast hurling the audience straight into a fire pit with raw, untamed energy. The album is now available for pre-order in various formats HERE.
Sarcator will be joining Eradikated, Eternal Evil, and Bloodstain for the “The Rising Four” tour in autumn/winter 2024 with a total of 10 stops throughout Sweden. More information and tickets can be found HERE.

At a juvenile age of 14-20, Sarcator released their first demo tape, “Visions of Purgatory”, via the American label Redefining Darkness Records in 2019. Just two years later the quadrumvirate got nominated for best rock/metal album for the Swedish music award P3 Guld with their 2020’s self-titled debut release for the same label. After releasing their 2nd album, “Alkahest”, via Black Lion Records in 2022, Sarcator finally got a proper chance to play live, captivating crowds with their intense, blackened live shows.
With their current line-up fully committed to the band despite their young age (all members are between 19 and 25) it was time for them to record their third album, which still features previous guitarist Emil Eriksson. Shortly after signing a new worldwide deal with Century Media Records and heading out on a debut European tour supporting Hellripper and Cloak, Sarcator will be releasing ‘Swarming Angels & Flies’ on January 17, 2025.
This album marks the most intense, brutal and rawest creation yet for the band. It is a remarkably mature and sophisticated piece of work, from mercurial musicians who are only in their early 20’s, and still at the beginning of their creative journey. Across eight, grotesque and utterly venomous tracks, Sarcator have deftly blended the wide-eyed extremity of their debut album with the inspirational musicality of their second record “Alkahest”, while playing everything with more intensity than ever before. Both deliriously melodic and mercilessly brutal: “Swarming Angels & Flies” is the most dangerously potent record the Swedens have made to date.
Sarcator explains about the record and its creation process, “We wanted to highlight the most aggressive and extreme parts of us, but we still wanted to work with dynamics, so you still have elements of classic rock and post-punk, which we started experimenting with on the last record. There is no question that it’s our most intense, brutal, and rawest creation yet – It’s not really a genre album and we like to keep it that way.”
With plenty of live activity in support of the upcoming album, Sarcator are already at the forefront of an emergent, highly determined new generation of Scandinavian extreme metal bands and ready to take the rest of the world by storm soon too.

Acclaimed guitarist Polychuck is set to release his highly anticipated self-titled album on Black Friday/November 29, via Deko Entertainment, showcasing music legends Simon Phillips, Virgil Donati, Derek Sherinian, just to name a few. This remarkable project promises a distinctive listening experience that celebrates authenticity and improvisation, particularly within the realms of progressive rock and metal.
In a bold departure from contemporary production methods, Polychuck emphasizes a commitment to organic sound in his forthcoming album. “There are no fake instruments, no MIDI programming and absolutely no drum samples,” he states. Instead, listeners can expect an engaging musical journey infused with an abundance of improvisation, especially prevalent in the jazz compositions and prog rock tracks. Each artist contributed their unique voice, resulting in dynamic and spontaneous performances that truly capture the essence of the genres.
To highlight the uniqueness of each performance, the music videos accompanying the album feature distinct solos and performances, demonstrating how improvisation breathes new life into each rendition, setting it apart from the studio versions. Drawing inspiration from the rich sonic landscape of the 1970s, Polychuck employed a range of vintage analog gear, utilizing techniques such as tape recording to impart warmth and character to the sound.

Following the success of their critically acclaimed debut single, “Game Of Chess,” indie rock outfit REVERSED CHAKRA returns with their powerful second release, “Dust.” This new single continues the band’s sonic exploration, blending indie rock’s raw energy with wave’s haunting allure, topped with post-rock’s emotional intensity.
“As we approach the release of ‘Dust,’ our second single, We are so excited to share this next chapter of Reversed Chakra’s journey. Following the success of ‘Game of Chess,’ which garnered over 2.2 million views and was embraced by countless radio stations worldwide, ‘Dust’ represents yet another evolution of our sound—a powerful call to action in both its message and energy. Working alongside legendary producers like Paul Reeve, John Fryer, and Richard Dodd has been a profound experience. Each has contributed an unmatched depth and expertise to this single, bringing out the raw emotion and dynamic strength that defines our music. From Paul Reeve’s stunning vocal production to John Fryer’s visionary approach to mixing and Richard Dodd’s final mastering touches, ‘Dust’ is a testament to our commitment to creating something impactful. The video for ‘Dust’ delves into a deeply metaphysical concept, symbolizing a journey through transformation and awakening. We wanted to capture the spirit of rebellion and resilience, showing how breaking free from personal and societal stifling forces can lead to a powerful sense of liberation. It’s a visual experience that mirrors the raw, dynamic intensity of the track itself. We hope listeners find inspiration and intensity in ‘Dust’ and that it resonates as deeply with them as it does with us.”
Reversed Chakra’s sound explores deep emotions, crafting stories that transcend the ordinary. Imagine a fusion of Interpol and Editors, seasoned with hints of Kings of Leon and The Killers, all enveloped in the ethereal beauty of The Cure and Sigur Ros. This sonic journey defies genres and promises to leave you spellbound.
Following the momentum of Game of Chess, Dust is poised to make waves and Reversed Chakra invites all music lovers and critics to join them in this sonic odyssey. Stay tuned for more updates and witness the evolution of an indie rock sensation destined to leave a lasting impact.

Like all big things, Thy Catafalque come from small beginnings. Back in the late ’90s, Tamás Kátai started the project in his Hungarian hometown as a black metal duo that was never intended to leave the studio. Now, two decades later, the two-time Fonogram winner and his lively band of collaborators are about to release their most imaginative album yet.
“After twenty-five years creating delightful avant garde concoctions of folk, electronica, extreme metal, and progressive-minded good ol’ fashioned rock, you’d almost expect Tamás Kátai to run out of ideas”, writes Everything Is Noise. “And yet, as proven by their twelfth album, Thy Catafalque isn’t showing any signs of slowing down.”
XII: A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek comes out today, Friday, November 15, and you can hearall 10 dark and dreamy songs today by listening to the full album stream on the Season of Mist YouTube channel.
In true prolific fashion, Tamás Kátai hasn’t been mulling over his twelfth album for too long. XII arrives just one year after Thy Catafalque’s previous album. Just like Alföld, once again, Kátai set out to make a straightforward metal record. But A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek – which in English translates to The Beautiful Dreams Are Yet to Come – ended up taking him on another surreal head trip.
“I think of this album as an introspective journey through the night”, Kátai says.
The journey begins with “Piros kocsi, fekete éj”. Meaning “Red Carriage, Black Night” in English, the opening track glides off through a warm mist of piping keys, led by twin engine guitars that crest with reverb. “Time clatters on the rails“, Attila Bakos sings in Hungarian. His voice beams over the airwaves with the same clean force as 15 years ago, when he helped lift Thy Catafalque out of the Hungarian underground on the recently reissued Róka hasa rádió.
Many familiar faces join Kátai on this journey. A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek features the biggest guest list in Thy Catafalque’s long and storied history. Martina Veronika Horváth — whose band The Answer Lies in the Black Void toured Europe with Thy Catafalque earlier in 2024 — duets with the tender brooding Gábor Dudás for a faithful rendition of “Lydiához”, a 1980 Sebő ensemble classic that sowed the seeds for Hungary’s roots revival.
Violins, cello, clarinet and other classical instruments add to the comforts of home. Still, A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek can be a heavy road – especially during the album’s crushing middle section. As deftly illustrated by the song’s luxurious video, “Mindenevő” is a full bore feast for bloodthirsty metalheads. Blackened chugger “Vasgyár” shares a namesake with the rusted-out ironworks that once fueled Hungary’s economy.
A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek ties back not only to the history of his home country but also Kátai’s own past. In the title track’s surreal video, scenes from the past and present linger along his winding path through the placid countryside. Watching his doppelgänger dig his own grave feels like a living nightmare. “This song comes from a place of desperation”, Kátai says. “Within the afterglow of nostalgia, there’s also the chill of disappointment”.
Ultimately, the progressive flair that has come to define Thy Catafalque shines through the darkness on album twelve. Only this time around, to reach the light at the end of the tunnel, Kátai needed some guidance. “I felt like the production had largely been the same since Geometria“, he admits. XII marks the first time in the project’s history that he worked with an outside producer. Thanks to Gábor Vári’s knowing touch, even the dark waves of synth on “A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek” glow with the faint but familiar reassurance of the dawn.
“Even amidst the despair and disappointment, there’s still hope for a future that might offer warmer days after the darkness has ceded”, Kátai says.
On Thy Catafalque’s twelfth album, Tamás Kátai proves that the beautiful dreams are yet to come.

For two decades, Tamás Kátai was content on sticking to the studio. That changed in 2021, when he and a cast of heavy hitters performed at the Fekete Zaj Festival. This milestone was later committed to memory on Mezolit, but Thy Catafalque has continued to grow into a steady and spectacular live act.
Last month, Thy Catafalque performed in Spain during a showcase for rock, pop and electronic music at BIME Live Festival. Now, to celebrate their new album, Kátai and his ever-growing list of collaborators are performing two very special sold-out shows at one of Hungary’s most influential underground venues, where they’ll perform songs off XII: A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek, along with all ten tracks on the recently reissued fifth album Rengeteg.
During these two special shows at Dürer Kert, Thy Catafalque will be joined by the noisy experimentalists in Shum, labelmate Saor and Kátai’s old band, Gire.
Next summer, Thy Catafalque will hit Kilkim Zaibu, Alcatraz and other major stops along the European festival circuit for the very first time.

Metalheads all over the world associate Thy Catafalque with Hungary, but Kátai also sets the scene for Red Bull TV’s new feature-length film.
ANYTIME follows a daring new generation of mountain bikers as they set out to conquer the world’s most extreme terrains. Bikers Brage Vestavik and Kade Edwards took on the daunting challenge of Chile’s “The Megadolon”, a 5,542 foot descent down a steep and snowy mountainside. This tense scene is set by “Köszöntsd a hajnalt”, the heavy yet serene third single off Thy Catafalque’s tenth album Vadak.

New fans and long-time appreciators can now rediscover just how much Thy Catafalque has grown since their humble beginnings as a duo. This year, Season of Mist re-issued Thy Catafalque’s first seven albums.
Tamás Kátai has a vision that extends beyond borders and boundaries. Even during its infancy, Thy Catafalque had already outgrown the rather rigid guidelines of black metal. Though only intended for the studio, over the past 20 years, his recording project has evolved into a lively collaboration. With each album, Thy Catafalque has pushed the envelope of extreme metal a step further, bringing the world’s most vile art form into conversation with the avant-garde.
Thy Catafalque’s twelfth album is even more expansive, but XII: A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek ties both to its mastermind’s past and the history of his native Hungary. “For this album, I felt it was time to move in a different direction, whatever that direction might be”, Kátai says, “but XII still possesses the dreaminess that I’ve always associated with Thy Catafalque”.
Of course, Kátai hasn’t been mulling over this album for too long. Keeping in line with his prolific pace, XII arrives just one year after his previous album. Named after the stretch of land where the producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist was born in southeast Hungary, Alföld returned to the heaviness from which Thy Catafalque took root during the late ’90s. Once again, Kátai set out to make a straightforward metal record, but while there’s plenty of cause for chest-pounding, A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek ended up taking him on another surreal headtrip.
“I think of this album as an introspective journey through the night”, Kátai says. Opener “Piros kocsi, fekete éj” (which in English means “Red Carriage, Black Night”) glides off through a warm mist of piping keys, led by twin engine guitars that crest with reverb. “Time clatters on the rails”. Attila Bakos sings in Hungarian. His voice beams over the airwaves with the same clean force as 15 years ago, when he helped lift Thy Catafalque out of the Hungarian underground on the recently reissued Róka hasa rádió.
“Attila also sang on Rengeteg“, Kátai remembers about the first Thy Catafalque album that he wrote and recorded by himself. “‘Piros kocsi, fekete éj’ has the same sense for melody. It opens the album with a feeling of nostalgia”.
Of course, many other familiar faces join Kátai on his journey. After all, Thy Catafalque started as a duo with János Juhász. A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek features the biggest guest list in the project’s long discography. More than 20 guest musicians appear on this album, including old friends from inside and outside the Hungarian metal scene.
“That is a song that’s been with me and the rest of my generation ever since we were children”, Kátai says. Violins, cello, clarinet and other classical instruments add to the comforts of home. Before it drifts off high beyond the clouds, “Vakond” strings along like a whistling stroll across The Great Plains. “Alföld was very bleak”, he continues. “Adding classical and acoustic instruments helped add a spring of color and an air of adventure to these new songs”.
Still, A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek can be a hard road — especially during its crushing middle section. Despite the gentle opening plucks, “Mindenevő” crashes down like a boulder, hurtling ahead at terrifying speed behind doomy operatic backing vocals, mechanized blast beats and the eerie fires of tremolo picking that forged Thy Catafalque’s debut Sublunary Tragedies. “This album still has plenty of metal”, Kátai assures.
The heaviest moments are often grounded in Hungary’s history. While colored by nostalgia, XII is also shadowed by the ticking hands of time, a theme that ripples back to 2021’s Vadak. Blackened chugger “Vasgyár” shares a namesake with the rusted-out ironworks that once fueled the country’s economy. It’s not a political statement, but the song does reflect how the landscape has changed to the eye of the now 48-year-old Kátai.
“Even the album’s visuals are from a bygone era”, he says. In the video for its title track, closing song and lead single, Kátai doesn’t just run through the streets of his hometown. Surreal scenes from the past and present linger along his winding path through the placid countryside. Watching his doppelgänger dig his own grave feels like a living nightmare. “‘This song comes from a place of desperation”, he says. “Within the afterglow of nostalgia, there’s also the chill of disappointment”.
Ultimately, the progressive flair that has come to define Thy Catafalque shines through the darkness on album twelve. Only this time around, in order to reach the light at the end of the tunnel, Kátai needed some guidance. “I felt like the production had largely been the same since Geometria“, he admits. XII marks the first time in the project’s history that he worked with an outside producer. Granted, Gábor Vári is no stranger to how his mind works. When he’s not holed away in the studio with other prominent Hungarian metal bands, Gábor could be seen hammering away at his guitar on stage with Thy Catafalque on the live album Mezolit. “He was the perfect person to help give this album a somewhat different sound that is still familiar”.
As a result, “A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek” stands out as one of Thy Catafalque’s biggest crowd pleasers, uplifted by hand claps and catchy, fist-pumping riffs. Even the dark waves of synth glow with the reassurance of the dawn. “At the end, there’s still hope for a future that might offer warmer days after the darkness has ceded”.
Thy Catafalque’s twelfth album looks back longingly at the past, Tamás Kátai isn’t stopping to smell the roses. With A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek, he shows that the beautiful dreams are yet to come.

When SMASH MOUTH formed in San Jose in 1994, although nobody gave it much thought at the time, it was 32 years since the Beatles released their first British single, “Love Me Do,” in October 1962.
Now, 30 further years have elapsed, and the circle is closed as the SoCal punk party legends release their own version of that epochal Lennon-McCartney composition.
Recorded for a forthcoming punk Beatles tribute album, “Love Me Do” is the latest in a very select line of classic covers that Smash Mouth have released over the years – their version of the Monkees’ “I’m A Believer” remains a breathless delight, alongside a tremendous take on Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up” and, last year, the Brady Bunch’s “Sunshine Day,” featuring none less than Greg Brady.
This is not their first go-round with the Beatles, either – back in 2005, they tackled the Fabs’ “Getting Better.”
“Love Me Do,” however, is special. Bassist and founder member Paul DeLisle says, “Of course Smash Mouth are all massive Beatles fans, and it’s such a huge honor to release this single. We were all super stoked to cover “Love Me Do” because we saw an opportunity to give a very different treatment to the Beatles’ very first top 20 hit.
“I personally hope people will hear the excitement and loving care we put into this recording. I’m pretty sure they will.”
