Dutch/Slovakian downtempo/deathcore ensemble DISTANT like to be busy and kept writing music despite their busy touring schedule and playing 117 shows in 2023 alone as well as tours with Suffocation and Born Of Osiris aside from headlining shows and playing festivals in 2024.
In honor of their 10-year anniversary as a band DISTANT are thrilled to present TSUKUYOMI: THE ORIGIN, an expanded and revitalized version of their debut EP, TSUKUYOMI. This release features seven brand new tracks alongside six revamped versions of songs, weaving a comprehensive tale that predates Tyrannt’s conquest through the universe. TSUKUYOMI: THE ORIGIN not only delves into DISTANT‘s origins but also explores the lore behind their lyrics. It isn’t a standard remaster or simple rerecording, but the band overhauled the original songs to reflect their current sound and vision, ensuring the tracks get the attention they deserve. Expect new features (Matthew K Heafy, Alex Erian of Despised Icon, David Simonich of Signs Of The Swarm and Travis Worland of Enterprise Earth) and a seamless blend of fresh and re-recorded tracks. The album will be released November 22nd.
Today they are unveiling another brand-new song, FLESHWEAVER, that the band already played during the latest shows. For the video they teamed up with Loki Films for another audio-visual assault.
BLIND CHANNEL release their infamous boyband cover EVERYBODY (BLOODBROS BACK). After releasing their latest album EXIT EMOTIONSin March 2024, the chart-topping Finnish nu-metal stars are finally unleashing their legendary cover EVERYBODY (BLOODBROS BACK) of Backstreet Boys’ 1997 hit single ‘Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)’. The cover, which has been part of the bands’ live set-list all over the US and Europe, can already be considered a fan-favorite and turns the original boyband pop song into a high-octane headbanger that will have both metalheads and 90s fans moshing together.
The track comes with an impressive music video that recaps the band’s significant growth and success over the past three years and showcases their non-stop dedication to their career.
The band shares about the single: “Over 10 years ago we were starting our career as a group of teenagers playing energetic metal while being dressed like 2010’s Justin Biebers. People started calling us a ”boyband trying to play metal”. We chose to embrace what was originally meant as an insult. Now it’s time to turn this absolute boyband-classic from our live shows to a full-on studio version with low tuned guitars & modern nu metal vibes. Instead of ”original and sexual” we are ”emotional and miserable”. Check out our cover of this iconic song and the music video recapping our career’s craziest moments on & off stage.”
FEVER 333 have released another new single taken from their upcoming album DARKER WHITE out October 4th. Fans can now stream and watch the music video for DESERT RAP.
“If you hope to be an instrument for change, you must remember to keep said instrument sharp,” says Jason Aalon on the new song out today. “Fatigue will find you if you don’t find yourself first. On the micro and macro level, this song serves as a reminder that when trying to do right by the people remember you as a person as well.”
Consisting of fourteen tracks, DARKER WHITE is the intersection we will all find ourselves in at some point in our lives,” says Aalon on the theme of the new album. “It is the struggle we will inevitably face when identifying our metric for good or bad. Wrong or right. Dark and light. All based on our environment, social construction and cultural/psychological conditioning. It is the eagle-eyed observation of said intersection and the removing the shame after realizing we all experience it and it is up to us to find use of this taboo so it can be offered to the world as a beautiful story, piece of wisdom or a perspective that ironically changes your life for the better. DARKER WHITE is a sonic and social experience.”
Italian digital/metal innovator arottenbit unveils the second advance single from their new album, “You Don’t Know What Chiptune Is”, set for release on October 4th 2024 via Time To Kill Records.
arottenbit commented: “A chaotic excursion from 95 to 246 BPM. Urban and forest landscapes, in a quest for pure pleasure, deliberately ignoring all the risks that might be encountered along the way. Speedcore and techno intertwined with the established hardcore punk and sludge metal approach that distinguishes every POST-CHIPTUNE track by arottenbit. A Game Boy used as a true musical instrument, not as a gimmick or aesthetic whim. A gaming console pushed to its limits and transformed into a nightmare-grinding machine. A journey into the darkest instincts and hidden desires. You know you like it”.
“You Don’t Know What Chiptune Is” is a bold exploration of the chiptune genre, pushing the boundaries of 8-bit music with an experimental and innovative approach. Each track on the album is a unique specimen, meticulously crafted to showcase the versatility and depth of chiptune sounds.
The album is characterized by its inventive use of 8-bit sound chips, evoking the essence of vintage gaming consoles like Game Boy. arottenbit skillfully manipulates these sounds to create a wide range of textures and atmospheres. The lo-fi, raw quality of the 8-bit era is preserved, while contemporary production techniques enhance the overall listening experience. “You Don’t Know What Chiptune Is” is ideal for both long-time fans of chiptune and those new to the genre. It should appeal to listeners who appreciate the intersection of retro gaming culture and modern electronic music, offering a fresh perspective on what can be achieved with 8-bit sounds.
With “You Don’t Know What Chiptune Is” the project challenges preconceptions and showcases the expansive potential of chiptune music. This album is a testament to the creativity and innovation within the genre, making it a must-listen for anyone interested in the cutting-edge of 8-bit music.

Biography:
“Like Atari Teenage Riot playing some Melvins”, they said.
From the violence of hardcore punk concerts to the heaviness of sludge metal, all the way to the hallucinatory state of certain dawns spent dancing at the worst techno afterparties with a pounding bass.
In an opulent age where everything is consumed quickly, arottenbit blends genres using an obsolete tool, an old NINTENDO GAME BOY rescued from the trash. A children’s toy, now used to awaken the nightmares of adults.
If punk taught us that you don’t need to know how to play an instrument to make music, today we learn that you don’t even need to own a musical instrument to make music!
From 70 to 240 bpm on a heavy and furious journey, encompassing all the influences that a metropolis can offer during its darkest nights.
arottenbit is an electronic music project born in 2008 by Alessandro ‘Otto’ Galli (FOH Sound Engineer for Messa, Deafheaven, Pallbearer, Truckfighters, Bongzilla, Fuoco Fatuo). Playing solo with a 1989 NINTENDO GAME BOY or accompanied by hardcore punk drummer Guido Montanarini (PARADISE LOST, IMPLORE, THE SECRET), he soon found himself opening for some of his favorite bands like MELVINS, ATARI TEENAGE RIOT, THE BODY, MELT BANANA, AUTHOR & PUNISHER, FULL OF HELL and performing at major international festivals like ROADBURN 2022, HELLFEST 2022. He organized the largest DIY 8-bit festival in world history “MILANO CHIPTUNE UNDERGROUND” at the famous squat MACAO in Milan (with over 2000 attendees!), and embarked on three European and UK tours as the opening act for the Italian band MASTER BOOT RECORD (BLOOD MUSIC, METAL BLADE RECORDS). All of this without ever releasing an album, relying on the unique impact of his live performances and the word of mouth from friends and music industry professionals.
OPHIDIAN MEMORY is an American death metal project leaded by Blake Lamoureux. He already has in his account three records: “Ophidian Memory” (EP, 2021) and albums “The Stag” (2022), “Our Shattered Garden” (2023).
Sonically Ophidian Memory uses a base of melodic death metal to add and blend multiple sub genres together including black metal, thrash, progressive metal, and metalcore. Each album tells of tales based in a fictional universe where beings of light and dark are entwined in constant conflict as they plot to destroy humanity, eachother, and existence.
Now he is going to release brand new studio album titled “Carrion Lord“.
Music was recorded and mixed by Blake Lamoureux. Mastering was done by Rick Stallkamp. Cover artwork was done by Caelan Stokkermans (Abiotic, Hannes Grossmann, Lorna Shore). Album will be released on September 27, 2024.
“Carrion Lord” is a prequel to previous releases and marks a huge expansion in lore, set over one thousand years before the events of “The Stag” and “Our Shattered Garden“. Introduced are the main influential factions in the human realm known as The Kerberos and The Luminary as well as the characters within them that lead a great chain of causes and effects. In addition, new and returning ancient deities and seraphs that have only been mentioned before will make reprises and revelations.

Swedish hardcore punk veterans WOLFBRIGADE have unleashed a video for “Ways To Die.” The punishing new track comes by way of the band’s long-awaited Life Knife Death full-length, out now on Metal Blade Records!
Comments the band, “This is a little gem about the human creativity when it comes to ways of punishing and killing each other in the most terrible ways. Take the sadistic practice of ‘rat torture’ for instance, involving strapping a bucket full of rats to a victim’s naked torso. The bucket is then heated from the outside. The rodents chew their way into the very bowels of the victim in an attempt to escape the heat. All the way through the doomed person’s flesh, and any organs it happens to encounter on its way to freedom. No living being is meant to be caged.”
The video for the track was directed by MeANkind with director of photography and editor Jacob Frössén.
Forged in 1995 in the small Swedish city of Mariestad by key players from Sweden’s legendary hardcore scene, WOLFBRIGADE – previously known as Wolfpack until 1999 – stands among Scandinavia’s most respected, influential, and reliable purveyors of real-world brute-force tumult. On Life Knife Death, thirty years of skill are honed to a fine edge and dispatched with greater style and intensity than ever before. Most immediately, there’s the sheer velocity and barely controlled rage pumping through dynamic d-beaten blood-shakers like “Ways To Die” and “Your God Is A Corpse,” the furious attack assisted to heart-fluttering greatness by a newly loosened sense of raucous spontaneity.
Writes Distorted Sound in part, “The band remain a towering monument to an almost swaggering brutality; death metal elements adorning the already bloody hardcore jacket are tokens of successful rampages in years’ past on proud display. Be that through the sheer audio thuggery of ‘Ways To Die’ or the anatomy-altering bombast of ‘Unruled And Unnamed,’ there is heaviness here that will punch holes through even the most vinegar-soaked critics.” Adds Rock Hard Germany, “With an aggressive energy that is unparalleled in the genre cosmos, the collective around singer Micke Dahl once again becomes the mouthpiece of the contemporary anger that drives us all every day and can be catalyzed here for at least half an hour. If you also like the cover artwork of Celtic Frost’s Morbid Tales, you will be hooked on Life Knife Death for that reason alone.”
