COSMIC JAGUAR have released their sophomore full length “El Era Del Jaguar” via Soman Records.
COSMIC JAGUAR is the amazingly unique Technical Death/Thrash Metal project that hail out of stricken land of Ukraine and this is the band’s sophomore full length offering that’s titled “El Era Del Jaguar” and this album is one of the most unique listens that you may have ever heard yet.
The band shared: “It’s full of tribal type instruments (flutes, bongos and keys) with guitars and drums, of course. The album is mostly techy, having sweeping arpeggios in the guitar harmonies, the vocals are a mix of death roars and thrash style shouty styles vocals that’s really common in thrash bands obviously. There’s even a tiny bit of cleans in the album, mostly done by a female and I especially tolerate female cleans in extreme metal, as we’ve never found a female singer who sounds bad vocally.”
FFO: Cynic, later Death and definite influences of Voivod in here too.
Release date – 29 may 2024 Label – Soman Records

Hailing from Reading, Pennsylvania, rock metal rising stars A THOUSAND REASONS (ATR), have inked a record deal with Wormholedeath. Their self-titled debut album, a powerful mix of hard rock, post-grunge, emo, and metal, is set to detonate on July 19, 2024!
ATR’s music is more than just headbanging anthems. It’s a raw and relatable exploration of mental health battles. Joseph Drenning shares, “I am excited and optimistic about the opportunities ahead as we work and grow together. I hope we can continue learning and growing as musicians while developing our signature sound and making music our primary career. I’d like for people around the world to relate to the lyrics and know they aren’t alone.” Echoing Joseph’s sentiments, Nathan Baker expressed his gratitude, stating, “I feel excited and honored to have our talents recognized, and I feel hopeful that this shows our music to people all around the world.”
The band conceptualized all songs before recording. With almost a year of hard work and collaboration across two different studios, each band member’s input played a role in elevating the album to its final version. From battling depression and anxiety to overcoming addiction, ATR transforms their struggles into anthems of resilience. Imagine a sonic landscape where Breaking Benjamin jams with Linkin Park, while My Chemical Romance throws a mosh pit with Seether. That’s the electrifying world of A Thousand Reasons. Prepare for face-melting riffs, soaring choruses (“Obsession,” “Darkness”), and moments of tender vulnerability (“Listening,” “Hypnotizing”).
ATR’s journey began in 2021 as a solo outlet for Joseph Drenning. In 2022, the band morphed into a powerhouse quartet with the addition of guitarist/vocalist Nathan Baker, bassist Zach Anuszewskiand, and drummer Jeff Klein. Get ready to experience their live show evolution as they hit the stage with their new bassist, Mark Ferraro!

Marjana Semkina has unveiled a video for for the positively dark single ‘Swan Song’, the third taken from her stunning new solo LP, Sirin, released May 31st.
Marjana comments on the single: “Swan Song is a meditation on death, a memento mori if you will. It’s all about remembering that everything is going to end one day, good things and bad, and accepting it with a light heart and a clear head. Making peace with leaving things behind and moving on to wherever we go next, even if it’s nothingness.”
Produced by Crystal Spotlight, watch the video for ‘Swan Song’ here:
One of the most highly anticipated progressive releases of the year, Sirin smashed its Kickstarter target within 24 hours of launch, achieving over 200% before release.
Sirin is a journey of dark stories and fairy tales, told with Marjana’s uniquely captivating voice, on a foundation of detailed musical arrangements. However there is a prevailing darkness and grief, inspired by the Russian invasion of Ukraine, with the first single about by the protests.
On the album Sirin, she continues: “Sirin is a mythical creature from ancient Slavic mythology, half-bird half-woman, she’s a harbinger of bad luck and death, and it’s believed that if you meet Sirin a big catastrophe will happen – except in case with the events surrounding this album it’s already happened. Sirin cries and mourns for humankind, and nothing can be more appropriate in this day and age. Sirin is one of very few creatures that can travel between worlds – a world of gods of light, a world of dark deities (in some versions an alternative to the underworld) and a world of mortals. This felt appropriate because the album is quite diverse in sound and some might think parts of it sound happy, but the subject matter is almost always quite morbid, which creates a contrast that I enjoy.
“I was never very political and I always tried to keep my art within the realms of lore, literature and imagination. But when events like the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine happen, it is impossible – and I’d even say, unforgivable – to stay silent and do nothing. Thankfully being based in the UK I feel rather safe speaking out against the current regime and I do have a platform that I can use to try and show the world that Russians disagree with the actions of the Russian government, and there are so many of us that only wish for this to be over. I’m just trying to show it in the most artistic way I can muster.”
Sirin track list:
01 We Are The Ocean 02 Lost But At Peace 03 Anything But Sleep (feat. Jim Grey) 04 Pygmalion 05 Angel Street 06 Gone 07 Death And The Maiden (feat. Mick Moss) 08 The Storm 09 Swan Song 10 This Silence This Dreaming
Recording musicians: Grigoriy Losenkov – piano, bass guitar, synths, drum programming Vlad Avy – electric guitar, synths, drum programming Keli Guðjónsson (Agent Fresco) – drums Charlie Cawood (Mediæval Bæbes, Knifeworld) – acoustic guitar, bouzouki, glockenspiel, hammered dulcimer, luiqin, guzheng Liam McLaughlin (Sithu aye, iamthemorning) – electric guitar Margarita Chernyshevskaya – 1st Violin Petr Chepelev – 2nd Violin Julia Uliashcenkova – Viola Julia Romashko – Cello
Now permanently based in the UK, Marjana has been an active campaigner against the Russian occupation in Ukraine and has raised thousands of pounds via her activities to support the victims of war. She will continue her work, including selling a number of a limited run of handwritten lyrics from Sirin, with the money going to Ukrainian charities. Acts punishable by 15 years imprisonment should she return home.
Marjana is joined by an array of world class musicians (detailed below), which includes two very special guest vocal performances from Jim Grey (Caligula’s Horse) and Mick Moss (Antimatter).
Known for her work as the vocalist of prog duo Iamthemorning, self-exiled Russian Marjana has forged a successful solo career with two critically acclaimed solo releases: her 2020 debut solo album Sleepwalking, and 2021 follow-up EP Disillusioned.
Marjana has previously collaborated with many incredible artists, including The Flower Kings, Jordan Rudess, Blackbriar,as well as Anna Murphy with their Maer project. Combined with her work in Iamthemorning, her experiences have enabled her to become one of the most unique and exciting solo artists in the progressive world today.
