Finnish DEATH’S-HEAD AND THE SPACE ALLUSION are set to release their second album later in 2023. The first single ‘The Son of Shahar’ from the upcoming album is now released and the lyric video is available below.
Guitarist Antza Talala comments:
“The Son of Shahar is a heavy and mid-tempo song that felt appropriate to release as the first bite.
Lyric-wise it’s quite simple. The way of the world today is frankly quite hilarious, and despite all the promises the second coming of Jesus isn’t showing any signs of happening, you might as well call for The Son of Dawn and probe his brain for ideas.
Truthfully, there might be an idea from human behavioural models behind the lyrics, but we let everyone reach their own conclusions.”
Composed by Antza Talala Lyrics by Antza Talala Single cover by Petri Lampela
DEATH’S-HEAD AND THE SPACE ALLUSION, a band founded in 2016 in Oulu, Finland, is a combination of melodies, metal and clean vocals. The band released their debut album ‘The Counterbalance ‘ in 2019 and now they are ready to release their second album! A few singles from the album will be released before people can listen to the full album.
This originally named band has an interesting way of infusing their music with melodies, metal and the raging spirit of rock with its guitar solos, and all this with a progressive touch.
Familiar atmospheres and vibes from the 80’s can be heard in their music as well, which come from a large quantity of keyboards in their songs.
The band has members from several known bands including To/Die/For, Burning Point, Antipope and Downstone.
DEATH’S-HEAD AND THE SPACE ALLUSION is a great, new kind of a modern sounding band where bold influences from the 80’s can be heard. This excellent metal palette is brilliantly brought forward with ’The Counterbalance’ debut album. The upcoming second album will continue on the same path!

Italy’s avant-garde, one-man black metal band, HIEMS,premieres music video for the title song of new album “Stranger in a Wasteland”, due out September 8th on Agonia Records.
The video was recorded in the city of Novara by Maurizio Del Piccolo of Moviedel Italia Productions, and is starring Alessandro “Algol” Comerio of HIEMS and Martina Tomasoni. Watch the video, here:
HIEMS was launched in 1996 by Italian songwriter & multi-instrumentalist Alessandro “Algol” Comerio. “Stranger in a Wasteland” marks his third outing and is the sound of an artist confident in his craft. Recorded during lock-down, the music captures the dismal feelings of alienation and detachment, and translates them into malevolent, minimalistic and non-canonical black metal, infused with dark hard rock and ominous grooves. In comparison with “Worship or Die” – the second and last installment from 2009 – “Stranger in a Wasteland” boasts a much clearer and refined production, which added a commanding character to the vocals, exposed the weight of the guitars, and sharpened the overall listening experience. The topic of death – closely followed by a sense of not belonging – is equally present in the musical and lyrical layer of the album.
“It’s been a long time since the last Hiems record,” recalls Comerio. “I’ve always continued to write material, but only when the pandemic gave me some free time was I able to gather the songs written in the past years and shape them. I chose the name of the record to highlight the song that is the best representation of my vision of life and the current world. I feel like a stranger wherever I go. I can’t find any religion or philosophy with which I can completely agree, and today’s world seems to me a wasteland; destroyed and forgotten. So yeah, I do feel like a stranger in a wasteland. It’s about not belonging to any creed or flag. To follow your own path, even if it leads to loneliness. Regarding the production, I’m a sound maniac. I spent days and days in the studio, searching for the sound I had in mind. I wanted the record to sound different from actual ‘plastic’ metal, so I chose not to use triggers or artificial reverbs and go completely old school.”
“Stranger in a Wasteland” was recorded at Elfo Studio (Forgotten Tomb), engineered by Daniele Mandelli and mixed and produced by Daniele Mandelli and Alessandro “Algol” Comerio. The album was mastered at La Maestà Studio (Muse) by Giovanni Versari and comes with artwork by Adam Burke (Solstafir, Enforcer). Layout illustrations (medieval engravings) were provided by Davide Schileo. Guest appearances include Gabriel Minuta (guest guitars), Paolo Apollo Negri (guest hammond organs) and Elisabetta Marchetti (guest vocals).

About the band (Wiki): A pioneer of the progressive metal movement, Fates Warning has been referred to as one of the “Big Three” of the genre, creating and popularizing the style along with Queensrÿche and Dream Theater. Their early work, influenced by the new wave of British heavy metal, is also important in the development of American power metal. Fates Warning has released thirteen studio albums, two live albums, one compilation album, one VHS cassette, three DVDs (each featuring live concerts) and four demo tapes. The band experienced its first commercial success with the 1986 release of their third studio album, Awaken the Guardian, which peaked at No. 191 on the Billboard 200 and became the first album released on Metal Blade to enter that chart. Their next three albums-No Exit (1988), Perfect Symmetry (1989) and Parallels (1991)-were also successful; the first two peaked at No. 111 and No. 141 on the Billboard 200, respectively. By 2001, Fates Warning had sold over a million albums worldwide. Their latest studio album, Long Day Good Night, was released on November 6, 2020 by Metal Blade Records.
Boasting more hooks than a tackle box, “Lights On” launches with a crunchy spring in its step, with deep grooves airy guitars and PHIL JAMIESON’s creamy vocals ever present throughout the tune. Jackson McRae steps in to bust out the driving beats on “Lights On”, along with Phil and co-producer Oscar Dawson, aka guitarist for Aussie indie rockers Holy Holy, delivering a dreamy and jangly delight that went through multiple variations before its final end result.
The single also may or may not be inspired by bank heists and memories, as Phil elaborates, “it’s been a journey for “Lights On”, going through many iterations and arrangements and what not. It’s a fun song to move your shoulders and hips to. The track might be about a bank heist? At its core, it’s about always keeping your heart in place for the person that you love. But its also about memories that might have betrayed you in some ways, and maybe about stealing money and maybe about hiding it. Maybe its about a bank heist, Oceans 13, Oceans 8, and it could be about saying: no matter what, I’m gonna kind of hand in there, I’m gonna be there, so sentimental!‘
Jamieson’s live performance talents have continued to diversify and develop as he has explored new stages and formats in his post-band career. He made the transition from live music venues to the boards of theatres around the country in 2017, cast as St. Jimmy in the Australian stage production of American Idiot. The Broadway musical had an impactful Australian season, and a performance that earned Jamiesonwide acclaim: “PhilJamieson carried the role, and absolutely nailed it… whenever he is onstage, it’s difficult to focus on anything else.” – Syn Media.
As well as working on his musical career in recent years, Jamieson has been involved in several philanthropic and industry-specific initiatives. In 2013, he co-founded the Rock N Ride Tour for the national Youth and Mental Health Foundation, Headspace, bringing awareness to mental health issues faced by young people across a five-day motorcycle road trip. Additionally, Jamiesonhas donated profits from his solo touring to national initiative, Support Act, who continue to assist those in need in the music industry. Since 2015, Jamieson has also been an industry judge for the Australian Music Prize, arguably the most prestigious award in Australian music.
From fronting a generation-defining rock band the multi-platinum-selling Grinspoon, to enjoying success in the musical theatre world, Jamieson remains a multi-faceted creative, 27years on from his debut. And now with his sights firmly focused on a start-delayed solo career, “Trouble” introduces, finally and fully formed, PhilJamieson: solo artist.
Following their previously-released album single, the hell-for-leather rager “Good Time”, today, Canadian rock trio DANKO JONES has shared a new lyric video!
September 15, 2023 will see the undisputed kings of balls-out rock’n’roll release their much-awaited studio album titled Electric Sounds through AFM Records. The band’s eleventh offering promises to have the instant sound and feel of a classic. Hands down, with DANKO JONES, you are going to have a good time, rock as hard as you can, always at full volume!
As charismatic frontman Danko recently said, “Good Time is the song you need to hear when you’re not ready to throw in the towel. It also rocks very very very hard and has a lot of swear words.” In addition to the hilarious karaoke-themed music video featuring a guest appearance by Inge Johansson (currently in Gatuplan, previously of Against Me! and International Noise Conspiracy), that has been released earlier, now it’s your turn to sing along! A new lyric video for “Good Time” is now premiering here:
“Good Time” is available on all digital services atTHIS LOCATION!
From the spiky blues of 2002’s Born A Lion and the crazed power-pop of its follow-up We Sweat Blood (2003), to the priapic perfection of 2010’s Below The Belt, the band’s knack for hitting rock’s sweet spot has never wavered. Formed in Toronto in 1996, DANKO JONES have seen and done just about everything over the last quarter of a century. Powered by a DIY punk rock spirit, and inspired by the good, great and grotesque of electrified rock ‘n’ roll, they have steadily built a colossal international fan base and become one of the most acclaimed live bands around, embraced by everyone from mainstream radio-rock fans to diehard metalheads. Along the way, they have released ten widely praised studio albums, generating a peerless repertoire of fists-in-the-air crowd-pleasers into the bargain.
Since frontman Danko and bassist JC joined forced with drummer Rich Knox, the band’s creative fire has blazed more brightly than ever. A succession of all-killer, no-filler albums – Fire Music, Wild Cat, A Rock Supreme, Power Trio – has led to even more gung-ho touring and unapologetic service to the rock cause. With Electric Sounds, Toronto’s archbishops of amplification prove that even a global pandemic couldn’t stop them. Armed with yet another stone cold classic, DANKO JONES are on a renewed mission to rock the living shit-lights out of anyone and everyone that wants to join the party. After 27 years of active service, the trio’s commitment and intensity continues to grow, and their popularity and prominence continues to follow an upward route.
Electric Sounds was produced by Eric Ratz, and features guest spots from Tyler Stewart (Barenaked Ladies), Damian Abraham (Fucked Up) and guitarist Daniel Dekay (from Canadian thrash legends Exciter). The album will be released on September 15, 2023 via AFM Records, the album pre-sale of this must-have rock jewel is available at THIS LOCATION!

On their uplifting new single “Don’t Look Down,” the Southern California-based roots rockers ROBERT JON & THE WRECK offer fans a powerful encouragement to keep their eyes on the prize and focus on the positive. Featured on the band’s upcoming full-length album Ride Into The Light, out August 4th via Joe Bonamassa’s Journeyman Records, the band’s new material finds them reaching a new level of musicianship and songwriting prowess, delivering a fresh take on Rock & Roll while evoking classic artists like The Allman Brothers Band, Eagles, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
“’Don’t Look Down’ was produced by Joe Bonamassa and Josh Smith at Sunset Sound,” shares frontman Robert Jon Burrison. “Lyrically it’s really a ‘get pumped’ type of song, offering encouragement and telling the listener to keep their head up and focus on what’s ahead. This one was a blast to record, as Joe was kind enough to bring some amazing vintage guitars and amps, including a 1959 Gibson Les Paul and a Dumble Amp, both of which can be heard on this track. We also had the pleasure of recording this with legendary session keyboardist, Jeff Babko.”

Packed with blistering blues-rock and sun-soaked Americana ballads, Ride Into The Light is as high-octane as it is soul-stirring, proving that rock & roll is thriving in 2023. Reinvigorating their traditional production process, The Wreck teamed up for this release with the legendary producers Don Was (John Mayer, Bonnie Raitt), Dave Cobb (Brandi Carlile, Chris Stapleton), Kevin Shirley (Iron Maiden, The Black Crowes), and guitar maestros Joe Bonamassa and Josh Smith (Marc Broussard, Eric Gales, Joanne Shaw Taylor). The release of “Don’t Look Down” follows the album’s lead single “West Coast Eyes,” a Sun-Soaked Americana Ballad that evokes the best of Eagles and John Mayer.
Ride Into The Light includes the four tracks featured on the band’s very recent dynamic EP release One Of A Kind, which received rave reviews from all over the world and helped catapult the band’s awareness into new heights. Produced by GRAMMY-Award winners Don Was and Dave Cobb, One Of A Kind showcased Robert Jon & The Wreck’s wide range and dynamic sound, from the instant rock & roll classic “Come At Me” and the captivating, Americana-infused “Who Can You Love,” to the outstanding riff-driven roots rock tracks “Pain No More” and “One Of A Kind.”
