Swedish MANIAK will be releasing their new EP, “Speed Metal Terrorist”, on June 18th 2023 via Dawnbreed and De Nihil Records. Stream the single “Nocturnal Hellfire” at THIS LOCATION.
These young lunatics bring back the sound of Belo Horizonte 1985 mixed with the legendary German mid 80’s violent speed metal sound. Mastered by DanSwanö.
The very future of metal is always brought into question by those who dare to question the worthiness and talent of the younger generations. Such fools do not know what they’re missing out on with the sanctity and respect of the old school veins cared for even today by ferociously passionate and talented bands that will be more than adept at keeping that old flame burning strong. With “Speed Metal Terrorist”, MANIAK instantly proves itself to be an up-and-coming whirlwind of blackened speed metal that is not to be underestimated!
Not a single moment throughout this small but unyielding effort is to be swept to the side as we’re given an utterly compelling barrage of unbridled speed, ripping solos, intensity that only the passionate lost in the underground can bring forward, and a viciously raw production that is sure to capture the attention of those exclusively living in the past.
MANIAK is priming themselves to be a name that is not to be denied when it comes to speed metal that is more than worthy of our time, and “Speed Metal Terrorist” is sure to be the first testament as to why MANIAK will be more than competent to carry the torch of the old school when their time comes to bear it.

Vienna, Austria based Blackened Doom Metal act LOATHER is gearing up for the release of the band’s debut full-length record, entitled “Eis”, which will see the light of day on June 23rd via Vendetta Records. Following the release of the first single “Holler Your Name”, LOATHER have shared the next intense glimpse of the soon to be released album today. Listen to “Mortuary”, below.
The band comments:
“‘Mortuary’ is about looking down into the grave of a beloved person: to feel all of the unseized moments, the lack of possibilities as well as the possibility of absence. It’s the beginning of an end that lives on in the mourning of those left behind. Sonically it continues the journey towards Loathers upcoming debut album ‘Eis’ with hypnotizing rhythms that build themselves up twice to resolve in unforgiving sections of furious double-bass drumming and tremolo picked icicle guitars.“
As the name suggests, “Eis” (German for “ice”) is a rather chilling affair and while it is not a concept album at heart, themes of loss and interpersonal struggle can be heard in the soothing voices and desperate screams strewn across the icy landscape. After releasing a demo and two EPs, LOATHER take their unique brand of Blackened Narcotic Metal into new, sometimes unexpected realms with their upcoming debut – rest assured that the end result will ignite your heart while chilling you to the bone at the same time.
“Eis” will be coming out on June 23rd via Vendetta Records and is available for digital pre-order at THIS LOCATION. Physical formats to follow with the release of the album.
Swedish death metal pioneers DISMEMBER are proud to announce the release of Historia Mortis – an exclusive, striclty limited 12 LP box set, which includes all 8 DISMEMBERstudio albums, the Pieces MLP, the Misanthropic EP, The Complete Demos (1988 – 1990), as well as a separate LP containing assorted rarities. Both Misanthropic and the rarities compilation are exclusive to this set.
The entire audio has been mastered for vinyl by Patrick W. Engel at Temple of Disharmony with the goal to preserve a ‘true to the original’ sound and also contains the more dynamic June ’91 version of Like An Ever Flowing Stream on vinyl for the first time! Only the tracks from the Death Metal sessions have been remastered by Engel, supervised by Fred Estby, and new tape rips were used to restore the group’s earliest recordings. All album layouts were created together with DISMEMBER resulting in a return of the Indecent and Obscene sticker and a new logo arrangement on The God That Never Was. On top of that, Historia Mortis features exclusive artwork by Daniele Valeriani (Mayhem, Dark Funeral), and a 36-page book with rare and previously unseen photos from the band’s private collection, a commented discography, posters, flyers, and more historical content. DISMEMBER‘s Historia Mortis has been a team effort of band, collectors, editors, and label paying homage to one of the most consistent discographies in death metal history on six blue and six yellow LPs.
In addition to the Historia Mortis box set, standalone physical re-issues of the DISMEMBER catalog will be available on CD and Vinyl throughout 2023 via Nuclear Blast Records. Keep your eyes peeled!
Between 1988 and 2011 DISMEMBER earned a notorious reputation as the “Motörhead (version) of death metal”, through eight classic albums and furious live shows around the globe. The band was formed by Robert Sennebäck, David Blomqvist and Fred Estby in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1988 and has long since been regarded as one of the originators of the trademark Swedish death metal sound, next to other pioneering bands such as ENTOMBED, GRAVE and UNLEASHED. DISMEMBER recorded a couple of self-released demos before their 1990 demo cassette, Reborn In Blasphemy, with Matti Kärki on vocals and ENTOMBED’s Nicke Andersson taking over most lead guitar parts, got picked up for a wider release by NUCLEAR BLAST RECORDS. In 1991, their first full-length, Like An Everflowing Stream (Nuclear Blast Records), saw the light of day, which was recorded by Thomas Skogsberg at the now legendary Sunlight Studios, and featured Richard Cabeza (UNANIMATED) on bass. DISMEMBER released their acclaimed sophomore album, Indecent & Obscene, in 1993, which to this day remains their most successful output. Three more albums would follow on NUCLEAR BLAST, Massive Killing Capacity (1995), Death Metal (1997) and Hate Campaign (2000), until the band decided to switch labels. They released two more albums, Where Ironcrosses Grow (2004, Karmageddon Records) and The God That Never Was (2006, Regain) before Fred Estby announced his departure for family reasons in 2007. Their last album, Dismember, followed in 2008 and the band officially broke up in 2011.After an eight-year hiatus, the band’s original line-up reunited for a 30th anniversary gig at Scandinavia Death Fest in October 2019, performing together for the first time in over 20 years. Since then, the band has remained active playing festivals and shows all around the globe, and after relaunching their impressive back catalogue they will set sights on new material.

Roughly three weeks after their great experience at the Eurovision Song Contest, LORD OF THE LOST have since returned to their “normal” life. Following their first festivals and concerts after the event, they are gearing up to play the first of their ten concerts with Iron Maiden in 2023 this Saturday in Finland. In addition, there will be multiple headline and festival shows, as well as concerts with Powerwolf and Amon Amarth, and their very own LORDFEST festival in Hamburg.
Today, the Germans have released the official lyric video for “noituLOVEr”. The song, influenced by the new wave and synth pop sound of the 80s, was released shortly before the ESC as part of the Earbook and Digital Deluxe Edition of the band’s #1-charting album, Blood & Glitter. Shortly after the release, Blood & Glitter entered the Official German Album Charts again at #2.
Chris Harms says: “Lyric videos are not really our thing at all. But for a song like “noituLoVEr”, or “LOVE Revolution” as it is pronounced, where the lyrics are undeniably the most important thing, a lyric video was the only thing that made sense. “LOVE Revolution” is a song for all those who, even nowadays, still feel like they don’t quite fit in, in the prefabricated open puzzle pieces that our society leaves for us. Such as me. It’s equally a song for all those who are responsible for this problem. As long as any diversity in love is not as natural and accepted as breathing, it is important to stand up for the uniqueness of it – and to release songs like these.”
On the band’s eighth album, LORD OF THE LOST enter a new era of exciting 70s glam rock visuals, and add a blend of 80s new wave and pop influences as well as gothic and electronic elements to their own, relevant modern metal style, impressing both fans and critics.

NECROFIER are streaming ‘Burning Shadows in the Southern Night’ in full over on Black Metal Promotion. Bask in the dark and fiery glory of all ten tracks HERE.
‘Burning Shadows in the Southern Night’ makes strides where second albums often stumble. It doubles down on the heavy metal guitar workouts that made this scorching black metal band’s first album unique. But while these Texans still honor the malignant virtues of black metal, this time around, they switched things up by taking an old-school approach to the studio. Their new album was produced by GRAMMY nominee Joel Hamilton, whose nimble hand makes these songs sound lean and thunderous.
“Joel is one of the world’s best engineers” says Christian “Bakka” Larson, the band’s vocalist and guitarist. “He wanted to record something heavy, so we made the trip to New York City to record at legendary Studio G.”
“With a full vintage Neve front end and a host of Telefunken and Neumann microphones, we tracked the record the old way”, adds drummer Dobber Beverly.
With its sweltering melodic leads, lead single “Burnt by the Sacred Flame” already showed what separates NECROFIER from their contemporaries. But the album packs plenty more heat. It opens with ominous piano and mournful, operatic vocals before plummeting into the raging void of “Total Southern Darkness”. “Whispers That Burn in the Dark” is whipped along by blast beats that pound the air like a horde of bats, while the merciless climb of “Destroying Angels” is spearheaded by Bakka’s demonic roar.
“Texas has a style all of its own,” Bakka says. “We are always trying to outdo the rest of the world”.
‘Burning Shadows in the Southern Night” is out today, June 2, 2023. The album can be ordered through the Season of Mist website HERE.
