Kivel Records is excited and proud to announce something we have been secretly working on for quite some time… SCAR CHAMBER! Founded and formed by guitarist Ron Freschi (Babylon A.D.) and lead singer Jeff Winslow, they have compiled an 11 song album of hard hitting Rock N Roll, that showcases Ron’s signature sound that helped forge the music and sound of Babylon A.D.
The album UGLY ON THE INSIDE comes out July 21st on Kivel Records. Pre order your copy at www.kivelrecords.com/store the first 100 copies come with a generous goody bag of limited edition items, including a signed CD! Making this release even more exciting for us, Kivel Records has partnered up with BraveWords Records to service the digital distribution of the album. We love our friends at BraveWords Records and couldn’t be happier with them running with the ball! The first single, UGLY ON THE INSIDE can be purchased and streamed at Bandcamp, along with 24 bit hi-res digital pre-orders for the entire album. Visit bravewordsrecords.bandcamp.com
This isn’t the same old same old for Ron though, and it certainly isn’t his experimental art album. This is an extension of what people have come to expect and love about his playing and songwriting. Where he is pushing his boundaries, but without changing who he is. Teamed with Jeff, this is a dynamic rock n roll duo that brings it. Joining Ron and Jeff is Dylan Soto on drums (Babylon A.D.). He brings his hard hitting energy and entertaining live show to the band, which will no doubt help keep the beat for this outfit. After the album was completed the band needed a bass player that would be able to match the needed energy on stage with the rest of the group. Enter seasoned bass player and fan favorite, Jaron Gulino (Lynch Mob/Heavens Edge) helping finalize the line up.
Scar Chamber’s sound is a dark and edgy Rock N Roll rollercoaster ride for fans of bands like Babylon A.D., Lynch Mob and Harem Scarem. Get in, buckle up, keep your head down and enjoy the ride.
Follow the link to the band’s first video and title track from their upcoming album, UGLY ON THE INSIDE, which was Mixed and Mastered by Kivel Records fave producer, Ty Sims. (Tango Down, Bombay Black, House of Lords, Robin Beck and more!) VIDEO:
The band’s video was shot in LA and produced by Video Director: Vicente Cordero of Industrialism Films. It was a pleasure to work with Vicente and his team, as he has created so many amazing videos with acts such as Black Veil Brides, Mr Big, Richie Kotzen, Queensryche, Nita Strauss and so many others.

On Wednesday, June 24th Canadian roots, rock, and soul band Bywater Call released “Is This Thing On?”, leading up to the July 29th release of their highly anticipated fourth studio album Broken Souvenirs featuring the critically acclaimed singles “No One Else”, “Only” and “Hold Me Down.” The album is available to pre-order HERE.
Due to popular demand, two new dates have been added to Bywater Call’s January and February 2027 UK Tour. The band will now play Milton Keynes’ the Stables on February 1st, and Newcastle’s Anarchy Brew on February 7th. Tickets for all UK shows are available from The Gig Cartel, Gigantic, and Bywater Call.
“Is This Thing On?” is a haunting, soul-stirring blend of soul, Americana, blues, and folk — gritty, intimate, and emotionally charged. Built around beautifully arranged acoustic guitar, sweeping strings, and a raw, magnetic vocal performance, the song lays bare the vulnerability of sending art out into the world: exposed, unguarded, and searching for connection. It captures the quiet fear that, after pouring your heart and soul into something, no one may be listening.
The single’s minimalist arrangement gives the song room to breathe, allowing the listener to fully absorb its storytelling and emotional weight. It stands as one of Bywater Call’s most powerful musical statements to date, offering a compelling glimpse of the depth, maturity, and artistry that define their forthcoming album, Broken Souvenirs.
“Is This Thing On?” has already become a fan favourite at live shows, inspiring a call and response between the band and the audience.
Drawing inspiration from the raw storytelling of Shakey Graves, Sierra Ferrell, Brandi Carlile, and Jason Isbell, “Is This Thing On?” sits firmly within the emotional landscape of Broken Souvenirs. Rich in atmosphere and detail, the song places storytelling at its core, painting vivid scenes that invite listeners to step inside its world and carry its imagery long after the final note fades.
The song reflects Bywater Call’s commitment to blending timeless influences with fresh, contemporary sounds, while continuing to define a musical space entirely their own. That spirit of evolution and experimentation runs through Broken Souvenirs, capturing the emotional intensity, musicianship, and driving Bywater Call’s energy and conviction that fans have come to love.
“Is This Thing On?” was recorded at Palace Studios in Toronto, mixed by Patric McGroarty, and mastered by Kristian Montano of Montano Mastering. The official video for the single was choreographed and directed by Chelsea Preston and filmed by Badee Mirkham.
Broken Souvenirs delivers a captivating 11-song collection that captures Bywater Call at their most versatile, adventurous, and emotionally charged. Expanding beyond the boundaries of genre, the album deepens the band’s distinctive voice while embracing a bold, wide-ranging sound. Drawing on influences from Black Pumas, Alabama Shakes, Amy Winehouse, Shakey Graves, The Black Crowes and more, Broken Souvenirs moves effortlessly from feel-good retro soul and intimate acoustic moments to driving contemporary R&B, creating a rich, dynamic journey from start to finish.
Renowned for transcending genre boundaries, Bywater Call has built a reputation for electrifying, emotionally charged live performances driven by powerhouse vocals and thrilling interplay between all seven band members. In early 2026, the band earned their third consecutive UK Blues Awards nomination for “International Act of the Year”, following previous nominations in 2025 and 2024.
Classic Rock made Bywater Call’s 2024 studio album Shepherd their “Blues Album of the Month” and said it was “an inventive and uncommonly catchy record. the sense of a band on the brink is unmistakable.” Shepherd was also voted “Top Blues Album of the Year” in Classic Rock’s year-end round-up.

Bywater Call was nominated for the “2025 UK Blues Award” for “International Blues Artist of the Year” for the third consecutive year, alongside artists including Beth Hart and Walter Trout. The band has also received multiple Independent “Blues and Canadian Maple Blues Award” nominations including “Entertainer,” “Electric Act,” and “Best Female Vocalist” at the 2024 Awards Season.

THE XCERTS share “bury you,” the latest single from their forthcoming sixth album, ‘i think i want to go home now.,‘ out July 10th via FLG Records. To mark the release, the band will embark on a run of intimate in-store shows across the UK throughout July, including dates at Rough Trade Nottingham, Crash Records in Leeds, and Assai in Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Aberdeen.
The band has also been confirmed as special guests to Twin Atlantic, who will tour throughout October. All support dates and in-stores are listed below.
The song arrives towards the end of the album’s emotional arc, and carries with it a shift in register – less about the weight of what’s been endured and more about what to do with it. Written in the closing stages of the record, “bury you” is a song about tough love: the kind of honest, unflinching conversation that close friends have with each other when things get hard, and the kind you eventually have with yourself. Lyrically, it walks the line between addressing someone else and addressing himself – the chorus functions as both an instruction outward and a reminder inward.
Speaking about the track, Macleod says:
“Towards the end of the writing process, I was taking stock, and I wanted something that had – what’s the right way to put it? – not a sense of hope, but something that’s almost meant to feel like a sobering conversation. I had a lot of those with close friends of mine who were also having tough times during that period, so I wanted to have a song that represents tough love. It also acts as a reflective conversation and a statement of intent for myself. ‘This ain’t your first rodeo’ is a funny line, but I’ve found myself saying it a lot, and it’s true.”
The album was written by all three members together in a room, something the band had not done since their early records, and that closeness is felt throughout. Recorded by Larry Hibbitt at Beehive Studios, its ten songs document two years of genuine turbulence, including the passing of bassist Jordan Smith‘s mother and Macleod‘s father’s cancer diagnosis, processed in real time and in company.
‘i think i want to go home now.‘ arrives July 10th via FLG Records.

Long celebrated for her haunting vocals, immersive dynamics and striking emotional clarity, WILLIAMS expands her sonic world with an album that moves like a ritual through changing seasons. Guitars churn like gathering weather, strings glow with fragile warmth, and her voice unfolds from restrained intimacy into commanding emotional force.
“Solstice” captures A.A. WILLIAMS at a creative turning point. Inspired by years of global touring, acclaimed collaborations and genre-defying reinterpretations, the album finds her fully embracing both vulnerability and power.
Balancing crushing heaviness with moments of startling beauty, “Solstice” invites listeners into a world where silence can feel as immense as sound itself. It is intimate, dramatic and quietly radiant — music for endings, beginnings and the long road between the two.

About A.A. WILLIAMS
Having made her debut live appearance at the prestigious Roadburn Festival in the Netherlands off the back of a self-titled EP, A.A. Williams has since toured across the globe with the likes of Cult of Luna, Explosions In The Sky, Russian Circles, Sleep Token and The Sisters of Mercy, as well as establishing herself as a headline artist – including a show at the iconic Queen Elizabeth Hall inside London’s Southbank Centre.
Standout festival appearances have dovetailed with two album releases – 2020’s “Forever Blue” and 2022’s “As The Moon Rests” (both on UK indie label Bella Union), which received widespread critical acclaim and put A.A. Williams firmly in the slipstream of the wave of female vocalists taking textured, epic and folk-rooted heavy music into new and progressive directions. A BBC session at the legendary Maida Vale Studios only bolstered Williams’ credentials.
Not one to rest on her laurels, she has also released a selection of ‘companion pieces’ – a collaborative single with Japanese post-rock titans MONO (‘Exit In Darkness’); a solo covers collection recorded during 2020’s pandemic lockdown – “Songs From Isolation” – that garnered praise from The Cure’s Robert Smith and Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan for her unique take on their original songs; and perhaps most impressively, 2021’s ‘arco’ saw the multi-instrumentalist completely rework her debut EP from rock instrumentation to a string ensemble, utilising her classical training and arrangement skills to stunning effect.
In June 2026, A.A. Williams returned with new album “Solstice” – her boldest and most cohesive record to date. Described by Kerrang! as “impossible to ignore” and Invisible Oranges as a “majestic return to life”, “Solstice” catapulted Williams further into the heavy music sphere, aligning with her new home at Reigning Phoenix Music (Opeth, Meshuggah). Now touring with the likes of A Perfect Circle and Chelsea Wolfe, A.A. Williams looks ahead as an artist ready to captivate almost any audience.
Bangalore Choir has signed a worldwide deal with El Puerto Records.
David Reece has revived his former cult band and will release the new album through the pirate label El Puerto Records, which has literally landed a real “big fish”! Reece has also brought his longtime collaborator Andy Susemihl (ex-U.D.O., ex-Sinner…) back on board. The new album is set to be released in 2026!
If the Paramount+ documentary “Nöthin’ But a Good Time” is to be believed, BANGALORE CHOIR is arguably the last great band of the golden Sunset Strip era, which produced bands like Mötley Crüe, Guns N’ Roses, and Poison. Despite all the scandals that ultimately brought that musical era to an end, many people still long for the days when the heart of heavy metal beat in Los Angeles. David Reece has taken this heart back into his hands and breathed new life into it—much to the delight of Bangalore Choir fans worldwide—because even grunge couldn’t completely erase the lightheartedness and joy of that era.
David Reece: “Greetings everyone! David Reece here of Bangalore Choir with great news! Yes I’ve returned to the family of El Puerto records because after long consideration I felt the need to be able to work with a company that listens to my ideas, contributes their ideas and work together to deliver the best record possible.I have as many know released many records through El Puerto and have full faith in them to get the next Bangalore Choir record out and available to you all.I would like to mention the return of the great Andy Susemihl on lead and rhythm guitar and background vocals as well as two new friends well known in the industry. On lead and rhythm guitar Steve Gordon MIA and on drums Tommy McWilliams.Steve and Tommy and I worked tirelessly to write a great follow up to the Bangalore Choir album Rapid fire succession On Target part 2 and I really feel we’ve knocked it out of the park on this one! Also on bass the great Gorka Alegre returns fasten your seatbelts rockers!”
Label Boss Bernd Stelzer: “We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Bangalore Choir to the El Puerto Records family. David Reece is a phenomenal vocalist, and their upcoming material is pure melodic rock gold. Get ready for something big!“

Italian black metal one man horde Hesperia has just announced the new album Picenum (True Marchigian Black Metal Renaissance), which will be released on 28th August via Hammerheart Records. In celebration, the first single ‘1375, La Lega Maledetta: I Signori Da Varano Si Ribellano Alla Chiesa’ is now streaming on all digital platforms.
Picenum (True Marchigian Black Metal Renaissance) is the natural continuation of Fra Li Monti Sibillini, expanding its concept to the entire Marche region (the title Picenum indicates the ancient name for a large part of this region). The album is set mostly in the late Middle Ages but also at the beginning of the Renaissance (here highlighted in its darker sides, experienced through the darkness of the region).
Listen to ‘1375, La Lega Maledetta: I Signori Da Varano Si Ribellano Alla Chiesa’ here:
After a brief intro about the region’s ancient origins, the album is divided into three parts:
• The first is dedicated to the history and the very dark legends of the region Marche: the Da Varano Lords who rebelled against the church by joining the Cursed League in 1375; the history and legend of the Rocca di Pitino (Pitino Fortress) and its deconsecrated church and cemetery; the history and legend of the very dark Roccaccia (The Ugly Fortress) and its warlord necromancer, a servant of the devil.
• The second is dedicated to the folklore and legends of my region: lu lupu mannà (the Marchigian werewolf), the Mazzamurello (a dark Marchigian sprite), the Sdrega (the Marchigian witch), before returning once again to the Sibilline Mountains… In this part, Hesperus’ grandmother’s voice (R.I.P.) narrates these folklore legends a couple of times (she knew quite a few).
• The third and longest part is, in fact, a continuation that closes the circle with the previous album, and the part is “Ritorno fra li monti Sibillini” (Return to the Sibilline Mountains), with two tracks focusing on the goat-fairies and the Sibylla, and another two tracks that speak of the geographical novel of the Chevalier De la Sale, a real historical figure who was tasked with exploring the Sibilline Mountains and understanding what was inside the Sibylla’s cave (thus, not a knight from an epic poem like in the previous album); he truly met the inhabitants of Montemonaco (Mons Daemoniacus) who led him to the vestibule of the Sibylla’s cave (on the summit of Monte Sibilla) and told him numerous stories of those who entered the cave, including that of a German knight who returned because he was not forgiven by the Church and remained there… forever (the last track: the final 12’ suite).
Stylistically, the album has many similarities with the previous record (medieval black metal in the vein of ‘90s) but adds some Renaissance parts and some ‘80s proto black metal passages. As you will notice, there are folk/ambient interludes as in the previous album, but they are not on separate tracks; they are at the end of each track (incorporated into the tracks even if they appear in the tracklist).
Track-list: 1. Ver Sacrum: Picus Martius Picenos In Picenum Ducit (Prologo) 2. 1375, La Lega Maledetta: I Signori Da Varano Si Ribellano Alla Chiesa 3. Castrum Pitini: II Castello Sopra La Necropoli Picena E Il Cimitero 4. La Leggenda Della Roccaccia: Il Necromante Signore Della Guerra 5. Lu Lupu Mannà 6. La Sdrega 7.
