Finnish symphonic metal band VOV returns with Drunk At The Opera, a theatrical and emotionally charged new single that blends operatic grandeur with darkly elegant storytelling. The song draws the listener into a decadent final performance, where tragedy, memory, and defiance take center stage beneath the glow of chandeliers and fading applause.
Musically, Drunk At The Opera unfolds as a cinematic composition, combining sweeping orchestration, melodic metal foundations, and classically inspired vocals. The arrangement moves fluidly between restraint and excess, allowing the drama to breathe while building toward moments of overwhelming intensity. Each listen reveals new details in the layered instrumentation, reinforcing the song’s operatic character and immersive atmosphere.
Composition & lyrics by Karoliina McLoud, Teemu Harjunen, Petteri Rosenbom, Sami Halinen & Juha-Tapio Anttonen
Vocalist Karoliina McLoud, classically trained in opera, delivers a commanding and expressive performance that anchors the song’s narrative. Her voice carries both elegance and fracture, embodying the role of a fallen diva facing the final curtain. Guitarist Teemu Harjunen balances melodic precision with dramatic weight, while Sami Halinen expands the sonic scope through deep bass lines and symphonic keyboard textures. Drummer Juha-Tapio Anttonen delivers a powerful and dynamic performance, providing a solid yet expressive foundation that carries the song through its shifting emotional landscapes.
Lyrically, Drunk At The Opera tells the story of an aging diva offering her last performance to death itself. The song moves through irony, bitterness, and self-awareness, blurring the line between grandeur and collapse. Humor and sorrow intertwine as the protagonist raises a glass to lost love, shattered dignity, and the theatricality of her own downfall. The opera becomes both refuge and reckoning—a place where every failure is sung as an aria, and every silence speaks louder than applause.
Commenting on the release, the band states: “Drunk At The Opera is a song about performance, pride, and letting go. It is dramatic and self-aware, tragic and theatrical at the same time. We wanted to embrace the excess of opera while allowing the human fragility beneath it to remain visible.”
VOV is a Finnish symphonic metal band known for combining classical influences with melodic metal and narrative-driven songwriting. Their music explores themes of identity, loss, dignity, and existential conflict, often framed through cinematic and mythic imagery.

SYLOSIShave announced a formidable 6-date, co-headline run across the UK and Ireland in January 2027 with American deathcore bruisers Whitechapel. 200 Stab Wounds and Tribal Gaze will be joining as supports.
This devastating package will also hit mainland Europe, with Whitechapel headlining these shows and Sylosis supporting.
“Following the success of the recent New Flesh headline tour, we really wanted to get back around the UK and mainland Europe as soon as possible. When we knew there was a chance to team up with Whitechapel, we knew this was the obvious choice! They’ve been around for a long time, much like ourselves, and have consistently released brilliant albums. It’s been great to see them do so well over recent years. We will co-headline in the UK, then head out as special guests in Europe alongside 200 Stab Wounds and Tribal Gaze. Another 2 bands that are absolutely killing it right now. This is one hell of a package and an opportunity to bring more songs from The New Flesh into a live environment in some of our favourite markets. Don’t sleep on tickets! See you out there – Josh, Ali, Ben, Conor”

Last month, Sylosis released their career-defining record The New Flesh. The album is a towering testament to destructive riffing, incisive melody and refined brute force. The band’s seventh full-length offering is a powerful showcase for the state of Sylosis in 2026: lethal, uncompromising, and avowedly metal as all hell.

When the going gets tough, metal gets heavier. SYLOSIS have always been devoted to the fine art of breaking necks, but in recent times, the urgency of their mission has grown exponentially. Still surfing on a wave of acclaim and the effusive fan response to their last album, 2023’s A Sign Of Things To Come, Josh Middleton’s virtuoso wrecking crew are poised to release their latest and best album, The New Flesh. A towering testament to destructive riffing, incisive melody and refined brute force, the band’s seventh full-length offering is a powerful showcase for the state of SYLOSIS in 2026: lethal, uncompromising, and avowedly metal as all hell.
The New Flesh is a fearsome statement of renewed intent. Harder, heavier and more ruthless than its predecessor, it is full of the kind of explosive, riff-driven anthems that guarantee carnage in the pit. But this is no exercise in mindless bludgeon: instead, Josh Middleton has penned his most evocative and thought-provoking songs to date. From the punishing grooves and breakneck viciousness of the opening ‘Beneath The Surface‘, to the epic conflagration of album closer ‘Seeds In The River‘, The New Flesh is an artful and nuanced take on the pure metal that SYLOSIS hold close to their hearts. This is brutality and catchiness in perfect symbiosis.
Dark and destructive, but dynamic and diligent, SYLOSIS are on blistering, career-best form on The New Flesh. The purposeful reset that began with The Sign Of Things To Come has evolved into something unstoppable, and the band’s latest work brims with confidence and authority. If it’s skull-shattering, 21st century heavy metal you want, The New Flesh brings it like never before.
For over thirty years, the US/French-Canadian powerhouse KATAKLYSM has unleashed waves of unapologetic melodic death metal upon the world. This summer, the syndicate embarks on a massive 32-date co-headlining tour alongside SIX FEET UNDER, with support from WORMHOLE. Launching July 8th in Detroit, the trek cuts through major markets like New York, Houston, and Los Angeles—including eight Canadian dates where KATAKLYSM will headline—before concluding in Chicago on August 11th.
KATAKLYSM‘s Maurizio Iacono states, “It’s been an interesting year for Kataklysm, reconnecting with some longtime touring allies. Last year we hit the road with Vader again — the first time in 20 years since we last toured together. Now the story continues as we join forces once more for a co-headlining tour with buddies Six Feet Under, another band we last toured with back in the early 2000s. We’re looking forward to closing out the North American touring cycle for our latest campaign and pummeling our way across the U.S. and Canada. See you there, metalheads!”

KATAKLYSM‘s latest assault, Goliath, was forged across JFD Studios (Dallas/Studio City) and The Cabin (Orlando) by producer/engineer J-F Dagenais. For mixing and mastering, the band reunited with Chris Clancy and the legendary Colin Richardson. To visually capture the album’s central theme of David vs. Goliath, the band enlisted world-renowned illustrator Eliran Kantor (Testament, Fleshgod Apocalypse). Kantor’s work provides a macabre filter that perfectly mirrors the brooding uneasiness and raw power of the recording sessions.
New York death metal legends IMMOLATION are reaching a fever pitch as they prepare to unleash Descent. Their twelfth studio album arrives April 10th via Nuclear Blast Records, just as the band kicks off a North American tour alongside label mates BEHEMOTH.
Today, the band release the second single, ‘Attrition’; a masterclass in tension. Defined by its crushing groove and volatile tempo shifts the track opens with a crawling, mid-paced groove that eventually gives way to stunning tempo shifts, culminating in a bone-shattering finale. This is dark death metal at its most cinematic—equal parts atmospheric depth and sheer, crushing brutality proving IMMOLATION remains the gold standard of the genre.
IMMOLATION comments: “We are excited to release, ‘Attrition’, another new track from our upcoming album, Decent. This song is a dark, powerful heavy track with plenty of intensity. “Attrition” has a dismal, hopeless atmosphere…as it focuses on the senseless wars and battles for territory that mankind seems to constantly repeat, no matter what the cost. The drum work by Steve Shalaty is a key component in this song as it emphasizes the overall emotion of the track, with not only a militant feel, but unique rhythmic cymbal work and other twists that bring the musical parts to life. ‘Attrition’ is a good example of the diverse nature of Descent. A catchy, yet explosive track with all the IMMOLATION elements. We hope you enjoy ‘Attrition’!”
Descent was captured across two locations: Justin Passamonte tracked guitars, bass, and vocals at Jpass Music, while drums wererecorded at Mercinary Studios with Noah Buchanan. The production was a collaborative effort between the band and long-time engineer Zack Ohren, who also handled the mixing and mastering. The result is a muscular, high-fidelity production that captures the band’s most fiery and brooding moments with equal clarity. To call Descent “heavy” or “brutal” is an understatement; this is death metal with a unique, elevated voice that stands entirely alone.
Visually, the band has once again tapped Eliran Kantor to craft a haunting cover masterpiece—a true hallmark of the Immolation aesthetic— complemented by Santiago Jaramillo’s (Triple Seis Design) internal booklet illustrations. With this release, IMMOLATION reinforces their status as one of the most enduring and vital forces in the genre.

‘You Or Me‘ is the latest single from American heavy metal icons CORROSION OF CONFORMITY. The crushing new track comes off the band’s mammoth new double album, Good God / Baad Man, set for release on April 3rd via Nuclear Blast and is accompanied by a video created by acclaimed visual arts icon Costin Chioreanu with additional footage filmed by Mike Holderbeast.
“With ‘You Or Me,’ CORROSION OF CONFORMITY are back at the top of their game. This blistering, Sabbed out track is an angry acid trip into the origins of the human condition since the dawn of man. In these primitive times, it’s clear to say they haven’t learned much. So Black it’s Blue.” – Lucifer
Adds the band, “Deep from within the forests of Romania and the twisted mind of our dear friend Costin Chioreanu comes his twisted visions put to CORROSION’s music. It’s a match made in purgatory. There’s some special additions from [director] Mike Holderbeast’s crew as well.”

Last month, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY introduced Good God / Baad Man with their debut single, ‘Gimme Some Moore‘. The track features backing vocals from Ministry’s Al Jourgensen as well as Madonna guitarist Monte Pittman. Revolver wrote, “CORROSION OF CONFORMITY are doubling down on their unique brand of heaviness this year… with the release of a Southern-sludgy barnburner… ‘Gimme Some Moore’ is apparently on the pissed-off first LP.” Consequence concurred noting, “The track is a throwback to COC’s punk era in the ’80s, barreling forward as Pepper Keenan delivers grizzled lead vocals,” while MetalSucks championed, “an absolute ass stomper. Riff on riff on riff. The drums, handled by the great Stanton Moore, are pounding and drive the whole shebang forward, and the solo’s a ripper. Pepper doesn’t sound like he’s lost a step at all since the release of 2018’s No Cross No Crown. It really does feel like a continuation of In The Arms of God – which absolutely fucking rules.”
Produced by Grammy award winner Warren Riker (Fugees, Down, Cathedral) and featuring cover art by famed New Orleans artist Scott Guion, Good God / Baad Man was recorded at Blak Shak Studios in Riffissippi, USA, Dockside Studios in Maurice, Louisiana, and Bee Gee Barry Gibb’s home studio in Miami, Florida.
Good God / Baad Man will be released on digipak CD and digital formats as well as vinyl in the following colour variants:
Gatefold 2xLP w/ Belly Strip – Black Vinyl (Retail)
2 Separate Jacket LPs w/ Belly Strip – LP 1 Blue/LP 2 Red (Mail Order + Band Exclusive)
Additionally, limited quantities of the band’s ‘Gimme Some Moore’ seven-inch are available at the band’s website HERE.
In support of Good God / Baad Man, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY will return to stages this Spring on a North American headlining tour with support provided by Whores and Crobot. The journey begins with a pair of headlining shows on April 7th and April 8th in Atlanta and Greensboro respectively, with Whores. From there, the band will head to Sayreville on April 9th to join Clutch for a run of dates through May 3rd in Asheville (with additional support by JD Pinkus). CORROSION OF CONFORMITY reconvenes with Whores on May 5th in Toronto and May 6th in Montreal with Crobot joining the caravan for all remaining dates through May 16th in New Orleans.
In June, the band will head to Europe and the United Kingdom for another run of live shows. In August, they’ll pillage the European festival circuit with more dates to be announced both stateside and abroad in the weeks to come.

More on CORROSION OF CONFORMITY:
Much has gone down in the CORROSION OF CONFORMITY universe since their last album smacked us upside the head. Back in 2018, when No Cross No Crown dropped like a rock ‘n’ roll atom bomb, the tried-and-true CORROSION OF CONFORMITY line-up of Pepper Keenan (vocals, guitar), Woody Weatherman (guitar), Reed Mullin (drums), and Mike Dean (bass) was still going strong. Four brothers united in a decades-long history kicked off by a roving pack of teenage punks in Raleigh, North Carolina circa 1982.
CORROSION OF CONFORMITY’s first four albums left a permanent mark on headbangers, longhairs, and street punks everywhere: Underground classics Eye For An Eye (1984) and Animosity (1985) followed by slightly more overground bangers Blind (1991) and Deliverance (1994). By the time CORROSION OF CONFORMITY carved off No Cross No Crown nearly a quarter century later, they were legends in their own time, revered by two generations of punk, metal, and rock fans.
Then tragedy struck: In January 2020, Reed Mullin left this earthly plane. It was a devastating blow, both personally and professionally. How do you replace a brother? You can’t. All you can do is soldier on in his memory. Which is what the rest of CORROSION OF CONFORMITY did – until COVID-19 shut down the globe. Then Mike Dean decided to go his own way. It was an amicable split, but it left Pepper and Woody to contemplate their next move. They hunkered down at Keenan’s place in Mississippi, listening to all the music they love. Discharge. ZZ Top. Motörhead. Neil Young. Black Sabbath.
They started writing. They didn’t stop; not for a long time. In fact, they composed a massive double album. “As we went on, we had such a crazy plethora of songs, it was almost like two different directions,” Pepper says. “We knew we had to split it into two different albums. Then we came up with this concept.”
The concept happens to be the title of the record. It’s called Good God / Baad Man. “Our producer, Warren Riker, kept calling it Dark Side Of The Doom,” recalls Pepper.“In my head, it’s a weird love letter to all things rock ‘n’ roll. We used that for the freedom to go in different directions. Each album is its own tiny universe and has its own identity. Good God leans toward the heavier/pissed end of the spectrum. Baad Man is more on the throwdown rock scope. As we went along, it became clear which songs went on which album.”
They brought in drummer Stanton Moore, who played on CORROSION OF CONFORMITY’s 2005 album, In The Arms Of God. They brought in bassist Bobby “Rock” Landgraf, who did time with Pepper in New Orleans heavyweights Down when he wasn’t terrorizing the locals in his own band, Honky. “With a lot of these songs, we’re trying to make Reed Mullin proud,” Pepper says. “He was a badass, and a one-of-a-kind drummer. And the stakes were high.”
