Finnish progressive metal band Rioghan is set to release the second studio album ‘Kept’ on February 14th 2025 via Inverse Records. The third single ‘Distance’ is released today and it’s available on all essential streaming services: https://push.fm/fl/rioghan-distance
Rioghan comments:
” ‘Distance’ paints a soul wrenching story of misplaced trust. You are invited to enter a dream, where eventually things are not what they seem and it ominously turns into a nightmare. Music-wise this song was written with Vikram Shankar, where we experimented with dark pop elements and huge contrasts, and made the softness turn seamlessly to a destructive force.
Composed by Vikram Shankar & Jenni Perämäki

Arranged by Teemu Liekkala,Tero Luukkonen, Antti Varjanne, Valtteri Revonkorpi

About the Wheel-tour: Now when the tour is over, we were left with yearning back to the stages. The shows really were the highlight of this year, and also the people from Wheel were so friendly and welcoming toward us – like their fans too! We couldn’t have had a better crew to try out our first tour. Hope there’ll be much more to come!”
Rioghan is a fresh breeze to progressive metal scene from Finland. The band consists of singer Rioghan Darcy, guitarists Teemu Liekkala and Tero Luukkonen, bassist Antti Varjanne and drummer Valtteri Revonkorpi.
Their debut album ‘Different Kinds Of Losses’ was made in collaboration with Jonas Renkse (Katatonia), Einar Solberg (Leprous) and Teemu Koskela (ex-Celesty), and it was rolled out during 2022 sparking interest widely. The singles got airtime in Finland and also internationally, and after the album release in December, Rioghan’s monthly listeners on Spotify peaked at 40 000. The songs also got into multiple Spotify editorial playlists.
Live line-up was put into action in 2023, and this autumn Rioghan returned to stages supporting Wheel on their Charismatic Leaders -tour, bringing their stellar show to Tampere, Kuopio, Helsinki, Jyväskylä, Lahti, and Oulu. Fans’ welcome was spectacular, and their energetic show brought a lot of new fans too.
Rioghan started out as a solo project by singer and poetess Rioghan Darcy, based in Lapua, Finland. After years of writing poetry and lyrics, Rioghan was founded in 2019 with an intention to fleshen up some of her words with music. After a while, it grew into a trio with Teemu Liekkala (guitars, bass, keys, production) and Valtteri Revonkorpi (drums) added as permanent stars for the band, and in 2024 guitarist Tero Luukkonen and bassist Antti Varjanne also officially joined the band from live line-up. Rooted deeply in both gothic and progressive metal scenes, they sure should bring something interesting on the table.
The OddEven are an Alternative Metal Post Grunge band known for riff-oriented hard rock with a massive groove and hypnotic kick that will spin you around on your barstool and get you to your feet in a jam-packed arena. The band just premiered a new music video for their arena-worthy power ballad entitled “Come Home“; the first single & music video taken from their upcoming full-length album Outer Space Outtakes which will be released on March 14, 2025 via Eclipse Records. The album was produced by Weed and E.T., alongside Frank Marchand (Fiona Apple, Nils Lofgren) at Waterford Digital, and mastered by Alan Douches (Mastodon, Monster Magnet, Fleetwood Mac) at West West Side Music.
“The video for Come Home is about a woman making her way back home after straying/breaking up”, says bass guitarist Jon Weed. “While the guy may think getting back together with her is a move toward happiness again, she is the devil in disguise. This is the first single we released with aggressive alternative/hard rock, power ballad sensibility. The message to fans is to always be careful going back to something that was toxic in the past, because there is a very good chance that the second time around will be worse than the first… Unless you are prepared to dance with the devil, you should run the other way as quickly as possible!”
Outer Space Outtakes, the sensational new album by the alternative metal post grunge band, The OddEven, is a groove-centered guitar party that brings us deep into the fold of the unknown, getting twisted and high, raucous and rebellious, as if the sky was suddenly filled with dark spirits from other worlds dancing in the afterimage of our own flashing shadows. Lyrically, The OddEven delves into fantastic alien encounters as much as the paradoxical truths about complex relationships. Altogether, the album covers a broad spectrum of imagination and emotion, all thematically tied to the idea that we must set ourselves free of the chains of toxicity. Outer Space Outtakes is a journey that forges its own fantastical path along the road of reality that twists and turns beneath a scatter of stars. The first focus track, “Come Home,” is about hope and recollection, as the second single, “First Encounter,” is a glorious guitar-fest made for space junkies, metal heads, rockers, and goths. The third exceptional focus track is titled “Innocent,” and it mesmerizes us like sirens of the sea and witches in the wind. Altogether, Weed (bass) and E.T. (guitar) write songs that were made to make you get your groove on, featuring first, that bass sound that pounds like a thundering heartbeat pinning the meter. Jim Chaney (drums) plays in a way that is somehow both “heart-stopping metal” and “addictive funk-a-licious,” and Grant Walker (vocals) hits us with hypnotic harmonies that cast spells, end wars, spread love, and charm snakes. And E.T. plays that heavy rhythm guitar like a monster truck in a monastery and those wailing lead tracks that make us feel like we have rocket-jets under our heels and starlight blasting out of our eyes. The album was produced by Weed and E.T., alongside Frank Marchand (Fiona Apple, Nils Lofgren) at Waterford Digital, and mastered by Alan Douches (Mastodon, Monster Magnet, Fleetwood Mac) at West West Side Music. Outer Space Outtakes will be released on March 14, 2025 by Eclipse Records.
Swiftly following up the success of her last single, a distinctive cover of “Tainted Love” (Grace Jones, Soft Cell), Arizona-based singer-songwriter Jeordie today releases “Sunset Strip.”
A long-time live favorite, the song has now been transplanted from its original setting of Vegas to the heart of Hollywood, as master remixer Jurgen Engler steps into what was already a gorgeous slice of moody nostalgia, and layers electronics and echo to transform it utterly. Think Tess Parks fronting the Shangri-Las, and you won’t be far wrong.
Shot on Sunset Strip itself, the accompanying lyric video only emphasizes the song’s magical qualities. Producer Holly West explains:
“This song embodies a strong California essence, with its lyrics and the varied vocal and instrumental effects creating a whimsical journey that evokes a vibrant and youthful atmosphere.
“I typically do not feature live actors in my lyric videos, [but] the clarity of my vision upon hearing the song was undeniable. I reached out to a friend whom I knew would resonate with this feeling, and coincidentally, I was with another friend who was perfectly attired for the concept.
“I explained the vibe I envisioned, and they danced along the strip while I followed them with the camera. The entire shoot was brief, lasting around ten minutes. The true magic occurred during the editing process; by slowing down the footage to evoke a sense of nostalgia, I believe we perfectly captured the intended vibe. I’m very happy how this video turned out!”
The daughter of the late Woodstock icon Melanie Safka, Jeordie is currently working towards a new album for release by Cleopatra during 2025. She will also be heard on the upcoming children’s album Lullabies From Heaven, recorded with her mother and siblings.
Runopatia formed in 2008 as an avant-garde black metal project, with its own interpretation of this genre. Emotional hypersensitivity, influencing the need for expression, which does not conform to any norms and limitations, except for its own, remains consciously the most important constant in the band’s identity. As time passes, spectre alike lurking in a void between the records, only emphasizes the archaic nature and selflessness of Runopatia’s and its member’s work.
Musicians of Runopatia about upcoming record: “Technically, “Archaistia” remains easiest to follow, catchy, if you will, Runopatia record to this day and stays so, due all but simplest form and composition of the tracks. Main factor, probably, being responsible for how this EP found to represent itself at the end, is simply because it was predicted to be recorded, yet unplanned in a core, but at the same time, changed drastically somehow spontaneous, at the very late stage.
Visually, simultaneously, it is no less rooted in archaic, townsfolks atmosphere of the times that were never lived, but recognized as a view from renaissance woodcuts in printed fairy tales. Tearing us from reality into telling stories and poems of infinite imagination.“
Music was recorded, mixed and mastered by Przemysław Nowak at Impressive-Art Studio (Odraza, Asgaard, Outre, Totenmesse). “Archaista” EP will be released digitally (pre-save) and as limited CD on December 13, 2024 by Polish underground label TDM Archivist. Pre-order is available via Bandcamp.
Today, before official release together with Black Metal Promotion we invite you to exclusive pre-listening of RUNOPATIA upcoming EP.
