Prosthetic Records are thrilled to announce the signing of multinational cybergrind band THOTCRIME. Composed of members hailing from Champaign-Urbana, IL, Philadelphia, PA and Nottingham, UK, THOTCRIME will be releasing their second album, D1G1T4L_DR1FT via the Los Angeles label on October 28. Lead single, Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria, is streaming now along with an accompanying music video.
Speaking on the album announcement, K. Salmon (producer) comments: “The new album represents us moving into new territories musically. Over the last few split releases we’ve been exploring the world of heavy guitar music and electronic music a lot further outside the field of the sounds on our debut album. We really feel that this album brings together all those new sounds in a powerful and cohesive way.”
Of the lead single, Malady Jane (guitar) adds: “Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria shows the sort of approach we’ve taken with our new album, drawing from our loves of both heavy guitar-oriented music and more electronic pop and dance styles. Lyrically, the song deals with the way that neurodivergence and mental illness can make you feel the world is out to get you.”
THOTCRIME’s prolific output to date has seen the band generate a buzz in online music communities and garner praise from Bandcamp Daily in the publication’s profile on the burgeoning cybergrind movement at large. D1G1T14L_DR1FT, the follow up to 2020s ønyøurcømputer, sees THOTCRIME continue to gleefully abandon genre convention in favour of boundless individuality and invention. Of the 13 tracks, THOTCRIME boast features from Carson Pace of The Callous Daoboys, Katie Davies of Pupil Slicer, Aki McCullough of Dreamwell and diana starshine.
Self-produced by the band before being mixed and mastered by the group’s very own K. Salmon, the usual pitfalls and tribulations of getting a group of people into a room to write and record an album do not apply here. THOTCRIME’s approach to crafting D1G1T4L_DR1FT is an embrace of technological advances and DIY collaboration via Discord servers, instant messengers and online community – with collaboration already playing a large part in THOTCRIME’s growing discography thanks to remix releases of their debut album in its entirety and their 2021 Remixes effort. D1G1T4L_DR1FT is tied together aesthetically in arresting fashion thanks to digital artist Yam Lynn.
On their second long player THOTCRIME continue to shun all that is conventional whilst cohesively blending together disparate influences from 100 Gecs to The Locust, D1G1T4L_DR1FT finds the international act steadfastly embracing exultation and conquering all that stands in their way. Stop the doomscrolling, THOTCRIME are the perfect antidote.

“Black Orchid” marks the return of the band BLACK WIDOWS, which made history in Portugal as the first all-female metal band in their country. While the Widows’ impact was already notable when it hit in the late ’90s, this single shows an outstanding comeback with unshakable strength. Feeling like part of the resilients who fight for Music and Art, the Black Widows entitled their new album “Among the Brave Ones” , and will release it on October 21st 2022. Inverse Records has embraced this great return of Black Widows, marked by a sound worthy only of the brave ones.
Vocalist Rute Fevereiro comments: “I’m so thrilled about “Black Orchid” single. We overcame the storms of the past years, and this song tells it all. The verse “for nobody learns from scaping fears” sums it up. My experience of the past years, returning with this band with new amazing musicians is the given prove of that resilience. I believe that this is the best comeback I could have with Black Widows and am so excited to present you all with this powerful song.”
Norwegian heavy metal trio, SAHG, who is currently gearing up for the release of their sixth studio album, has shared a new single alongside a video. The band’s forthcoming record, entitled Born Demon will be out on October 21, 2022 via Drakkar Entertainment!
“Fall Into the Fire is one of the tracks that really states what the new album is about. This is heavy metal in its purest form.” Guitarist & vocalist Olav Iversen comments.“After Sahg became a three-piece, we started focusing on writing simpler songs. We wanted to go back to the core and rediscover the essence of our heavy metal origin. On the previous couple of albums, we had written more complex and progressive material, but we’d had enough of that. I remember thinking, «How can we make a Sahg song that hits the headbanger in people in the simplest way?» This is what came out. The simple opening riff is the backbone of Fall Into the Fire. The chorus was taken from a song we had written some time before, that was otherwise heading in the wrong direction. But the unpretentious catchiness of the chorus fit perfectly with the new riff.
The vocal line came instinctively along with the riff, and is equally instant and to the point. The first words that rolled off my tongue when we jammed the song, were «You scored the Devil’s daughter», which led me on to writing a lyric about someone who hooks up with a charming young lady out on the town one night. One thing leads to another, and after waking up the next day you realize you have spent the night with the actual Devil’s daughter. Pretty bad news, of course, because you have given the Devil and his daughter exactly what they were after – the perfect occasion to drag you to hell and torture you in the most horrible ways, for all eternity. Turn it down from eleven to seven, and I’m sure many can relate. It’s a song about getting into trouble, basically. The kind you can’t get out of.”
Just exclusively premiered with Metal Injection and Rock Hard Magazine, you can now watch the clip for the blistering, new single “Fall Into The Fire” here:
Entering the Norwegian metal scene in 2006 as a classic doom band, wasn’t necessarily a recipe for success. Black metal was still the big thing coming from Norway, and there wasn’t much space for bands from other subgenres. Even with Gorgoroth members King ov Hell and Kvitrafn in the line-up, adding a touch of blackness, it wasn’t very likely that Sahg would get an instant break-through. But, the band took the heavy music scene by storm with their blistering, chart-breaking debut Sahg I.
Throughout the following decade, Sahg released five critically acclaimed albums, and played several tours and festivals across Europe, the United States and Asia to date. They have toured as support act for bands like Motörhead, W.A.S.P., Opeth, Clutch, Satyricon, Dimmu Borgir and Enslaved to name just a few, and appeared at prestigous festivals such as Wacken Open Air, Summerbreeze, Sweden Rock Festival, Hard Rock Hell, Tons of Rock, Inferno Festival and Beyond the Gates among many more. To this day, Sahg has always stayed trve to their doom and heavy metal roots, and still holds the throne as Norway’s high guardians of doomed heavy metal. They are the bastard sons of Black Sabbath, Motörhead, Pentagram and Judas Priest. Classic heavy metal for the new age, with a desire for the occult, aversion for religion, and a gloomy gaze into the inevitable apocalypse, all served with a cold bite of Norwegian Blackness. With the ruthless force of a classic power trio and their upcoming album Born Demon under their belt, Sahg is part of a renaissance that will bring vintage doom and classic heavy metal back to the masses!

Jimmy Kay and Alan Dixon from The Metal Voice recently spoke to lead singer of Blind Guardian Hansi Kürsch about the bands upcoming studio album ‘The God Machine’ , which will be released on Sept 2, 2022 via Nuclear Blast.
Tell us about the cover art on the new album by Peter Mohrbacher “We were just simply blown away when we saw the artwork. It was very suitable for the music. We needed something connected to mythology, philosophy, religion and also computer games and it is all planted into that artwork, the artist is a genius and we feel it would be the next step. We didn’t feel it was so far away from what we usually do, maybe a little more intense and other than that we were so convinced it would fit the purpose. This angel is organic but still it also has an artificial approach and this is what we are also dealing with in the lyrics. There are a lot of deities and future stuff.”
Tell us about a few of the lyrical themes on the album “The song ‘Architects of Doom’ is about the cycle of violence. The lyrics were related to the new series (latest Battlestar Galactica series) because of the intensity that the series had. The song ‘Destiny’ is related to Hans Christian Andersen (writer) and the Ice Maiden (novel). It is an obsessive song, a fragile song but still threatening somehow. The Ice Maiden is about obsession. I wanted to have a sort of love story and Hans Christian Andersen is the best storyteller. He just is so great at inventing stories and there is always that deeper sense that goes along with it. It’s about the cold obsession of love. The results are just fatal at least for one party. The song ‘Let it be no more’ was a long process in creating this one we worked on it at the end of 2018 to 2019. It was when my mother passed away and that had an impact on the vocals and on the melody lines, especially in the verses. It’s about loss in general and what loss means to those who are left behind and those who depart and that was also related to the TV series, ‘The Leftovers’ which gave it an additional depth.”
Tell us about the musical direction of this album compared to the last ones ” The intensity is extremely high, more of the let your hair down then the bombastic side even though there are some bombastic moments. It would say it is the back to the roots album because there are a lot of new elements in there but it has the intensity in what we did in the 90’s. If we speak about aggression maybe it’s our most aggressive one (album) and the only other albums that come close to it are ‘Imaginations from the other side’ and ‘Follow the blind’. I think the two years (lockdown) that we all had, had an impact on the album. We started the production when the pandemic really started and that had an impact on the lyrics, performance and the music. We were all frustrated and we wanted to let the anger just go, let loose. It’s an angry album. This album is complete, for us once the album is complete it is the best album, there is no doubt about it and sometimes he have been proven wrong because the fans did not feel the same way. With this one it is so complete, it’s so defined that I would think that most of the Blind Guardian fans will fall in love with it. We also had a good amount of songs which we did not finally put on the album and we did not even work on during the production because we found our way with the songs which are on the album and we never left that path.”
When asked if the band went far enough with Orchestrations and now it’s time to go back to basics? “Everyone in the band has a slightly different perspective. For me there was a necessity to just let go, After we finished ‘the Legacy of the Dark lands’ album’ I did not feel the urge to back back there again. It was time for a new starting point, for a new era. For me it felt like going home (new Album) or getting home, with distorted guitars and having a band accompany me. I also felt like if there was something bad about the ‘Legacy of the Dark Lands’ or ‘Beyond the Red mirror’ , it was that the band does not shine enough, there is so much going on, there is so much information and this takes away attention from the band members. For me from the beginning I wanted to make an album that just features the band. When we discussed it everyone in the band was on the same page even though I believe that André Olbrich would like to do another orchestrated album, for me that is not what I want to do within the next 5 years.”
