Polish heavy metallers LaNinia have released a new lyric video ‘Exterminate’, taken from their second full-length album “Tyrant” which was released in late 2021. Watch the lyric video below.
LaNinia was formed in 2018 by two friends, Daniel Ludwiczak (guitar) and Janusz Duź (guitar). Their music is inspired by bands such as Sepultura, Vader, Biohazard and Acid Drinkers. Debut album entitled “Loneliness” (2018) is a reference to the passing of time, interpersonal interactions and what the world around us is today. It’s the album that goes back to the 90s, but it does not avoid modern sounds. New material entitled “Tyrant” consists of 11 compositions bearing a common denominator-tyranny, which is the main theme of the album. As the band explain: „In today’s difficult and uncertain times, we wanted to look at this phenomenon at a wider angle and present it from different perspectives.” The album fully shows the multidimensionality of the band and what it has to offer to both Polish and English speaking listeners. English lyrics, melodic vocals and guitar groove are the most characteristic features of LaNinia. Invited guests musicians not only showed up for the recording sessions, but also took active part in the creation of the music right from the beginning and left a significant mark on the final sound of the compositions. The album includes a cover version of „Mandatory Suicide” by Slayer. „Our version of this track features Piotr Luczyk as a guest. He is a musical personality that had a big impact on the development of the Polish metal scene and made this cover even more special!”

Wanikiya Record is pleased to present “MAKENA”, second single from the rock opera project OLTRE L’ABISSO anticipating their upcoming album to be released soon!
The single is available on all the best international stores in digital version, and also on the label’s official stores:
Beyond the Abyss” is a prog-rock work composed by Perry Magnani and M° Elisabetta Tagliati, based on Elisabetta’s dreamlike novel of the same name published by Pluriversum Editions. The plot tells of a legend with deep spiritual implications, set in the magical Italian Apennines. Bethel, a Celtic chieftain, receives a series of mysterious visions that lead her to an encounter with the druid Vessagh. Their mutual acquaintance quickly turns into transcendental love, allowing them to reach the source of the supreme Self.
The song “Makena” is found at the beginning of the Rock Opera, where the two female characters (Bethel and Luned) confront each other while talking about the valiant chieftain Makena. Bethel, Makena’s companion, is the ruler of this small Celtic Clan, while Luned is a dear friend who is very attached to tradition. The song has a distinct acoustic folk sound, enriched by the presence of flutes that enhances and characterizes the female component of the song. The melody, rhythmic with processional suggestion, highlights the dignity and elegance of the characters.
The rock opera is in the Italian language and played completely live, either acoustic (with piano or piano and guitar) or electric (with a full rock band). The three characters are characterized by three different vocalities (lyrical, rock and soul), approached from numerous musical genres (folk, pop, blues, soul, rock, metal, classical, psychedelic, soundtrack) that flow smoothly with each other and are summarized by the prog rock sound.
The show consists of 25 songs for the duration of about 2 hours, which can also be performed as a concert or musical reading. In 2019, the show debuted in stage form in the Rocca di Montefiorino (MO).
One of Chile’s best-known metal guitarists in Finland, ERICK AVILA – Cold Scandinavian Metal meets hot Latin American rhythms in a new original tango single ‘Hoy Bailo Un Tango Gris’.
Arrangements by Erick Avila, Tuomas Riihimäki, Aki Kontiokangas, Elias Koljonen
Recorded by Jori Saloranta, Tuomas Riihimäki and Erick Avila
Mixed by Javier Bassino
Mastered by Mika Jussila, Finnvox

Erick Avila moved to Finland two years ago for the love of the local music scene and he is now building his new career there. Erick Avila is one of the best-known metal guitarists in Chile. He is also a composer, producer and for a long time he has been the leader of a Chilean metal band Six Magics.
Avila found a band bearing his own name with three Finnish musicians. The group is doing now something no one has ever done before – combining metal and the hot rhythms of Latin America such as the Chilean cueca, Brazilian bossanova and Cuban salsa.
Last year Erick Avila band released their first single ‘Songo‘, an energetic song that combines salsa and metal. Now the band presents a new Metal-Tango ‘Hoy Bailo un Tango Gris’. The passion of the tango meets the Nordic metal in this new way to make a Tango.
Avila’s former band Six Magics has toured also in Europe in addition to Latin America. They have headlined concerts for thousands of people and supported bands like Nightwish and Tarja Turunen. Avila has a vast fan base in Chile for over 20 years of career and he has been an inspiration source for many guitarists in the area.
Now the new band has gained great reception by Chilean and Finnish audience due to the cross cultural videos they published in social media showing how the project and music were born so far away from Chile and how the band leader, Avila himself blended into the Finnish culture.

P.O.D. announce the release of “When Angels & Serpents Dance” on October 14th via Mascot Records /Mascot Label Group, re-mixed and re-mastered plus with three bonus tracks not on the original master. Furthermore the band has released an official music video for ‘Addicted’, watch it below. Album pre-order live at https://lnk.to/POD-AngelsSerpents.
When asked about the lead track shared “Addicted,” Singer Sonny Sandoval offers, “We all have friends or family going through something. Without trying to just be so obvious, it is. Sometimes that stuff is out of your control. Once you get to that place in life, it really does ruin your life and take over. But again, how much of it is your choice and how much of it is really just being caught up? A lot of it is about my brother-in-law actually. He is homeless and kind of made that choice that he didn’t want to be a part of society. Like it was easier to just be on his own and do what he wanted to do and have no responsibilities. He struggles with substance abuse. It really stemmed from that. It’s never really always about one person. Whatever the topic is. I’m sure you know someone who is stuck in the same thing. It happened to be about a lot of stuff. I grew up around addiction and people that either died from addiction or it ruined their life because of it.” Guitarist Marcos Curiel adds, “As humans, we all have our demons and addictions, whether it is drugs, alcohol, or otherwise. We could be addicted to social media, or you could be addicted to a negative person, and have a negative outlook. So for me it just reminds me that you can’t take life for granted and addiction is a real thing. I think a lot of it comes from mental health and it is a big deal man. You see people struggling mentally man, and I think a lot of people try to numb it so they find other ways to numb themselves and they get addicted.”
Looking back at the time singer Sonny Sandoval shares, “It was special because that’s when Marcos came back to the band. We did two records without Marcos, our guitar player, so this was just getting back together and putting aside whatever we had that caused this. This record has all of the elements of us, but it’s actually darker than it sounds in a lot of ways. It’s not one of our heaviest records, but there are a lot of musical elements in this one. I feel like we were just free to be us when Marcos got back in the band. We just had fun and really enjoyed making a record and dong it together as this united brotherhood. It was special to be able to do a record again with Marcos.” He continues, “Right after this record, we actually stopped doing music for about four years. I was going through some personal stuff and needed to take time off. We didn’t know if we were gonna do anything again. But we are happy that we got back together.”
Guitarist Marcos Curiel offers, “So, I was not in the band for two albums, and this was our first record back. I basically had something to prove as a songwriter and guitarist. I was like you know what man, I’m back. I’m one of the OG members with my brothers here we got something to prove. As a songwriter, I was like trying to write something with what was going on with our peers you know what I mean. So, I think that’s what makes this special for me. Personally, I think the overall sound we were flirting with a lot of different elements, and with pop dude, and then you could hear all the different elements on the record. I am very proud of it actually. Just stoked for it to be coming out. Because it is a record I think people need to hear. It is more relevant than it seems the nature of what Sonny is singing about today. Maybe more so than it was then, as the nature of the song topics and all that.”

Hot on the heels of his critically acclaimed 2021 album The Fire Cosmic, blues-rock slide guitarist and singer-songwriter TROY REDFERN returns with his most compelling album of his career with The Wings of Salvation. The 10-track album released Friday September 23rd, is available to pre-order from www.troyredfern.com/shop.
The first single Come On released today, is available to buy and stream HERE. Watch the official Come On music video on YouTube HERE.
Produced by Dave Marks (Hans Zimmer) at the UK’s Dulcitone Studios, The Wings of Salvation is an exciting new chapter in Redfern’s trajectory, not only as a slide guitarist, but as a creative force in the recording studio.
“I wanted to make a record that was a true representation of where I am right now as an artist,” says Redfern. “I wanted to create something in the spirit of the old school classic rock albums that I grew up listening to.”

After releasing an unprecedented six albums in just under two years, Troy’s new album The Wings of Salvation, is his most compelling work to date. The album highlights Redfern’s powerfully edgy vocal delivery, condensed song writing skills, tight arrangements, complimented by his trademark “firebrand” slide guitar playing.
“I felt like the time was right to head back into the studio as the creative juices were flowing,” says Redfern. “On the new album, I wanted to approach the recording process by starting with a completely clean slate.”
I wrote the new album from scratch in just under five weeks, in the same way that the bands that I grew up listening to use to do. It makes everything fresh and immediate. It’s an accurate snapshot of where you are as an artist at that moment.”
Says Troy, “Dave Marks, my producer, and I also decided early on we wanted an old school aesthetic for this album, in that we wanted no studio fixes, no autotune, no drum editing or samples. It had to be real, with only complete takes, no chopping up parts in post-production to make them sound perfect. We wanted an album that authentically captured my sound. I feel satisfied in knowing that we achieved what we set out to accomplish, and I couldn’t be prouder of this album.”
“My 1935 Dobroresonator features heavily on the new album along with my MagnatoneTwilighter amplifier,” reflects Redfern. “I found this to be a killer combination. It’s such a huge tone without the need for layers and layers of guitar tracks.”
For drum duties Dave enlisted the skills of Paul Stewart, the drummer from chart toppers The Feeling. Troy says, “Dave felt that Paul was the perfect fit to play drums on this album. He connected with my new material and took it to another level.”
“It was important for me to get the right drum sound for this album as that’s the foundation everything else is built on,” recalls Redfern. “I wanted a more three-dimensional, ‘open’ sound for this record.”
We used Lee Russell’sDulcitone Studios in Kettering to track the drums, which is a beautifully converted church, and it has the most amazing natural reverb sound. The results are astounding. On the new album we’ve managed to take the production to the next level.”
“Mastering is an important part of making a great sounding record” explains Troy. “Abbey Road Studios was the only option. It has the gold-standard reputation for the best mastering facilities in the world. I decided that Sean Magee would be the perfect choice to master the new album. His credentials include the Beatles, Deep Purple, John Lennon, the Ramones, Tina Turner, Sex Pistols, Rush, and Iron Maiden. He turned out to be an excellent choice. He gave the album that gorgeous shine Abbey Road is renowned for.”

Track By Track
Gasoline The album opens with a slice of pure 21st century southern rock. Delivered with Troy’s feral slide guitar playing, heavy low tuned resonator guitars, and a monster 7/8 groove. Positive vibes abound lyrically with themes of “good times up ahead,” and “nothing’s gonna stand in your way.” Gasoline is hi-octane, good-time rock n roll.
Sweet Carolina Sweet Carolina is celebration of fiercely independent women everywhere and has a ‘Stones’ meets ‘Bolan’ feel that permeates this upbeat sunshine rocker. Despite the hat tip to the past this is a truly ‘Redfern’ tune with Troy’s trademark nicotine drenched vocals and slide guitar.
Come On This bombastic, high-energy blues boogie comes out of the gate like a tasered rodeo horse. A traditional blues beat, but on steroids with a dash of glam rock, Come On epitomises what Troy does best – fuzzed up slide guitar, big choruses, and raw slide guitar solos. Navajo Resonator guitars conjure up hazy images of the dust blown plains of the Wild West. Lyrically, it’s inspired by the 1864 Long Walk of the Navajo nation; used as an allegory of the loss of modern-day freedoms in all their forms.
Mercy Opening with a vintage vibe slide motif, Mercy bursts into a wall of uplifting guitars and Paul Stewart’s half time epic power groove. Dealing with themes of doomed love and moving on from bad situations, Mercy’s chorus opens-up like a break in the clouds leaving nothing but blue skies ahead.
Can’t Let Go Lyrically, Can’t Let Go explores the feelings of watching world events play out in the media. It’s about the desire to dislocate from the negativity that we’re all force fed daily, and the need to reconnect with what really matters in life.
Dark Religion This song is the prequel to The Line and Ghosts. Played on a vintage 1935 Dobro resonator in a 3/4 sea shanty vibe, it follows the story of a girl setting sail to a new land with her hopes and dreams, but she inevitably comes to the realisation that all that glitters isn’t gold.
Profane Like Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez’ Sin City meets the punk energy of The Damned, this high-octane psychobilly car chase soundtrack roars through the noir cityscape at breakneck speed. Revenge, retribution and finally redemption. Redfern lets it rip by with tasty guitar licks courtesy of his vintage 1962 Silvertone Jupiter guitar.
Down Underpinned with a tribal voodoo beat and brooding rhythm guitars, Down’s verse simmers with tension before exploding headlong into its supercharged chorus. The harmonised vocals of middle eight almost feel ethereal, before it jumps into a slash and burn guitar solo.
Heart & Soul Heart & Soul strips things right back to the essentials with guitar, voice, and kick drum. Having the vibe and intensity of one of Troy’s solo performances, the raw energy is evident, especially in the extended guitar solo where the guitar sounds like it’s crying out in anguish.
ANDRZEJ CITOWICZ – Polish Cairo-based guitarist and songwriter, former recording artist for Down Boys Records (record label belong to Erik Turner and Jerry Dixon from Warrant band) and also ex-guitarist for T.A.C.E. Project – is back, after 3 years of break, with his new solo project CITOVITZ AND THE FIREFLIES OF FEBRUARY and a new solo album – “Misery Loves Company”.
Last few months Citowicz has published on YouTube songs and videos from the upcoming album, check out the playlist here.
“I want to tell a story through the guitar alone” – Citowicz says “Few months ago I decided that I will never ever surrender with music. I don’t just do it as a hobby – my music and guitar define my existence. Seriously. We all have a unique perspective, and to express that, in an artistic way, nobody can stop me from doing it. It’s a climb uphill struggle, but it’s worth every moment spent. That crushing notion really forms my art into something, that’s just totally bulletproof. There are different levels of ambition, but to me, my ambition is only attainable through making music”.
“Life hasn’t been kind to my wife & I” – Citowicz continues – “But let me tell you one thing. If Peter was the rock, then my wife was, is and always will be my rock and my shoulder to lean on. The story behind the album… “Misery loves company” is a saga of all the agony, frustration, pain, betrayal and hardships that has and still going on “Misery loves company” is about needing comforting & support, when times are hard.”
The newest album will feature 20 guitar, instrumental songs, stylistically diverse, but still revolving in the climates of hard rock, classic rock, pop and metal.
This time Citowicz not only composed and played all the songs on the guitar, but also took on the role of creating drums, and was also the sound engineer of the upcoming album. Patryk Szymański who has accompanied Citowicz in his musical projects for over a decade and is responsible for the bass guitar.
“The videoclips, that I have been sharing on YouTube are not full songs” – Citowicz say again. “Full songs will be in a limited CD version. Credit is due for Patryk Szymanski, who has been working tirelessly around the clock. He found the time between his daddy duties, obligations, and his job to obtain the best results. I am beyond grateful is not enough.”
“Misery Loves Company”- limited edition exclusive physical CD’s (and digital release) will take place around August, 2022.
