Celebrated Montreal rock’n’roll band THE DAMN TRUTH are pleased to announce they will return to the UK for an 11-date UK tour. The band will also release a new single “Look Innocent” on Friday May 6th.
The band will support Planet Rock’s Rocktober shows at Bristol O2 Academy (Oct 15) and Sheffield O2 Academy (Oct 22), followed dates supporting King King at Northampton Roadmender (Oct 16), Southampton 1865(Oct 20), Liverpool Hangar 34 (Oct 21).
In addition to the above, The Damn Truth will also headline their own concerts including Norwich Waterfront Studio (Oct 18), Chester Live Rooms (Oct 23), Newcastle Cluny (Oct 25), Glasgow Stereo (Oct 26), York Fulford Arms (Oct 27), and London’s BlackHeart (Oct 28).
The band are currently on a two-month April-May tour of Europe. They’ve been touring non-stop since they last toured the UK where they were special guests on King King’s February 2022 UK tour.
The tour announcement dovetails with the band’s latest single Look Innocent, which is taken from their critically acclaimed album “Now or Nowhere” released by Spectra Musique/Sony Music. The album, produced by legendary Grammy Award winning record producer, Bob Rock, is available from www.thedamntruth.com.
The Damn Truth have experienced considerable success at radio airplay in the UK including ten weeks of high rotation for their previous single “This Is Who We Are Now” on Planet Rock and a spot play on BBC Radio 2’s Rock Show with Johnnie Walker. The band have also won on several occasions for Tracks of the Week on Classic Rock’s Louder Sound.
The band have been championed by the British music press with extensive magazine coverage in Classic Rock, Blues Matters, Guitarist, Powerplay, Guitar Techniques, Record Collector, Fireworks, Blues in Britain, Hard Rock Hell, MNPR and R’N’R Magazine.
“We’re looking forward to touring the UK,” says lead singer and guitarist, Lee-la Baum. “Last time we played the UK was earlier this year when we supported King King on their February tour. We had a fantastic time, and we can’t wait to return for more fun and excitement. UK audiences are the best.”
The Damn Truth is comprised of Lee-La Baum (lead vocals, guitar), Tom Shemer (guitar), PY Letellier (bass) and Dave Traina (drums).
“The Damn Truth are a fresh revivalism of the psyche music scene from the mid 60’s,” says Jeff Laufer, editor of the Californian website, Rock Bands of LA. “Critics and fans alike praise their regeneration of the hard rock sound and values.”
“Bob Rock found a spirit within the band that he hadn’t experienced for many years,” continues Jeff. “He saw something special… an artist with burning talent that needed the right direction to break wide open…like lightning in a bottle.”
“The production by the legendary Bob Rock capturing the essence of what the band have without damaging the humanness at its core. The drums thunder, the bass throbs, the guitar alone could wreak havoc to the solar system and the vocals of Lee-La Baum control the storm, a commanding presence over the hurricane.”

Six tracks on the new album “Now or Nowhere” were produced by legendary Grammy Award winning Bob Rock (Metallica, Aerosmith, Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams, The Cult, The Offspring) at Bryan Adams’ recording studio “The Warehouse” in Vancouver.
“Now or Nowhere” chronicles the band as they navigate life, love, and everything else in a world gone seemingly upside down and sideways during the past year they were unable to finish the album with Bob because of COVID-19 restrictions, the band recorded the remaining three songs with help from Juno Award-winning producer Jean Massicotte who mixed “Everything Fades”; and the rest of the mixing was done by Vance Powell (Jack White, Chris Stapleton), Nick DiDia (Bruce Springsteen, Rage Against The Machine), and Mike Plotnikoff (Van Halen, Cranberries).
The Damn Truth have extensively toured Europe and North America and opened tours for Z.Z. Top (and partied with Billy Gibbons in his pyjamas), the Sheepdogs, Styx, and Rival Sons.
They sold out the legendary Whisky a Go-Go in Los Angeles, sold out the Corona Theatre in their hometown of Montreal, and had one of their videos featured on the official Janis Joplin Facebook page. It’s a culmination of a lot of blood, sweat and tears that’s come fruition with “Now or Nowhere”.
LYBICA, a dynamic and instrumental band from South Florida that seamlessly blends flavorful guitar melody with powerful metallic crunch and which features Killswitch Engage drummer Justin Foley on guitar, have today shared the double single “Palatial” and “Ferment.” Listen here: orcd.co/lybica-palatial
“These tunes were two early ones that came together when we first started jamming, so it’s fitting that they’re the first songs we’re sharing with everyone,” Foley says. “I think they sum up what we’re all about, blending loud with soft, heavy with hooks.“
The band also dropped the official video for “Palatial.” Watch it here:
Lybica will release their debut album later this year via Metal Blade Records.
In other band news, Lybica will play their first show ever on May 7 at Haven Lounge in Winter Park, Florida, just outside of Orlando. The band has added drummer Chris Lane (A Brilliant Lie), to its lineup as of December 2021. He makes his debut in the “Palatial” video.
Foley continues, “Now that we have Chris [Lane] on drums, it’s time to give these songs and more their live debut at Haven Lounge in Winter Park, Florida on May 7. We can’t wait!!“
ABOUT LYBICA: Lybica‘s origin story can be traced back to 2020 when it became clear to Justin Foley that he wasn’t going to be spending much time with his normal bandmates for a while. Quarantine days still needed to be time well spent, and he’d been working on some demos that he finally decided to share with a few local friends in South Florida. “I’d written a bunch of stuff that didn’t quite fit into traditional song structures,” Foley says. “And I’ve always been drawn to bands where the instruments provide hooks, rather than relying on a lyric. It seemed like a good time to start something new and see where it could go.“
Foley met fellow musicians Doug French (Gravel Kings) and Joey Johnson (Gravel Kings, Barriers Now Bridges, Days Spent) back in 2016, and they had repeatedly talked about jamming together but never actually got around to it. Foley and French – both drummers by trade – often spoke about trying something different that allowed them each to get out from behind the kit. “I’ve always wanted to play a stringed instrument,” French shares. “And bass felt natural, since it is the other half of the rhythm section.“
Johnson grew up playing shows all over Florida, heavily influenced by early punk and then both hardcore and metal. “[People at] all the good places to get a beer kept asking me if I had met Justin, since they know I play music,” he recalls. “I heard about him in our town for about a year before we actually met through mutual friends. We hit it off when we started talking [about] instrumental music.“
When French and Johnson eventually received the demos from Foley, they really liked what they heard. For several months, the three of them emailed music back and forth while learning the parts, especially Foley and French on instruments – guitar and bass, respectively – that they weren’t experienced playing. They eventually started playing together with the drum tracks from the demos blasting through the PA speakers. Before too long, they had enough music for a full record and the direction of the band was taking shape.
The band eventually recruited Orlando drummer Chris Lane of A Brilliant Lie to fill its “drummer vacancy.” Lane, who was born and raised in Chicago and is currently based in Orlando, joined the band in December 2021.
The founding trio soon discovered that they had something else in common besides music. “The three of us are pretty big cat people,” Foley points out. “So it only made sense to call the band Lybica.” Named after a small wildcat species native to Africa that is widely considered the godfather of the modern house cat, Lybica is the first known feline species to be tamed and domesticated by humans. Fast forward 10,000 years, and today, Lybica the band are as addictive as catnip. Lybica are poised to make some serious noise in 2022 – fur-real.
Rising Irish electronic/metal crossover force, RESTIVE NATION have released new ’T.O.L.’ visualiser/single. Taken from their gripping self-titled LP, Dublin-based Restive Nation continue to show their many sides with their seventh single, which is accompanied by a striking visualiser, created by Very Metal Art [Judas Priest/Mordred/Bloodstock Open Air Festival].
‘TOL’ (or “Tunnel Of Love”) showcases the industrial side of Restive Nation, with elements of steampunk and electronica. Vocalist Atmahead takes on the vocal rein where he explores the theme of the journey of death, acceptance, and what’s on the other side. ‘TOL’ is dedicated to Atmaheads brother, Tony, who sadly left us in 2019. Atmahead: “Before he flew off I told him he was going to go through a tunnel and on a kind of train journey. I called it the ‘Tunnel of Love’.”
The track is featured on the bands recently released debut self-titled LP, and is the final single to be taken from the albums collection of tracks.
Their self-titled new album is out now [on all good streaming sites] and is also available for pre-order if you’re a fan of vinyl. ALBUM TRACK BY TRACK
Automaton An atmospheric introduction to what is about to come. Includes a live sound bite from the band’s original vocalist the late Dave Lepard, pulling on the memories for the hard-core fans.
Together Whatever A true party anthem! ‘Together Whatever’ explodes into raging guitars and scorching vocals, this is a tribute to the decadent good old days and the bands early roots.
Shine On In this all or nothing, going to the top, driving wall of sound. With this song the band sets its album mission. There are no compromises.
No Man’s Land It’s a story about looking inwards and a hard charge moving forward, no matter what the cost. Sung with powerful and precise vocals, surrounded by thick driving bass, heavy guitar chops and rock-solid drums.
Darker Minds A powerful rock ballad, thick with layered vocal harmonies and driving rhythms. A song about feeling that something is not right and questioning if change is on the way.
Dead Crusade One of the heavier tunes from the album. The chugging wall of guitars make you want to levitate while a brilliantly performed, syncopated drum-track keeps you totally grounded. A dark song about the afterlife.
Powerline (feat. Michael Starr) The first ever featured guest appearance on a Crashdïet album, this anthem gives you a soaring duet between vocalist Gabriel Keyes and the infamous Steel Panther vocalist Michael Starr. A powerful call to the wild.
Resurrection of the Damned A heavy blaster, direct from the veins of classic heavy metal and drawing from the bands early influences circa 1989. When you’ve been pushed around for most of your life, you probably have a lot to say about it (and it’s not going to be nice). You’re going to scream for it to stop and resurrect the damned.
We Die Hard The notorious ways of the never-ending road which is the life we choose. A contagious mid-tempo rock anthem. A tribute to all the vagabond wanderers.
Shell Shock A slow-driving powerful rock chugger full of dynamic vocals, guitars and gang-chorus shout-outs. A song about what happens when your temptations have taken over.
Unbroken A fast-tempo punch rocker with guitar driven melodies, powerful vocal ranges and some surprise feel changes that will keep you on your feet. Defiant and never looking back.
I Can’t Move On (Without You) An airy 12-stringed acoustic guitar sets the feel of this classic rock ballad, featuring an astounding vocal performance complete with fat orchestral arrangements. A beautifully sensitive song, building up to a massively powerful ending.
CRASHDÏET are set to hit the road for a run of shows to promote the new album, with new live drummer Lacu (ex-Hanoi Rocks).

BLACKMENT was founded 2014 in Hyvinkää and they are ready to release their debut album Plains of Oblivion on September 9th this year. As a sample from their upcoming album, they now present their strong new single, Maw of the Dread. Previously the band has released couple of small releases that gave a glimpse of the band’s sound that combines catchy melodies, striking riffs and a tight rhythm base, atmospheric synths, and a distinctive versatile vocal approach. The same elements are also present in the new single.
”Maw of the Dread is an energetic and heavy song that starts like a thunder” guitarist Allan Välimaa explains.”We’ve played this track on our rehearsal room since summer 2016 so this is one of our oldest tracks on the album. The structure of the song is still pretty much the same as back then, except for a couple of changes along the way.”
The vocals lead the listener through a heavy, somber, emotional, and melodic atmosphere. Lyrical theme has a twist of horror that deals with the subject of taking the easy way, in some sense with a hint of satire.
”It’s about people trying to manage things taking the easy way, usually with someone else’s expense. Writing lyrics is kind of a way to cheer myself up and most of the subjects has been created by my own challenges and mistakes in life. So basically, it’s also me looking myself in the mirror, even to this day” Allan Välimaa tells.
Music by Allan Välimaa Lyrics by Allan Välimaa & Sami Vuorenheimo Mixing & recording engineer: Harri Petjakko Mastering engineer: Mika Jussila
