ASTRONOID, the Boston band whose music has been described as an “awesome intersection of black metal pummel and shoegaze luster” (Pitchfork) and whose 2019 self-titled album was dubbed “the sweetest, softest heavy metal of the year” by NPR, release their eagerly-awaited third album, “Radiant Bloom”, on June 3rd. A preview of the nine-song collection has now arrived with the release of “Eyes” on all digital platforms, a track Boland describes as “not feeling completely sure of who you are or what you’re doing.”
Band comments:
“It’s a balance of aggression and emotion,” explains vocalist, guitar player and songwriter Brett Boland about the band’s first new album in three years. “This is our next evolution. It’s a reflection of everything over the past few years, and it’s the most personal album we’ve made so far. ‘Radiant Bloom’ is about the state of being human and all the trials and tribulations that come along with that. It’s about mundanity and boredom and about everything moving so fast that you feel like you can’t do it all. It’s about the flood of feelings that goes along with everyday experiences and trying to cope with the swirling vortex of life humming around you.”
Two decades into their venerable careers, Baltimore Death Metal savants MISERY INDEX are back with their new record, “Complete Control”, to be released worldwide on May 13th, 2022.
MISERY INDEX have now debuted a second single off “Complete Control” with the track “Infiltrators”. Check it out in a video-clip featuring live-footage from a show at the Ottobar in Baltimore, Maryland and directed by Chris Joao HERE.
““Infiltrators” is certainly the most hardcore-tinged song on the album (as well as the shortest). The lyrics target those who spew divisive, dehumanizing ideologies. It’s an outright rejection (and admittedly a strong one) of those who support and apologize for these people and their anti-social, fascistic worldviews.”
Next to the Jewelcase CD, LP and Digital versions of the album, “Complete Control” will also be available as limited Deluxe 2CD Box Set, containing the studio album as Jewelcase CD, an additional 5-Track Bonus EP entitled “Strategies of Manipulation” in a Slimline Case CD, a black Tote Bag with artwork print, a Button Set with 2 buttons and a double-sided Mini Poster. The album’s LP format will come on 180g vinyl and include a 4page LP-Booklet as well as a Poster in the A2 format. These are the available variants and limitations: Black LP – Unlimited, Transp. Red LP – 1100x copies via all US outlets & Season Of Mist, Clear-Black Marbled LP, 500x copies via CM Distro and Evil Greed (European Bandshop), Silver LP – 300x copies via EMP, White LP – 300x copies via Bandshops (IndieMerch / North America & Evil Greed / Europe).
After their recent hit-singles ELECTRIC CALLBOY are now back at full throttle with their brand new single “Spaceman”. Creative and crazy as ever, the band comes up with another party-ready super-hit that is following up “We Got The Moves” and “Pump It”.
As if the whole thing wasn’t enough for a viral internet hit, ELECTRIC CALLBOY got some prominent support on board. None other than German rap superstar FINCH, who gives the song the final touch with his powerful rap parts.
Band comments:
“After mullets, pot cuts, and killer biceps, we went to the infinite reaches of space for our new single, under Finch’s watchful eye. And what can we say… Spaceman will beam you into other spheres!”
Of course, the band didn’t miss the opportunity to produce a music video on Hollywood blockbuster level, which leaves nothing to be desired in terms of humor and extravagance. Watch the video HERE and stream the single below. Stream it HERE.
“Within Temptation” is the new recording of one of the fan favourites of the thrashers from Preston UK. The song is included as a bonus track on the upcoming CD/DVD package SOLITARY “XXV: LIVE AT BLOODSTOCK” (Metalville Records – street date April 22nd) an can be watched as video below.
On Sunday 11th August 2019 Solitary took to the stage at the Bloodstock Open Air festival in the UK and delivered a breathless, battering, glorious set of pure thrash metal. The band were celebrating their 25th anniversary of resolute, neck-snapping thrashing and the Bloodstock performance was a victorious statement of jubilant defiance. The band gave everything that day, as they always have done on the stages of the UK and Europe for the last quarter of a century and the crowd responded in kind. There was something special in the air and it’s all here to be relived on CD and DVD with the stunning XXV: LIVE AT BLOODSTOCK package. From the rampaging riff assaults of ‘Trigger Point Atrocity’ and ‘The Edge Of Violence’, to the anthemic ‘Architects Of Shame’ and crowd pleasing classics like ‘Keep Your Enemies Closer’ and ‘Requiem’, every moment of that Bloodstock set is here to be relived or discovered. This is the ultimate representation of Solitary on stage, as close as you can get to their live intensity without diving into the pit.
XXV: LIVE AT BLOODSTOCK comes with a deluxe booklet and a host of bonus material on both the CD and DVD. Back in 2019 Solitary released a limited edition EP called XXV which featured three re-recordings of Solitary fan favourites – those studio tracks have been remixed by Mike Bew (Cancer etc) and remastered by Martin Buchwalter (Accuser, Destruction, Tankard etc) and appear on the XXV: Live At Bloodstock CD. The DVD portion of this monster release features, alongside the complete Bloodstock set, a pre-show interview with front man Rich Sherrington and all eight of Solitary’s promo videos to date. To say XXV: Live At Bloodstock is an essential release for all Solitary fans and thrash metal fans in general is a colossal understatement. If you love thrash, you need this in your life!

The new single “Die gute Tat” from the upcoming album “Ton Steine Scherben” (Metalville Records – street date 22.04.) by the German thrash / metal core band MEIN KOPF IST EIN BRUTALER ORT takes us on a tour of crumbling castles in the air and broken hearts. It shows how much destructive power can be behind the best of intentions. The song takes us through the relationship of a couple who have to unmask each other again and again in order to be able to break away from each other.
The prophecy of a world heading for an inevitable collapse seems to be coming true. Many things that seem commonplace to everyone no longer work. And although the neck still seems strong – after all, one has worn the crown of creation long enough – it is difficult to face the challenges with one’s head held high. In the midst of chaos and uncertainty, the six musicians put their finger on the wound with “Tons Steine Sterben” and give things a name. What is still real, what is fiction – the boundaries become blurred. The songs try to find a lighthouse in the fog of half-truths, in a world that is changing faster and faster and at the same time stands still.
With their third album, the band consolidates its reputation as the German Lamb of God, and has enlisted prominent support in the form of Tue Madsen at the controls. Compared to the previous albums, the result is even harder and more finesse and manages to capture the power of their live performance.
MEIN KOPF IST EIN BRUTALER ORT directs one eye on the world and one inwards. The gaze is watchful, the voice strong, the message clear: The world is changing and we are here!
Enigmatic dark metal outfit DEATHWHITE will be releasing their third full-length, ‘Grey Everlasting,’ on June 10 via Season of Mist! The band has partnered with The Obelisk for the release of their devastating new single, “No Thought or Memory,” which can be heard at THIS LOCATION.
DEATHWHITE comments:
“‘No Thought or Memory’ details the opioid epidemic ravaging the United States and the perils of addiction. It is well documented how pharmaceutical companies have made billions by getting people hooked on their substances. The fact that they have gotten away with it for so long is reprehensible, but how quickly prescription drug abuse can destroy lives and families is even worse. The amount of lives affected is untold and there is no end in sight.”
‘Grey Everlasting’ is available to pre-order HERE and can be pre-saved to your streaming library HERE.
