MESHIAAK have announced the new lineup change for their third album adding guitarist Logan Mader (Once Human, ex-Machine Head, ex-Soulfly). Also, Jon Dette (Testament, Slayer) rejoins the fold on drums. Original member Dette played drums on the first Meshiaak album Alliance of Thieves. The band parted ways with guitarist Dean Wells, drummer David Godfrey and bassist Andrew Cameron back in early 2021.
Vocalist Danny Camilleri is planning on relocating from Australia to the United States to commence work on the third Meshiaak release. “ I haven’t been this excited to create music in years! The next Meshiaak album is going to be a monster! A big, fat, angry monster, “ Camilleri shares.
uitarist Logan Mader, who will also be co-writing and producing the next record says, “I am beyond stoked to be a part of this album with Meshiaak. I’ll be producing and playing guitar on it. I have a good feeling about how heavy and epic it will be. “
Pirate metal icons ALESTORM have just released a new live performance video for the song “Zombies Ate My Pirate Ship”, featuring footage from their 2021 UK/Ireland tour and including hilarious backstage footage! The video showcases exactly why ALESTORM needs be experienced live: chock full of incredible energy and synergy with the most engaged audience for miles – giant rubber ducky included.
In other news, ALESTORM just entered the studio to record their seventh studio album, Seventh Rum of a Seventh Rum – stay tuned for updates!
ALESTORM on the new clip: “Back in December, we managed to defy all the odds and do a massive tour of the United Kingdom and Ireland, playing 11 huge shows to tens of thousands of fans, culminating in our biggest ever headline show at the Brixton Academy in London. While we were on the road, we also filmed a bunch of footage on and off the stage, so we thought we’d stick it all together into a big fun music video featuring one of our favorite songs from our previous album, called “Zombies Ate My Pirate Ship”. Thanks to everyone who came to see us during these tough times, and extra special thanks to Loretta Lovely, who performed the female vocal parts ‘live’ on stage with us. OH WOW!”
Starting out at small shows somewhere in Eastern Scotland, the “Pirate Metal Drinking Crew” ALESTORM have since conquered festival stages throughout the world and countless album charts – most recently with their latest album, Curse of the Crystal Coconut – which landed at #1 on both the US Top New Artist Albums and Current Hard Music Albums charts, in the Top 10 on the official Scottish and Swiss album charts, and peaked 12th on the German chart. Their sound, which is now more precisely described as “Pirate Metal”, avails itself of folk, power, and heavy metal influences. If wearing a pirate hat while singing crazy songs about getting drunk and stealing ships sounds like your thing, then ALESTORM is your kind of party.
Award-winning guitarist and singer-songwriter JOANNE SHAW TAYLOR is pleased to announce five UK concerts in April 2022. Dates include Sunderland Fire Station (Saturday 23 April), York Barbican (Sunday 24 April), London O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire (Tuesday 26 April), Bexhill De La Warr Pavilion (Friday 29 April), and Coventry HMV Empire (Saturday 30 April).
Joanne will perform songs from her latest critically acclaimed album “The Blues Album” which topped Billboard Magazine’s Official Blues Album Chart. The album was also voted #1 Most Played Blues Album of 2021 by the Independent Blues Broadcaster’s Association. Joanne will also dig deep into her rich back catalogue where she will hand-pick songs from her albums “Reckless Heart”, “Wild”, “The Dirty Truth”, “Almost Always Never”, “Diamonds in the Dirt”, and “White Sugar”.
“The Blues Album” is the follow up to 2019’s critically acclaimed “Reckless Heart” album, and features Josh Smith (guitar), Reese Wynans (keyboards), Greg Morrow (drums), SteveMackey (bass), Steve Patrick (trumpet), Mark Douthit (sax), Barry Green (trombone). Joe Bonamassa plays guitar and sings on “Don’t Go Away Mad”.
The 11-track album features Joanne’s personalised covers of eleven rare blues classics originally recorded by Albert King, Peter Green, Little Richard, Magic Sam, Aretha Franklin, Little Milton, and many more.
“I’d known from the beginning of my recording career that one day I wanted to record an album of blues covers, I just wasn’t sure when the right time to do that would be,” says Joanne. “I’ve always found it far easier to write my own material than come up with creative ways to make other artists’ material my own.”
When the pandemic put the brakes on from musicians from touring during 2020 and most of 2021, Joanne thought it was the right time to head into the studio to record The Blues Album.
“We wanted to make a tough vocal centric straight blues record that showcases Joanne’s amazing talent but in a slightly different light,” explains Bonamassa. “Joanne is a dear friend and a superstar. Josh and I focused on testing her limits and pushing boundaries that might not have occurred before. It’s all about making a statement and having the listener want to play the music repeatedly.”
Joanne’s covers album pays tribute to artists and bands that are not obvious choices including Little Village, Little Milton, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, James Ray, but, at the same time, she covers seminal blues icons including Albert King, Fleetwood Mac’s Peter Green and Magic Sam. Some of the songs covered are B-sides of singles.

Ireland’s RESTIVE NATION have been steadily blurring the lines of Metal, Rock, Progressive and Electronic music since their inception back in 2014. With a sequence of three single releases last year the band continue to tease the new album with ‘White Ural’, one of the more heavier tracks from the forthcoming new album, and the first new release of 2022.
Check out the stunning video here:
Video by Andy Pilkington at Very Metal Art.
In true Restive Nation style, the band adapts a number of influences from Mastodon to Gojira and Enslaved in this latest single, highlighting the heavier, and equally darker side to their eclectic songwriting abilities.
The band states of their new single: “White Ural is one of the heaviest tracks from Restive Nation, to date. With Tony [Carberry] on vocals, ‘White Ural’ showcases the metal side of what the band can achieve. The premise of the songs lyrics follows the story of a group of hikers that set off on a journey in the Ural Mountains late January 1959. They would meet a gruesome and unexplained death. The bleakness of the story can be felt in the music – it’s cold, grim and extremely tense throughout.”
The bands’ debut full length will be released on February 25th [Digitally] with a very limited edition run of vinyl pressings to follow later in the year. Pre-orders for the vinyl are live now and can be accessed via this link.
A select number of pre-orders feature one of an exclusive limited edition 350gsm matte-finish print, taken from a series of eight designs, that will instantly be shipped out prior to the release of the vinyl, later this year.
Restive Nation’s official album launch will be taking place in Dublin’s Grand Social venue on February 24th, with tickets on sale now, priced at €12 via this link.
