Today, after more than 40 eventful years of existence, Canada’s progressive sci-fi metal innovators VOÏVOD return with ‘Symphonique,’ a special live release together with the Quebec Symphony Orchestra, set for release on June 5, 2026, worldwide via Century Media Records.
‘Symphonique,’ which functions like an epic piece of cinema, showcases VOÏVOD’s pioneering futuristic metal with the strains of a symphony orchestra, and features a carefully curated VOÏVOD best-of setlist composed of 12 songs across 73 minutes, recorded live on June 4th, 2025, at the Grand Théâtre in Québec City, Canada.
Offering a first taste of ‘Symphonique,’ the band shares the first single, “Forgotten In Space (Symphonique),” alongside an official visualizer curated by Cloud Motion Design, available to view below.
VOÏVOD’s drummer and founding member Michel “Away” Langevin comments on ‘Symphonique’:
“This live album with the Quebec Symphony Orchestra is a longtime dream turned reality. Thankfully, we will experience it again in 2027 with the Orchestre Symphonique du Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean, right in the region where VOÏVOD formed back in 1983. We wish to take this show across the globe with local orchestras one day, but in the meantime, I hope you will enjoy this epic release. It’s the closest we’ve ever come to sounding like a dystopian sci-fi movie soundtrack, another dream of ours!”
About the first single “Forgotten in Space (Symphonique),” bassist Dominic “Rocky” Laroche adds:
“Taken from the album ‘Killing Technology,’‘Forgotten in Space’ transports us to a Mad Max-esque science-fiction universe. Denis “Piggy” D’Amour was even inspired by it when composing parts of the original version. This incredible symphonic masterpiece, orchestrated by Hugo Begin, offers a powerful orchestral introduction that takes us on a musical journey where the fusion of metal and classical music invites us to imagine, for 6 minutes and 27 seconds, that humanity itself may have been forgotten in space…”
‘Symphonique’ follows the release of VOÏVOD’s latest Juno Award-winning studio album, ‘Synchro Anarchy’ (2022), which reached #7 on the official album sales charts in Germany, #64 in Switzerland, #67 in Austria, and #88 in the Netherlands upon release. It also arrives after the band’s special 40th anniversary release, ‘Morgöth Tales’ (2023), from which a selection of videos can be found below.
Symphonique’ will be available in the following formats: => CD Jewelcase in O-Card => Gatefold 2LP (On either unlimited Black 180g double vinyl, 300x copies limited Yellow 180g double vinyl from Sony Music Canada Shop and EMP, or 300x copies limited Orange 180g double vinyl from VOÏVOD) => Digital Album

Jimmy Kay from The Metal Voice sat down with Voivod’s singer Denis ‘Snake’ Belanger and his partner and Artist Christine Mcdonald at BBAM Gallery in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on March 1, 2026.
Watch the full interview below.
The discussion revolved around Christine’s art and her stage 4 Cancer struggle and how the band and the fans started a Go fund me to assist with their expenses.
Also mentioned in the conversation was former Voivod Eric Forest (E-force) recent stage 3 cancer struggle and fans rallying for him.
Voivod Singer Snake also was asked if there were any updates about the upcoming Symphonic Voivod album, Snake said ‘It was complicated but it’s going to come out on June 5th (2026) There would be some singles coming out before that, but uh it’s coming out this year on June 5th. And it sounds great.”
He continued,” Francis (Perron Producer) captured the band but the orchestra was complicated to mix. I heard the last version (mix) and it was like, wow, it’s really trippy. You almost forget that there is an orchestra behind you. It feels natural. It’s a perfect blend. Voivod at its best. People said they’ve never experienced such a thing, with the combination of the music and imagery. For me I didn’t see it. I was like so concentrated on doing the right thing. You know it was stressful. No time to F**K up. Usually when you go on stage, ok I missed that part.” Doing this you couldn’t make errors. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life. Seriously, It was a challenge but I want to do it again and uh we’re going to do it again.”
Richmond, Virginia’s metal-punk trio, BAT, is thrilled to announce a spring U.S. tour alongside Canadian progressive sci-fi metal pioneers, VOIVOD. The eight-date trek begins in at Hell’s Heroes VIII in Houston on March 20th and concludes in Tulsa on March 27th. Fans can join BAT for an official afterparty immediately following the final show at 2 Minutes To Tulsa at The Whittier Bar.
Tickets for the tour go on sale this Friday, December 12th at 1pm local time via the below links.
Two nights only (Jan 29-30, 2025) at the world famous Place Des Arts Centre (Wilfrid Pelletier Hall), It’s Voivod meets The Montreal Symphony Orchestra for the first time, conducted by Dina Gilbert. It’s Progressive Thrash, meets Class. Today we talk opening night.
Voivod, hailing from Jonquière, Quebec 43 years ago now based in Greater Montreal, with the present line-up consisting of guitarist Daniel “Chewy” Mongrain (2008–present), bassist Dominic “Rocky” Laroche (2014–present) and co-founders vocalist Denis “Snake” Bélanger and, drummer Michel “Away” Langevin. The band found mainstream success in the late 1980s with their fifth studio album Nothingface (1989). However nothing has stopped this band’s upwards global momentum in the past decade and a testament to this are accolades such as the band winning the “Visionary” award at the 2017 Progressive Music Awards. In 2019, Voivod’s fourteenth studio album, The Wake, winning the Juno Award for Metal/Hard Music Album of the Year and in 2023 another Juno for Metal/Hard Music Album Of The Year’ Category For ‘Synchro Anarchy’
The band musically has never stopped evolving, changing and mutating, always putting the band musical challenges first and foremost and their fans joining them on their ride. The constant pivoting of the band also led them premiering their long anticipated documentary last year entitled WE ARE CONNECTED at the Fantasia Festival documenting the band’s journey to the present times. (more to come on that)
So this is where we are today, Voivod taking on yet another musical challenge of fusing their world, with the classical world.
I will be honest when the idea came out that Vovoid would do a symphonic performance I may have paused for a second saying, wha?? But as the idea settled it all seemed so clear, welcoming and exciting. The band’s music may sound punky, alternative and thrashy to the layman but when you peel away the layers of Voivod music the core is intricate, progressive, epic and precise. Which is exactly what Classical music is as well.
Jimmy Kay from The Metal Voice talks to all the members of Voivod and director Felipe Belalcazar at the Art Exhibition (BBAM) in Montreal, Canada before the premiere of the bands documentary WE ARE CONNCETED. The band members spoke about the making and completion of the long awaited (8-10 years) documentary on Voivod.
“We Are Connected”, received its world premiere July 29, 2024 at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal, Quebec. Canada.
