After the highly successful release of their second album March of the Unheard in January 2025 and their celebrated first European headlining tour, melodic death metal stars THE HALO EFFECT return with a powerful interpretation of DANZIG’s iconic track ‘How the Gods Kill’—originally released on the classic 1992 album Danzig III: How the Gods Kill.
This cover version was handpicked by front man Mikael Stanne, who shares: “During my teenage years the darkness and allure of the early Danzig albums introduced me to a whole new way of thinking about what rock and metal could be. Glenn’s vocals and lyrics were also incredibly influential on this aspiring vocalist/lyricist.”
The band brings a new weight and urgency to the track while preserving the brooding mystique of the original. With soaring guitar harmonies, thunderous rhythm, and Stanne’s commanding vocals, THE HALO EFFECT reinvents the classic through the lens of the Gothenburg sound.
THE HALO EFFECT will hit the road for summer festivals and some club shows. Here are the dates: 26.06. GR Thessaloniki – Rockwave Festival 28.06. FI Helsinki – Tuska Festival 17.07. Finish hard rock band, SERPICO, have released the 2nd single and music video for ‘Rock n Roll is Not Dead‘, the track is taken from their upcoming album ‘Dressed in flesh‘, which is set to be released September 12, 2025 via Golden Robot Records.
The phrase “Rock n’ roll is not dead” has always been close to my heart and plays such a big part in my life and in our band that I decided to write a song about it as soon as inspiration struck. It took a few years, but I believe the time is ripe right now because today’s rock n’ roll is basically missing exactly what I have always admired in rock n’ roll music: originality and authenticity. The idea for the song is actually based on the fact that at some point a large part of people in the music media were shouting that “Rock is dead” and blah blah… That is absolutely not true, rock n’ roll is alive and doing well. I hope commercial radio stations and other mainstream media would wake up to this as well. -Jani Serpico
SERPICO is:
Jani Serpico – Drums Matt Gee – Bass Vee Dour – Lead vocals Snage – Guitars
Serpico is a Finnish rock band founded in 2005. From the original lineup, vocalist Vee Dour (Kalle Virtanen) and guitarist Snage (Mika Muinonen) remain. The current lineup also includes drummer Jani “Serpico” Järvelin and bassist Matti “Matt Gee” Gustafsson.
With its first lineup, Serpico recorded a full-length album titled Utopia +358, which was never officially released. However, the EP Bad Commercial was released in 2011. These recordings were produced at Headline Studio in Tampere under the direction of Jani Viitanen, known from the band Yö.
In 2011, Serpico supported Mad Juana, the band led by Hanoi Rocks bassist Sami Yaffa. Three years later, the band released its first full-length album, Shallow Mistress, which was accompanied by a music video. In Levykauppa X’s annual poll for new bands, the album ranked fifth. Shallow Mistress was recorded at Headline Studio in Tampere. Serpico actively toured abroad, performing in the Baltic countries and Sweden alongside Bloody Heels, Rust’n’Rage, and Princess.
In 2018, Serpico released the album Rock Tattoo, featuring the first single Shout, which also received a music video. The video gained exposure on Klaus Flaming’s late-night music program on Radio Rock. Following the album’s release, the band embarked on a two-week tour of the UK, performing with Rust’n’Rage and various local bands.
That same year, Serpico performed alongside Michael Monroe at the MotoRockFest in Pori. In 2016, the band released Rock Tattoo’s second single and music video, Ain’t Better to Leave.
In 2016, Serpico opened for Hanoi Rocks guitarist Andy McCoy and also performed with Flesh Roxon. In 2017, the band continued touring and recorded the remaining tracks for Rock Tattoo. The album received positive international attention, with Slade’s frontman Noddy Holder mentioning Ain’t Better to Leave in his music column. Additionally, the Canadian YouTube channel A&P Reacts gave the album high praise.
In 2019, Serpico continued as a four-piece after Eddy’s departure from the band. This change also brought in producer Anssi Kippo, best known for his work with Children of Bodom. The band rehearsed intensively and recorded new material entirely in analog format on reel-to-reel tape.
That same year, Serpico signed an international recording and distribution deal with the Italian label Rockshots Records. Their album The Chosen Four was released in the summer of 2022 and received widespread positive feedback from various media outlets. Kamelot’s drummer Alex Landenburg personally praised the album. The track The Last Days of Monopoly features composition work by Kassu Halonen. Following the album’s release, the band appeared on the television show Soittakaa Paranoid, which included a Ville Juurikkala-directed music video for Dark Energy.
The following year, the band underwent a lineup change when bassist Matti Gustafsson replaced Antti Fager. Additionally, Serpico signed an international booking deal with Metal Bookings for the years 2021–2023. The agency arranges performances across Europe, Japan, South America, and Asia. In 2022, Serpico secured domestic booking representation with Stupido Live Booking.
In 2023, Serpico supported The 69 Eyes and, on short notice, traveled to England to perform at Geoff Tate’s Operation: Mindcrime 35th anniversary concert at the sold-out The Garage club in London.
In 2024, Serpico signed a release and distribution deal with the U.S.-based label Golden Robot Records. The new album Dressed in Flesh is set for release in September 2025. The album was once again recorded entirely in analog format at Astia Studio under Anssi Kippo’s direction, utilizing traditional production methods. Three singles will be released ahead of the album’s launch.

With its fiery guitar work and no-nonsense lyrics, “Trigger Finger” finds Bonamassa leaning into a grittier, more rocking sound that highlights the album’s adventurous spirit. Produced by Kevin Shirley (Iron Maiden, The Black Crowes, Journey), Breakthrough was crafted across Greece, Nashville, and Los Angeles, blending global influences into a dynamic, genre-bending collection.
“Trigger Finger” follows the release of the album’s title track “Breakthrough,” a soulful and uplifting anthem of transformation, along with the moody, introspective “Shake This Ground” and the warm, groove-driven “Still Walking With Me.” Each of these singles showcases a different facet of Bonamassa’s evolving artistry and the emotional range of Breakthrough, his most stylistically diverse studio effort to date.
With over 50 albums, 28 #1 Billboard Blues albums, and a lifelong commitment to evolving the genre, Joe Bonamassa continues to set the standard for modern blues-rock. Breakthrough promises to further cement his legacy as one of the most innovative guitarists and songwriters of his generation.
The new single arrives as Bonamassa rides a wave of momentum. Fresh off a European tour with his supergroup Black Country Communion, he now sets his sights on summer dates across Europe, including sold-out shows in Ireland and appearances at iconic festivals like Montreux Jazz Festival and Bospop. His U.S. summer tour kicks off July 31st at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, with stops at Vina Robles Amphitheatre, Red Rocks, and more. In September, Bonamassa will headline the Bourbon & Beyond Festival before setting sail on the sold-out Keeping the Blues Alive at SeaAlaska cruise.

“Harvester of Sorrow” is one of Metallica’s darkest tracks: from the initial verses “My life suffocates / Planting seeds of hate/ I’ve loved, turned to hate” Hetfield’s Demons evidently come alive, flaunting like ghosts on a catwalk on fire, accompanied by a saturated, black and oppressive sound. Frustration, sorrow, annihilation: everything coagulates in an imaginary of misery and desolation.
DARK REDEEMER choose to give a new voice to these demons and more: they exasperate and multiply them, they gather more of them together with their personal ones. They submerge in the original spirit and then elevate it to the umpteenth power.
This death metal version of “Harvester of Sorrow” is violent, atmospheric and sick: if the drumsticks powerfully hit the skins like an army of blacksmiths, the keyboards wrap everything with an obscure malignant aura; the growl devours every hint of light whilst the guitar and bass get sharper and abyssal.
The apocalyptic and anguished lyric video enhances the feeling of destruction and ruin and brings “Harvester of Sorrow” to the extreme edge of obscurity.
The track is already available on all digital stores.
Dark Redeemer were born in Italy, in summer 2018 from the ashes of Aleph, a progressive death metal band with four albums released between 2006 and 2018.
Since then the four deathsters turned the sonic coordinates of the band upside down by abandoning the more technical influences to dedicate themselves to a more raw and ferocious sound: a blend between the telluric impact of Swedish (Grave, Dismember, Entombed) and American death metal (Obituary, Morbid Angel, Immolation). The result is an uncompromising old school sonic assault with a strong identity.
Dark Redeemer leave the listeners breathless, they drag them in a powerful vortex of violence and malignity.
A black wave from the depth, a return to the roots of the “sound of death”.
The discographic debut of Dark Redeemer, “Into the Deep Black”, released on Blasphemous Records in 2021, was distributed internationally by Sleazy Records (USA), Code 7 (Europe), Wormhole Death Japan, Fans and Bands (Mexico), Egea Music (Italy) and on all digital stores worldwide.
After the release of their brutal version of “Harvester of Sorrow”, Dark Redeemer are working on their second album to be released by the end of the year. They promise a new even more obscure and violent chapter directly from the dark.
The line-up is compounded by Dave Battaglia (vocals, guitar), Manuel Togni (drums), Giulio Gasperini (keyboards), and Antonio Ceresoli (bass).
Following the previously-released, epic solo track, “Advent”, by Gus G., the iconic guitarist and founding Firewind member has teamed up with exceptional singer Ronnie Romero (Rainbow, ex-Michael Schenker Group a.o.) for not just an extensive European tour and festival appearances, but also the brand new video single “My Premonition”!
Gus G. comments:
“It’s been a while since I’ve collaborated with another artist and I’m really happy to team up with one of the best Rock singers of this generation, the amazing Ronnie Romero. Me & Ronnie have been friends for a few years and I’m glad we finally made some music together. I had recently finished this track that I worked on with my producer, Dennis Ward (Magnum, Unisonic, etc.) and I thought it would be perfect for Ronnie’s vocal style. If you’re a fan of Black Sabbath (Dio & Tony Martin era), then I think you’ll dig this one!
You can expect us to play “My Premonition” at the upcoming festival shows this summer, but also on our joint tour in Europe this Fall.”
Gus G. conquered global stages as Ozzy Osbourne‘s guitarist from 2009 to 2017, contributing to the Grammy nominated album “Scream” (2010). As the founder of the melodic power metal band Firewind, he boasts two decades of success, ten studio albums and countless tours. A celebrated solo artist, Gus has released acclaimed albums like “I Am the Fire” (2014) and “Brand New Revolution” (2015), with his latest release “Quantum Leap” (2021).
Being a sought after player, Gus has appeared as a guest on other artists albums including Bruce Dickinson, Arch Enemy, Doro Pesch, In This Moment, etc.
Gus has also left his mark in the music world by collaborating with premier companies to release his signature gear. This includes Jackson guitars, Blackstar amps, Seymour Duncan, Randall to name a few. In 2020 he launched his own guitar pickup company, Blackfire Pickups.
He has appeared on the cover of every major guitar magazine publication (Guitar World, Young Guitar, Total Guitar, etc.) and accolades include the Golden God “Best Shredder” and German Metal Hammer magazine’s God of Riffs awards among others. In a world where only the best come out on top, Gus G. is one of the most respected and renowned rock metal guitarists of our time.
After “Advent”, “My Premonition” featuring Ronnie Romero, who is known as the frontman of acts such as Rainbow, Michael Schenker Group, Lords Of Black, Elegant Weapons or from collaborations with Simon Phillips (Toto), Steve Morse (Deep Purple) and Robby Krieger (The Doors), is the new solo single by Gus G., and one that showcases the extra-ordinary, multi-faceted talents by both incredible artists. Make sure to catch them live on tour together at the upcoming dates listed below!

Bringing together two giants of American music, the new rendition of “Home Sweet Home” feat. Dolly Parton offers a powerful twist on the 1985 hit. Covenant House provides safe shelter, meals, hope and more to help youth experiencing homelessness.
Listen to “Home Sweet Home” featuring Dolly Parton HERE.
The members of Mötley Crüe shared in a joint statement, “‘Home Sweet Home’ was first released in 1985 as a single from our Theatre Of Pain album. We couldn’t be happier to celebrate the 40th anniversary of ‘Home Sweet Home’ in this special way, and we’re excited to share this version of the song with all the Dolly and Mötley fans around the world.”
The members add, “That we were able to unite with Dolly to raise awareness for homeless youth and the amazing work of Covenant House, which provides them safe housing and care, makes it even more special. We hope you’ll enjoy ‘Home Sweet Home’ featuring Dolly Parton as much as Dolly and we enjoyed creating it.”
Dolly Parton offered, “It was an honor and a joy working in the studio on Mötley Crüe’s 40th Anniversary re-release of ‘Home Sweet Home’. I was so pleased that they would ask me to sing on such a classic.”
