The new single from Costa Rican death metal horde MORTUAL, “Skeletal Vortex”, is now streaming in exclusive premiere via Mystification Zine. This is the second offering from the band’s debut album “Altar of Brutality”, out July 4th, 2025 on LP, CD and MC via Nuclear Winter Records.
A frenzied descent into death metal’s most malevolent depths, “Skeletal Vortex” expands on the savage groundwork laid by the album’s first single, delivering a whirlwind of blistering riffs, demonic vocals and relentless percussion. Reaffirming their unholy devotion to the old ways, MORTUAL offer no compromise, only absolute spiritual violence and riff-driven annihilation.
Spawned in the black rain and pestilent winds of San José, “Altar of Brutality” is a declaration of total spiritual negation: eight impure hymns steeped in decay, fanatic violence and the iconoclastic hunger to desecrate all that is sacred. Carrying forward the cursed legacy of their previous EP “Evil Incarnation”, MORTUAL now reach deeper into the void, channeling a darker, more oppressive sound, dripping with heretical intent and sharpened through years of relentless underground devotion.
This is not a reinvention, but a declaration, a brutal affirmation of death metal’s primal force. With “Altar of Brutality”, MORTUAL summon a vision of spiritual ruin and corporeal decay, wrapped in chains of riffs, blasts and unwavering intensity.

Steeped in the magic and mystery of an artist’s life in the Hollywood movie machinery, vintage-futurism storyteller Kelly Deco moves through space and time with imaginary twists on figures we sometimes see in the sky and know in our hearts. The album Constellation was produced by legendary and Grammy award winning music producer Val Garay (Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor, Kim Carnes, etc.) and released through Deko Entertainment. The album had eleven brand new songs with standout tracks “Automat Girl”, “David Bowie’s Brain”, and “Creature Dreams”. The album also boasts one of the last original artworks by famed artist Ioannis (Deep Purple, Alan Parson, Styx, etc…)
Now Kelly Deco is releasing a brand-new lyric video for “Automat Girl” from Constellation and had this to say about it, “Automat Girl, inspired by the 1920’s Edward Hopper painting, is a slice of Vintage-Futurism set in a not so distant future world.” So, sit back and enjoy the ride on another one of Kelly’s futuristic storytelling journeys.
“Songs with a mix of old 70s rock and futuristic spins on Bowie, Meatloaf, Anthony Newley, and Love. And upon listening to such standout tracks as ‘Destination Fascination,’ ‘Automat Girl,’ ‘Waiting for the Girl, and ‘Creature Dream,’ this goal was impressively obtained.” – Greg Prato – BraveWords
Tracklist: “Destination Fascination” “Turn It On” “David Bowie’s Brain” “Constellation” “Automat Girl” “Creature Dreams” “Waiting for the Girl” “Mr. Tomorrow” “Voyage to the Silver Sun” “Dancing at the Fall” “Gone”
Alt-rock heroes Dinosaur Pile-Up today drop their new single, the raucous heart-on-sleeve, Sick Of Being Down. The single is taken from their first new album in six years, I’ve Felt Better, which will be released on 22 August via Mascot Records. You can watch the lyric video for the trackHERE.
The band has also announced a special one-off show at the Leadmill, Sheffield, UK on 24 June as part of the venue’s farewell party, as well as an enormous tour of the US with A Day To Remember and Yellowcard from 22 October to 22 November.
The harrowing experience Matt Bigland went through when hospitalized with ulcerative colitis in critical care is one part of his story. Adjusting to life back home came with several challenges, which he channels on their new single. Sick Of Being Down is a grungy, mesmerizing treatise on the exhaustion of balancing mental health, taking us back to Matt’s lowest point and finding empowerment in how he made it out.
“Sick Of Being Down is essentially a post-traumatic existential breakdown articulated as a 3-minute garage punk rock song,” he says. “Trying to readjust myself to life after hospital was a really confusing journey. I felt conflicted about myself. What I liked and what I didn’t. What I was, what I wasn’t. All my priorities had changed; my ‘place’ in the world felt different, and that was a jarring feeling to navigate. I was experimenting with weed again to see if I could balance my mental state a little better, and one day, I was wondering if I was in a cycle of kind of self-fulfilling cause and effect; I’m sick of being down when I’m high, cos I’m high when I’m sick of being down.
The video features clips from vintage movies, including a few famous faces, for a wild ride. “I wanted the lyric video to be something surreal,” Matt explains. “The narrative of the song and the footage aren’t linked, but somehow create something new when forced together. It took a minute to find a piece of footage that worked, but in the end, I think we ended up with something really cool and kinda weird! It suits the song for me now.”
A recurring shining light of DPU in 2025 is the word ’empowerment’ – for all the difficulties Bigland has faced, he and the band have taken back control of their destiny. Channelling the worst of times into gold nugget after gold nugget, with I’ve Felt Better providing some of the most powerful songs they have ever written. If you’ve been rock bottom and found the strength to pull yourself up into the daylight, you can see hope, and since the release of their comeback single ‘Bout to Lose It, fans have rejoiced at their return.
This has propelled them through the singles that have followed. A barnstorming highlight, My Way, with a hip hop-inflected ode to staying true to oneself and staying angry at a twisted modern music industry that criminally underpays its creatives to the most recent banger, Big Dogs – a gleeful takedown of ass-backwards celebrity freebie culture where the richest and most successful always ‘eat for free’ while needy nobodies scrabble for scraps.
Dinosaur Pile-Up have absolutely roared back to life with formidable power – The best album they’ve made to date, alongside their hotly selling headline tour of the UK in September and an outrageously exciting tour of the US with A Day To Remember.

Celestial Wizard burst forth from the Colorado heavy metal scene in 2018 with all guns blazing, and is now an uncompromising sonic force looking to make its mark in the age of modern power metal with a melodic dual lead sound mixed with a death metal vocal styling.
Their third studio-album, “Regenesis” is a heavy, epic, vibrant offering that digs deep with its lyrical approach too. While sonically akin to the classic Swedish melo-death plot, the songs still stay true to the power metal-esque sound that truly defines the band.
The guys from Denver looked inward for their conceptual themes, wanting every track to feel as close-to-the-heart and culturally relevant as possible: from outlaws of the Wild West to cosmic rebirth, this effort covers an incredible amount of ground.
Each episode gives the listener a spirited and emotional experience: featuring a wider dynamic range of material than ever before, “Regenesis” has something for everyone!

Rosalie Cunningham is a multiple award-winning singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who first came to prominence through her former bands Purson and Ipso Facto. In 2019, Rosalie embarked on her solo career, releasing her Mercury Music Prize nominated, eponymous debut album earning herself a Top 10 placing in the UK’s official independent chart, and received rave reviews from Classic Rock, Uncut, Mojo and Kerrang.
Rosalie built on her burgeoning reputation as an original, thought-provoking songwriter and musician with the release of her second solo album Two Piece Puzzle to universal acclaim in 2022. Reviews included: The Times – 4/5 ‘fantastic’; Powerplay – 10/10 ‘a heady mix… infused with Rosalie’s unique ability to entertain and enthral the listener’; Shindig – 5/5 ‘sexy, loud and bursting with ideas’; Uncut – 8/10 ‘dazzling’.
Throughout the remainder of that year and 2023, an extensive touring schedule taking in venues and festivals throughout the UK and Europe gave audiences the opportunity to experience Rosalie’s compelling, captivating and charismatic live performance.
In January 2023, these, together with the acclamation afforded to Two Piece Puzzle, culminated in her being named Female Vocalist of the Year by the readers of PROG magazine. In November 2024 she released her studio album To Shoot Another Day to ecstatic reviews.
Brave Rival are a rock band on a mission. No gimmicks, no frills—just raw, high-energy, riff-driven rock that demands to be heard.
Since forming in 2019, the Portsmouth-based quartet—vocalist Lindsey Bonnick, guitarist Ed ‘the Shred’ Clarke, bassist Billy Dedman, and drummer Donna Peters—have built a reputation as one of the UK’s most electrifying live acts. Their debut album Life’s Machine (2022) put them on the map, catching the attention of critics, fans, and even Joe Bonamassa, who called them one of his “favourite discoveries.”
Their 2024 follow-up, Fight or Flight, upped the stakes, earning a 9/10 review from Classic Rock Magazine, who hailed it as “an album packed with ambition, fire, and killer songs.” With massive hooks, blistering guitar work, and unstoppable energy, the album set the stage for their biggest year yet—festivals, headline tours, and sharing stages with rock legends FM.
Jack J Hutchinson is a British blues-rock firebrand, known for his soulful vocals, searing guitar work, and a sound that blends classic rock swagger with modern grit. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, and The Beatles, his music channels the raw energy of vintage blues-rock while keeping one foot firmly in the present.
Hutchinson’s love for rock ‘n’ roll was ingrained early—his childhood was sound-tracked by Exile on Main Street, Revolver, and The Beatles’ iconic red and blue albums. But it was discovering Jimmy Page as a teenager that sealed the deal. “I bought some dragon flares and never looked back,” he recalls.
With a reputation for electrifying live shows and albums packed with riffs, hooks, and deep grooves, Hutchinson continues to carve his own path in the blues-rock world, earning a dedicated following and critical acclaim along the way.
