Storming metal unit SYLOSIS have released the video for the vitriolic ‘Soured Ground’, taken from their most recent EP, The Path. The band have also announced a limited vinyl run of the EP which can be purchased now from https://sylosis.bfan.link/the-pat
On the release of the new video, the band comments: “Following the success of The Path, it was clear that we had to immortalise these songs on some form of physical media. We knew the songs were strong, but did not expect them to connect with people the way that have. In light of this, we have a very limited pressing of the EP in coke bottle green with custom etching. The finished product is stunning and we can’t wait to share it with you. To further celebrate the release, we shot a new video for the song Soured Ground. This was the obvious choice for the video after seeing all the fan feedback. We have a limited number of signed vinyl available on our webstore and on tour in Europe this month. Be sure to grab yourself a copy, and we’ll see you on the road – Ali, Ben, Conor & Josh.”
SYLOSIS have a huge summer ahead as they hit up a host of the biggest metal festivals across Europe, alongside their own headline shows and some dates alongside labelmates IN FLAMES.

Stockholm experimentalists Gösta Berlings Saga have unveiled the new single ‘Ascension’, taken from their highly anticipated seventh studio album, Forever Now, out today via Pelagic Records.
The band comments on the new single: “‘Ascension’ might be the most exploratory track on Forever Now – born from a series of “what if” moments. We flipped ideas upside down, pulled them apart, and reassembled them in ways that made it all feel fresh and alive to play. Somehow, the chaos aligned, and what emerged was a track that opened up yet another passage into the forever that is now.“
Listen to the full album stream on YouTube here:
A masterful collision of intricate songwriting, raw rock spontaneity, and their signature disregard for genre limitations, Forever Now rests on no laurels; it’s a driving continuation of a journey that suggests, even after two decades and counting, the band’s best work may still be ahead of them.
On the new album, the band continues: “Super stoked to soon unleash Forever Now upon the world. It’s an album we’ve put our heart, soul and every atom of our beings into. Written, recorded, mixed and produced by ourselves it fills us with great pride that even after 20+ years we still find joy, creativity and new ways to approach music. Forever Now is a journey in search of small fragments of eternity within the present moment – where time dissolves, and music becomes the gateway to the infinite.“
Forever Now tracklist:
1. Full Release 2. Through The Arches 3. Arrangements 4. Forever Now 5. The Sprig and the Birch 6. Fragment II 7. Ascension 8. Dog Years 9. Make of Your Heart a Stone 10. Ceremonial
Gösta Berlings Saga began in 2000 with a creative spark keenly felt between keyboardist David Lundberg and drummer Alexander Skepp. Taking formative inspiration from the ‘60s jazz fusion improvisations of fellow Swedes Hansson & Karlsson, Gösta Berlings Saga broadened their sonic palette with the addition of bassist Gabriel Tapper and guitarist Mathias Danielsson before the release of their debut album Tid Är Ljud in 2006. Danielsson subsequently left the project to be replaced by Einar Baldursson, contributing to the darker and more complex sound of 2009’s Detta Har Hänt, 2011’s Glue Works and 2016’s Sersophane.
The overt manipulation of sound and melody on this trio of early releases helped set Gösta Berlings Saga apart from the rest of the progressive pack, swerving easy cliché and navel gazing nostalgia in favour of a fervently forward-thinking ethos. Undoubtedly influenced by the greats of prog, art-rock, electronica and the avant-garde, Gösta Berlings Saga have remained thrillingly impervious to categorisation.
2017 saw another evolution within the band as Baldursson left to be replaced with Rasmus Booberg whilst percussionist and multi-instrumentalist Jesper Skarin also joined the ranks. Rejuvenated and revitalised, Gösta Berlings Saga’s subsequent albums, ET EX (2018) and Konkret Music (2020), introduced a whole new audience to the band’s idiosyncratic fearless experimentation, breakneck rock ‘n’ roll infused with even more found sound electronics and sonic obscura. Uncompromising and utterly distinct, these albums solidified the band’s belief that staying true to their own artistic vision was always the only way forward.
Forever Now is 10 tracks of hand-crafted chaos that bear all the brilliance of Gösta Berlings Saga’s 25 years of irreverent innovation. Entirely written, recorded, produced and mixed by the band for the very first time, the album sees synthesizers and arpeggiated guitars spiral ever higher, colliding with helter skelter percussion and pulse-racing drums on the way, whilst the band’s innate trust in each other and in their music form the propulsive core of a perpetual energy engine five years in the making.
Although not established as a concept album as such, personal tragedies during the early writing process ultimately left their mark. For a time the band tried to separate their collective creativity from the events of their private lives but, rather than grief and darkness making their presence felt, Gösta Berlings Saga built this album on the pursuit of the eternal – a euphoric glimpse beyond time, where music becomes a bridge between the present and what was and will be, echoing connections that never fade.

#1 Global Power Metal Band and one of Sweden’s most successful bands SABATON—Joakim Brodén (vocals), Pär Sundström (bass), Chris Rörland (guitar), Thobbe Englund (guitar), Hannes, Van Dahl (drums)—have unveiled their second single and cinematic video, “Hordes Of Khan” from their forthcoming 11th studio album which is due out later this year, marking their Better Noise Music debut.
“The story behind our new single ‘Hordes Of Khan’ was a great one to take a deep dive into,” says singer Joakim Brodén. “The song actually turned out to have way more depth than we expected. Genghis Khan wasn’t just a conqueror; he was a complex figure who left behind a huge legacy. He built the largest contiguous empire in history, stretching far beyond Mongolia, and his influence only grew after his death. Honestly, we couldn’t have picked a more suitable subject for the new direction SABATON is heading in! ‘Hordes of Khan’ hits hard, and it’s heavy for good reason. We know our fans crave heavy music, and we’re pumped to see how they react to this one. Hopefully, it’s a track they’ll be blasting on repeat!”
As bassist Pär Sundström explains,”Joakim wanted to write a proper heavy metal song, and as we’ve seen from past releases, a lot of our fans appreciate pure fucking heavy metal! That’s what ‘Hordes Of Khan’ is, and when you listen to it and close your eyes, you can imagine Genghis Khan on his horse, galloping to battle. Joakim composed the music and I actually wrote the lyrics for this one. When I started to work on them, I realized the melody was pretty complicated. Honestly, they were some of the most difficult lyrics that I’ve ever written. All in all, I’m very happy with the result, especially as Joakim has said that parts of the lyrics are some of SABATON’s best to date.”
The music video for “Hordes of Khan” is based in the future, in the year 2045. It was filmed in London at two different locations, the Natural History Museum and at Harrow School, and follows the main character–a young girl–who plays in a heavy metal band and loves SABATON, but she won’t ever have the opportunity to see the band play because in 2039, all wars have miraculously ended. The world is now peaceful, and war is obsolete and therefore, so is SABATON. The girl hears about a museum that’s featuring a SABATON exhibit with all of the band members’ musical instruments. The girl and her band sneak into this museum to check it out. Once inside, they are greeted by a hologram telling the story about the musical instruments of SABATON that contain magic that brings history to life. The kids take no notice, pick up the instruments and begin to play.
Once the music begins, a ferocious Genghis Khan comes to life along with five other legendary soldiers played by the band members. Their mission is to stop Genghis before he escapes the museum to take over the world.
“When reflecting on all of the music videos we’ve ever created,” says Pär Sundström, “our ‘Hordes of Khan’ music video was the most exciting in a lot of ways, even though ‘Christmas Truce’ is a much more emotional topic and story. I think this one specifically contains much more depth and action, and in combination with the locations and the actors, I’m confident that it will resonate with everyone!”
The children acting in the music video had their work cut out for them. They didn’t just want it to look like they were playing the instruments, they actually wanted the kids to really play the instruments and perform the song correctly. They thought it was going to be super challenging, but in this case they all learned the song by heart and performed it. “We were really proud of them all! What people see in the video is playback, but all of them know their parts and they can play ‘Hordes Of Khan’ for real,” Sundström continues. “We loved seeing that happen! Our ex-drummer Daniel Mullback’s son played the drums and acted in this music video as well, and he absolutely nailed it. Another amazing drummer in the making!”
SABATON have always had a signature focus on writing songs about historical battles, wars, and acts of heroism that have solidified their impact with their loyal and longtime fans. SABATON have accumulated more than three billion streams across all streaming platforms and almost two billion views on YouTube.
“Hordes of Khan” is the follow-up to “Templars,” which was released April 25 on digital outlets. You can hear “Templars” (which has been streamed over 8 million times) HERE, and watch the music video (which has been viewed over 2.5 million times)HERE.

After nearly being laid to rest, MARSH TEA makes a triumphant return. Known for crafting emotionally intense and technically intricate progressive metal, the Jyväskylä-based band made an immediate impression with their first singles, like ‘Mirrors’, ‘Chairs’, and ‘Convert My Dreams’. Single’s sparked high expectations for the band’s debut album, but when the album was ready to be released, Marsh Tea went to halt.
Following a period of reflection and the formation of a new lineup, fans of progressive metal are treated today with the full experience of ‘Disturbances In Movements’ album. Originally recorded by the band’s previous lineup, the release marks both a cleansing of the slate and the beginning of a new chapter in Marsh Tea’s story.
“’Disturbances In Movements’ is an album that reflects a deep personal confusion – the feeling of being insignificant”, says bassist and founding member Nils Ursin. “There’s a lot of anger and despair channelled into these songs. The lyrics are fragments of thoughts; words shouted in my head during difficult moments. Letting them out was a form of relief. The album has a personal narrative for me, one that formed as I worked through the lyrics with Valtteri Revonkorpi. But that is a story I don’t want to reveal – I hope that listeners find their own stories in the music.”
“The track called ‘Grown’ is about the moment when you recognize the person in the mirror as yourself again – for the first time in a long time. I’ve always promised to be there for my loved ones. My intentions were strong, but somewhere along the way I lost myself. I became transparent and invisible. I carry scars that aren’t mine. I wish I didn’t have to, but there’s no other option. My self-image is slowly returning, though sometimes I have to remind myself of who I am.”
The Disturbances In Movements album was created by Nils Ursin together with Valtteri Revonkorpi (drums) and Teemu Liekkala (guitars, vocals, mixing). When Ursin expressed a desire to take the project live, Revonkorpi and Liekkala stepped aside to focus on their other project, Rioghan.
“Once the album was finished, my hunger for more grew out of proportion. That led to a situation where our time together with Teemu and Valtteri just wasn’t enough anymore. I pushed hard to get the band ready for live shows—too hard, in fact. When they left, Marsh Tea was ready to be buried. But with the encouragement of people close to me, I decided to give it one last chance.”
Marsh Tea’s new lineup includes an impressive roster of professional musicians: – Tony Kaikkonen (Red Eleven) – vocals – Mikki Rousi (Dead Season, ex-Humavoid) – guitar – Jaska Raatikainen (Children of Bodom, Mercury Circle) – drums – Nils Ursin (Trio Niskalaukaus) – bass
The band is currently working on new music with the refreshed lineup. Ursin confirms that live performances are also on the horizon – once the time is right.
