ABOUT SABATON: In more than two decades since the band’s launch, SABATON has headlined major festivals, sold-out arena concerts worldwide and gained a legion of loyal fans by carving out a reputation for being one of the hardest working bands in the business. Since their 2005 debut album, they’ve earned Gold, Platinum, and multi-Platinum certifications in territories around the world with their eleven studio albums. They’ve also had eight albums score Top 10 international chart status, and six claim the Top 5. The band has earned eight Metal Hammer/Golden Gods Awards nominations, taking home the award for ‘Breakthrough Artist’ in 2011 and ‘Best Live Band’ in three different years, and a Grammis nomination (Swedish equivalent to the U.S. GRAMMY) as Best Heavy Metal Band.
In 2008, SABATON hosted the first edition of its annual, three-day music festival, SABATON Open Air, in Sweden. The year after, the highly popular SABATON Cruise was introduced, which sails out of Stockholm each year for epic sea adventures and live acts. A pivotal point in the band’s history was the debut of the SABATON History Channel in 2019, which uses the power of music and storytelling to dive into the stories behind every song with documentary-style videos.
In March 2022, the band’s tenth studio album The War To End All Wars dropped, revisiting WW1 and featuring eleven songs. To conclude the band’s chapter on the First World War, the quintet released an EP trilogy on 30th September 2022, entitled Echoes Of The Great War. The band embarked on The Tour To End All Tours and The Great Swedish Tour in 2022/2023. In April 2023, the band was recognised by the Swedish Skeptics Association with the highly regarded ‘Enlightener of the Year Award’, making SABATON the first ever rock band to receive such an honour.
In June 2023, SABATON launched History Rocks, a global museum charity project which revolved around the band’s new animated film, The War To End All Wars – The Movie, which was screened in 140 museums around the world. The film was later released on major video streaming services in May 2025. In 2024, SABATON celebrated the global premiere of their concert film SABATON – The Tour To End All Tours. They released their eleventh studio album Legends in October 2025, before embarking on The Legendary Tour 2025.
Ultimately, SABATON refuses to be slotted into a genre. Fans need only know them as SABATON, the heavy metal band that sings of real-life wars and the people who played a part in them; true stories more fantastic than any fiction.
SABATON are excited to announce that their explosive concert film “Sabaton – The Tour To End All Tours” has officially landed on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV andYouTubein a wide range of territories.
This means fans can now experience The Tour To End All Tours – which travelled across Europe in 2023 and hit cinemas worldwide in 2024 – from the comfort of their sofas, bringing the SABATON energy straight into their living rooms.
‘Sabaton – The Tour To End All Tours’ means a great deal to the band. This show was recorded at a completely sold-out Ziggo Dome in 2023 in Amsterdam, where thousands of fans came together to share an unforgettable night.
For those who know SABATON’s story, this concert carried special significance. When they first played in the Netherlands six years after they formed, it was in front of a handful of people. Looking back at that moment and comparing it to the packed arena of Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome is truly mind-blowing.

“This was an unexpected surprise and a very welcome one,” says SABATON bassist Pär Sundström. “Sabaton never takes any support for granted, so this means a lot to us! To have this news just before we are heading over to start our North American tour makes us extra excited to come and play for our American fans!”
“This is a huge milestone for us,” continues Joakim Brodén. “Reaching the Top 10 on the Billboard ‘Mainstream Rock Airplay’ chart for the first time is something we’re very proud of, especially in the U.S.! Seeing ‘Crossing the Rubicon’ connect with rock radio and fans the way it has is an amazing feeling. We couldn’t have done this without the support of our record label, Better Noise Music, our listeners, radio stations, and of course our labelmates, NOTHING MORE!”
SABATON’s Top Ten success has reinforced Better Noise Music’s position as “The Artist Development Company” and built on the label’s other radio/chart successes with NOTHING MORE, whose current album Carnal achieved four #1 rock hits, and THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT, who this week have landed their third #1 rock hit with “Dark Thoughts.”
Better Noise Music President/COO Steve Kline says:“Sabaton’s breakthrough into the Top 10 is a huge milestone, that reflects the band’s broad appeal. This achievement also speaks to the strength of our artist development efforts. Congratulations to Jackie Kajzer for leading the charge on radio and helping Sabaton reach this exciting new level.”
Meanwhile, the band andBetter Noise Films has announced the launch of “You’re History,” a new episodic horror YouTube miniseries that merges heavy music, horror, and historical stories. Released in connection with their 11th studio album LEGENDS (October 17, 2025, via Better Noise Music) and marking the band’s label debut, the series was created and directed by actor, director and Chief Creative Officer Michael Lombardi (The Retaliators, Rescue Me, The Deuce) and written by The Geare Brothers.
The official trailer premiered exclusively viaBloody Disgusting and can be viewedHERE. The pilot episode is now available to streamHERE, which features “Crossing the Rubicon” reimagined through a visceral slasher narrative inspired by Julius Ceasar. It stars horror icon Jeffrey Combs (Re-Animator, Frighteners) and Sirius XM personality Jose Mangin as one of its lead characters. Additional episodes of “You’re History” will air in 2026 and continue to combine various rock and metal songs and artists, horror icons, and infamous historical figures.
“‘Crossing the Rubicon’ and the ‘You’re History’ series was born from the creative DNA we live by at Better Noise Music,” says Lombardi. “As Chief Creative Officer, I’ve always believed we’re not just a record label—we’re a storytelling company that thinks outside the box. We don’t operate like an assembly line; we go deep with our artists, their lyrics, and the worlds they create, and that collaborative energy is what sparked this series.”
“Sabaton are a fascinating band because they bring world history to life. We wanted to combine our love of rock, horror, and storytelling to show how music like theirs can make history feel epic and alive,” Lombardi adds. “YouTube has now become the frontline of modern culture. Long-form storytelling, shorts, and everything in between now live side by side, and that hybrid format is changing how fans discover music, artists, and narratives. With ‘You’re History,’ I’m leaning all the way into that shift—building a world that can exist as a bingeable miniseries, as trailer moments, as shorts, and as music-driven content that lives and breathes on the platform. This is the kind of boundary-pushing, multimedia storytelling that Better Noise was built to do—and ‘Crossing the Rubicon’ is just the beginning. Each episode of ‘You’re History’ will collide heavy music, major rock stars, horror icons, and infamous historical figures into a wild, dark ride.”
“When Michael presented me the idea by saying it’s Sabaton colliding with history and horror I was in right away,” says Jose Mangin. “I’m proud to be involved with this and had so much fun playing Coach Vasquez in this mini horror movie. I can’t believe Jeffrey Combs in this too?! Whenever I can get bloody and physical, I’m all about it. Working with Michael was awesome, and I look forward to doing more with him and horror in the future!”
Better Noise Music has a busy 2026 ahead of them, with new releases coming soon from From Ashes To New, The HU, Dirty Heads, Five Finger Death Punch, and more. Stay tuned for exciting news coming soon.

Coming off the announcement of a massive 2025 worldwide tour including a 31-date North American run set for early 2026, SABATON (@sabatonofficial) today (October 17) release their much-anticipated 11th studio album LEGENDS via Better Noise Music (marking the band’s label debut). It features the latest single and accompanying video, “I, Emperor,” based on the complex and controversial Napoleon Bonaparte, by the #1 Global Power Metal Band and one of Sweden’s most successful bands.
Listen to “I, Emperor” HERE and watch the boardgamer meets Napoleon-themed video HERE.
Throughout the album, SABATON—Joakim Brodén (vocals), Pär Sundström (bass), Chris Rörland (guitar), Thobbe Englund (guitar), Hannes Van Dahl (drums)—delve into some of history’s greatest and most loved characters such as Jeanne D’arc (also known as Joan of Arc), Hannibal, Genghis Khan, Vlad the Impaler, Julius Caesar, the Knights Templar, and the legendary swordmaster Miyamoto Musashi.

This 11th studio album marks a bold evolution in the band’s sound and storytelling, plunging headfirst into the heart of history’s most formidable and enigmatic figures. These are not just rock songs; they are battle hymns carved from the blood and legacy of warriors, kings, strategists and revolutionaries.
For the album’s sixth single, “I, Emperor,” the band is setting their sights on the complex and controversial Napoleon Bonaparte, who rose to fame during the French Revolution and became a hero after his Italian campaign. He took power as First Consul, then crowned himself Emperor. Known for his brilliant military tactics, he beat major European powers in battles like Austerlitz and Rivoli. He also reformed laws with the Napoleonic Code, but his ambition caught up with him after a failed invasion of Russia and defeat at Waterloo, and he was exiled.
“Epic battles, bold moves and a rise from nothing to emperor,” explains frontman Joakim Brodén. “Napoleon is straight up legendary and his story is basically built for a SABATON song. Plus, this one was greatly—and I mean greatly—requested by fans. So here it is… you asked, we delivered!”
Continues bassist Pär Sundström: “I was excited about ‘I, Emperor,’ because I’ve seen countless requests for us to write a song about Napoleon, which is usually a sign that fans will get excited about a song. This one’s got that anthem energy, and we’ve got a feeling it’s gonna be a fan favorite.” He adds: “It’s punchy, powerful and seriously catchy, that’s something we all felt when Joakim was singing along to the music during the filming of the video for the song. I can’t wait to hear what everyone thinks. I’m curious to see if fans think this one should make it into the setlist for future shows!”
The accompanying music video is a tribute to one of Sundström’s favorite childhood hobbies, board games. The concept was to create a historical board game replay of the Battle of Waterloo, with the twist being that the band members are the ones deciding the fate of the battle without being aware of it. Joakim took on the role of the French, while Pär and guitarist Chris Rörland represented the British, and drummer Hannes Van Dahl and guitarist Thobbe Englund represented the Prussians.
It was set up to depict Joakim versus the rest of the band, since he had studied a book detailing how Napoleon should have fought the battle in order to achieve victory. In the video, he uses that knowledge to outplay his band members completely, and wins. But his victory doesn’t just end the game; it rewrites history. When they leave the gaming room, they discover that the British pub they started off in has transformed into a French café. The band ended up in an alternate reality where France actually won the Battle of Waterloo.
For the ‘I, Emperor’ music video shoot, Joakim brought along a stack of books, each one connected to Sabaton History Channel (that has over 364k subscribers) topics and songs the band have written about over the years, and Pär showed up with a collection of collectible board games to help set the scene. They even took a trip to a local second-hand market to pick up extra props and decorations to make the set look exciting. It was a proper mix of research, geekiness, and treasure hunting.
LEGENDS marks the very first time that every band member has come together to contribute to the songwriting process. This is SABATON as you’ve never heard them before—relentless and unbound. LEGENDS is a global journey through the annals of warfare, leadership and unbreakable will.

“Working with our American brothers in NOTHING MORE on our new single ‘Crossing The Rubicon’ has been an absolute pleasure,” says frontman Joakim Brodén. “When we shared the song with the guys, they really liked it and were genuinely excited about a collaboration, which got us really pumped. There’s something powerful about bringing two worlds together in music.”
“I’m really glad we got the chance to team up with our new labelmates NOTHING MORE for this one,” continues bassist Pär Sundström. “Collaborating with them added a cool touch. This one’s a special treat for both their fans and ours!”
NOTHING MORE frontman Jonny Hawkins says, “This song awakens that old, war spirit in me and makes me want to ride a horse straight into the gates of hell. I’m proud to be a part of it with such an incredible band like Sabaton.”
“We are very honored and excited to release this collaboration with our newfound Swedish labelmates Sabaton,” adds NOTHING MORE guitarist Mark Vollelunga. “It was fun to do something a little different than we were used to, and we’re stoked they wanted us to put our special NOTHING MORE sauce on their Scandinavian Metal.”
Throughout the aptly titled LEGENDS, SABATON—Joakim Brodén (vocals), Pär Sundström (bass), Chris Rörland (guitar), Thobbe Englund (guitar), Hannes Van Dahl (drums)—delve into some of history’s greatest and most loved characters such as Jeanne D’arc (also known as Joan of Arc), Napoleon Bonaparte, Julius Caesar, and the legendary swordmaster Miyamoto Musashi.
For “Crossing The Rubicon,” their focus is on Julius Caesar, who rose to prominence in the Roman Republic as consul. He enacted reforms to reduce corruption and ease taxation while leading his legions to victories in Gaul, defeating tribes like the Arverni, Helvetii and Belgae, and expanding Roman territory to the Rhine and Danube rivers. As his influence grew, political rivals became increasingly hostile. In response, he famously crossed the Rubicon, igniting a civil war. After defeating his enemies in Italy, Greece, and Egypt, he returned to Rome with dictatorial powers, implementing the Julian calendar and modernizing public works. However, on the Ides of March in 44 B.C., he was assassinated by Senate conspirators, ending his rule but leaving a significant legacy as a master strategist and ambitious leader who reshaped Rome’s future.
“Everyone knows the phrase ‘Veni, vidi, vici,’” says bassist Pär Sundström. “It’s iconic, just like Caesar himself. He was a force of nature who reshaped an entire empire. And his story…well it’s pure Sabaton material. When we did some internal trials of the new songs and got our closest friends and colleagues to listen to it, we quickly noticed that this was one of the—if not the—top tracks from our new album. Let’s see if the fans agree.”
“Julius Caesar is an incredibly intriguing figure,” continues singer Joakim Brodén, “and let’s be real, he’s known all around the world for a reason! His story is legendary. He was a brilliant general, a bold leader, and a trailblazer of ancient history. His story has war, ambition, betrayal…everything that fits right into the world of Sabaton. He didn’t just fight battles; he changed the course of history. That mix of strategy, drama, and raw power made him a go-to choice for LEGENDS.”
LEGENDS will be available across various physical formats and retailer exclusives including CD, 2 CD digibook, 2 CD earbook (both including the exclusive Storyteller Edition), 11 unique vinyl editions (including a special vinyl color and exclusive artwork each), additional exclusive vinyl colors, and a limited box set (including another exclusive vinyl color, the 2 CD earbook, and a colored cassette as an exclusive format). Pre-orders are available HERE.
Among 11 unique vinyl editions, each one portraying one legendary figure, LEGENDS will be available as the “Julius Caesar Edition.”

SABATON have always had a signature focus on writing songs about historical battles, wars, and acts of heroism that have solidified their impact with their loyal and longtime fans. They’ve collaborated closely with its network of specialists, developed over the years since the launch of the Sabaton History Channel on YouTube, to make sure this new album is once again as close to reality as possible.
They continue to work with graphic artist Peter Sallai to create the striking album artwork, and producer Jonas Kjellgren is once again behind the boards from his Swedish Black Lounge Studios to create the classic SABATON sound the band is now known for.
Four songs have already been released from LEGENDS: “The Duelist” and “Lightning at the Gates” (July 25), “Hordes of Khan” (June 6) and “Templars” (April 25):

In the more than two decades since the band’s launch, SABATON has headlined major festivals, sold-out arena concerts worldwide, and gained a legion of loyal fans by carving out a reputation for being one of the hardest working bands in the business. Since their 2005 debut album, they’ve earned Gold, Platinum, and multi-Platinum certifications in territories around the world with their 10 studio albums. Eight of their albums scored Top 10 international chart status, and six claimed the Top 5. SABATON has earned eight Metal Hammer/Golden Gods Awards nominations, taking home the award for “Breakthrough Artist” in 2011 and “Best Live Band” in three different years, and a Grammis nomination (Swedish equivalent to the U.S. Grammy Award) as Best Heavy Metal band. They’ve accumulated more than three billion streams across all streaming platforms and two billion views on YouTube.
