Blackened deathcore quintet Ov Sulfur are celebrating 25 years of Slayer‘s seminal God Hates Us Allby giving fans a new cover off that same groundbreaking record: “Disciple”. Stream it now here or watch the video below.
Guitarist Chase Wilson comments: “‘God Hates Us All’ has always been one of my favourite Slayer records. I’m stoked we got to put our spin on one of the sickest songs on it!”
Vocalist Ricky Hoover adds: “I was excited when the guys decided to do a Slayer cover, as it allowed me to see if I could hit Tom Araya style vocals. He’s a unique, stand-out voice in metal, and it was fun to see if I could add his signature melodic shouting to my repertoire.”
Ov Sulfur released their latest album, Endless, earlier this year, with media hailing it as “heavy, dark, complex” (Metal Sucks) and “a confident and classy stride forward” (Blabbermouth). Propelled by the vocalizations of frontman Ricky Hoover, Ov Sulfur pushes the boundaries of their deathcore origins on this record, simultaneously embracing black metal while exploring a surprising degree of melody that never dilutes their genre-decimating approach. Read the full bio here.
Having just finished a successful North American tour with DevilDriver, Ov Sulfur are now preparing to make their maiden European voyage this November/December — as co-direct support to Mental Cruelty alongside Extermination Dismemberment. See below for all dates!

With their new single and video, “Arch of the Sky,” Finland’s masters of melancholy delve into the realm of mythology. Ville Friman (guitar, clean vocals) comments: “‘Arch of the Sky’ introduces a proggier side of the ‘Netherworlds’, featuring time signature changes and Insomnium’s trademark blend of mellow passages and heavier sections. Lyrically, the song is inspired by Sámi mythology, in which celestial hunters pursue a deer across the arch of the sky in perpetual motion. According to the legend, if the deer were ever caught, the world would come to an end as the roof of the sky collapsed.”

Ever since emerging from the mist-shrouded city of Joensuu in the heart of North Karelia, INSOMNIUM has stood as a beacon for those drawn to melancholy, introspection, and the beauty found within darkness. Over the course of their career, the band has carved out a unique place in the metal world, crafting epic soundscapes where sorrow and hope coexist, and where haunting melodies meet the raw power of melodic death metal.
Now, for the tenth time, INSOMNIUM opens the door to a new chapter. Their new album is a journey deeper into the shadows, steeped in the unmistakable spirit of Finnish melancholy and enriched by the band’s most nuanced and emotionally resonant songwriting to date. Sweeping atmospheres, poignant melodies, and crushing heaviness intertwine to create a work that is both deeply personal and universally affecting.
Never content to rest on past achievements or repeat familiar formulas, INSOMNIUM continues to evolve with each release. Rather than revisiting established ground, the band explores new emotional and sonic territories, broadening its artistic palette while preserving the qualities that have made its sound instantly recognizable. The result is an album that feels both fresh and timeless: a bold step forward that remains unmistakably INSOMNIUM at its core.
Behind the scenes, “Netherworlds” also marks the beginning of a new production era for INSOMNIUM. Taking on a pivotal role throughout the album’s creation, producer and engineer Miiro Varjus emerged as the band’s closest creative confidant, helping to shape and refine the record’s sonic landscape. His meticulous approach and deep understanding of the band’s artistic vision proved instrumental in bringing the album’s dark, immersive atmosphere to life.
Once again INSOMNIUM entrusted the album to the renowned team at Fascination Street Studios. Acclaimed producer and mixer Jens Bogren, together with mastering engineer Tony Lindgren, delivered the album’s powerful final sound. The result is a record that sounds both majestic and intimate, perfectly capturing the emotional weight and dynamic range that defines this new chapter in INSOMNIUM’s evolution.
The long-awaited fourth album from Green Lung is finally upon us. The masters of occult riff-craft have officially released Necropolitan, which is out now via Nuclear Blast Records. A huge step forward in songwriting and vision, Necropolitan is the album Green Lung have been threatening to make since their inception.
As well as a portrait of the triumph and power of death and nature over the dreams and dominion of humankind, Necropolitan is a grand celebration of the folklore, occult and heavy music scene of the band’s birthplace, the city of London. The album title derives from the seven garden cemeteries (necropoli) circling the city, all built in the Victorian era.
Green Lung stated: “As the summer dies, the shadows start to move… Necropolitan is finally here. Thanks to everyone who has preordered, supported or spread the word about this album over the past few months – we are eternally grateful, and can’t wait for you to finally hear it. To celebrate the release, we commissioned Joseph Brett at Jackdaw Films to animate Richard Wells’s art and create our own danse macabre. Dance to the grave!’”
Today, the band have also revealed a visualiser for ‘Dance to the Grave‘, the record’s first track. The song delivers a memento mori to the current alliance between far-right politics and tech in the face of the climate crisis, with giant, swinging riffs and a chant-along mid-section.
On the week that Necropolitan is released, Green Lung will be visiting some selected record stores to sign vinyl and CDs, plus fans will have the chance for a photo op with their very own Goatwizard. Head to greenlung.co.uk for more details! And keep your eyes peeled for more events as we get closer to release…
Later this year, Green Lung will be embarking on their European Dance to the Grave Tour MMXXVI. Special guests will be High On Fire with support from Gnome. The tour poster was designed by the band’s frequent collaborator, Richard Wells.

With producer Tom Dalgety (Opeth, Ghost) at the helm, this time handling everything from recording to mixing, the band decamped to Rockfield Studios in January 2026, following in the muddy footprints of some of their key inspirations, from Black Sabbath to Queen to Judas Priest. Sonically, they were set on capturing their megalithic live sound more accurately than ever – stripping back their usual dense, multilayered arrangements to their rawest, leanest form and recording much of the album live to capture their Sabbathian heaviness, frenzied Hammonds and haunting Mellotrons as faithfully as possible.
The result is an album that combines the soaring hookiness of This Heathen Land with an uncompromising rawness and heaviness, and takes the band’s distinctive brand of sonic storytelling to macabre new heights.
If, a year after Black Sabbath’s Back to the Beginning show and the death of Ozzy Osbourne, you had any doubts about the future of traditional British metal, Necropolitan will lay them to rest. Here is a band taking the torch from the heavy metal godfathers and running with it, bursting with all the musicianship and storytelling flair that has kept the genre’s flame burning for a half-century, and using it to temper a lyrical and sonic world that is entirely their own.
A cult band in every sense of the word, Green Lung emerged from London’s heavy rock scene with self-released debut EP Free the Witch (2018).
Drawing on a host of peculiarly British musical influences, from doomy hard rock to pastoral prog and psych to the Hammer Horror theatrics of the NWOBHM, the band have swiftly risen to the forefront of the UK metal scene.
Lyrically celebrating the folklore, myths and legends of Britain, they conjure the wild and witchy spirit of their forebears for a new generation.
Green Lung have released three critically acclaimed albums, Woodland Rites (2019), Black Harvest (2021) and This Heathen Land (2023). They have toured internationally with Clutch, Opeth and Unto Others, and performed on festival stages from Roadburn to Download. Their latest album This Heathen Land landed at #1 on the UK’s Official Rock and Metal Album Chart.

SIGNUM REGIS stands for finest melodic Power Metal with both progressive and symphonic elements. Their upcoming new and eighth studio album „Beyond Spacetime“ will be released on October 9th through Fireflash Records.
„Beyond Spacetime“ will feature different vocalists. Among them their current singer Mayo Petranin, who just returned to the band, his successor Jota Fortinho as well as top class names, such as Ripper Owens (ex-JUDAS PRIEST), Matt Smith (THEOCRACY), Ralf Scheepers (PRIMAL FEAR), Johnny Gioeli (HARDLINE, AXEL RUDI PELL), Tasos Lazaris (STEEL ARCTUS, WHITE WIZZARD), David Åkesson (SYMPHONITY, QUANTICE), but also Victor Smolski (ALMANAC, ex-RAGE), with a guitar solo on „Throne Of Gold“.
Today, SIGNUM REGIS release their new single for the album opening track “Time To Pay“, featuring ex-JUDAS PRIEST vocalist Tim “Ripper” Owens. “”Time to Pay” is probably my favorite track on the album. I think Filip didn’t write it with a specific singer in mind, but it ended up being the perfect fit for the one and only Tim “Ripper” Owens. His drive is unmatched, his voice so unique that you can recognize him from miles away. Overall, this song captures passion for metal at its finest”, comments bassist and founding member Ronnie König.
The upcoming new album “Beyond Spacetime“, will be released on a CD Jewelcase (with the exclusive bonus-track “Tell Our Fears Goodbye” feat. Johnny Gioeli on vocals) and on a limited, colored (sunny yellow) Vinyl version, incl. a signed autograph card. You can pre-order the album now.
„We are so satisfied and proud of it! Even though the last 3 years were not easy for the band, this is definitely not just a “next” Signum Regis” album, we are a band, we are always aiming to create something special – for us, and for fans“, comments guitarist Filip Koluš, who also mixed and produced the album, having a clear vision, „that it will be completely different compared to our common production and we wanted to keep it in the way we saw it as a musicians. We jumped out of our basic style, we were experimenting with new things in the studio a lot, we teleported King Rex from the ground to space – which sounds crazy, but that’s how it was supposed to be!“ The final mastering was given into the hands of Miro Kiiski (BEAST IN BLACK, HYPOCRISY a.o.), which was another perfect match.
„Beyond Spacetime“ is full of diversity. You will find uptempo power metal hymns, epic and progressive tracks, true metal fist-raisers, neo-classic inspired stuff and beautiful ballads. All the different voices fit perfectly, although this wasn’t supposed in the first place.“Originally, the entire album was supposed to be sung by Jota Fortinho, but unfortunately, in 2024 he decided to leave the band. The album was already 80% instrumentally written and recorded, ready for the vocal recordings. Afterwards, we really wrote a list of singers who, from our perspective, would be ideal for the sound and meaning of each song. We didn’t set any barricades – we also wrote down the names of top singers, in many cases our all-time favourites, on who we basically grew up. We were shocked and extremely happy that we finally approached practically all the singers and none of them turned down the offer! So in the end, we have basically the album of our dreams on the table, as collaborating with singers like Ralf Scheepers, Tim Ripper Owens, Johnny Gioeli or Matt Smith is a dream come true for us. They are all legends and big professionals“, says Filip Koluš, who is also happy that both Jota and Mayo can be heard on the album, even united in the track „Echoes Of Glory“. „Both are super-important for the band and we are like a family. Jota did an awesome performance in 2 songs, but unfortunately his personal situation is not allowing him to be a part of our band right now. Mayo is our brother, he was singing in SR during probably the most successful periods of the band until now. Nowadays, we are having live rehearsals together. We are sure that Mayo will be our lead singer for the upcoming gigs.“
SIGNUM REGIS was always connected to fantasy lyrics, legends and myths. On „Beyond Spacetime“ they even go further, right into space, but also back in time. „Just as much as with the music, on the new album we pushed the envelope with the lyrics as well. On „Beyond Spacetime“ they reflect both personal and universal experiences. You will certainly find some of the most daring, introspective lyrics ever to appear on our albums. We did not hold back! At the same time, some tracks open gates to the most intense challenges ever relevant to any human being throughout history. While the title track has indeed placed us on a star map of the universe, with another we ended up falling deep down to the bottom of the rabbit hole. Buckle up, folks“, says Tommy König, who wrote parts of the lyrics.
The songs of the album sound fresh, but few of them have a long history behind, just like „Midnight Train“, „Back To Zero“, „Throne Of Gold“ a.o. They somehow went beyond spacetime. „The diversity of the new album is also reflected in the timeline within which the individual songs were originally composed. You can find some great songs there that were recorded many years ago by the band that preceded Signum Regis, but have now been rearranged to fit our style. The first one, ‘Throne of Gold’, is a pounding anthem featuring a guitar solo by Victor Smolski and vocals by our great friend Matt Smith, well known from Theocracy. The second one, a real banger called ‘Back to Zero’, was written byour original drummer and a great friend of ours, Luděk Struhař. Then there is a whole collection of songs Filip composed in his teenage years. ‘Midnight Train’, originally an instrumental piece played on classical guitar, has now been rearranged with vocals and nostalgically tells the story of an old man waiting for his last train. ‘Into the Rabbit Hole’ and ‘A Dream or Two’ are also part of this group. On top of that, there is a whole bunch of brand-new tracks reflecting the period that more or less followed the Undivided release: ‘Time to Pay’, ‘Waterfall’, ‘Morning Dawn’ and ‘Beyond Spacetime’. Finally, there are two tracks that stand out because of the stories behind them. ‘Tell Our Fears Goodbye’ is an acoustic piece composed by Filip and dedicated to his wife, while ‘Echoes of Glory’ features a duet sung by both Mayo and Jota.”
„Beyond Spacetime“ is rounded up by an excellent artwork from Uwe Jarling, known for his work for acts like HEAVEN’S GATE,GRAVE DIGGER or recently FRONT ROW WARRIORS. „Uwe will always be special to us! With „Undivided“ he created an iconic image, bringing to life the character representing our band, King Rex. Compared to „Undivided“, where we relied heavily on his advice, „Beyond Spacetime“ resulted from intensive communication in which every detail was discussed and agreed upon. Fortunately, Uwe has been extremely supportive throughout the process, and the result is nothing short of awesome! We are definitely a band that considers the artwork a very important part of our artistic vision. Over the years this approach has only grown stronger, so having a real cover artist has become an absolute must for us“, comments Tommy.
SIGNUM REGIS will celebrate their 20th anniversary next year. „Beyond Spacetime“ already feels like kind of a best-of journey through their past, present and future. „We grew up on the values of traditional melodic metal – this focus will most probably never change“, says Filip Koluš and explains: „At the same time, we are also a group of great friends, who have a common goal – to make the best quality metal music together. We never set any barriers, as we believe that music should be an art and freedom first and foremost. Proof of this is our new album, which sounds mostly very different from our previous releases. Despite this, we are absolutely proud of it and the result was fully under control from the beginning to the end of the process, which took around 3 years. What to expect in the future? We do not know exactly, but we will stick to our values for sure.“

Italian melodic metal veterans FELINE MELINDA are proud to present “More Than Ever”, the first official single from their forthcoming EP Duets II which will be released on October 2, 2026, via Diotima Records.
“More Than Ever” not only marks the beginning of a new musical chapter for the band, but also carries a deeply intimate and personal meaning. The lyrics were originally conceived and written by frontman Rob Irbiz to celebrate the birth of Chris Platzer’s daughter. Platzer is the drummer of FELINE MELINDA.
From this deeply personal inspiration emerged a universal message about unconditional care, protection, emotional closeness and the promise to remain by someone’s side throughout life’s sometimes difficult and winding paths.
The band comments:
“‘More Than Ever’ is a very important song for us. Its story has deeply personal roots, as Rob originally wrote the lyrics to celebrate the birth of Chris’ daughter. However, that intimate moment gave rise to a message in which anyone can recognise themselves, because it speaks about the desire to protect someone, remain by their side and accompany them through every challenge. In the lyric video, the words take on a new perspective and tell a moving love story. The vocal chemistry between Rob and Doris is given an intense and poetic visual counterpart, celebrating, more than ever, the unbreakable bonds that connect human beings.”
The voices of Rob Irbiz and Doris Albenberger come together in an intense and evocative duet. Their distinctive vocal chemistry is mirrored by the lyric video’s emotional imagery, transforming “More Than Ever” into a musical and visual journey dedicated to the enduring strength of human connection.
Following the highly acclaimed Duets EP, released in 2019, Duets II once again features singer Doris Albenberger, whose distinctive pop-rock voice brings a new emotional intensity to some of the most beloved songs in the band’s catalogue.
As they celebrate their 40th anniversary, FELINE MELINDA honour their history with a project that combines tradition and renewal. Accompanied by a refreshed visual identity and an updated band logo, Duets II reaffirms the group’s enduring passion for memorable melodies and emotionally driven songwriting while continuing their musical evolution.
The EP features five carefully selected songs spanning different eras of FELINE MELINDA’s career. Two tracks have been completely re-recorded as brand-new duet versions, while three songs originate from the Seven era.
Powerful melodies, memorable choruses and expressive guitar work remain at the heart of the band’s sound. Guitarists Headmatt and Francesco Pinter enrich the songs with tasteful solos and melodic textures, while the vocal interplay between Rob Irbiz and Doris Albenberger gives each composition renewed warmth, depth and emotional nuance.
Duets II will be released digitally worldwide through Diotima Records on all major streaming and download platforms. A special limited-edition CD digipak will also be available directly from the band.
The EP was recorded, edited, mixed and mastered by Marco Ober and Sascha Paeth, while its atmospheric cover artwork was created by Rhett Podersoo.

Formed in South Tyrol in 1986, FELINE MELINDA are one of Italy’s longest-running melodic metal acts. Throughout their 40-year career, the band have developed a distinctive musical identity by combining melodic hard rock, power metal, AOR and emotional ballads.
With Duets II, FELINE MELINDA celebrate their musical legacy while continuing to look towards the future, proving that passion, creativity and artistic chemistry remain the driving forces behind their music.
UK progressive metal force Exist Immortal return with their long-awaited new EP Afterglow, out today, 11th September, via Seek & Strike. Marking the release with a fresh glimpse into the record’s darker emotional territory, the band have also unveiled new single ‘Something, Somewhere’, a raw, restless track that sits firmly in the uncomfortable space between regret, uncertainty and the things we’re not quite ready to confront.
“The rawest, most restless track of the EP. It sits in the uncertainty, the regret, the second-guessing, the things you can’t quite bring yourself to face and doesn’t rush to fix any of it. The honest opening of our story,” the band explain.
For Exist Immortal, Afterglow is the beginning of a new chapter for the band. Shaped by upheaval and personal struggles, it’s a record that reflects where they are now, with a renewed sense of purpose moving forward.
For over a decade, Exist Immortal have established themselves as one of the UK’s most distinctive progressive metal acts, combining crushing metalcore, intricate technicality, soaring melodies and contemporary pop sensibilities into a sound that refuses to sit neatly within genre boundaries. Hailing from the South East of England, the band have continually evolved while retaining a focus on music that hits with equal measures of emotional weight and sheer physical force.
That evolution reaches a new level on Afterglow. Written during a period of profound upheaval that saw the band navigate a line-up change, personal and health challenges and a period in which their future was genuinely uncertain, the five track EP became an exercise in creative renewal and ultimately, a reaffirmation of why the band exists in the first place.
“Afterglow is the sound of us finding out what this band actually is,” the band explain. “We wrote and rebuilt it through a period of real upheaval, a lineup change, personal challenges, health challenges and a stretch that tested whether we’d keep going at all. Somehow it came out the most assured, most deliberate thing we’ve ever made.”
The resulting record is Exist Immortal at their most focused. Stripping away anything unnecessary, Afterglow is colder, heavier and more deliberate than its predecessors, with sharper songwriting, greater dynamic impact and a newfound confidence running through every moment. Technical precision sits alongside huge melodic hooks and expansive atmosphere, while every riff and arrangement serves a clear purpose.
Away from the studio, Exist Immortal have built a formidable international reputation through relentless touring across Europe, Asia and the Americas. Their explosive live show has seen them perform at Download Festival, Bloodstock Open Air, MetalDays, Euroblast, Maximum Rock Festival and Complexity Fest, while sharing stages with progressive heavyweights including SikTh, Textures, LANDMVRKS and Cynic. In 2022 they headlined the main stage at UK Tech-Fest, before following it up with sold-out headline tours of Mexico and Japan, further cementing their status as one of the UK’s most exciting modern progressive metal exports.
Now, with a renewed creative vision driving them forward, Exist Immortal are entering their most compelling era yet. Afterglow doesn’t simply mark the band’s next chapter, it redefines who they are, with a sound that leans cold, precise and deliberate, built on taut songwriting, dynamic arrangements and an uncompromising approach that balances technical mastery with memorable hooks and immense weight.
