Hungarian Thrashers ARCHAIC have dropped their super-heavy Christmas gift in the form of a fierce cover of the ’92 Iron Maiden classic track ’Be Quick or Be Dead’.

“We’ve been a fan of Iron Maiden since our teenage years and this is our way to pay homage to one of the greatest bands in the history of metal. Because of the difference in genres, it was a good challenge to reshape the song in a way that fits our musical identity but still remains faithful to the original.

We picked ’Be Quick or Be Dead’ for many reasons. One is that it’s not an obvious choice like the big hits, which have been covered a lot of times by various bands. We also thought that the original track itself has such a raw and thrashy vibe that makes it fit for an aggressive, heavier cover. And there’s also a personal perspective, three out of four band members were born in 80-s and got into metal in the beginning of the 90-s, which meant that ’Fear of the Dark’ was a defining record for us, it was the basically the first one that introduced us to Maiden’s music and had a huge impact on us as kids.

As the lyrics and the meaning of the song are still valid to this day, we decided to make a lyric video. It was edited by our former singer, Tamás Jósa, who is also a huge Maiden fanatic and it includes mostly footage from our live performances but there are also some nods and winks to the original music video of the song, that was played several times on MTV back in 1992.”

ARCHAIC is currently writing and producing their 4th full-length album, which is the follow-up of ’The Endgame Protocol’ released back in 2022. Besides working on new music they will also go on a 10-day-long European tour with Gorgoroth, Aeternus and Death Rattle in late March 2025.

„We’re very excited about this tour and it’s a huge honour to be part of this line-up, the band is extremely grateful for this opportunity. We’ve played in a few parts of Europe and been on shorter tours before, but none of them were longer than 5-6 days, so this will be our first trip with 10 shows in a row which makes it even more exciting for us. We’re really looking forward to sharing the stage with Gorgoroth, Aeternus and Death Rattle and playing for hundreds of new faces, it will be a crushing compilation of black and thrash metal in one infernal package. We can’t wait to rip everyone’s face off with some intensive and spicy thrash metal music from Hungary!”
