CARCOLH Announce New Album “Twilight of the Mortals” + Release Powerful Single ‘For Every Second…’

French doom metal outfit CARCOLH has announced their upcoming third album, “Twilight of the Mortals”, set for release on February 14th via Sleeping Church Records. To fuel the anticipation, the band has shared the intense first single, “For Every Second…”.

Guitarist Quentin Aberne about the track: “‘For Every Second…’ is the opening track of our new album “Twilight Of The Mortals”. The heavy and creeping beat of torment accompanies the song of a tortured soul in search of ultimate deliverance. It’s a song that makes the transition between our previous album “The Life And Works of Death” and “Twilight Of The Mortals”, because we find the same riffing, but also a more important melodic work of the guitars. We hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we did recording it.”

Hailing from Bordeaux/Herbignac, France, CARCOLH emerged in 2016, birthed from the ashes of Marble Chariot. With a lineup forged from experienced musicians, including members of renowned bands like Oyabun, Hexenjäger, and Dead Toys, CARCOLH has solidified their place in the doom metal scene.

Their debut album, “Rising Sons of Saturn”, released in 2018, marked a powerful introduction, showcasing their ability to craft dense, atmospheric soundscapes. The band’s subsequent release, “The Life and Works of Death” (2021), delved deeper into the abyss, offering a heavier and more experimental approach to doom metal.

Now, CARCOLH presents their third full-length album, “Twilight of the Mortals”. This latest offering promises to be their most ambitious and captivating work yet, pushing the boundaries of the genre with crushing riffs, haunting melodies, and a raw, visceral energy.

Tracklist:

  1. For Every Second…
  2. Ashes Are Falling Down
  3. The Battle Is Lost

  6. Empty Thrones

WHITECHAPEL released their standalone single, “A Visceral Retch,” in September. Relentlessly slamming, ominous, and punishing, the track delivers a dark, twisted theme about gluttonous overlords who test the lengths to which humans will go to survive and join their cult. Revolver noted, “…the speed-driven piece is full of detuned death riffs and mega-fast drum snaring. Vocalist Phil Bozeman indeed does some gut-rumbled retching throughout the tune, no doubt brought on by some truly nauseating in-song coprophagia… ” Idioteq concurred, lauding a track that, “reinforces their standing as stalwarts of the deathcore genre,” while Metal Injection gushed, “WHITECHAPEL is back with a new song called ‘A Visceral Retch’ and I am currently writing this from the grave, because this song killed me. If you’re a fan of old-school WHITECHAPEL… you’re gonna love this – it’s heavy as shit, it’s unrelenting, and it will destroy you.”

OTHISMOS Stream “Sottrazione” LP, Out Today

Posted by tarjavirmakari on December 16, 2024

Bringing together a wealth of experience from diverse musical backgrounds, Italian blackened crust force OTHISMOS are thrilled to announce the release of their new album “Sottrazione”, available today, on December 16th, 2024.

Invisible Oranges is hosting the exclusive premiere of the record. Stream “Sottrazione” at THIS LOCATION.

“Sottrazione” marks the band’s third album since their inception in 2009, following “L’odio necessario” (2015) and “Separazione” (2018), and it’s their first album entirely in English.

“Sottrazione” comprises eight tracks that defy genre boundaries: OTHISMOS continue on their unique musical journey, bridging crust, black metal, post-hardcore, sludge, and other metallic elements. Over the years, their sound has drawn comparisons to an array of bands, from Nasum to High on Fire, capturing the vast scope of their influences.

The new album was recorded with longtime friend and collaborator Emanuele “Bio” Ferrari, and then mixed and mastered by Danilo Battocchio (Ponte del Diavolo, Hierophant, Tons, and more).

The band shares:

“After a period of inactivity and a new drummer joining our lineup, we’re starting fresh with new ideas. We’ve dialed back some of the black metal sound that shaped our previous album and leaned back towards our punk and crust roots, yet allowing more space for melody. We worked by subtraction, embracing a ‘less is more’ approach. ‘Sottrazione’ is furious, pitch-dark, and extreme, because that’s who we are. We don’t fit into any one category, and we’ve never tried to. What we hope for is that ‘Sottrazione’ leaves listeners with the raw, visceral impact that we aim to convey.
Nothing gets better, everything rots and fades, we are all insignificant and destined to be forgotten. All that’s left is to face reality and exorcise the futility of our days.”

Tracklist:

01. I Will Fade Away
02. Cops Are not People
03.Burn the Flags
04.The Mirror
05. Pars Destruens
06. They Declared War on Us
07. The Shape of Pain to Come
08. Death Forever

Line-up:

Filippo Masina – bass, vocals and lyrics
Luca Migliorucci – guitars
Matteo Maroni – drums

Recorded by Emanuele “Bio” Ferrari
Mixed & mastered by Danilo Battocchio
Artwork by Giulia Ajmone-Cat
Cover design by Stefano Paolessi

Originally formed in 1974, the pioneering Newcastle UK Heavy Metal legends RAVEN have been celebrating their 50th Anniversary throughout the year and to continue with their celebrations, the band offer an electric gift to their fans on February 14th with the release of their Can’t Take Away The Fire EP.

“With the incredible reaction to our last album ‘All Hell’s Breaking Loose’ it spurred us to slave even harder in the songwriting salt mines” comments co-founding lead vocalist and bassist John Gallagher. “As an indication of where we are headed, we’ve put together for you an EP of five brand new songs (plus bonus tracks) that’s simply……. BLISTERING!!! We hope you enjoy our contribution to global warming!”

Can’t Take Away The Fire features five ferocious, no-nonsense, and full-force new songs and delivers the sort of lean, mean RAVEN-brand metal that continues to turn up the volume and land the crispest of punches. Founding Geordie brothers John Gallagher (lead vocals, bass) and Mark Gallagher (guitar, backing vocals) -aligned with the jet-propulsive power of Mike Heller (drums), throw down their speed demon intent on ‘Black And Blue’, roar with fresh old school perspective on ‘Power Hungry’, hit the heavy metal mid-pace highway with ‘Can’t Take Away The Fire’ and accelerate back into hyperdrive for ‘Gimme A Lie’. The new suite of songs wraps up with a semi-balladic, Sabbath-tinged epic, ‘The Wreckage’. Adding to the festivities are three live bonus tracks from across the band’s career – ‘The Power’, ‘Architect Of Fear’, and ‘Don’t Need Your Money’.

Featuring artwork by All Things Rotten, Can’t Take Away The Fire is a very limited-edition release, with only 1000 CDs available, all of which will be numbered and signed by the band as well as coming with an exclusive 50th anniversary RAVEN patch. The limited-edition CD will also only be available from the official RAVEN store, and once they’re gone, they’re gone! Following the release of their debut album “Summertime Sorrow” in March 2024, the German Atmospheric Post-Black metallers A SOMBER FUNERAL are back with a standalone-single ‘Celestial Child’, set to be released on December 27th!

The new song deviates thematically from the concept of the upcoming second album, which is currently being recorded! “Celestial Child” shows the creative features of the band in a strikingly independent way!

A SOMBER FUNERAL:
“This song is dedicated to a mother (name unknown) who lost her child two weeks before birth. I met her during my vacation in the summer of 2013.”
