Hard rock trio TROUBLE COUNTY presents the single & video “Awake,” taken from their upcoming debut album, Blacken the Sky, which will be released on December 13, 2024, via Epictronic.
“Awake” delves into a profound love, obsession, and internal conflict narrative. The song weaves a captivating tale of the intense highs and devastating lows of being consumed by someone else while grappling with the inner demons that threaten to tear it all apart. With a sound that combines classic rock’s grit and modern structures’ innovation, “Awake” takes listeners on an emotional journey through the darker side of love.
Since 2015, Trouble County has been lighting up stages across the UK with their signature blend of vintage modern rock. Known for their high-energy performances and a sound that echoes the legends of classic rock while carving their own unique path, this Portsmouth trio continues to captivate audiences with introspective lyrics and massive, groove-driven melodies.
Their distinctive style has earned them praise such as: “Catchy, intelligent rock played to perfection” – Jim Houlbrook Photography “Bluesy stoner rock at its finest” – Sonic Breakdown Records
With the release of Blacken the Sky on the horizon, Trouble County is set to “Bring The Thunder” once again. Fans can expect more unforgettable live performances and a sound that leaves a lasting impression.
Power metal fans, get ready! Southern Germany’s powerhouse, BRAINSTORM, are gearing up to unleash their new album “Plague Of Rats,” and it’s set to blow your minds and rock your ears! Created alongside their trusted team — Sebastian “Seeb” Levermann for mixing and mastering at Greenman Studios, Gyula Havancsák on artwork, and Alex Kühr on photography — this album delivers ten epic new tracks that will transport fans to the captivating world of India and beyond.
Singer Andy B. Franck explains: “The history of India dates back to 5,000 years and the Indus civilization is one of the oldest in the entire world. With ‘Maharaja Palace’ (‘Ambiguity’) but especially our breakthrough with the album “Soul Temptation,” it was important to me to bring my penchant for this history and culture into our music. I think it just fits well with the sound of BRAINSTORM. I love the sound and harmonies in the Indian music and I think it was about time to delve into history again and to bring this very special shine into our music.”
He adds: “”Plague Of Rats” is more ‘in your face’ and very direct. I think it fits perfectly into our times and reflects the mood of the band: it’s very aggressive and energetic – attack!”

Though BRAINSTORM have a long history, much like the ancient Indus civilization, they’re still in tune with the times. Their latest opus combines signature elements with a fresh, modern edge that’s clearly left its mark on the album. Plus, the band’s ‘attack mode’ approach shines through with a line-up of powerful tracks – no slow songs, no ballads, just pure, high-energy metal.
“Of course, we have developed over the years. But I think we have something that many bands have lost in these days: independence. You can f***ing recognize a BRAINSTORM song after just a few seconds. That’s perfect and somehow makes us special,” the frontman comments.
Alongside collaborating with familiar partners, BRAINSTORM have ventured into new territory: their booking is now managed by Decibel-Touring, and they’ve recently signed a record deal with Reigning Phoenix Music (RPM). This exciting partnership will bring their new album, “Plague Of Rats,” to fans on February 28, 2025.
BRAINSTORM state: “It’s more than just a band for us: the personal connections and chemistry between us make this group something special that you rarely find these days. Putting our music in the hands of a new label is one of the most important and trusting decisions of all. From the first meeting and conversation, we had a sensational, confident foundation with RPM that left no doubt about who we wanted to work with in the future. Landing on a Southern German label as a Southern German band is the best thing that could have happened to us in our career. We’re really looking forward to many successful years! We’re incredibly proud to now belong to the RPM family, and thank them for their trust. “Plague Of Rats” is the perfect beginning of this special connection. We speak one language and the same dialect. In this sense: ‘Wir freiat ons saumäußig uff a goila Zeit! Kracha lassa!’ We couldn’t be any prouder.”
RPM managing director Jochen Richert grins: “If Porsche would have decided to collaborate with Daimler instead of Volkswagen, they could have caused an enormous load of Swabian power which could only be compared to the energy of this new union of BRAINSTORM and us. Their new album unleashes so much horse power and catapults the quintet straight into the Formula One of metal. During the accompanying release tour, BRAINSTORM will be spraying even more fuel and lift the roofs of each and every venue.”

“After so many years, it’s difficult to record an album and not find yourself repeating yourself. “Plague Of Rats” is perhaps the album where we managed to learn from past mistakes and combine all our strengths. We’re all very proud of this album and can’t wait to play these songs live,” comment BRAINSTORM.
ARION are equally excited: “We are happy to join forces with BRAINSTORM and to return to central European venues since it’s been a little while. We expect to ignite a great party for the most metal of people!”

About BRAINSTORM
BRAINSTORM look back on an unparalleled career: since their 1997 debut “Hungry,” the band have continued to develop and to consolidate their position in the international metal scene with albums like “Metus Mortis” [2001], “Soul Temptation” [2003], “Liquid Monster” [2005], and most recently “Midnight Ghost” [2018] and “Wall Of Skulls” [2021]. They have toured worldwide and achieved impressive chart positions in recent years, but instead of resting on their laurels, they are more determined than ever to set new milestones.
BRAINSTORM are: Andy B. Franck | vocals Torsten Ihlenfeld | guitars Milan Loncaric | guitars Jim Ramses | bass Dieter Bernert | drums
With a sound that defies generic labels and a vision that stretches the limits of creativity, Múr are the latest descendants from Iceland’s volcanic underground. The emerging quintet are forging a new era of dark, atmospheric and boundary shattering metal. With progressive sensibilities that harken to the Devin Townsend Project and mid-era Opeth, a talent to cohesively juxtapose atmospheric textures with polished technicality a la Meshuggah and Gojira, and a focus on jazz study among the fresh-faced instrumentalists, Múr is already proving itself to be a reckoning force.
Múr is now unleashing the latest offering from its upcoming self-titled debut, which is due on November 22, 2024 via Century Media Records! The new single, “Holskefla,” can be found along with a music video at THIS LOCATION.
The band comments: “‘Holskefla’ is one of the oldest songs written for our debut album and our earliest exploration into writing in odd time signatures. The title means ‘deluge’ or ‘barrage’ and the song embodies the album’s overall theme of breaking the shackles of inner turmoil and finding strength in letting go.”
Múr’s trajectory really gained momentum a year after their formation when their talent was recognized in the spring of 2022 as they conquered the Icelandic Wacken Metal Battle, propelling them to an impressive fourth place in the international finale at Wacken Open Air in Germany.
The band recently created a buzz following the release of their folk horror infused video for “Heimsslit,” which can be found HERE.
“’Heimsslit’ is an Icelandic word for the apocalypse, but the literal translation is ‘world’s tearing,’ inspiring a vision of the world coming apart at the seams,” says the band. “The lyrical themes have more to do with an acceptance of something vital falling apart within one’s own mind rather than being about the physical world ending. The song is accompanied by our first music video, a massive cross-discipline collaboration between local artists.”
The album is due digitally on November 22, 2024 while CD and vinyl will be available January 10, 2025. Pre-orders are now live HERE.
In November and December, Múr will support Finnish prog-metal band Wheel (InsideOut Music) on selected shows of their upcoming European tour:
November 23, 24 (UK) London – The Underworld November 24, 24 (UK) Bristol – Thekla November 26, 24 (BE) Antwerp – Kavka November 27, 24 (DE) Cologne – Luxor November 28, 24 (DE) Aschaffenburg – Colos-Saal November 30, 24 (FR) Paris – Backstage December 2, 24 (CH) Zurich – Komplex December 3, 24 (IT) Milan – Legend Club December 4, 24 (DE) Munich – Backstage Halle December 5, 24 (HU) Budapest – Analog Music Hall December 6, 24 (AT) Vienna – Chelsea December 8, 24 (PL) Warsaw – Hydrozagadka December 10, 24 (DE) Berlin – Lido
With a sound that defies generic labels and a vision that stretches the limits of creativity, Múr are the latest descendents from Iceland’s volcanic underground. The emerging quintet are forging a new era of dark, atmospheric and boundary shattering metal. With progressive sensibilities that harken to the Devin Townsend Project and mid-era Opeth, a talent to cohesively juxtapose atmospheric textures with polished technicality a la Neurosis and Gojira, and a focus on jazz study among the fresh-faced instrumentalists, Múr is already proving itself to be a reckoning force.
Exhibiting a musicianship that collectively exhibits impressive virtuosity, it’s unsurprising that frontman Kári Haraldsson (Vocals, Keytar, Synthesizers), guitarists Hilmir Árnason and Jón Ísak Ragnarsson, bassist Ívar Klausen and drummer Árni Jökull Guðbjartsson each already have established impressive resumes as their interest in music all started in their early childhoods. Haraldsson is an unprecedented force, not only transforming the typically bright and cheerful keytar into an ominous weapon of sound, he has been a musician since the early age of five when he started taking drumming lessons with his grandfather. His interest in music continued to flourish in his teens, where he studied classical and jazz piano and ultimately started to try his hand in composition. His efforts paid off as he already has written scores for two projects – the Icelandic feature film ‘Harmur’ (‘Come to Harm,’ 2021) and the Icelandic TV series, ‘Gestir’ (2024). His cinematic sensibilities are now evident in the gradoise soundscapes that he creates for Múr.
Haraldsson then released his first solo project, Bláþræðir, in 2020, which was part of a larger collaborative project in which he and director Hrafnkell Tumi Georgsson made an animated short film with an original score. This partnership soon came to produce Múr’s haunting first music video for the song “Heimsslit.” Ever since Múr came into existence, it has been his main outlet for songwriting and is his purest creative expression.
Guitarists Hilmir Árnason and Jón Ísak Ragnarsson both had a similar trajectory, each learning classical guitar at a young age, but eventually learning the electric guitar as teens under the tutelage of Skálmöld’s Þráinn Árni Baldvinsson, who would eventually also play a role in Múr’s inception. Eventually, they each studied jazz, pursuing a formal education of the subject at Icelandic music schools Tónlistarskóli FÍH and Menntaskóli í Tónlist, respectively.
Also starting his musical training at age six, Árni Jökull Guðbjartsson didn’t start to hone his craft on drums until he was 13 and has performed in other local Icelandic bands (Krownest, Blóðmör) before joining Múr. His experience in punk and hardcore bands have been integral to his stage presence, lending to his immense energy and live ferocity.
Ívar Klausen also discovered his craft later in life, starting as a guitarist before conquering the bass. As a guitarist, he was actively involved in the local pop scene, contributing his talents both in studio and on stage for various artists. He also studied jazz guitar at the Icelandic music school Menntaskóli í Tónlist and has released several other records with his band Dópamín, where he sings and shreds the guitar as the frontman.
The commonalities between the musicians of Múr made the formation of this project almost seem inevitable, with ties between the members going back to their school years. “It started when Hilmir and I met in our first year of high school and started jamming in my mom’s garage, playing covers of our favorite rock and metal songs,” explains Haraldsson of the band’s inception. “Hilmir and Jón Ísak had the same guitar teacher at the time, Þráinn Árni Baldvinsson, but one day he introduced them to each other and strongly encouraged them to join forces with me in that very same garage the next weekend and start playing together. We became good friends over the next couple of years, meeting most weekends to hang out and play all sorts of different covers and some very early original material as well, but back then I was the drummer, so we were just a guitars and drums three-piece.
“A few years later we met the rest of the guys in the Icelandic music school, Menntaskóli í Tónlist, and things started to shape into what they are today when I stepped away from the drums to give full focus to the vocals, synthesizers (keytar) and songwriting. Singing was a completely new thing for me, only done originally so that the earliest songs I wrote for what would become Múr could include some vocal melodies. Ívar joined us on bass after I showed him some early Múr demos at school, but once this started looking like a full band and we had some of our first songs, we really needed a drummer.
“Sigurður Jakobsson (of Úlfúð, ex-Mannveira) joined us right around the start of the pandemic and we spent those isolated months really honing our inner dynamic as a band and were really tight by the time we could finally play our first gig when things finally started opening up again. Sigurður played the drums on the recordings for our debut album and stayed with us until we placed fourth at Wacken Metal Battle in Germany, but then had to part ways with us for personal and practical reasons, all on good terms. Árni, a good friend whom we had met through music school and the local scene, joined us right after, solidifying the lineup into what it is today.”
Múr’s trajectory really gained momentum a year after their formation when their talent was recognized in the spring of 2022 as they conquered the Icelandic Wacken Metal Battle, propelling them to an impressive fourth place in the international finale at Wacken Open Air in Germany.
Describing their music as “a wall of sound and emotion,” Múr is quick to point out that their sound is up for interpretation. “I’m not sure whether it’s our place to fully define it,” cautions Haraldsson “as people seem to take vastly different things away from experiencing it, depending on who they are and what they like in music.” While their complex passages will undoubtedly elicit different perspectives as it borrows from many genres and elements, the emotional component to their music is more direct, with lyrics that center on the human experience. “Most of the lyrics revolve around facing yourself, breaking the shackles of inner turmoil and finding strength in letting go,” he adds.
As for what comprises their multifaceted sound, Haraldsson explains, “We draw inspiration from a lot of different sources, both when it comes to the songwriting and when designing the more overarching soundscapes and textures. Amongst other things we are inspired by film scores, forces of nature, and various different forms of electronic music.”
Making their debut with their self-titled full-length, which will be released via Century Media Records on November 22, 2024, the newcomers already have a buzz around them as they have been winning over crowds on the festival circuit since conquering Soulcrusher Festival in 2023. Through their unique blend of atmospheric textures, evocative songwriting, and raw emotional intensity, Múr has garnered critical acclaim both within their homeland and beyond, solidifying their position as one of the country’s most promising and exciting musical exports.
Italian Symphonic Death Metal pioneers Genus Ordinis Dei have just announced a new single entitled Eternal Cycle which features Xandria vocalist Ambre Vourvahis on vocals. The single will be released via all platforms worldwide on November 15, 2024 via Eclipse Records. Just a few days after, the band is heading out on tour supporting Xandria and Sirenia. The eleven-date European Tour begins on November 19 at Hydrozagdka in Warsaw (Poland) and wraps up on November 30 at De Pul in Uden (Netherlands). See below for dates and more info.
Eternal Cycle is the second release from the band since their full-length album & metal music video series The Beginning which was released on December 8, 2023 via Eclipse Records. The track was produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered by Tommaso Monticelli at Sonitus Studio in Crema, Italy. “Eternal Cycle,” is a powerful symphonic metal track that blends mythology and emotional depth. Featuring the captivating vocals of Ambre Vourvahis from Xandria, the song reimagines the myth of Persephone and Hades, focusing on the birth of the seasons and the eternal cycle of life, death, and rebirth. Musically, the song is a whirlwind of orchestral grandeur, staccato rhythms, and intense riffs. Vourvahis’s ethereal vocals provide a stunning contrast to the growls of the band’s lead vocalist, embodying the duality of light and shadow, life and death. The interplay between the symphonic elements and the metal foundation captures the tension and passion at the heart of the myth. Pre-Save now at https://ffm.to/gnsetr
“When I first heard Ambre from Xandria, I immediately knew we would do great things together” says guitarist & vocalist Nick Key. “Collaborating with Ambre was an incredible experience; the tones of her voice, her attention to detail, and her great openness and professionalism impressed and inspired me. The intertwining of our voices is something magical, and I’m sure the audience will feel and experience this wonderful journey just as we did… with immense emotion.” Vocalist Ambre Vourvahis continues, “I’ve been listening to Genus Ordinis Dei for many years. When I first heard their song Salem which featured Cristina Scabbia, I thought how great it would be to collaborate with them one day. It seems I may have manifested that! I feel extremely honored that they asked me to contribute to such an amazing song, one that truly aligns with my musical tastes. Nick’s harsh vocals are incredible, and the contrast between our voices fits perfectly with the story of the song.”

Time To Kill Records is proud to announce the reissue of “Murderworks”, the acclaimed third full-length album by Finnish grindcore legends ROTTEN SOUND. Originally released in 2002, “Murderworks” stands as a pivotal chapter in the band’s career and in the grindcore genre itself, blending relentless speed, brutal precision and raw aggression that has influenced countless artists and earned the band a devoted following worldwide. Fans can now experience this essential record in a fresh light with new digipak CD, double gatefold LP (black, red, marble), MC, and digital editions, all available starting January 3rd, 2025.
A new lyric video for “Doom” is now available HERE.
“Murderworks” was celebrated upon its initial release for its ferocity and uncompromising sound, setting a high standard in extreme music. The album showcases ROTTEN SOUND at their most intense, with an unyielding energy that captures the essence of grindcore’s chaotic power with hints of razor-sharp death metal. This reissue offers both longtime fans and newcomers the chance to appreciate the album’s original fury, restored and ready to assault ears once again.
The band commented:
“‘Murderworks’ is the third full album of Rotten Sound and is also considered as the stepping stone for the band, which also got us finally touring internationally. We had been doing more crusty stuff at first on ‘Under Pressure’ and earlier releases. Then we added elements of death metal on ‘Drain’ and finally started blasting more than ever on ‘Murderworks’. ‘Murderworks’ was created mostly during 2001, when Keijo already lived in Tampere while others still were based in Vaasa. Keijo had moved already in 1997, but on 2001 he was rehearsing more than before with others, who were also spending a lot of time together at the rehearsal place. That extensive rehearsing made the release and entire band tighter than before, which probably has a lot to do with how the album ended up being”.
The BRIAN SETZER ORCHESTRA is a swing band formed in 1992 by Stray Cats frontman Brian Setzer. Their debut self titled album was released in 1994, and was followed up in 1996 with Guitar Slinger. In 1998, for their breakout album The Dirty Boogie, the group covered Louis Prima’s “Jump, Jive An’ Wail”, which originally appeared on Prima’s 1957 album The Wildest! and found themselves with a runaway hit! The album’s success led to a massive tour which ran from fall of 1998 through the summer of 1999, including a performance at the infamous Woodstock 1999. The Dirty Boogie’s success was capped off with a Grammy win for Brian’s version of “Sleepwalk” for Best Pop Instrumental in 1999. That would just be the first Grammy that Brian would bring home with the Orchestra.
With the success of the recent Guitar Slinger reissue from the Brian Setzer Orchestra we are now excited to announce for the first time on vinyl since 1998, The Dirty Boogie. Remastered on 180g vinyl in two amazing Limited-Edition Colors and in a special gatefold jacket. There are only 300 of the Multi-Color Splatter and 700 of the Seafoam Melt. The Dirty Boogie is the third release from the Brian Setzer Orchestra. As Setzer states about this time, “When the swing revival came, it put me on that wave and it was a great thing for me because it got the sound out there and all of a sudden, I turned around and oh my gosh, everything was just huge.” The live tour set featured several Stray Cats hits including “Rock This Town” which got a big band re-working for The Dirty Boogie, along with many other tracks from the new album which were made for the stage.
