The Entropic Queen is the new music video and single from Italian symphonic death metal masters, GENUS ORDINIS DEI. The single was just released worldwide a couple of days ago, and it is the latest since the release of their critically acclaimed full-length album and metal music video series Glare of Deliverance.
The Entropic Queen was produced by Tommy Monticelli at Sonitus Studio during the after-effects of the band’s infection with the Covid-19 virus. The song tells a story about the pandemic, but from the perspective of the virus which is represented as an entropic queen who (invaded by the continuous expansion of man) reacts and responds to the attack, with her army of spike-carrying soldiers. The whole song is a great allegory that narrates the attack on the cell by the virus as if it were the assault of a castle. The single features cover art by Tom Roberts.

“This is the final episode, the end of a journey that has kept us busy for almost 2 years! It has been an amazing experience; difficult and weird but extremely satisfying too. Not just because it’s a great piece of work, but also because I did it with my brothers: Nick, Steven, and Richard. We met a lot of great people in the process, and we want to say thank you to all of them from the deep of our hearts and souls, especially our crowd-funders who helped make it all possible” says guitarist Tommy. “Shooting in the darkness at nighttime was yet another new experience for us, but it all turned out great. Getting the shots of Eleanor and her captors in the dark as she danced with the huge flames were difficult, but it all worked out. We want to thank everyone at Wild Horses Ranch in Verdello for providing the comfort, space, and assistance to get all the shots we needed.” Vocalist Nick Key adds, “we wantto thank everyone who has been following Eleanor’s adventure, everybody that has supported our crazy project, and everybody who will do so in the future. Of course, this is not the end, because a new journey is about to begin…”
Glare of Deliverance was produced by Tommaso Monticelli (Jumpscare, Eternal Delyria, Geschlecht) at Sonitus Studio, and it is the band’s third full-length album. It was released on December 4, 2020 and has received countless rave reviews from all over the world. For just a sample of the highlights, see here.
Glare Of Deliverance is the band’s most ambitious achievement yet. The scope and vision of the project had grown monumentally huge in comparison to their initial plans for the album. Aside from recording & producing a ten-song concept album, the band had to pull together a full production team for the ten-episode video series which consisted of concept artist Tom Roberts (Ghost), costume designer Floriana Setti, animal trainers from Wild Horses Ranch, prop & mask constructor Alessandra Faienza, a cast of actors & actresses starring Emilia Scarpati Fanetti as Eleanor, visual effects supervisors, special effects wizards, stuntmen, catering services, and even a full orchestral choir, Il Circolo Delle Quinte conducted by Margherita Colombo!
Symphonic death metal pioneers GENUS ORDINIS DEI have released the ninth music video episode entitled “Exorcism” from their critically acclaimed & highly praised concept album entitled Glare Of Deliverance. The video was directed by Steve Saints. In this episode, The Cross tries to break the ritual by exorcising Eleanor however, just as all hope is lost she proves herself worthy to serve The Fallen… Watch the new “Exorcism” music video / Episode 9 from Glare Of Deliverance at this location or watch the first nine episodes RIGHT NOW via the official series playlist located here and stay tuned for the final episode which will be revealed on July 12!
“The ninth episode of this series reaches the climax of Eleanor’s adventure. After the abjuration fails and her bond with the occult is revealed, she is declared possessed by the Devil and The Inquisitor performs an exorcism on her. At this point Eleanor reaches the peak of her transformation and the situation changes dramatically” says vocalist & guitarist Nick Key. “This episode shows the meaning of Eleanor’s journey. All the events of the prior episodes brought her here, face to face with the Inquisitor. She now has the chance and the will to commit the most extreme action, that of becoming worthy to serve The Fallen and fulfill the ritual.” Guitarist Tommy adds “Both Nick and Emilia performed brilliantly, especially at the beginning of the episode when they dance on a walzer. The dance is a metaphor for the Inquisitor that overwhelms an exhausted Eleanor, playing with her before releasing his power on her, like a feline playing with its prey before killing it. This is the most dense episode of the series and the turns of events will leave you speechless, it’s a promise.”

“This episode is kind of like the calm before the storm. Eleanor is brought before the Bishop to confess her crimes and repent, but the encounter from her dream the night before pays off. She is changed now, and ready to rise against her captors,” says vocalist & guitarist Nick Key. “We worked with Alessandra and Floriana on make-up that could represent this change. After the dream Eleanor keeps her new clothes, as if the dream was true. It is as if the encounter was real and in fact she is different. Eleanor has evolved and can see the big picture now, so she refuses to repent and threatens the Bishop. She challenges The Cross and is now a servant of The Fallen. Once again, we loved the performance of Emilia in this delicate passage, she is an amazing actress.”

“In this episode, a new mysterious character named The Fallen is revealed” says vocalist & guitarist Nick Key. “He takes the form as a spirit of the forest, like an Ent, or the Celtic Cernunnos. In our lore he is Lucifer, the fallen angel, or one of his manifestations. He appears in Eleanor’s dream and guides her through the forest, passing through the places where it all began. He returns the Heart of Stone to her, baptizes her, and transforms her into one of his servants. I played this character The Fallen, and I loved it. There are a couple of scenes where I am basically naked in the cold mountain water and it was COLD! But the final scene of the baptism is my favorite of the whole series, it literally took my breath away. Emilia (played the role of Eleanor) had to be submerged completely in this ice-cold mountain creek, but she was fearless and the scene came out amazing!”

Symphonic death metal juggernaut GENUS ORDINIS DEI have just released the sixth music video entitled “Judgement” from their critically acclaimed & highly praised concept album entitled Glare Of Deliverance. In this episode, the story of Eleanor continues with her imprisonment and trial at The Citadel. Will she be forgiven, or she will pay the price of guilt? “When filming Judgement, it was difficult to find the right location for the shoot” says guitarist Tommaso Monticelli. “Finally we discovered an abandoned village called Marone, by the Alps near Domodossola, and it had the vibe we were looking for. After finally getting permission to film there we had to walk 20 minutes on a stony path carrying a lot of equipment such as a 40-kilogram electric generator, a wooden throne, furniture, props, costumes, lighting, it was a lot! It took about 6 round trips for our whole crew but was worth it. The church was in terrible condition and it took a lot of work to clean it and set it up for the shoot. There were dozens of little black scorpions all over the floor inside this cold, wet church which we needed to make sure we removed before we could safely film. In this episode, I played the role of The Bishop and it was a lot of fun. Alessandra and Floriana (the costume and make-up artists) helped me all day while I was wearing that amazing but not-so-comfortable costume and I have to thank them so much for all their support during those tough days of work. Thanks also to Miss Giacomina who helped us carry down all the heavy stuff with her ATV, she was definitely a last-minute blessing from the heavens!”
