KAMALA Return with New Music After Long Time ‘Sota Sisällä’

Finnish thrash metal band Kamala is releasing new music after a long time, as today the song “Sota sisällä” (The War Inside) has been released on music services.

Singer-guitarist Karita Kivioja explains the background of the song:
“The song was inspired by the Finnish Civil War events on 1918. We visited the memorial of the Dragsvik prison camp in Tammisaari during our summer holiday in 2018 and I stayed to read the names of the dead prisoners, the children, in the largest mass grave in Finland. The grave was the final resting place of 3 100 prisoners who had died of starvation and epidemics, near the barracks area. One story was particularly poignant: a 17-year-old boy from Ostrobothnia, whose parents came all the way to Tammisaari to bring him food, but the guards would not let the prisoners who had lost the war feed their children, so the boy died in a concentration camp. And these names are on the memorial in plain sight. The Civil War tore this country to shreds and made ordinary Finns into victims as well as torturers and murderers.

This stopped, shocked and disgusted. The lyrics of the song were born from stories passed down through the family and the shock of prison camp hell. Also mixed into the lyrics were experiences of the hell inside the head and the hell in modern society called homes. Acts of the sick human mind against others, both because of the prevailing environment and because of mental breakdown.”

The song, which had been ready for some time now, took on a whole new meaning in the spring of 2022 after Russia invaded Ukraine: “As a teenager in the 90s, I never thought I would see two European countries at war with each other. Less than 1000 km away, all the horrors of war are suddenly happening all over again. Horrors that should have been consigned to history” Karita continues.

In late 2023, the band entered the SN-audio studio in Jyväskylä, Finland to record the song. The lyrics and vocal style went through quite a mill in the studio, including the appearance of Putin’s face in front of Karita’s face in the vocal booth. When the singer felt like the embodiment of the spirit of Rocky Balboa when she screamed, we started to get close to the final sound.

The music video was shot with Jaakko Manninen on December 22nd 2023. As is typical of this production, the video which uses only natural light, was perfect for shooting on the darkest day of the year. The video’s director and cinematographer Jaakko Manninen found this to be the perfect choice, as there was simply no time to waste. The final production took almost a year, but now the song is available for everyone to listen to!

The 7th Guild has released a visualizer video for “La Promessa Cremisi”, second single taken from the debut album “Triumviro” to be released on February 21st by Scarlet Records – a song that will guide the listeners to the majesty of operatic music through the lyrics written in Italian, expressing true passion and resolute will. A bittersweet reminder of how life and death could be perceived by someone cursed by an endless punishment.

FFO: Rhapsody Of Fire, Luca Turilli, Angra, Andre Matos, Avantasia, Helloween

The 7th Guild saw the light in 2021 as side-project of Skeletoon’s frontman and songwriter Tomi Fooler. The idea at its base was to put together a powerful trio of singers in the vein of the legendary Three Tenors (Luciano Pavarotti, Plácido Domingo & José Carreras).

Rhapsody Of Fire’s Giacomo Voli and Vision Divine/Derdian’s Ivan Giannini joined Tomi Fooler to create this magic trio. The band has been completed with a strong line-up that includes the blazing drumming of Michael Ehré (Gamma Ray, The Unity), who forms a granitic rhythm section with Francesco Ferraro (Freedom Call, Bloodorn) on bass. Simone Mularoni (DGM), who also produced the album at his Domination Studio, is the genius man behind the guitars, while the cinematic orchestration are vividly painted by Daniele Mazza (Ancient Bards) and Alessio Lucatti (Vision Divine, Deathless Legacy) is the majestic chief keyboard wizard.

Catchy power metal melodies are melted with a symphonic music style, giving the perception of an operatic composing process. Emerging sound passes through classic orchestral arrangements with bombastic cinematic patterns, resulting in a wonderful choral result. References to the sounds of early Rhapsody Of Fire, Andre Matos and latest Helloween appear here and there among the unique style developed by Tomi Fooler & Co.

The 7th Guild:
Tomi Fooler – vocals
Giacomo Voli – vocals
Ivan Giannini – vocals
Simone Mularoni – guitar
Francesco Ferraro – bass
Daniele Mazza – orchestras and arrangements
Alessio Lucatti – keyboards and piano
Michael Ehrè – drums

Order Social Grace here.

Of the track, the band comments: “We wanted to pay tribute to Heart as the original bad bitches of rock, and we thought the opening riff of Barracuda would sound great played even heavier. We’ve played the song live many times and people have really seemed to connect with it.”

2024 saw the New Orleans four-piece release Social Grace and head out on tour with Gwar and Brujeria, as well as play shows with the likes of Eyehategod, Terror and MDC, alongside hitting up festivals such as This Is Hardcore, New England Metal and Hardcore Festival, and Hopscotch. Kimmo Kuusniemi, the visionary behind Finland’s first heavy metal band SARCOFAGUS, proudly announces the release of the full “Live for the Last Time at Dante’s 2010” concert video on YouTube. This immersive 1h 15min video captures Sarcofagus’ final live performance in 2010, enhanced with archival footage, classic music videos, and exclusive visuals.

This performance holds special significance as it features the legendary keyboardist Esa Kotilainen, whose artistry shaped the band’s sound. Kotilainen’s passing in 2023 makes this release an emotional tribute to his lasting legacy.

Sarcofagus “Live for the Last Time at Dante’s 2010” YouTube Premiere:

A Life of Conviction: From Sarcofagus to ASA

While Sarcofagus officially ended in 2020, Kimmo Kuusniemi’s lifelong commitment to environmental and social issues continues through his work with ASA (Ancient Streaming Assembly). ASA is not about Sarcofagus’ legacy but reflects the same convictions that have driven Kuusniemi’s career, from his 1980s environmental documentaries to the WWF International Dream On project in the 1990s.

“This release is a reflection of a journey, not just of music but of purpose,” Kuusniemi explains. “Sarcofagus, Moottorilinnut, Core Values, and now ASA are all expressions of the same passion: raising awareness and inspiring action for a better world. I hope this concert inspires fans to explore these themes in their own lives and discover how ASA continues this important conversation.”

Limited Collector’s Vinyl and CD/DVD Releases

To commemorate this historic performance, Sarcofagus will release a very limited-edition double vinyl of “Live for the Last Time,” featuring unique one-off copies. In addition, a special CD/DVD set of the concert will also be available for fans who want to own a high-quality physical version of this monumental performance. Both the vinyl and CD/DVD editions capture the raw, unaltered energy of Sarcofagus’ final bow and serve as lasting tributes to its creative vision.

Witness the Legacy

The release of this concert video is not just a celebration of Sarcofagus but a continuation of Kimmo Kuusniemi’s commitment to addressing critical issues through music, film, and storytelling. Fans can now experience the band’s electrifying final performance while exploring the deeper connections to Kuusniemi’s broader mission in ASA.

Following their recent signing with ROAR (Grave Digger, Mystic Prophecy, Crematory a.o.), Australia’s VALHALORE has released a first track taken off their much-awaited, new studio epos entitled „Beyond The Stars“, which will be out on April 11th, along with the reissue of their self-released debut album „Voyage To Eternity“! Visit https://valhalore.rpm.link/beyondpr now to pre-save the band’s forthcoming new album!

Since their formation in 2013, VALHALORE conquer the world with their unique blend of Melodic Death, Power, and Symphonic Metal, infused with epic folk influences. Listen to a first album appetizer, the captivating single “Horizon”, now on: https://valhalore.rpm.link/horizonpr

The band comments: “Inspired by a particularly beautiful sunset during the Covid-19 lockdowns, Horizon is a song about hope for a brighter future. It explores the feelings of isolation we all felt during this time, and watching precious moments pass us by, yet somehow still wanting to create a life that is memorable beyond our time on earth.”

Starting January 17th, the band will support the Swedish heavy metal templars of HAMMERALL as a special guest on tour:

January 17th: MELBOURNE (AUS) – Northcote Theatre
January 18th: SYDNEY (AUS) – Manning Bar
January 19th: BRISBANE (AUS) – The Triffid

Founded by guitarist Anthony Willis and vocalist Lachlan Neate, VALHALORE swiftly became an unstoppable force in the Australian metal scene. Since their inaugural live performance in late 2015, the band’s unique blend of Melodic Death, Power, and Symphonic Metal, infused with folk influences, has resonated with audiences both domestically and abroad.

The year 2017 marked a pivotal moment for VALHALORE with the release of their debut album “Voyage Into Eternity”. The band celebrated this opus with a sold-out launch show in Brisbane and two successful national tours, “Voyage Across Australia” and “Viktoberfest”. Breaking international ground in 2018, VALHALORE toured Japan alongside world-renowned acts Ensiferum, Trollfest, and Wind Rose. Upon their return, the band showcased their versatility with the release of the acoustic EP “Solace & Solitude”, and their 2019 single “Legacy”. Between releases, VALHALORE continued to conquer Australian stages, touring with Kamelot and Trollfest in 2018, and Kalmah in 2019. Two European tours, including an eagerly-anticipated appearance at “Wacken Open Air” 2020, were regrettably cancelled by the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, undeterred by the global turmoil and prevailing uncertainties, VALHALORE spent the end of 2020 and beginning of 2021 recording their second studio album. In November 2022 VALHALORE took their live show to new heights, performing sold-out shows across Australia with UK’s Alestorm and with Arch Enemy later in February 2023. In February 2024, the band hit the road with Germany’s Blind Guardian and will support HammerFall in early 2025 in Australia, while making final preparations for their long-awaited sophomore album “Beyond The Stars” to be released on April 11, 2025, by their new label partner ROAR.

With each performance and release, VALHALORE continues to carve a unique path through the metal landscape, leaving an indelible mark on fans worldwide. The saga unfolds, and VALHALORE’s journey is poised to reach even greater heights in the years to come…

After a huge amount of gigs and smaller tours, SUBLIND dropped the very well received “The Cenosillicaphobic Sessions” in March 2023, followed in 2025 by the brand-new EP beast “Metalmorphosis” … [ learn more here » ]
