WAXWOLF Sign with Wanikiya Record, New EP “Magic Madness Sadness” Coming Up

Wanikiya Records is pleased to announce the addition of an innovative project to its roster, one that promises to captivate fans of avant-garde music, metal, and beyond: WAXWOLF. This project, a unique blend of death metal, progressive rock, fusion, and even chiptune, brings a fresh wave of creativity and originality, embodying the spirit of an artist in constant pursuit of expressive freedom.

The Essence of Waxwolf
Waxwolf was created as a “container” for the artist’s music, allowing for total creative freedom without stylistic constraints. The concept is to embrace each new composition as an independent journey, inspired by a desire for experimentation and the experience felt at the moment of writing. As the artist explains, the influences range from extreme metal to more unusual and hybrid soundscapes. “I’ve been described as ‘Zappa meets death metal,’” he says, “and while I’m flattered by such a comparison, I know I’m far from Zappa’s talent.” Waxwolf honors Frank Zappa’s pioneering vision, offering a musical experience that pushes well beyond traditional boundaries.

Origins and Evolution
Waxwolf has gone through several phases before arriving at Wanikiya Records. The initial debut dates back to the first demo, As Black As A Diamond, recorded with multi-instrumentalist Patrick Novara, who, before his passing, contributed his unique musical skills. After a period of pause and introspection, Waxwolf was reborn during the COVID-19 lockdown, when the artist delved into electronic music production (leading to the creation of Civitas Solis) and began planning the full recording of his work.

Prestigious Collaborations and Steady Growth
Waxwolf’s musical journey has been marked by collaborations with some of the biggest names in the international metal scene. With Hannes Grossmann on drums and a guest guitar solo by Christian Münzner, Our Love emerged as a work halfway between a demo and an EP. The release of The Golden Room, the first official EP, marked a new level of maturity, featuring Linus Klausenitzer on bass for the title track and cover art by artist Gaia Carlesso. Here, clarinetist Vittorio Sabelli (Dawn Of A Dark Age) began his collaboration, further enriching Waxwolf’s sound universe.

Upcoming EP and Collaboration with Wanikiya Records
Currently, Waxwolf is recording his third EP, titled Magic Madness Sadness. This project marks a step forward in complexity and ambition, with Hannes and Linus featured on all tracks and Vittorio Sabelli’s increasingly refined clarinet contributions. Visually, the cover art will be crafted by Helvetica Blanc, adding an extra layer of depth and visual impact to the EP, which will officially signal the beginning of Waxwolf’s collaboration with Wanikiya Records.

A Look Ahead
For Waxwolf, joining the Wanikiya Records family is a crucial opportunity to continue exploring musical experimentation and to reach a broader audience. The artist has more material in the works, ready to be recorded and shared, with the goal of offering fans unique, unconventional music, rich with fresh inspiration. “This project was created primarily for myself, but I enjoy being able to offer something different to those who appreciate musical experimentation.”

PROPHETS OF ADDICTION Premiere New Video ‘Let’s Get High’

West Coast based glam, punk ‘n’ rollers PROPHETS OF ADDICTION just released the new music video for the track “Let’s Get High” from their new album “Face the Music” through BraveWords Records. The video was premiered by Sleaze Roxx and can be viewed here.

The album Face the Music can be streamed or purchased at https://smarturl.it/prophetsofaddiction

Lead singer Lesli Sanders shares the story of the song and video, “We are all looking for a “high,” although the term is often associated with drug use; in reality, it is most often not the case. In this case, the topic of the song as I was penning the lyrics was a reflection back into time of the excitement that surrounded a new release from a favorite band of mine. It was the effort put into not only purchasing the record, saving up money doing odd jobs, or whatever, as money was never handed to me; it had to be earned. Then I knew I had to be at the record store in a timely fashion as it could sell out real quickly; maybe the particular mom and pop record store only would have 6 copies? I would get there by any means necessary, which usually meant my bicycle. Then the race was on, and after purchasing that record, I would hightail it home to throw that thing on the turntable with an excitement rarely found in this now world of instant gratification. I mean, this was an accumulation of weeks, if not months, of preparation. Once that music was blasting, shaking the house much to my mom’s dismay, it was time to double-task, as I would listen to every nuance all the while scouring the artwork, credits, and photos. It was a time of great excitement and a good “HIGH.””

2 – Let’s Get High
3 – Slippin’ Away

CAELESTIA Present Official Lyric Video ‘No Man’s Land’

“No Man’s Land” is a track from CAELESTIA’s EP Infernalia, available now on all digital platforms. The EP will also be released on CD through Wormholedeath Worldwide. Stay tuned for more details.

The word “Infernalia” is the exact antonym of “Caelestia” and marks the band’s foundation to a more extreme and guitar-riff-based modern death metal style (with melodic & black metal passages). The EP consists of 4 tracks, which are indicative of the band’s new musical direction, aimed at reintroducing the band to the public. In terms of lyrics, the band explores a wide array of dark subjects, spanning from grim historical events to horror/dark literature, or insidious states of the human mind. Orchestral parts are still part of the music, but now they serve more as introductions or intervals, and not as the main foundation like in the previous releases. Prominent guitar riffs and variating bass lines intertwine with each other, setting the frame in which extreme drumming unfolds, outlining the clear and direct new song.

Transcending Boundaries, Embracing Extremes. Connect with the pulse of modern death metal. Join our journey through soundscapes dark and sublime.

While at home amongst the shadows, Mörk Gryning have been a blazing force in black metal since the early ’90s. The melodic Swedes refuse to yield to trends, honoring their feral countrymen by carving out raw, apocalyptic symphonies. Their upcoming new album, Fasornas Tid, is scrawled in the same sacred and bloody ink as their seminal debut, yet remains drenched in the visceral immediacy of the present.

The ferocity of the album’s new single is unmatched. “Black Angel” leads listeners through a dystopian landscape, blending melodic black metal mastery and the savagery of death metal.

Mörk Gryning was founded in Stockholm, Sweden in 1993 by Goth Gorgon and Draakh Kimera. Two years later they released their debut album “Tusen År Har Gått” (1995), recorded and mixed at Unisound Studios, by legendary producer Dan Swanö and released by No Fashion. The album is one of the milestones of the ‘90s Swedish Black Metal scene.

The group returned to action in November 1996, working at Sunlight Studios together with Tomas Skogsberg and Dismember’s Fred Estby to craft the “Return Fire” album. Over the following years, three more albums were released, for example “Maelstrom Chaos” with new guitarist Avathar, a scene veteran, recorded at the legendary Grieghallen Studios Bergen, Norway.

Ever since the debut album, “Tusen år har gått…”, Mörk Gryning has refused to follow in the footsteps of others and walked their own paths – something which is made very clear on the 2003 release “Pieces of Primal Expressionism”, an experimental and heavy progressive release recorded at Dug Out, produced by Daniel Bergstrand. After a couple of years of touring and festival performances, the band was put on hold.

Returning to the scene again in 2017, the band performed an exclusive live show in Stockholm playing all the songs from the debut album and some other songs from the back catalogue. This ended in releasing the 4-song live record called “Live at Kraken”. During the pandemic the comeback album “Hinsides Vrede” was released to much critical acclaim with many of the songs today being the backbone of their live shows. A new album is scheduled for release in 2024 and the band is more active than ever.

This rendition brings the song full circle, returning it to its origins as a piano melody, yet with a renewed sense of depth and emotion. The uplifting and cinematic qualities of the original track shine through in this arrangement, showcasing the song’s ability to connect with listeners on a more intimate level. Misstiq’s masterful touch breathes new life into the composition, allowing the piano to carry the weight of the melody and reveal nuances that may have been hidden before.
