FREE MACHINE Unveil Visualizer Video for New Single ‘The Comedown’

FREE MACHINE, a passion-driven music project forged by two sets of friends united by a shared love of ’90s grunge, is thrilled to release their new single, “The Comedown”, alongside a lyric video. The track is a standout from their recently released debut album Dead Echoes, which pays homage to the iconic rock sounds of the MTV era.

Free Machine isn’t your typical band. Comprising four former gigging musicians who have left the touring scene behind, this group embodies a deep, authentic love for the music of their youth. Inspired by the sounds of Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Temple of the Dog, Big Wreck, and Pearl Jam, Free Machine’s music is a time capsule of grunge nostalgia.

“Creating this album was about challenging ourselves to craft songs we’d want to listen to,” shares the band. “It’s about recapturing the spirit of throwing on a cassette or CD and rocking out to something real and timeless.”

What makes Free Machine’s project truly remarkable is their approach. The entire album was created remotely, with all four members writing, jamming, and recording independently. Despite the distance, their shared passion and a clear vision for ‘90s-inspired rock resulted in a cohesive and striking debut album.

Built on a hypnotic, groove-laden riff reminiscent of Soundgarden’s raw energy and Alice in Chains’ haunting depth, “The Comedown” explores themes of release and self-expression. “The chorus puts you in a dream-like state, contrasting beautifully with the attitude-loaded verses,” says the band.

Lyrically, the track reflects a rebellious yet laid-back perspective on personal freedom. “It’s about tuning out the noise of judgment and just enjoying the little moments of release,” explains Free Machine. “Whether it’s unwinding after a long week or escaping the pressures of others’ expectations, the message is simple: do your thing and let others do theirs.”

Free Machine emphasizes that this is a project built solely for the love of music. There are no grand tours, massive promo pushes, or endless marketing campaigns—just a group of musicians creating music they’re passionate about and sharing it with like-minded fans.

KINGSPHERE was established at the turn of 2019 and 2020 in Rybnik, Upper Silesia In Poland. Initially, a two-person project, over time it turned into a full-fledged band that is currently actively performing. Kingsphere’s music is a clash of modern metal with old school melodic death metal, and all this is seasoned with a solid dose of electronics. The band has released two self-produced albums: “Enigmatic” (2022) and “Kingsphere” (2021), available in digital distribution on the most popular streaming platforms.

Today, Kingsphere is releasing brand new song titled “Archetype“.

“Archetype” is an intense and dynamic track that captures the essence of Kingsphere’s sound. It combines heavy, hard-hitting verses with melodic and emotionally charged choruses, creating a powerful contrast. The energy is elevated by intricate guitar solos that add an electrifying edge and depth to the song.

The track also features a mystical bridge, offering a moment of atmosphere and intrigue before diving back into its relentless energy. “Archetype” is a journey through aggression, melody, and emotion, reflecting both the raw power and the introspective side of the band.

SAKAHITER Share ‘Ver Sacrum’ Single + Video from Upcoming Album

Italian black metal act SAKAHITER will release their new album “Samnite Black Metal” on February 7th 2025 via Time To Kill Records.

Today, the band shares the album’s second single: watch the video for “Ver Sacrum” at THIS LOCATION.

The band commented:

“The last track of the album ‘Samnite Black Metal’ to be composed, ‘Ver Sacrum’ perfectly embodies the band’s current style.
The Ver Sacrum, meaning ‘Sacred Spring,’ was a social and religious ritual practiced by many ancient populations, including the Samnites. It involved relocating a part of the community to establish new colonies. Whenever the urban center reached its maximum demographic capacity, to ensure the community’s sustenance, all the harvests, animals, and human beings born in the following spring were consecrated to a deity. The first fruits were consumed in ritual meals, animals were sacrificed, and the children were from that moment raised as sacred, meaning protected by the gods. Once they reached adulthood and were fully equipped with weapons, they were compelled to migrate and found new settlements elsewhere. These new settlements were not always welcomed amicably, so they often had to face wars to seize the new lands.”

“Samnite Black Metal” delves into the dark and ancestral rites of the Samnites, an ancient warrior people of southern Italy. Each track plunges into a sonic abyss of primal fury, evoking the mysticism and brutality of their rituals tied to the forces of nature.

Its dark and powerful soundscapes embody the courage and rage of a people who fought to their last breath, invoking arcane deities and practicing ancient rites of war and sacrifice.

This is a sonic experience that fuses the brutal ferocity of death metal with the occult atmosphere of black metal. It dissolves the line between life and death, resurrecting the Samnites as lords of a lost world steeped in magic and darkness.

The album’s concept immerses the listener in archaic and forgotten mythologies, exploring themes of ancient mysticism, darkness, and a profound connection with the spirits of nature and malevolent forces. It draws on the Samnites’ war rituals and sacrificial practices performed before battle to secure the favor of the gods. The atmosphere is intense and suffocating, with dark and sinister tones conjuring visions of shadowy forests, crumbling temples, and ancient rites.

Amid sharp guitars and relentless drumming, the call of dark gods resonates. The vocals narrate tales of rituals steeped in blood and fire, worshiping hidden deities nestled in the woods and mountains. The brutal soundscapes—driven by distorted guitars and vocals that alternate between guttural growls and piercing screams—mirror the ferocity of war and the mysticism of magical rites.

Raw, aggressive guitar riffs intertwine with atmospheric passages and evocative sounds. The drums echo like relentless war cries, while the vocals seem to emerge from the depths of shadowy forests and the heart of the mountains.

The band was formed in Campobasso in 2002 under the name SAKAHITER, which in the Oscan language means “let it be sacrificed.”

More specifically, it referred to the sacrifices of men and animals to propitiate the gods before a battle, a ceremony deeply rooted among the Samnites. Oscan was chosen because it is the ancient language spoken by the Samnites, a warrior people originally from a restricted area of southern Italy centered in Molise, Campania, and Basilicata.

From the very beginning, SAKAHITER identified their genre as Samnite Black Metal, as both the lyrics and iconography reflect Samnite history.

In 2003, they released their first demo, “Lex Sacrata,” recorded in Rome at the Temple Of Noise Studios, using as the cover an 1879 engraving depicting the defeat of the Romans at the hands of the Samnites and the humiliation of the Caudine Forks.

After several live performances and some lineup changes, SAKAHITER recorded “Omnes Eiura Deos,” a 7-inch vinyl, again in Rome but this time at the 16th Cellar Studios, released in early 2005.

With a new lineup, in 2021, SAKAHITER signed a contract with Nova Era Records to release a new EP, “Legio Linteata,” and to reissue “Lex Sacrata.”

The band boasts numerous performances supporting acts such as Sodom, Dismember, Onslaught, Belphegor, Master and Necrodeath.

Line-up:

Hirpus – Vocals
Flauros – Guitars
Mamerte – Guitars
Hrim – Bass
Alastor – Drums

Irish BREN BERRY Releases New Single ‘Knives (Heavy Metal Rain)’, New Album “In Hope Our Stars Align” Out January 31st

“Knives (Heavy Metal Rain)” is the latest single from Bren Berry’s forthcoming debut solo album “In Hope Our Stars Align” which is out on January 31st.

‘IN HOPE OUR STARS ALIGN’ – preorder link: https://brenberry.ie/

Like his previous single “Turn On Your Radio”, “Knives (Heavy Metal Rain)” is a protest song, a call-to-arms to tune into the best of ourselves and the world around us as we continue to sleep-walk into climate disasters everywhere. This is Berry’s most strikingly lyrical song yet, loaded with sardonic, foreboding metaphors addressing the planet’s unfolding environmental crisis. But, as always with Bren’s writing, there is a conscious focus for optimism coded within the unstoppable melody that carries the piledriving guitars and cinematic strings and words that rally for positive action as he sings:
“Reach out for the high notes, that blow us all away. The living saints and the lifeboats, that save us every day.”
“I wrote this song in response to complacent half-measures and cynical greenwashing as the planet is increasingly on fire or underwater,” explains Bren. “It is also an anthem to hope, the power of activism and positive direct action for the common good. I was inspired at the time of writing by David Attenborough’s clarion call at COP26: “Is this how our story is going to end? Failing to see the bigger picture in pursuit of short-term goals… we must use this opportunity to create a more equal world, and our motivation should not be fear, but hope.” I got the idea for the chorus “Don’t bring knives to a gunfight” from a Sean Connery line in Brian De Palma’s “The Untouchables.”

The song was produced by Berry and Gavin Glass in Orphan Studios and mixed and mastered by D. James Goodwin in The Isokon, New York and Virginia. “I am extremely grateful to Gavin and Daniel and to the musicians who played on this record with me and really raised the bar on this song. I love Gavin’s “Jah Wobble-in-cowboy-boots” bass playing and the way it locks in with Binzer’s drums.”

Danny Anderson joins Berry on vocal harmonies and Cormac Curran delivers an epic widescreen Ennio Morricone / Jean-Claude Vannier inspired string arrangement that was performed by the wonderful Orphan Strings featuring Lynda O’Connor (Violin), Paul O’Hanlon (Violin), Gerald Peregrine (Cello) and Carla Vedres (Viola).
