Quebec-based melodic symphonic metallers TROLLWAR continues to build anticipation for their upcoming EP with the release of “The Offering”, the second single from their forthcoming EP “Tales from the Frozen Wastes”. The single further showcases Trollwar’s musical evolution, presenting a harmonious blend of aggressive metal riffs, intricate symphonic arrangements, and progressive elements. The song delves deeper into the EP’s overarching theme of a falling pantheon and the glooming curse that befalls adventurers who dare to tread where they’re unwelcome. The band shares their thoughts:

“This is the most recent song composition-wise. We think that this one is the best representation of where the Trollwar sound has evolved. It contains some great Melodic Death Metal riffs, a good chorus, epic symphonies.. the whole package. This is also the 2nd song where we have a guest coming in to push the limit of the song with astonishing power metal vocals and choirs.”

They go on to explain that the black-metal elements are also brought forward, with an epic evil bridge that will give chills to the symphonic black metal enjoyers. The transitions are smooth and flow easily.

This is the last song off the album, leaving the listener with an enjoyable symphonic epilogue, and giving hints of something greater to come. It is a pivotal piece in the narrative of the EP, representing the moment where the veil between worlds thins, and the consequences of mortal ambition clash with divine will. It is recommended for those who enjoy Amon Amarth, Kalmah, and Equilibrium.

SMILE EMPTY SOUL Release Lyric Video for Latest Single ‘We All Fall Down’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on November 3, 2024
Posted in: News. Tagged: SMILE EMPTY SOUL. Leave a comment

Alt-rock veterans Smile Empty Soul have unveiled their lyric video for single, “We All Fall Down”. The track is a preview of their upcoming EP, Swan Song, which is scheduled for release at the end of the year through TLG|ZOID distributed by Virgin Music Group.

“We all live unique lives, but what we have in common is that life kicks the shit out of us all in various ways. Learning how to overcome that is key to survival and the ability to thrive,” says Sean Danielsen.

The song was written and produced by Sean Danielsen, engineered by Brian Scheffer, mixed and mastered by Eddie Wohl.

Stream “We All Fall Down” at https://bit.ly/SESWeAllFallDown

SMILE EMPTY SOUL is a hard rock band that originated in Los Angeles, CA in the late 1990’s and has stayed true to their brand of “no bullshit”, “real as it gets” hard rock to this day. The band signed a major label record deal in 2003 to release their self-titled debut album in May of that year. They realized huge success at alternative radio, rock radio, and the music video channels that have since fallen by the wayside or turned into reality show networks.

After 3 very successful singles/videos and a gold record from the debut release, the band ran into trouble with their record company (which was in the midst of turmoil at the top levels) and found themselves working extra hard in the trenches, and signed to indie labels or no label at all from then on.

This would become SMILE EMPTY SOUL’s destiny, as they have gone on to release many more albums and EP’s on various labels, as well as their own company “smile empty music inc”. The band released their 9th full length record Black Pilled on October 12th of 2021 completely on their own.

“Smile” has become known for its constant touring and never wavering honest sound/lyrics. They’ve never changed for anybody, and turned down many opportunities to “sell out” because it’s not who they are.

With a new album, and just as much drive as they had starting out 20 years ago, this band looks to continue to build on the legacy they’ve created as one of the hardest working, and most underrated bands in rock and roll.

The band has recently partnered with TLG|ZOID distributed by Virgin Music Group to release new music. Denny Sanders (The Label Group) and Sean Danielsen previously partnered on the successful release of Consciousness. Released in 2009 the record has become second only to the band’s debut release in popularity.

ILLEGAL MIND Release New Single ‘Foo!’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on November 3, 2024
Posted in: News. Tagged: ILLEGAL MIND. Leave a comment

In their latest single, ILLEGAL MIND turns their sardonic humor toward the world of craft beer. Titled “Foo!”, this track takes a swing at the growing trend of sour beers like lambics and goses, which have polarized beer lovers across the globe. The song’s protagonist is based on a real-life craft beer aficionado, Yana Osin, who happens to be a close friend and travel buddy of Maxx, the creative force behind the band. Yana, like many craft beer enthusiasts, has a deep love for stouts and IPAs but can’t stand the taste of sours. “Foo!” is both a humorous homage to her strong opinions and a playful critique of the craft beer scene’s obsession with these peculiar brews.

The lyrics take listeners through a comical journey of disappointment as the character reluctantly tries lambics and goses, only to be met with disgust. With lines like “Smelled like a horse’s barn, I thought, ‘What is this?'” and “I think I’d rather chew a shoe!”, Illegal Mind blends their signature post-apocalyptic, rebellious tone with lighthearted jabs at the world of funky sour ales. The track doesn’t just poke fun at the beer itself but also the culture that surrounds it, mocking the acquired taste that some claim to love. The repeated cry of “Foo! How can you drink this stuff?” becomes a central motif in the song, hammering home the character’s disbelief.

Musically, “Foo!” maintains the band’s heavy, alternative metal sound, but it incorporates a punk rock spirit to match the lyrical sarcasm. The song is fast-paced, with punchy riffs and an anthemic chorus that’s impossible not to shout along to. The chant of “Foo!” serves as both a battle cry and an exasperated rejection of the sour beer trend, making it clear where the character’s—and by extension, the band’s—loyalties lie: with the rich, robust flavors of stouts and IPAs.

For Maxx and Illegal Mind, “Foo!” is more than just a funny take on beer culture. It’s a tribute to Yana Osin, a person who shares their passion for beer and music, and who’s unafraid to speak her mind. Special recognition goes to Dmitry Voyevodin, the top contributor and lyrics author, who helped shape the song into what it is today. Dmitry, also a craft beer enthusiast, played a key role in crafting the song’s lyrical content. The song reflects the friendship and shared adventures between Maxx, Yana, and Dmitry, giving fans an inside look into the personal relationships that fuel the band’s creativity. With “Foo!” being both a personal dedication and a humorous anthem, it’s a refreshing take on the alternative metal genre—one that’s sure to leave fans raising their own glasses in agreement.
