DAWN OF SOLACE, the brainchild of esteemed musician Tuomas Saukkonen from WOLFHEART and BEFORE THE DAWN, has set the stage for the imminent launch of their highly awaited new studio album, “Affliction Vortex”, scheduled to drop on February 14 through Noble Demon. Offering a glimpse into this monumental release, the band has lifted the curtain on their first single, “Murder”, a track that masterfully embodies the band’s signature fusion of Finnish melancholy and relentless intensity.

The song is released alongside a brand new music video directed by Winter Notes Production, which you can watch below.

Listen to the single HERE

Tuomas Saukkonen shared his insight about the single, stating: “Murder was the first song that got written and that usually comes my #1 pick for the first single. A majestic beacon that guided the rest of the creative process with its cold and dark light.“

Established in 2005 as Saukkonen’s side project, DAWN OF SOLACE embodied a different shade of musical creativity, with their debut album “The Darkness” seeing the light of day in 2006. Despite a decade-long hiatus due to legal entanglements, the band’s loyal fan base kept their flame alive, with the debut album gathering momentum on digital platforms such as Spotify.

2019 marked a new beginning when finally all obstacles to continue the band were overcame and a new alliance was forged with Noble Demon. This partnership was one of the primal forces pushing DAWN OF SOLACE back to the international scene of melancholic metal, producing two full-length albums (“Waves” 2020, “Flames of Perdition” 2022) and an unplugged EP, until the band entered the studio in the beginning of 2024 to craft their most versatile album to date. The creation that emerged, “Affliction Vortex”, encapsulates Nordic melancholy and unadulterated Finnish darkness, poised to be unleashed on February 14, 2025!

“Affliction Vortex” was recorded, mixed and mastered by Saku Moilanen at DeepNoise Studios and is now available for pre-order at THIS LOCATION

DAWN OF SOLACE are:
Tuomas Saukkonen – Drums, guitars, bass and growling vocals
Mikko Heikkilä – Clean and growling vocals
Saku Moilanen – Keys

Grammy-nominated powerhouse Beth Hart is back with the release of her highly anticipated new album, You Still Got Me, out now via Provogue / Mascot Label Group. To celebrate the occasion, Beth has also unveiled a stunning in-studio video for the album’s explosive opening track, “Savior With A Razor,” which features a jaw-dropping collaboration with Guns N’ Roses’ legendary guitarist, Slash.

The track, a soaring rocker, erupts with Beth’s gritty vocals, as she snarls the powerful lyrics: “Dig my bad bones out the trash, sell my sick soul, keep the cash, kiss the preacher, kiss my ass, I’m a rager, like a savior, with a razor, I’m takin’ the devil down.” This Bond-like anthem thunders with nihilistic defiance, and Beth’s towering vocal performance guides the listener through the shadows, breaking through the ceiling with Slash’s electrifying guitar wrapping itself around the story. The two artists unite in a dynamic and intense performance that showcases their undeniable chemistry.

“Beth Hart is one of my favorite artists to work with,” shared Slash. “She is an incredible singer/lyricist on so many levels. But Beth is also as sincere and genuine a friend as they come. She’s amazing.”

“Slash is a real team player,” echoed Beth. “I’ve met some pretty incredible people in this business that are high profilers, and that dude is the best team player I’ve ever come across. He’s just a badass with zero ego and knows a lot about the razor’s edge. I got really lucky. I reached out and said, ‘Hey man, would you be at all interested?’, and he was absolutely down. He was totally into it, and I was just shocked.”

The accompanying in-studio video captures the raw energy of the recording process, offering a behind-the-scenes look at Beth’s intense vocal delivery as she sings to Slash’s electrifying guitar work. The video spotlights Beth’s powerful presence, bringing the song’s dark, defiant spirit to life, with Slash’s guitar adding an electrifying layer to the track’s bold and captivating sound.

Beth Hart will be touring the US and Europe throughout 2024 and into 2025. You can get tickets  HERE.

You Still Got Me follows the release of several singles and music videos that have captivated fans and set the stage for the full album. The heartfelt “Wonderful World,” written for Beth’s niece and inspired by the lineage of women in her family, showcased her deeply personal songwriting and optimism. Similarly, “Little Heartbreak Girl” offered an uplifting message of hope and strength, with Beth’s powerful voice delivering an empowering anthem.

You Still Got Me is Beth Hart’s eleventh studio album and continues to elevate her as one of the most powerful voices in contemporary music. The album features an array of standout tracks, including “Savior With A Razor” and collaborations with renowned artists such as Eric Gales on the groove-laden “Suga N My Bowl.”

This release follows the success of her 2022 album A Tribute To Led Zeppelin and 2019’s War In My Mind, which marked career milestones with chart-topping positions in the UK, US, and across Europe. With You Still Got Me, Beth once again bares her soul, delivering an album that’s both raw and empowering, touching on themes of resilience, love, and self-discovery.

SCHAMMASCH Unleash Sixth Studio Album “The Maldoror Chants: Old Ocean”, Out Now

SCHAMMASCH have released their sixth studio effort, The Maldoror Chants: Old Ocean, via Prosthetic Records. The Swiss avant-garde experimentalists new album serves as the second offering in their The Maldoror Chants series, which is inspired by the 19th Century poetic novel Les chants de Maldoror by Comte de Lautréamont (Isidore Lucien Ducasse).

Stream the album via Apple Music | TIDAL | Deezer | Bandcamp and Spotify
Order The Maldoror Chants: Old Ocean here.

With Old Ocean SCHAMMASCH continue their 2017 journey into the bizarre and mystical spheres of Les chants de Maldoror, a dark 19th century literary classic that later ignited the spark responsible for the surrealist movement. Ever on the path of transformation, SCHAMMASCH once again take on new creative directions while still staying true to their signature trade of extensive compositions rich in experimentation and creativity, emotion and density.

Commenting on the album release, SCHAMMASCH shares: “Old Ocean is a monolithic opus of dark romanticism, expressing a deep longing for escaping human society and its petty sorrows, while at the same time singing high praise to the impregnable majesty of nature.

“The main artwork was once again created by Mexican surrealist Hector Pinéda who did a fantastic job in illustrating the album‘s underlying surrealistic vibes. Combined with the victorianesque framing stemming from UK-based illustration artist Adrian Baxter, as well as C.S.R’s own layout work on the packaging of Old Ocean, the album‘s aesthetical work beautifully reflects the love for detail that‘s flown into its every aspect.”

Originally conceived as a collection of shorter releases the idea behind The Maldoror Chants series has developed into a more elaborate shape and structure. This upcoming release will be the second in an ongoing series of works by SCHAMMASCH that draws from Les Chants de Maldoror – one of the 19th century’s most fascinating literary works which would later become part of the foundation of the surrealist movement. The first SCHAMMASCH release inspired by the book was 2017’s The Maldoror Chants: Hermaphrodite. The poetic novel was written by Comte de Lautréamont (also known as Isidore Lucien Ducasse) and published in the late 1860s. His writings have proved influential to other writers, musicians and visual artists over the years – including the likes of Dalí and Magritte.

For The Maldoror Chants: Old Ocean, SCHAMMASCH have specifically drawn inspiration from sections of the text that serve as a hymn to the splendour of the ocean as well as a provocative comparison between ocean and humanity, sardonically highlighting the latter’s inferiority. Finding a kinship to the evocative, melancholic sense of vastness, loneliness and societal aversion conjured up in the text, SCHAMMASCH’s chief songwriter, C.S.R embraced the book’s spirit and surreal lucidity during the persevering difficulties of the past years, resulting in personal growth and, yet again, a transformation of SCHAMMASCH’s artistic horizon. Old Ocean inherits an underlying sense of a longing; a longing to step outside of human society, to wash away the profanities and petty struggles – to dissolve into the unfathomable yet somewhat peaceful void of the sea, vanishing into the great unknown.

Sonically, the album charts the continued evolution in the sound of SCHAMMASCH; dark, gothy undertones rise often to the surface with sultry spoken word taking centre stage at various points. A pulsating, monolithic rhythm flows through the album with their atmospheric take on post-black metal providing a majestic backdrop – replete with a love for detail and the use of unusual elements like accordions, classical orchestration or industrial soundscapes – to explore existential thoughts on humanity and its ambivalent relationship to nature. Ethereal layers are delicately applied with the additional vocals of Kathrine Shepard (Sylvaine) on They Have Found Their Master and Image of the Infinite.

As has increasingly become the case, many of the album’s production duties were carried out by C.S.R himself, maintaining his introspective gaze on the work under creation. Additional engineering was handled by Michael Zech (The Ruins of Beverast, Secrets of the Moon), with further engineering, mixing and mastering courtesy of Markus Stock (Empyrium, The Vision Bleak). As with The Maldoror Chants: Hermaphrodite, the artwork for the release was created by Mexican surrealist Héctor Pineda, with the layout completed by C.S.R’s own Eye of Saros.

Whilst the music and lyrics that make up The Maldoror Chants: Old Ocean unfurled over the past decade-plus before being committed to tape, the resulting album is a vital and fresh sounding addition to the SCHAMMASCH discography. It may just be their most coherent work to date; an opus rich in creativity, leaving much to discover.

The Maldoror Chants: Old Ocean tracklist:
1. Crystal Waves
2. A Somber Mystery
3. Your Waters Are Bitter
4. They Have Found Their Master
5. Image of the Infinite
6. I Hail You, Old Ocean

Upcoming SCHAMMASCH tour dates:

TRAPEZE Release Single And Video ‘Homeland’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on October 26, 2024
Posted in: News. Tagged: TRAPEZE. Leave a comment

TRAPEZE present “Homeland”, the second single taken from the new album ‘Lost Tapes Vol.2’ which will be released on 15th November by Metalville Records.

“Homeland” captures you straight away with a classic hard rock riff and a hook that you can’t get out of your head. Guitarist Mel Galley once again demonstrates his inimitable flair for great melodies and perfectly placed accents. The distinctive, majestic voice of the ‘Voice Of Rock’, Mr Glenn Hughes, hovers over everything.

When rock band Trapeze called it a day, they left behind them a series of now classic albums. Their influence on other groups has been immense; individual members themselves going on to join heavy weight rock acts such as Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Judas Priest & Uriah Heep. But their story’s not over, as TRAPEZE – LOST TAPES VOL. 2 continues to prove!

Recorded either side of album releases these are great songs, stockpiled, but never released; some with the intention of developing them even further later, as Trapeze hit the ground running, playing live relentlessly; honing their craft while rarely seeing home. Here too you’ll find rare lineups featured – previously only rumoured at, often considered fable at best – but now revealed proudly for the first time & given their deserved day in the sun.

Hard-wired guitars, wailing synthesisers, rhythm sections that kick-ass then get the funk out, with out-of-sight vocal performances throughout guaranteed. Be that on hard rockers such as Fighting and Loser, ballads like the exclusive early rendition of Coast To Coast, even near-country rock asides in Must Be In Love through to progressive AOR rock explorations on Welcome To the Real World. Then of course there’s their pioneering brand of funk rock on tracks like Can You Feel It? & Way Back To The Bone among others. Plus, the song that tells you exactly what made this English band tick; the heartfelt rush of Homeland.

Poignantly, TRAPEZE – LOST TAPES VOL. 2 also features Live Fast, Die Laughing, the last song ever recorded by founding member, band leader & guitarist/vocalist Mel Galley before his passing in 2008.

Having practically retired from the music business, except for the odd session, Galley had a change of heart. “He got his hunger back!” revealed his brother, songwriter & producer Tom Galley. “We started working on various things and he was very much up for putting Trapeze back together; we’d got the players he wanted to use, and were recording again.” The guitarist also played a soldout local solo gig, unaware what destiny had in store when he was later diagnosed with cancer. “He was still up for for it. It was so special just to get him in the studio – What you hear is pretty much live single takes of him singing, laying down guitars and bass, with drum programming by Gary Alkins done out at Bloxwich in the UK.”

Rocking out with urgent vitality, in Live Fast, Die Laughing you feel Mel Galley’s zest for life; play it loud and he’s here with us again, offering sound advice with Trapeze style pizazz.

Like the predecessor album ‘Lost Tapes Vol.1’, released in November 2023, TRAPEZE – LOST TAPES VOL. 2 was collated by Tom Galley with assistance from band manager Tony Perry, alongside Marcus Galley once more honouring his father’s legacy by designing this very special collection that features rare & exclusive photos by Carl Dunn.
