Finnish melodic death metal band Alias Noone‘s debut album Weight of the World was recorded during 2023-24 at the D-Studios in multiple sessions. The album contains 9 tracks songs that are powerful and melodic without losing the Alias Noone signature heavyness and groove. All the songs contain much more hooks than before. Every song tells you something about the weight of the world and the things that are pushing us down in modern society.

Listen to the album on music services (Spotify, Bandcamp, Apple Music, Tidal, Deezer etc.): https://push.fm/fl/aliasnoone-wotw

Guitarist Juha-Pekka Tiainen tells about the album:

“Huge feelings, shit loads of work with this album. The way we used to work, totally turned around during the sessions in The Weight of the World. We are truly honoured to release this album! I can’t even portray me feelings while I’m having the first ever album in my hands! Like having a baby. The devastating news of my beloved friend and band mate passing crushed me. I’m so honoured to released this album so the spirit of my friend carries on.”

Bass player Antti Valkama continues:

“Making the album was a long and difficult project, as they often are. Tragic things happened during the recording, which make this even more important in its own way. I am very proud of the end result. It shows the handprint and hard work of all of us.”

The production is top notch and the sound is bigger than in Alias Noone’s previous releases. “We wanted to push the sound as big as possible without losing the things that make us sound the way we do” tells the band. the synths and programming is done by Jarno Hänninen from the band Dead End Finland. Jarno is the producer and engineer as well.

When asked about who will love the album, the band tells that the sound is a mixture of Dark Tranquillity, Insomnium, In Flames, Amorphis, Sentenced and more without sounding exactly any of them. “We think our sound is ours, but if you want to put a label on it then the more melodic side of melodic death metal is the closest. There are so much different things in our songs but metal fans will love the album.”

FIXATION Deliver Powerful, Experimental + Emotionally Charged Mini-Album “Speak in Tongues”

Shortly after their successful debut album, the award-winning metalcore band Fixation is ready to release new music with Speak in Tongues – a conceptual mini-album exploring themes of belonging, identity, and power. Across eight tracks, the band from Norway takes listeners on a musical journey where thought-provoking lyrics and a complex soundscape intertwine.

The album is both epic and experimental, drawing inspiration from films and TV series like Dune and Don’t Worry Darling, as well as artists like Aurora. Fixation introduces a refined yet hard-hitting expression, where the grand melodic vocals the band is known for are now mixed with intense screaming – a new dimension from vocalist Jonas Hansen.

Listen to the album here: https://ffm.to/speakintongues

“The album is about a person searching for meaning in a world that rejects them,” explains Hansen. “They find refuge in a cult, but quickly realize it’s no better than the society they felt excluded from. They decide to create their own cult but loses touch with themself in the process.” Hansen adds that the band has long been fascinated by cult movements and their psychological power. The album is filled with hidden hints and “Easter eggs” for attentive listeners.

Musically, Fixation has continued their evolution following their critically acclaimed debut album More Subtle Than Death from 2023. On Speak in Tongues, we hear a band that has refined its sound, experimented with vocal techniques, and integrated musical elements to create something unique. “We believe this is our best work to date,” says Hansen. “We’ve learned so much as songwriters and instrumentalists, and this time there were no compromises. We hope the world loves this as much as we do.”

Speak in Tongues is released today October 11th, 2024, marking a new high point in what has already been a groundbreaking year for Fixation. The band received the Breakthrough of the Year award at the Norwegian Publishing Awards earlier this year, as well as a nomination for Song of the Year for the track Ignore the Disarray. These historic recognitions are notable, as no metal band had previously been nominated for or won these awards.

The Breakthrough of the Year award came as a result of the band’s rapid progress, establishing themselves as one of the most promising and exciting newcomers in the genre. Throughout 2023, Fixation released their debut album and performed over 60 international shows with renowned acts like Devin Townsend, Imminence, and Annisokay. Their intense and energetic live performances have secured them spots at some of Europe’s most prestigious festivals, such as Tons of Rock, The Great Escape, Summer Breeze Open Air, Tuska, Masters of Rock, Eurosonic, and Download Festival.

The band has received glowing reviews from the international press, and several prominent figures have expressed their admiration. Daniel P. Carter on BBC Radio 1 Rock Show stated, “Jordan from Bring Me The Horizon texted me and was like, ‘what band was that, what was that song called?’ Says a lot!” – and Alex Baker from Kerrang! Radio was quick to predict big success for the boys from Tønsberg: “It’s a huge sound from a band that’s going to be absolutely massive.”

Renowned Finnish violinist, composer and ethnomusicologist TUOMAS ROUNAKARI’s participation in Peaceday 2024 on Youth Island, Denmark, was a significant moment in the event’s celebration of global unity and peace. Once a military base equipped with Hawk missiles, the island has now become a symbol of transformation, hosting youth-led initiatives from across the world. At Peaceday, the International Youth Assembly presented an updated declaration to the UN, which was live-streamed from the island to the Summit for the Future in New York, where global leaders gathered.

Rounakari, along with Anganjoq from Greenland, led spiritual ceremonies and worked with other musicians to compose a peace song, deeply rooted in Greenlandic tradition. This powerful performance, with the audience singing in unison for over 20 minutes, resonated deeply with everyone present. The event culminated in the lighting of a peace fire on a former missile base, symbolically blessed with ashes from indigenous ceremonies worldwide.

TUOMAS ROUNAKARI is an internationally acclaimed violinist, composer and ethnomusicologist from Finland. He is a one-man-band blending violin, vocals and stomping with ankle-bells. In his performance he enters various trance-states. In this album he will also be playing a traditional Khanty instrument called Ning-juh.

Tuomas is inspired by different forms of dialogue; man and nature, the seen and the unseen world, ancient and future. His first solo album Shamanviolin was a result of ethnomusicological studies of the earliest 20th century wax-cylinder recordings from Siberia. These studies have also led to many collaborations with indigenous artists. He is one of the few artists who have actually returned their art to native communities for evaluation and development.

Tuomas Rounakari solo performance has been selected to: World Cultures Festival in Hong Kong (2019), Arctic Arts Summit (2019), Nordiskt Ljus Festival in Sweden (2022), Festspillene Helgeland in Norway (2021), Nuuk Nordik Festival in Greenland, Kaustinen Folk Music Festival in Finland (2018, 2013, 2012), Helsingin Juhlaviikot and many others. He has also played the solo performance in several theaters such as Finnish National Theater in Helsinki, Merlin Szinhas Teater in Budapest, AlfredVeDvore in Prague, Ashurst Hall in Flagstaff USA among others.

Finnish melodic heavy metal band Ikirouta has released a new song “Uusi päivä” (A New Day). This is the 19th single by this Kajaani -based band. On this tight song the band cut to the chase immediately and the first chorus strikes in after half a minute.

Guitarist and composer Teemu Kuosmanen tells about the song: “Uusi päivä is something quite different from our band but it still got the familiar Ikirouta-sound. We wanted to try some new stuff and we used some synth-bass, electric drum fills and mixed in a little bit of disco metal twist. Really big thanks to Janne Tolsa about the soundscape. Especially on the chorus got some traditional Finnish pop touch. And the length – I have never before written a song this short. It’s actually quite a challenge to push all the important elements into a three minute song. We are really excited to see how people will react to this!”

Listen to the single on music services (Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Deezer etc.): https://push.fm/fl/ikirouta-uusipaiva

  • Composition and lyrics by Teemu Kuosmanen
  • Record label: Self released

EchoSoul release their powerful new single, “Sister Suicide,” a gripping track that sheds light on the heavy topics of depression, anxiety, and the battle with suicide. Inspired by deeply personal experiences, lead singer Guy Hinton, who co-wrote the song, reflects on the significance of mental health awareness, emphasizing the importance of recognizing the signs and symptoms in those we love. “‘Sister Suicide’ is a deeply personal song for me and my family. It’s about real struggles that so many people face, and it hit home for us in ways we never expected,” shares Hinton. “This is a tough road, but we can’t look away.”

Listen to “Sister Suicide” on Spotify, here.

EchoSoul’s unique sound has captivated metal fans with its mix of melodic build-ups, complex riffing, and double bass gallops that evoke an orchestral intensity. Fans can expect the same dedication to detail and emotion from “Sister Suicide.” Hinton explains, “None of the songs are short. You’ll hear influences from bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Nevermore, and Primal Fear, but we strive to make our sound our own. Every riff, every note, is well-thought-out.”

“Sister Suicide” is not just another track—it is a statement and a call to action, bringing awareness to the real and growing struggles many face with mental health today. With meaningful lyrics and progressive metal’s signature intricacies, EchoSoul continues to push boundaries while delivering music that matters.
