Helsinki-based doom metal band Denigrate releases their fourth full length album titled To the Goddess Unknown on November 29th 2024via Inverse Records. Now they have released the third single single Under Ether from the upcoming album.

Denigrate’s singer Galzi tells about the song:

“This is the fastest and shortest song on the upcoming album. You could maybe call it radio friendly track. It’s made by our guitarists Sepi and Teemu with their supernaturally ethereal collaboration. We didn’t plan the album to have this kind of musical approach included but mainly just teenage-like enthusiasm and persistence of searching and finding and the joy that comes from that.

Lyrics narrate under the feminine theme of the album. They are about connection and search of meaning. They are about admiration that is longing for response, and the panic of being rejected.”

Listen to the single on music services (Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Tidal etc.): https://push.fm/fl/denigrate-underether

  • Composition: Seppo Nummela & Timo Kallio
  • Lyrics: Timo Kallio

To the Goddess Unknown Tracklist/ISRC-codes:

  1. Crystal Rest – FI3FC2449301
  2. The Ethics of Loss – FI3FC2449302
  3. Under Ether – FI3FC2449303
  4. The Apparition of One – FI3FC2449304
  5. One who holds the balance – FI3FC2449305
  6. Sesame and Lilies – FI3FC2449306
  7. In the Light – FI3FC2449307
  8. Semidiapente – FI3FC2449308

Since Denigrate was found back in ’96, the inevitable vibe of the band was to be dark, melancholy, tormented, observative.

The quantity of albums released is really not the thing in this band. From the first released album in 2003 to the latest 4th one in 2024 called “To The Goddess Unknown”, decades has changed and so has the band.

After no more than three albums released, after big-time local momentum with a finnish cover song, after mandatory hiatus, after some line-up changes, Denigrate 2024 introduces their absolutely greatest masterpiece to date and shows what only truely experienced bunch of members can achieve.

DENIGRATE:
Galzi Kallio: Vocals
Pekka Pyrhönen: Bass
Seppo Nummela: Guitar
Teemu Riekki – Guitar
Tipi Toivanen: Drums

New York City’s resident misfits Couch Slut will return to Europe for their first ever tour of the region after turning heads at Roadburn Festival earlier this year with a blistering performance of the album on the day of its release. The November run includes appearances at Le Guess Who? and Sonic City along with headlining shows in Oslo, Aarhus and Paris.

Couch Slut tour dates:
05 Nov 2024: Oslo, NO @ Vaterland
06 Nov 2024: Aarhus, DK @ Voxhalll
08 Nov 2024: Utrecht, NL @ LE GUESS WHO?
09 Nov 2024L Kortrijk, BE @ Sonic City Festival
10 Nov 2024L Paris, FR @ Glazart

Couch Slut have played a veritable strain of drug-fuelled, incendiary, hardcore noise rock since 2013. Led by Megan Osztrosits‘ infernal roar and subversive, vitriolic lyrics, the quintet return with their fourth full-length opus You Could Do It Tonight (19th April, Brutal Panda Records).

Recorded amidst the filth of NYC with Uniform‘s Ben Greenberg (Drab Majesty, Portrayal of Guilt, Metz), and mastered by Matt Colton at Metropolis Studios in London (Blur, Nick Cave, Thom Yorke), Couch Slut subvert the paradigm and up the ante in every imaginable way across nine vignettes of perverse, true-to-life storytelling layered over the band’s singular, dragged-through-the-mud songcraft. This is a depraved style of noise rock that will scare the living sh*t out of you. Guest appearances from members of fellow NYC compatriots Imperial Triumphant and Pyrrhon scatter across the album, adding layers of cacophony.

Tracklisting:
1. Couch Slut Lewis
2. Ode To Jimbo
3. Wilkinson’s Sword
4. The Donkey
5. Presidential Welcome
6. Energy Crystals For Healing
7. Downhill Racer
8. Laughing and Crying
9. The Weaversville Home For Boys

With ten full years of pain and suffering under their proverbial belt, along with three prior full-length albums My Life As A Woman (2014), Contempt (2017), and Take A Chance On Rock ‘n’ Roll (2020), Couch Slut sound more urgent, threatening, nasty and despondent than ever, and You Could Do It Tonight is the perfect soundtrack for 2024.

Couch Slut are:
Dylan DiLella – guitar
Kevin Hall – bass, shehnai, granular synthesizer
Amy Mills – guitar, flute, trumpet
Theo Nobel – drums and percussion, synthesizer, bells
Megan Osztrosits – vocals

PESTILENT HEX Announce New Album “Sorceries of Sanguine & Shadow”, Out November 29th

Posted by tarjavirmakari on October 11, 2024
Posted in: News. Tagged: PESTILENT HEX. Leave a comment

Building upon the symphonic Black Metal stylings of their masterful 2022 debut “The Ashen Abhorrence“, enigmatic Finnish duo PESTILENT HEX return with second opus, “Sorceries of Sanguine & Shadow“, to herald a new era of malevolent grandeur and melodic aggression.

The work of multi-instrumentalist L. Oathe (DESOLATE SHRINE, CONVOCATION, ORDINANCE) and vocalist/lyricist M. Malignant (CORPSESSED, TYRANNY, PROFETUS), “Sorceries of Sanguine & Shadow” is still primarily inspired by legendary ’90s second wave Black Metal but diverges from the neoclassical and baroque undertones of the debut into more contemporary, complex and exquisitely labyrinthine realms.

Tracklist:

01. Nocturne
02. Sciomancy and Sortilege
03. Through Mirrors Beyond
04. Of Hexcraft and Laws Three-fold
05. A Spectral Voyage
06. Threnody of the Moon Ascendant
07. Sanguine Gnosis

All music for “Sorceries of Sanguine & Shadow” was composed by L. Oathe and M. Malignant between 2022 and 2024. All instruments were recorded and mixed by L. Oathe at The Desolate Dungeon, while all vocals were recorded by M. Malignant at Furnace 504. The album was mastered by Dave Otero (AKHLYS, CATTLE DECAPITATION) at Flatline Audio.

L. Oathe created the cover artwork, with layout design by Maciej Kamuda (BLUT AUS NORD). Logos and frames were crafted by M. Malignant.

PESTILENT HEX offer insight into their upcoming record:

“Where the first album “The Ashen Abhorrence” had more a tightly-knit concept telling one single story, our sophomore album takes a disparate approach having different topics with each song. We are still tying them under a bigger theme, namely: descending into the nightside of being, witchcraft, myths and necromancy. We use varying mediums of blood, shadows, herbal Alchemy and dreams to catch glimpses of the other side. This is the surface level.

The deeper level is reflecting yourself through the metaphors, and studying your own shadow, the subconscious and what goes into creativity and Art. The intention of the moniker “Sorceries of Sanguine & Shadow” is to tie all of these stories and themes together under one title!“

Listen to ‘Sciomancy and Sortilege‘, the first track from the forthcoming album, on DMP‘s YouTube channel or via Bandcamp:

“Sorceries of Sanguine & Shadow” will be released on CD, vinyl – including an exclusive DMP vinyl edition and specially designed merch – and digital on November 29th. Pre-orders are available via the label’s EU, US, and Bandcamp shops, with bundle options available.

PESTILENT HEX – a curse that claimed our souls and plagued our dreams; a sound that still haunts and possesses us…

PESTILENT HEX is a new band hailing from Finland that drinks deep from the well of the second wave Black Metal tradition – balancing a fine line of symphonic elements but still being firmly rooted in Metal, nevertheless retaining high integrity and artistry.

The band consists of two people, perhaps more well-known from the Death and Doom Metal circles, yet Black Metal is something that has flowed in their veins since the mid-nineties and it constitutes a praxis they grew up with.

The idea of this band was born out of the necessity to pay dues to the genre that formed the musicians and their musical sensibilities. But more importantly, from the ambition to craft a vision of their own what this Art should sound like.

“The Ashen Abhorrence” is the band’s first release. It took them five years of arduous labor and maddening inspiration to complete it. It is a concept album musically and lyrically, that dwells into Faustian aspirations, witchcraft, possession, and the realm beyond – ending in harrowing results.

Building upon the symphonic Black Metal stylings of their masterful 2022 debut “The Ashen Abhorrence“, enigmatic Finnish duo PESTILENT HEX return with second opus, “Sorceries of Sanguine & Shadow“, to herald a new era of malevolent grandeur and melodic aggression, in 2024.

The mood is dark to melancholic, but also majestic and epic. Hailing from Rome (Italy), THE FORESHADOWING are something like the musical equivalent of the city they come from. Founded in 2005, the group can look back on a successful and eventful history. Listeners of gothic, doom and dark metal are very familiar with the quartet’s work. THE FORESHADOWING gained popularity in the international scene with four acclaimed albums released between 2007 and 2016: “Days of Nothing” (2007), “Oionos” (2010), “Second World” (2012) and “Seven Heads, Ten Horns” (2016) and through touring with SWALLOW THE SUN, SATURNUS, MARDUK, MOONSPELL, ANTIMATTER and IN THE WOODS.

In 2023, THE FORESHADOWING ended a forced break of several years with the EP “Forsaken Songs” and a European tour with Saturnus and In The Woods. Now, “New Wave Order” is the group’s fifth full length album and their debut on LIFEFORCE RECORDS. The formation from Rome emphasizes its strengths on the album and offers cinematic tracks of dark music that is nevertheless immensely catchy and mood-enhancing.

While listening to “New Wave Order”, you are whisked away into a world full of secrets and allusions. The path is THE FORESHADOWING’s goal, which manifests itself in all-encompassing, organically developed musicality. BODYBUILDER Signs with Wormholedeath for Release of Harrowing EP “There’s No There, There”

Posted by tarjavirmakari on October 11, 2024
Posted in: News. Tagged: BODYBUILDER. Leave a comment

Blackened death metal project Bodybuilder has signed with Wormholedeath for the release of their harrowing EP, “There’s No There, There”. Mark your calendars, for this sonic onslaught is set to pulverize your senses on November 15th, 2024.

Emerging from the shadows of Los Angeles in 2018, Bodybuilder is the singular vision of mastermind Nicholas Capaldi. Weaving a tapestry of despair and dread, Capaldi utilizes a potent arsenal of synthesizers, tortured vocals, and pulverizing drum programming.

“There’s No There, There” signifies a bold new chapter for Bodybuilder. This isn’t your typical black metal fare. Imagine a relentless sonic storm, a relentless torrent of anguish howling its terrifying symphony. Distorted synthesizers paint a bleak yet atmospheric canvas, transporting the listener on a harrowing journey through nightmares escapes, and existential abysses.

Capaldi draws inspiration from the dark visions of literary giants like William Gibson, Cormac McCarthy, Philip K. Dick, and H.P. Lovecraft. The resulting soundscape mirrors their bleak narratives: a descent into a dreamscape that spirals endlessly into a terrifying void.

Tracklist

  1. Separating Twins
  2. Vera’s Moth
  3. Charon
  4. About a Hanging, Pt.2
  5. Somebody, Something, Somewhere
  6. Thalassa
