PARAGON Unleash ‘Battalions’ Video Single from Upcoming Studio Album

On November 8, 2024, Hamburg, Germany-based heavy metal veterans PARAGON will release their much-awaited, new studio album “Metalation” through Massacre Records. Album pre-orders are available at this location: https://lnk.to/metalation

Following the previously-released album opening track “Fighting The Fire”, today, PARAGON present their new video single “Battalions”, one of many hymns on the album featuring galloping guitars by Martin Christian topped with a tasty melody played by Jan Bertram and a chorus which is written to be sung by a big heavy metal crowd now and forever!

“Battalions” is out now on all digital platforms at: https://pa ragon.bfan.link /battalions

According to PARAGON‘s Jan Bünning, their new album “Metalation” was one of the most difficult albums to make, as the band almost broke up in the time between the release of the band’s previous album “Controlled Demolition” and the present day.

Bünning and Martin Christian started working on new song ideas in the winter of 2019 and then the pandemic rocked the world and brought the majority of band activities – ranging from live gigs to rehearsals – to a halt. But still, both continued writing new songs and in the end of a long process, nine songs were ready to be recorded for “Metalation” and the first vocal demos were recorded last year. For this album, PARAGON decided to record the guitars, bass and drums on their own.

Whereas “Controlled Demolition” was a very hard and fast offering, PARAGON weren’t keen to repeat this pattern once again and instead decided for the new album to make it sound a little more melodic and versatile, just like in their old days. “Metalation” was produced with Piet Sielck, who also mixed and mastered the album.

Due to the tensions connected with the pandemic and ockdowns, guitarist Günny left the band in the late summer of 2022 and so did his replacement as well as drummer Sören, who left the band for personal reasons. The remaining band members toyed with the idea to release one final album and to play some farewell shows with Martin on guitar and his son Jason Wöbcke on drums, and then to disband PARAGON. Sometime after Easter 2023, though, Jason joined PARAGON permanently on drums and Martin decided to stay as well.

The band’s chemistry is better than ever, so it’s no surprise that everyone is very satisfied with how the new album turned. PARAGON simply can’t wait for everyone to listen to the new album and they are eager to hit the stages again!

ORANSSI PAZUZU Release Trippy Full Album Visualizer for “Muuntautuja”

Today sees the release of Muuntautuja, the sixth studio album by Finnish psychedelic black metal innovators ORANSSI PAZUZU.

A boa constrictor of slithering, warping, interdimensional cosmic horror, Muuntautuja is in a world of its own, seeping through the speakers like irradiated sand. Ever transmuting, unsettling chords that raise the hairs on the back of your head and then pummel it with nauseating rhythms that both transport and destroy you.

Drawing inspiration from eclectic sources ranging from Death Grips to Portishead, Nine Inch Nails (Downward Spiral era), Beherit and My Bloody Valentine, ORANSSI PAZUZU are a feast for those who dig deep, heavy and strange. With inhuman and biological sound, Muuntautuja is electronically charged, both organic and inorganic in origin.

Muuntautuja transcends genres, embodying a transcendent experience that slimes listeners in its nightmare of space and metamorphosis. Jun-His (vocals & guitars) muses, “For us, this album is like a sculpture made of black electric ooze.“

As of today, Muuntautuja can be listened to in full at any streaming service of your choice,  or purchased in various formats via the link below.

As a bonus feature, ORANSSI PAZUZU have released a trippy full album visualizer to further enhance the immersive experience that is Muuntautuja. Tune in and drop out!

Get ready to dive headfirst into the electrifying world of HELLOWEEN with their new live album “Live At Budokan,” a colossal release that immortalizes their iconic performance at Tokyo‘s legendary Nippon Budokan! Dropping on December 13, 2024 through Reigning Phoenix Music (RPM), this release will be available in a plethora of formats: 2CD-digipak and 3LP vinyl in trifold with the first print run of both coming as “deluxe edition” including embossed cover artwork, as well as Blu-ray, DVD and digital. Each version is meticulously crafted to suit the metal community’s diverse tastes, ensuring every fan can relive the raw, unfiltered energy of HELLOWEEN in their preferred medium. To tide fans over until “Live At Budokan” arrives, the band have launched the first single ‘Best Time (live).’ This electrifying live version of the hit single and most streamed track (more than 11 million streams on Spotify) from HELLOWEEN‘s self-titled reunion album [2021] can be watched below.

Listen here: https://helloween.rpm.link/besttimelivePR

Guitarist Sascha Gerstner comments: “‘Best Time’ captures the energy and the moment when everything fits together perfectly and you leave everything negative behind. For me, this track is an anthem for all those nights when you’re heading towards the future. That’s why it conveys exactly this mood in concert, as if you were living in a single great moment that lasts forever.”

This release celebrates the grand finale of HELLOWEEN‘s epic world tour from 2022 to 2023. Spanning over 30 countries on three continents, the tour was nothing short of a triumph, drawing massive crowds and showcasing the band’s undying appeal, the sold-out concert in Tokyo is the crowning glory of the cycle. Known for their explosive stage presence and high-voltage performances, HELLOWEEN‘s shows are fueled by the unique chemistry among the band members. Triple lead-guitar attacks from Michael Weikath, Kai Hansen, and Sascha Gerstner alternate with goosebump-inducing duets from vocalists Michael Kiske and Andi Deris, occasionally supported by Kai Hansen, the band’s original singer and third voice. He also takes the spectators on a journey back in time with a medley from the band’s early days, returning to the origins of their sound – HELLOWEEN, the godfathers of melodic speed metal.

Choosing the Nippon Budokan for this live recording was no coincidence. A venue rich in musical history, it has hosted countless legendary concerts and is an accolade for every music group that has played there. HELLOWEEN are the first German band ever to record a live album in the Nippon Budokan, and for the members it was a dream come true.

Artwork by Martin Häusler

Lead vocalist Michael Kiske described the show as “surreal, with the electrifying fan energy creating a magical atmosphere.” Bassist Markus Grosskopf spoke of the venue’s profound personal and historical significance, expressing how humbling and inspiring it was to perform in a place that shaped their own musical journeys.

The live recording’s technical brilliance is another highlight. With 29 cameras capturing every nuance, the production team ensured that each moment of the concert is preserved in stunning detail. This attention to detail means the Blu-ray and DVD versions offer an immersive viewing experience, making fans feel like they are right there in the front row.

The setlist of this live album is a treasure trove of surprises, contains the entire 2-hour+ show and offers a fresh experience compared to previous releases like “United Alive” [2019]. This thoughtful song selection honors both the die-hard fans craving something new and the band’s rich musical legacy, showcasing their evolution and expansive repertoire.

This live album is more than just a concert recording; it’s a celebration of HELLOWEEN‘s enduring impact on the metal scene. It promises to bring the magic of an unforgettable performance straight into fans’ homes, offering a piece of music history that embodies the spirit and energy of a legendary band at their peak.

METAL RIOT Sign with Wormholedeath for Release of Debut Album “Birth of Terror”

Posted by tarjavirmakari on October 11, 2024
Posted in: News. Tagged: METAL RIOT. Leave a comment

Finnish heavy metal outfit METAL RIOT has joined forces with Wormholedeath Records to unleash a sonic assault in the form of their debut album, “Birth of Terror”, on a re-release rampage set for November 15th, 2024!

Metal Riot, formed in Akaa, Finland, in 2015 and now based in Tampere, delivers raw and authentic heavy metal infused with traditional metal and punk influences. Founded by vocalist and former guitarist Joonas Myller and bassist Benjamin Sairamo, the band underwent several lineup changes before settling on their current members: Myller, Sairamo, guitarists Mika Takanen & Marcus Johansson, and drummer Joonas Kokko. Now with the plans to make a plethora of Songs not just speed or thrash metal in mind, the band has its pedal-to-the-metal on its way to the all-or-nothing. This lineup brought renewed focus and energy, culminating in the release of their debut album Birth of Terror in 2024, under Wormholedeath Records.

  1. Dreams Die Young
  2. Into the Fire
  3. Eternal Speed Death
  4. War
  5. Echoes in Eternity
  6. Now or Never
  7. Those Who Come at Night
  8. Pieces of the Past

A Conceptual Masterpiece

“Birth of Terror” is not just an album; it’s an auditory and visual experience. The songs dive into myriad themes, from horror to real-life reflections, each track a journey into the band’s psyche. The cover art, conceptualized with the vision of a strong female protagonist, is a striking departure from the typical metal album imagery of zombies and monsters. Finnish artist Pauli Maronen was brought on board to bring this powerful character to life, embodying the band’s desire to break the mold and deliver something unique.

Overcoming the Odds

The path to Birth of Terror has been anything but straightforward. What began with fifteen songs had to be entirely reimagined due to lineup changes. Recording the album proved to be a test of endurance, with suboptimal conditions for drums and vocals, leaving only the guitars and bass to be recorded in a proper studio setting. Despite these hurdles, METAL RIOT has emerged stronger, with an album that captures their essence and energy.

A Stand Against Modern Trends

In a metal scene often criticized for its repetitiveness and the overuse of downtuned guitars, METAL RIOT stands firm in their commitment to a classic heavy metal sound. Rejecting trends that compromise the genre’s heaviness, the band draws inspiration from a wide array of sources—other music, personal emotions, nature, and the unexpected moments that life offers.

METAL RIOT is ready to break down walls! Get a taste of their unbridled fury with the electrifying video for “Eternal Speed Death”:

Vintage-Futurism Storyteller KELLY DECO Returns with New Lyric Video + Single ‘Get Out’ from Forthcoming Archive Release “Venus”

Posted by tarjavirmakari on October 11, 2024

Steeped in the magic and mystery of an artist’s life in the Hollywood movie machinery, vintage-futurism storyteller Kelly Deco moves through space and time with imaginary twists on figures we sometimes see in the sky and know in our hearts. Deco’s last album Constellation was produced by legendary and Grammy award winning music producer Val Garay (Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor, Kim Carnes, etc.) and released through Deko Entertainment. The album had eleven brand new songs with standout tracks “Automat Girl”, “David Bowie’s Brain”, and “Creature Dreams.”

The indefinite progression of time from past to present to the future, joins together the two Kelly Deco albums, Constellation with other worldly focus on time travel, lore, and space exploration, and Venus, with all the fiery turmoil as a stark wake up call to where we may end up when the past, the future, and political climates repeat themselves. Kelly Deco expands on his vintage futurism galactic storytelling theme, with select recordings capturing the recurrent culture of political unrest.

An archive of Kelly Deco’s lifelong song writing adventures, the music of Kelly Deco Venus speaks truth of the present world, each song expressing words of reality in its own Kelly Deco artistic way, as he explains, “Venus has bright star enigma, Roman Goddess of Love, and Tranquil Beauty, yet a planet of volatile heat and atmospheric turbulence, spinning clockwise unlike any other, Venus holds life lessons for humanity, and her mystery will lead us all.”

Kelly Deco Venus tells a story of life, love, galactic exploration and political climate, which are currently relevant as a continuation of Kelly Deco’s vintage futurism theme. Artwork was provided again by futuristic graphic artist Ioannis (Alan Parsons Project, Uriah Heep, Fates Warning, etc…). With Venus you can “Take a look at what’s going down”; with “Get Out”, take your “Places” in the world, or check for “No Reality”, and “Armageddon” to get started while searching for the “American Dream.”

RETROMORPHOSIS Sign with Season of Mist, Debut Album Coming in 2025

Posted by tarjavirmakari on October 11, 2024
Posted in: News. Tagged: RETROMORPHOSIS. Leave a comment

Death metal is a punishing genre, especially when it’s of the extremely technical variety. But there’s a beauty that arises when the sworn members of its sacred crypt spring back to life as a new nocturnal creation.

Retromorphosis crawls out from the grave of one of the most influential bands in modern metal. The lineup features two founding members of revered Swedish technical death metal deviants Spawn of Possession. Jonas Bryssling (guitar) and Dennis Röndum (vocals) are joined by their old bandmates Erlend Caspersen (bass) and Christian Muenzner (guitar), who’s also a former member of Obscura and Necrophagist. All four members played together on Spawn of Possession’s Incurso, which is widely considered one of the most influential albums in modern death metal.

These familiar faces are rounded out by drummer KC Howard. Howard also drums for Odious Mortem and was a long-time member of Decrepit Birth.

“We are very proud to announce our signing to Season of Mist!” Bryssling says on behalf of the band. “Retromorphosis are by no means spring lambs to the scene. We have past and current members of Spawn of Possession, Obscura, Necrophagist, Decrepit Birth and Odious Mortem, plus Igorr, Abhorrent and Cruelty Exalted, to name a few others. With that said, this is not a random all-star project. We’re a fully fleshed-out band with plenty of ideas for the future. It feels great to know that a well-respected label like Season of Mist will help us share our music with the world”.

Retromorphosis will release their debut album sometime next year.

Listen to a teaser from the album:

Lineup
Jonas Bryssling (Spawn of Possession) – Guitars
Dennis Röndum (Spawn of Possession) – Vocals
Christian Muenzner (Spawn of Possession, ex-Obscura and Necrophagist) – Guitars
Erlend Caspersen (Spawn of Possession, The Allseeing I, Abhorrent) – Bass
KC Howard (Odius Mortem, ex-Decrepit Birth)- Drums

Retromorphosis became a growing seed after Spawn of Possession was officially buried in 2017. Guitarist and main songwriter Jonas Bryssling wanted to add more old school elements while incorporating more of his own style into the Swedish band’s widely influential technical death metal.

He began writing new music and after careful consideration, enlisted several of his previous bandmates for his new venture: vocalist Dennis Röndum, guitarist Christian Muenzner, bassist Erlend Caspersen and drummer KC Howard.

The band enlisted Sweden’s Magnus Sedenberg to produce their debut, who was also behind the boards for Spawn of Possession’s Cabinet.

Expect more brutality and atmospherics when Retromorphosis release their first album in 2025.
