In the shadows where desolation meets defiance, GAEREA beckons the daring, the pilgrims of darkness, to traverse realms marked by haunting beauty and devastating intensity. Celebrate the descent with Coma, as Gaerea announces their 2025 European tour—a symphony of anguish and transcendence.

In despair and isolation, GAEREA forged Coma, their fourth full-length alchemy of sound. Known for transcending the confines of traditional black metal, the masked visionaries have unveiled an opus that ripples with the agony of existence and the fleeting beauty within ruins. Crafted under the adept hand of Miguel Tereso at Demigod Studios, Coma promises an unyielding venture into the urban abyss.

Tracks like World Ablaze and Hope Shatters have already enticed the faithful with their blend of fiery tremolos and perilous melodies. These soundscapes capture the essence of GAEREA’s transformative power, offering sanctuary to those who find solace in desolation.

Coma is out October 25 on Season of Mist.
Pre-order & Pre-save: https://orcd.co/gaereacoma

As the final echoes of Coma resonate, GAEREA will carry this symphony of void across Europe to incite catharsis amongst the yearning masses. Mark these dates in blood:

17 Apr: Aalborg, DK @ 1000Fryd

Behind black shrouds of obscurity and desolation, the performers of GAEREA deliver their odes in cascading maelstroms of aggression and beauty. Emerging from the age of pandemic to whatever awaits humanity next, the dark horde remains on the frontlines of the next generation of extreme metal. With an EP and three albums to their name, Gaerea has rapidly distinguished themselves from the thousands of bands toiling away in the underground. Brewing their cauldron of sound from a recipe of pounding black-metal blast mixed with a touch of harrowed, reflective longing, many devotees of the darkened arts have flocked to their banner. With the emergence of third full-length album Mirage, those numbers certainly grew.

Gaerea met a challenge when releasing their second album during the pandemic, the aptly titled Limbo, to excellent world reception. In the meantime, they found the total suspension of interactive life as it was previously known to be the perfect breeding ground for further creation and making.

Sizzling with ambition from day one, Gaerea may present one unique face to their audience, masked and enshrouded, but the truth is they have not remained changeless.

As their previous album name Mirage suggests, the inability to trust what our senses are telling us could be construed as one of the album’s central themes. Rather than constrict their art to mythological references or anti-religious tropes, Gaerea instead plumb the depths of the human experiences of isolation and suffering.

Just two years since Mirage was released, Gaerea is here, erupting with intensity, casting forth black ashes over the world yet again.

Their latest release, Coma, has finally surfaced, marking a pivotal shift. From this point forward, everything changes. It’s time for Gaerea to bridge the gap between underground metal and the elevated realm they’ve attained. With Coma, Gaerea emerges from the underground scene, ascending towards a permanently lasting position at the head of the table.

An emotional gateway to a dark black metal scene, a guide to salvation, pain, despair and letting go. Moving up, into the blackness that is above. Gaerea is the answer, the only answer.

Within ‘Coma’s’ ten tracks lies an individual narrative, each with its own tale to unveil. Collectively, they blend nuances of aggression, tranquility, solitude, and fervor.

Boasting a superior production that threads the needle between caustic and clarity, Gaerea yet again admit their loyalty to producer Miguel Tereso of Demigod Recordings for the production of Coma. Together they created the birth of ‘Coma’, the new era for metal mankind. Distinguishing themselves ever more so, the Vortex handpicked their artist Nathan Lorenzana with a clear assignment to create their mesmerizing cover artwork. Months of hand drawing the image with a ballpen lead to this masterpiece which dipped his name into ‘Coma’.

The beauty of Gaerea lies in the directness and simplicity found within their florid tapestry of extremity and aggression. Whether it is in the less-polished aural dynamite of Mirage, or in the lustrous textures of Coma, Gaerea is building a mighty edifice of metal. With talons dipped in the inky blood of black metal and scraped across the flesh of human suffering, Gaerea is leading a charge into the future of darkness, and all those who find beauty and power in the dark side of existence would do well to take heed.

ASSASSIN Unleash Video for Title Track of Upcoming EP “Skullblast”

To delight longtime fans and new listeners, German-based thrash metal act ASSASSIN presents their first EP in the band’s history! “Skullblast” will be coming out on November 1, 2024 through Massacre Records. Available as Digipak, Ltd. Vinyl and Digital format, the pre-sale has now started at https://lnk.to/skullblast

For the first time ever, all band members collaborated on the five songs featured on “Skullblast”, which contributed to a very creative and positive workflow. With pride and joy, the band will now unleash an EP of hard-hitting thrash metal songs that are bursting with heaviness and groove, hook lines with a high recognition value – brutal and groovy at the same time, but also rich in variety – while staying true to the band’s style. Also new musical elements, such as gang shouts or longer solos, have found their way onto the EP which captivates with a straightforward sound. The hint “This record was made to be played at maximum volume” on the EP’s artwork is meant to be no joke…

But give ear, a video clip to the EP title track (out now on all digital services at https://assassin.bfan.link/skullblast) is premiering here:

The band comments about the song: “The title track simply thrashes the listener away 80’s style and you can hear Steve, who joined the band a while ago, for the first time over three parts in the solo lick and extended solo. The bass and drums complement the song in terms of heaviness and structure, and in one part of the solo you can only hear drums accompanying the guitar solo. With this element, ASSASSIN bring the joy of playing and lightness to the listener, and you can see how small changes in a song can give the listener something new and exciting.

The vocals are powerful, and the chorus is catchy, so that all fans will surely be swept away by the band at future live shows. Lyrically, it’s about a dystopian war scene and this part of the second verse speaks for itself: “…rolling terror strikes at midnight, machine gun fire sound”.”

For the first time, the band worked with Lucky Bob Studios and Jean Bormann (Rage) for the recordings. The enjoyable and inspiring atmosphere in the studio contributed to the fact that the songs were developed further at one point or another, while adding further punch to them. In terms of heaviness, the mastering by Manu Cohnen (Parabol Audio) added even more intensity to the EP. Also, Patrick Pagliaro contributed guest vocals to the songs “Blood For Blood” and “Cut Your (Own) Throat”. The idea for the cover art was born during the songwriting process for the title track “Skullblast” and was beautifully executed by Karim König and Plamen.

“Skullblast” Track Listing:

  1. Blood For Blood
  2. Skullblast
  3. In And Out By The Tide
  4. Cut Your (Own) Throat
  5. The Green Manalishi (With the Two Prong Crown)

ANCIENT CURSE‘s long-awaited new album will be released on October 24, 2024.
To fuel the anticipation, the prog power metallers are releasing the title track of the new album. No question: DIMENSION 5 has what it takes to be a new masterpiece for the northern Germans!

Pre-sales already started!  The album will be available here as CD and gatefold cover double LP
http://ancientcurse.epr.rocks/
– digital:   save-it.cc/epr/dimension-5 and Spotify

Tracklist:
1. Forevermore
2. Ave Maria
3. Isolation
4. Dimension 5

The North Germans have been shining with convincing progressive power metal for almost 40 years. With the premise of “breaking new ground” (literally), the band achieved cult status in Cuba in the mid-nineties and were the first western band since the Beatles to actually tour there with their No.1 hit! Even though the band went noticeably quiet for a while, the new album – their second since 2020 – is even more impressive and multi-layered than its predecessor.
The professional standard also applies to the live performance: whether headlining or supporting (Brainstorm, Rage, Victory, Rough Silk, Tankard and many more), Ancient Curse have always managed to captivate the audience with their energetic live show.

Line-up:
Pepe Pierez – Guitars/Vocals
Gunnar Erxleben – Guitars
Matthias Schröder – Drums
Thorsten Penz – Bass

XANDRIA Announce New EP “Universal Tales”, Out November 22nd

German symphonic metal icons XANDRIA are about to chart new paths with their epic upcoming nine-track EP, Universal Tales, out on November 22, 2024 via Napalm Records! This EP follows the success of their latest top 10 charting album (German charts), The Wonders Still Awaiting (2023), which introduced an impressive new line up featuring the fantastic Ambre Vourvahis, who stuns audiences with her vocal talent that blends elements of rock grit, operatic highs and even growls.

This fresh sounding masterpiece highlights XANDRIA‘s reinvention by elevating their trademarks to a new level, setting the bar for modern symphonic metal while presenting four brand new majestic songs that showcase the band’s refined versatility and impressive intensity.

Today, XANDRIA unveils the new offering of the upcoming EP, “No Time to Live Forever”, together with a visually stunning official music video. Driving drums and fast-paced riffs underscore the dramatic lyrics of the apparent loss of reason in the world and the rise of chaos, while the five-piece aligns with their signature sound of impressive orchestral interludes and the majestic operatic highs of vocalist Ambre.

XANDRIA on the new single “No Time To Live Forever”:
“You already know ‘Universal’ from our upcoming EP, and after receiving such overwhelmingly positive feedback from you, it is now time for ‘No Time To Live Forever’. If you loved the bombastic choirs and operatic vocals in ‘Universal’, you are in for a treat with this one… prepare for a ride!”

Each of the songs highlight a different facet of XANDRIA’s musical range, alongside a new recording and beautifully re-arranged version of the title track from their recent album, The Wonders Still Awaiting. From bombastic film score atmospheres, choir-and-orchestra-driven anthems to real Celtic atmospheres and instruments like fiddle and whistles, the songs blend both classic and modern metal influences. Universal Tales offers a wealth of discoveries, while singer Ambre Vourhavis explores new heights and depths in her voice, making her even stronger than on the last album.

The former standalone single “Universal”, alongside an official music video, is a statement in support of a free, open, and diverse society, standing against authoritarianism and religious fundamentalism. It is dedicated to Jina Mahsa Amini and all those fighting for freedom. “Live the Tale” focuses on the apparent loss of reason in the world, showcasing that despite dark clouds, humankind could head in a positive direction as there is so much yet undiscovered and so much potential in mankind to live the tale of its imagination. On “200 Years”, XANDRIA fully embraces their Celtic roots like never before and explores the realms of the well-known book and TV series “Outlander”. Accented by renowned violinist Ally Storch (Subway To Sally), mesmerizing violin merges with resolute drums and with the blockbuster-like atmosphere, immediately transporting fans to distant realms, fighting for a free and fair world.

The Universal Tales EP concludes with orchestral versions of the four new tracks and will be released just before the band embarks on worldwide tours with genre peers Sirenia and Delain in the fall of 2024 and spring of 2025. While Marco Heubaum once again oversaw the recordings as the producer, Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Arch Enemy, Evergrey) handled the mixing and mastering.

XANDRIA on the new EP:
“This EP is a big ‘Thank you!!’ to all our fans who welcomed us back in such an amazing and heartwarming way last year. The energy and connection we felt during our live shows with you inspired us to quickly write new songs, and we couldn’t wait to share them with you.

Each of the new songs shows a different side of us, so there’s a lot to discover on this EP – and we can’t wait to play these new songs live for you! We’ll see you all at our shows in Europe this November and in North America next March!”

SUPER MONSTER PARTY Release New Single ‘Blue Hurricane’ + Announce New Album

Posted by tarjavirmakari on October 2, 2024
Posted in: News. Tagged: SUPER MONSTER PARTY. Leave a comment

SUPER MONSTER PARTY is a band for all video game nerds, jump’n’run enthusiasts, metalheads, 90s kids, weirdos, and everyone in between – a metal band that’s all about video games, singing from the heroes or villains introspective point of view. And: They also have their own, free-to-play, old school nostalgia inspired 2D jump’n’run game – ‘Permadeath’ – with a soundtrack consisting of the instrumentals of their own powerful tracks.

Long story short: SUPER MONSTER PARTY’s music sounds like what your dearest classic video games would sound like if they’d grown up with you during the last decades, while the lyrics take you on a captivating journey into the mind of your favorite gaming protagonists, good guys and bad guys. The band’s music as well as their game transport the recipient into the world of Permadeath, a colorful blend of classic 16-bit pixelated video game world replicas, which you as “The Hero/Champion” have to conquer, while the soundtrack ties the whole experience together and sucks you into SUPER MONSTER PARTY’s unique universe.

Rocking together since 2020, SUPER MONSTER PARTY have already gathered a lot of XP, having a bunch of achievements under their belt, such as four released albums: Permadeath (2020), SideQuest (2021), Game Genie (2023), and Up, Up, Down, Die (2023). The Band is the concept of Singer/Songwriter Rei Sega, and features notable members Emilio Martinez (Yngwie Malmsteen) on bass, Fern Lemus (Lions at the Gate) on the drums, Andy Alvarez (Irras One) on rhythm guitar, and Oleh Andrievsky as lead guitarist. Their intense, melodic, catchy, and heavy sound shows influences of The Misfits, Rhapsody, Slipknot, NOFX, and Van Halen. The variety of different influences and genres, worshiped by the band, means that they are able to find the right metal sound for all game themes – each video game universe is authentically set to music, while the skills of the masterful musical chameleon that is SUPER MONSTER PARTY cannot be  pinned down to one genre. No two songs sound the same, but one thing is for sure – they all rock hard.

Get ready to reach the next level and stay tuned for more as SUPER MONSTER PARTY will be releasing their new album Rage Quit on November 11. On their upcoming album, the US-based band is telling an immersive story which will allow us to dive even deeper into the world of Permadeath. With narrational interludes between every track, they are creating a bond between the most beloved video games of their childhood and their music, providing a mesmerizing adventurous experience for the listeners. Interesting fun facts: The new album will feature Ty Christian aka Fang VonWrathenstein (Lords of the Trident) as guest vocalist on One Wing Angel, as well as Denver Cooper (Vicious Rumors) guitar skills on a solo for This Is Doom, and Hugo Lee as guest sax on Dance Dance Revolution.

Tracklist for Rage Quit

  24. One Winged Angel (Featuring Ty Christian)
  25. Game Over (Finale)

SUPER MONSTER PARTY are dropping their new video single Blue Hurricane just in time for Sonic the Hedgehog’s 33rd birthday – as a tribute to the speedy blue spiny mammal. The soundtrack of the beloved jump’n’run game ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ undoubtedly has a special place in a lot of gamer hearts but Blue Hurricane serves as an outstanding example of what the game could sound like when fully leaning into the little hedgehog’s fierce badassness. How much damage per second can SUPER MONSTER PARTY do? Lead guitarist Oleh Andrievsky has certainly trained his fine motor skills to a level of perfection, contributing his genius long distance from the Ukraine. His lively turbo guitar riffs resemble the fast-paced gameplay of Sonic and the lyrics of Blue Hurricane take you back to those moments in your childhood when you had to stay home sick and would just play video games all day and diving into these little pixelated dimensions made everything suck a little bit less. Except of course when you encountered the evil scientist Dr. Robotnik and were faced with the responsibility of preventing the Eggman from taking over the world. Whatever you’re doing while hearing Blue Hurricane – you will fondly see the tree tops of Green Hill as well as the Final Zone reappearing before your mind’s eye. And: This track will surely light your ass on fire and push you to finally achieve that super hard Sonic speedrun you have been fantasizing about since your childhood, instead of rage quitting the game for the 666th time.
Blue Hurricane is a critical hit that will surely snatch the high score of gamer hearts. There is no doubt that by the beginning of this fall every SUPER MONSTER PARTY fan will know the game plan: “and together the whole world will sing – GO SONIC GO!”

Blue Hurricane is out now, available here: https://links.supermonsterparty.com/emzwxpr

SUPER MONSTER PARTY really go all the way to deliver delicious easter eggs to their fans: a co-op with martial arts icon Daniel Pesina and fellow Mortal Kombat actor Anthony Marquez for the music video of Test Your Might or providing guest appearances by Angry Video Game Nerd James Rolfe and Glenn Fricker in This Is Doom!. Every one of this band’s music videos offers a special little nerdy treat, while serving as homages to the retro games they address. SUPER MONSTER PARTY’s music videos are something you don’t wanna miss!
