Legendary Christian metal pioneers STRYPER return with a commanding new chapter in their storied career, their 18th studio album: ‘Throne Of Thorns,’ set for release on September 25th via Frontiers Music Srl. Decades into their journey, STRYPER continue to reaffirm their status as one of the most influential and enduring bands in classic metal, seamlessly blending their signature message with a sound that remains as powerful and relevant as ever.

About ‘Throne of Thorns,’ Drummer Robert Sweet says:

“Soon our new Stryper record will be out, and can you believe it? It’s album number 18! I really believe you’re all going to love it. Michael worked incredibly hard writing these songs and bringing everything together. Oz, Perry, and I also worked hard to make this, what I feel is our best record yet. I’m confident that once you hear it, you’ll agree. Thank you all for your incredible loyalty and for continuing to support what we do.”

To celebrate the announcement, the band shares the title track from the upcoming album, alongside an official music video, available below.

On the title track, Michael Sweet comments:

“‘Throne of Thorns’ is a powerful message. Christ is on the throne, and we are redeemed because of the crown of thorns that He endured. This song is a perfect representation of our 43 years and who we were, and who we are. Heavy yet melodic, classic yet modern, and 100% Stryper!”

‘Throne of Thorns’ showcases the band at the height of their creative powers, delivering a masterclass in songwriting and musicianship. The album is packed with grand, meticulously crafted arrangements, where thunderous rhythms, soaring guitar harmonies, and anthemic choruses come together in a style that is unmistakably STRYPER. Each track is infused with both intensity and melody, capturing the essence of classic metal while pushing their sound forward with renewed energy and purpose.

At the forefront stands the unmistakable voice of Michael Sweet, whose passionate, powerful, and instantly recognizable delivery continues to define the band’s identity. His vocal performance on ‘Throne of Thorns’ is nothing short of extraordinary, effortlessly moving between soaring highs and emotive depth, adding a timeless quality to every song.

Perry Richardson says:

“The best music doesn’t come from comfort. It comes from living, struggling, growing, and refusing to quit. I hope these songs find you exactly when you need them.”

With ‘Throne Of Thorns,’ STRYPER not only honors their legacy but expands upon it, offering an album that will resonate with longtime fans and newcomers alike. It’s a bold, inspired statement from a band that refuses to stand still—proof that true metal greatness only grows stronger with time.

Guitarist Oz Fox concludes:

“I’m really happy with the final outcome of this record and of the heart that went into it. Michael continues to pour everything he has into the music and the message; Robertbrings the power and energy that has always been the pulse of STRYPER; Perry’s musicianship, vocal talents, and dedication are second to none, and I’m grateful to be on this journey with all of them.”

OUTSHINE Return with Desolate Isolation in New ‘Emptiness Inside’ Music Video

The visual architecture of Swedish dark alternative metal has reached a cinematic milestone with the premiere of the new music video for “Emptiness Inside” by Gothenburg veterans Outshine. Directed by the acclaimed visionary Kenny Boufadene at Studio Meltdown in Uddebo, Sweden, the video serves as a monumental turning point in the band’s narrative legacy. This release marks the third installment in an interconnected four-part visual saga, expanding upon the dark, prophetic themes established in their previous singles. Boufadene, renowned for his exceptional visual work with prominent rock and metal acts like Ice Age, Manimal, and We Are The Castalyst, brings a bleak yet striking aesthetic to life, perfectly matching the band’s signature melancholic atmosphere. Truthsayer, was recently released on June 26, 2026 via rock and metal record label Eclipse Records.

The narrative thrust of the video follows the ongoing journey of Reverend Boman, an enigmatic character who first emerged during the band’s previous album cycle. As a direct continuation of the storylines established in the promotional clips for the singles Enough and You Are Not Alone, the plot serves as an allegory for modern societal fractures. The storyline delves deeply into the profound isolation and psychological toll experienced by ordinary individuals when global forces employ divide-and-conquer tactics. According to founding vocalist Jimmy Boman, the visual representation captures the precise moment where the common man balances on the brink of absolute madness. Ultimately, the video transforms the viewer from a passive observer into an active participant in the band’s message of global equity. By the climax of the futuristic timeline, the narrative makes it clear that the awakening cannot be stopped, inviting the audience to join the fold. Outshine demonstrates that strength lies purely in numbers, suggesting that everyone who stands against the current societal division is actively becoming a “Truthsayer”.

Coverart Credit: Jimmy Boman

The brilliant new dark alternative metal album from Outshine titled Truthsayer has something for every rock and metal fan, including rich guitar work, haunting keys, a powerful back beat, and mesmerizing vocals. Musically, the feel is wonderfully diverse, with parts and parcels working together to craft a vision both dark and distinct, yet hopeful. The keys are eerie and foreboding, leading us down shadowed corridors with hypnotic vocal harmonies that often split into octaves, as if to show contrasting views of the world existing atop each other like fog on cobblestone and the sun on the sea. Lyrically, the band blasts the elite, biased media and totalitarianism, depicting a world distorted with poison as common people are kept in a metaphorical asylum of sorts, locked in their rooms, screaming silently from behind sound-proofed glass. It puts us slightly off balance, as these messages of doom are superimposed on music with such a chunk and satisfying groove vibe. In the end, the band tells us that shadows recede. Hell turns to hope. Night ends with dawn, and the ashes of a scorched earth can produce an awesome rising phoenix. This band is for real, and Truthsayer is nothing less than a magnificent megaphone. Altogether, the album contains nine tracks, including standouts like “Enough” “You Are Not Alone,” and “Emptiness Inside.” The album artwork, created by Jimmy Boman, mirrors the album’s dark, yet hopeful mood. The album was recently released on June 26, 2026 via Eclipse Records.

Romanian folkcore metal innovators Dirty Shirt proudly announce the release of their new album “Dirty Thirty (The Best Of),” arriving June 26th, 2026, on digital platforms, limited double‑CD digipak, and vinyl. The career‑spanning collection celebrates more than 30 years of one of Eastern Europe’s most distinctive and genre‑defying metal bands.

Featuring 30 tracks that chart Dirty Shirt’s evolution from their earliest recordings to their most recent material, and two new singles, “FOMO” and “Büntető” from the band’s upcoming studio album.

The anthology draws from every era of the band’s discography, including:

  • Very Dirty (2000) – 1 track (newly re‑recorded version from Pandemic Special)
  • Same Shirt Different Day (2010) – 2 tracks
  • Freak Show (2013) – 4 tracks + orchestral “Away”
  • Dirtylicious (2015) – 7 tracks
  • Letchology (2019) – 7 tracks
  • Get Your Dose Now & Pandemic Special (2022) – 7 tracks

Several early‑era songs have been newly remastered by longtime sound engineer Adrian “Bila” Urițescu. At the same time, the album’s artwork, created by internationally acclaimed artist Costin Chioreanu, continues a creative partnership now spanning more than 13 years. The project was partially funded through a successful 2025 crowdfunding campaign and features contributions from over 40 musicians.

Keyboardist/guitarist Mihai Tivadar reflects on the milestone:

“Dirty Shirt became much more than a band. It became a family… This album is a celebration of everyone who has been part of these thirty years.”

This marked the band’s third appearance at Romania’s premier metal festival, and their first time as co‑headliners, performing on a main stage during a prime‑time slot before 10,000+ fans. The closing‑night lineup also featured Static‑X and Sepultura, with a standout moment occurring when drummer Sergio Ponti joined Sepultura on stage for a special performance of “Kaiowas.”

The 2025 edition was especially emotional, serving as the final Rockstadt Extreme Fest held in Râșnov, the festival’s home for more than a decade. Dirty Shirt’s full set captures both a defining moment in their career and the atmosphere of a festival that has become a landmark of the European metal scene.

HAWKESTREL & KEITH EMERSON Take the Black Dog for a Run

Posted by tarjavirmakari on July 1, 2026
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: HAWKESTREL, Keith Emerson. Leave a comment

Taken from Led Zeppelin’s epochal fourth album, and a Billboard Top 15 hit in 1971, “Black Dog” is one of the foundation stones of 70s metal, a classic Jimmy Page riff that flagellates the rhythm section, while Robert Plant’s vocal shakes and shimmies on its own course entirely.

Yet “Black Dog” is also a song that lends itself to some utterly unexpected covers, from as far afield as Debbie Harry and jazz master Ido Kurdhi… not to mention Keith Emerson, whose contribution to a Zeppelin tribute back in 2008 transformed it into an orchestrated slice of piano-whipped madness, at least until vocals and band kicked in.

But the late king of the keys also released an instrumental version of the same song as a digital single in 2012, and when Hawkestrel mainstay Alan Davey (Hawkwind, Gunslinger, Ace of Spades) was considering his own version of the track, for the upcoming Cover Ya Tracks album, it was that performance that he looked towards.

Alan says, “When Brian [CEO of Cleopatra Records] asked if I’d like Keith Emerson’s organ and synths parts for Black Dog to do my own version, I said ‘Oh yeah that’ll be a real challenge,’ and boy it was!”

Emerson’s piano does not dominate the performance – there’s far too much going on elsewhere in the mix for anyone to stand out… anyone, that is, beyond Psychedelic Warlords singer Zoie Green, her impassioned vocal effortlessly recapturing the energies of Plant’s original recording, but taking them in a wholly new direction.

Alan continues, “Getting Zoie to sing it was the right choice! It’s an interesting take on a classic complex piece of music!”

It certainly is!  A breathtaking performance, multi-instrumentalist Davey weaves a solid web of sound around “Black Dog”’s native stomp.  But it’s also just one of 11 vivacious visitations to be found on Cover Ya Tracks.

SINGLE: https://orcd.co/hawkestrel_blackdog

Davey’s love of old Hawkwind shines through, of course – “Brainstorm,” “Hall Of The Mountain Grill” and “Children Of The Sun” all spin out of that band’s past with a solidly futuristic sheen.  And the team, which also includes contributions from fellow Hawkwind vets Nik Turner, Huw Lloyd Langton, Del Dettmar, Simon House and Robert Calvert keep it in the family with Calvert’s “The Greenfly and the Rose,” featuring vocals from author and poet Michael Moorcock – himself as much as part of the Hawkwind legend as any of the official band members.

And let’s not forget Ginger Baker, who enjoyed his own stint on the Hawkwind bus back in the early 1980s, and who can be heard here helping Hawkestrel reprise Cream‘s “Sunshine Of Your Love.”

Elsewhere, Uriah Heep’s “Rainbow Demon” draws magnificent guitar from former Rolling Stone Mick Taylor, Michael Moorcock reappears across “Starcruiser” and “The Cairene Purse,” and the whole package wraps up with a glorious (and gloriously unexpected) take on “Good Vibrations.”

The Beach Boys in Space?  Why not?

Cover Ya Tracks is released on CD, purple marble vinyl and cassette on July 10.

MOONSPELL Release Lyric Video for ‘The Great Wolf in the Sky’ from Upcoming Album

Just days before the release of their critically acclaimed new studio album Far From God, Portuguese gothic metal icons MOONSPELL have unveiled a lyric video for their latest single, “The Great Wolf in the Sky”. The track showcases the band’s unmistakable blend of dark atmospheres, soaring melodies and emotional intensity, offering another compelling glimpse into what promises to be one of the band’s most celebrated records to date.

Far From God will be released this Friday, July 3, via Napalm Records. To pre-order your copy, visit: http://lnk.to/Moonspell-FarFromGod

With “The Great Wolf in the Sky”, MOONSPELL unveil a sweeping Gothic anthem driven by expansive keys, harmonized guitars, striking vocals and a guest appearance by Alicia Nuhro on strings. The charismatic frontman Fernando Ribeiro reveals:

“It’s a shameless ode to the great gig in the sky and also a return for us to a theme that is very dear to us: wolves. This is one of my favourite songs ever for Moonspell, the keyboards sound like a melancholic wolf howling throughout the progress of the song into its epic chorus, that I feel so liberating, like if one took flight to the stars and met that wolf up there. It’s one of the first songs that was written for this album and it has been gently nurtured for over 3 years or so. It tells the story of Moonspell, of the wolves who crossed our paths and went away from the pack, due to life circumstances of the inevitability of death. It bridges the many times of Moonspell, past, present and future and it has the shape of a new anthem that we do hope our fans embrace. It’s also dedicated to a fan and a friend who, unfortunately, passed away before he could hear our new album.”

Born out of five years of creative searching, doubt and ultimate rediscovery, their forthcoming album marks a powerful return for the band. Far from playing it safe, MOONSPELL deliver a work that feels like a rebirth: darker, sharper and emotionally unfiltered. Rather than bending to modern trends, the band double down on identity and substance, presenting a bold and beautiful statement of Gothic Metal in its purest essence: dark, romantic, dramatic and unapologetically heavy.

Thematically, Far From God moves through Baudelairian love, existential guilt and redemption, Christlike resurrections and the quiet nobility of creatures of the night. Vampires, werewolves and sacred symbolism are not escapism here, but vehicles for genuine dark emotion: solemn, romantic and unfiltered. The album rejects artificial gloss in favour of fantasy grounded in sincerity, rediscovering the heart of Gothic Metal in its most authentic form.

Speaking about the inspiration behind Far From God, Ribeiro explains: “The title resonates how we have all strayed from our path into the direction of the fool’s gold instead of genuine dark feelings and their deep and solemn transmission into the light via music and lyrics and art. I won’t dare to say it’s the best album we ever did. I’m too old, too wise and too scarred by people not noticing the talent that Moonspell has to conjure the melodies of dark with elegance and wit. I can only say that we fell in love again with the prospect of our new music and that it took us more than 5 years to travel this deep into ourselves, just to surface before your eyes with our new album. We were not only inspired, we were touched by a muse and it was her who brought us here, to this musical redemption, to this artful statement of true gothic metal. Moonspell has been our only true influence for this one.”

[Artwork painted by Eliran Kantor]

Far from God – produced with Jaime Gomez Arellano (Paradise Lost, Sólstafir, Ghost among many others) – shines like a black diamond, luminous yet shadowed in texture and colour, both musically and sonically. It reconnects with the darker spirit of MOONSPELL’s classic era while sounding powerful and contemporary. Far From God is not nostalgia; it is a statement. A Gothic Metal hallelujah. MOONSPELL’s 21st century Irreligious. It’s not only a powerful reminder that MOONSPELL remain a defining force in the genre they helped shape, but an album that will truly save Gothic Metal from boredom and predictability.

UNTITLED WITH DRUMS Release New Single ‘Shame’ with Music Video

UNTITLED WITH DRUMS are releasing the second advanced single off their upcoming sophomore album Made Flesh. “Shame” channels frustration and a sharp sense of injustice into a song that hits with the directness of an accusation.

“‘Shame’ is about injustice, insolence and the stark observation that while so many of us are consumed by spirals of remorse and regret, others seem entirely immune and thriving without consequence”, Untitled With Drums says. “A theme that echoes the album’s broader thread of truly facing what we feel and acknowledging how deeply these flaws are woven into our core identity. ‘Shame’ is addressed to those who, for once in their lives, would do better to share that burden with the rest of us.”

The music video for “Shame” has been directed by Angélique Delarbre, and co-edited by Martin Le Borgne.

Made Flesh comes out August 21, 2026 on Season of Mist. Pre-order & Pre-save: https://orcd.co/untitledwithdrumsmadeflesh

Made Flesh maps a free-flowing exploration of the human psyche. The album deals with the ego, denial, toxicity and faith without coming to any easy resolutions. Whereas the album’s lead single, “Matter”, dissected the compulsion to dominate and be seen, “Shame” shifts the lens outward to those who move through the world unburdened by the weight that quietly crushes everyone else. “Still you are unknown to shame / While I bathed in mine / I gave it my name.”

No strangers to the specialist press or the festival circuit, Untitled With Drums have been together since 2014. The band released their debut album Hollow in 2020, just days before their native France entered its first COVID lockdown. Despite the timing, the album drew widespread praise and propelled the band to the stages of Hellfest, London’s Desertfest and the Nuits de Fourviere festival, where they opened for the Deftones and Baroness.

Tracklist:

1. Above My Head (3:29)
2. Shame (3:29) [WATCH]
3. Matter (3:44) [WATCH]
4. Gray (4:19)
5. Space (4:57)
6. Change for You (4:31)
7. Oblivious (3:13)
8. Parasitic (3:30)
9. Been So High (3:00)
10. Cry (4:30)
Full runtime: 38:44

That UNTITLED WITH DRUMS didn’t throw in the towel during the COVID era is nothing short of a miracle. While their debut album, Hollow, had the misfortune of being released just days before the lockdown was declared in France in March 2020, the praise from the specialized media allowed it to soar above the fray. This propelled this heir to Failure, Quicksand, and Cave In to the stages of Hellfest 2022 and the Nuits de Fourvière festival, opening for the legendary Deftones, as well as London’s Desertfest. This was enough to build confidence, gather strength, and prepare the ground for a worthy successor to their first album, as well as to the symbols EP released at the end of 2025. This was merely an appetizer before Made Flesh, their sophomore album, through which the Clermont-Ferrand-based band pushes their hybrid of alt rock and 90s post-hardcore to new heights.

Recorded and mixed under the guidance of Cyrille Gachet (Fange, Year Of No Light, The Great Old Ones…) and then mastered by Alan Douches (Dillinger Escape Plan, Every Time I Die, Converge…), Made Flesh grew out of a long and intense period of songwriting, fraught with self-doubt and soul-searching. But above all, it testifies to a compositional intent focused on efficiency and a better showcasing of everything that constitutes the band’s sonic DNA. Only one single guiding principle here: ensuring that these 10 new tracks resonate personally. This is Untitled With Drums as its members want you to hear them — not as you might expect. Far from being weakened by their reformation as a quartet, it is precisely their unbreakable bonds forged more than a decade ago that constitute their strength, more alive with symbiosis than ever.

While the power of Lucas D.’s riffs is heightened, the ethereal soundscapes he weaves are even more expanded. They blend seamlessly with Nicolas Z.’s synthesizers, now more prominent than ever. Rémy D.’s drumming provides the songs’ backbone, delivering grooves with assertive nuances without neglecting more intricate patterns. This array of strengths wouldn’t be complete without bassist Martin L.B..’s vocals, never failing to deliver an infectious emotional intensity. This energy serves Made Flesh‘s thematic focus: a satirical outlook on our times delivered from a multitude of perspectives, like donning and dropping one mask after another.

With this sophomore album, UNTITLED WITH DRUMS establish themselves as the beacon of a French rock scene struggling to take risks, too often settling for crude heaviness. Theirs cuts deeper — straight to the flesh.
