The upcoming album weaves tales of fiction and fantasy, carried by vivid imagery throughout. Its metaphors explore the shifting dynamics of friendships and relationships, and the constant struggle to make the right choices in life, sometimes succeeding, sometimes falling short.

For half their lives, five guys from Winterthur have been shaking up the Swiss rock scene under the name Jack Slamer. The band was founded in 2007, when the friends’ instrumental quartet; Adrian Böckli (drums), Cyrill Vollenweider (guitar), Marco Hostettler (guitar) and Hendrik Ruhwinkel (bass) was joined by Florian Ganz (vocals). During their first decade, the band developed its own sound and, across two albums, worked its way up from local heroes to SRF Best Talent. From headline shows at Z7, Salzhaus or the Winterthur Music Weeks to festival appearances at Blue Balls, Heitere or Gampel, they’ve been rocking stages all over the country.

With their third studio album Keep Your Love Loud, they broke into the Top 10 of the Swiss album charts in 2020 and eventually headed out on a tour of Spain. During the pandemic, however, things grew quieter around the band. Things had to be sorted out, new paths taken, and the situation reassessed.

In 2024, the decision was finally made: it’s far too early to retire the gig outfits! The boys from the neighbourhood are back, bringing fresh wind and bursting with energy after a forced break from live shows. From then on, though, in a slightly changed lineup: Cyrill left the band and was replaced by Omar Fra (guitar). With a new guitarist, the band’s groove shifts too: a little less Woodstock, a little more denim & leather. What remains is the goal: rock ’n’ roll; loud, live, and drenched in sweat!

Jack Slamer at their newest: full of energy, in a new formation, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. Four new songs were produced in the band’s own studio. Even before these singles were unleashed on the public, Jack Slamer had already turned to producing their next full-length album. For that, the quintet holed up in 2025 at the legendary Kerwax Analog Recording Studio in Brittany to capture their new sound straight to tape.

Mask Of Broken Glass is uncompromising, loud, and ready to sweat through every concert shirt. Stay tuned, it’s only rock ’n’ roll, but it feels damn good!

KONGH Unleash Second Single ‘Guided to the End’ from Upcoming Album

Following the release of “Staining the Ether”, Swedish sludge/doom metal heavyweights KONGH now unveil “Guided to the End”, the second single taken from their long-awaited fourth full-length album, “Dissolved in Time”, due for release on September 25 via Trust No One Recordings.

Described by founding member David Johansson as “the most direct and rock-oriented song on the album”, the track takes a more straightforward approach than much of KONGH’s previous material, as Johansson explains:

“‘Guided to the End’ is the most direct and rock-oriented song on the album. It’s perhaps the most straightforward song I’ve ever written for Kongh. Perhaps it’s also one of my most direct songs lyrically, as the lyrics deal with humanity’s endless attempts to create meaning and permanence in a world that ultimately forgets everything. They also touch on our tendency to conform, and the common fear of stepping outside of norms and expectations, whether they are social, cultural or otherwise. The human need to find significance in things, to leave something behind, and to believe that it might somehow transcend our own existence is both fascinating and kind of absurd. I think the song captures that tension between wanting to find meaning and realizing how temporary everything really is. The fact that life is temporary is, I think, one of the greatest struggles for people to come to terms with. Finding acceptance in the fact that things are not permanent is, at least in my opinion, a way towards fulfillment rather than the opposite.”

Between 2007 and 2013, KONGH released three critically acclaimed albums that established the band as one of Sweden’s most distinctive voices in heavy music. Extensive touring alongside acts such as Meshuggah and YOB earned the band a devoted international following before entering an extended hiatus.

Now, KONGH re-emerge with a record that does not seek to recreate the past, but rather continues and sharpens it. Written from ideas accumulated over the last decade and developed during six months of intensive work, “Dissolved in Time” expands upon the band’s trademark blend of crushing heaviness, vast atmosphere and hypnotic repetition, while incorporating electronics, layered textures and some of the most ambitious compositions in the band’s history.

The album was written and recorded under the direction of founding member David Johansson, who performed guitars, bass, electronics, and lead vocals, while also handling the mixing process. Drawing on years of experience gained both within Kongh and through his time as a touring guitarist for Cult of Luna between 2013 and 2019, Johansson shaped a record that is both deeply personal and structurally expansive.

Furthermore, “Dissolved in Time” features contributions from several key figures in the Scandinavian heavy music scene, including three of Johansson’s former bandmates from Cult of Luna. Christian Augustin performed drums and engineered the vocal sessions, while Kristian Karlsson engineered and mixed the drum recordings. The album was mastered by Magnus Lindberg, who also worked on KONGH’s 2013 release, reinforcing a sense of continuity in sound and vision. Additional backing vocals are provided by Jörgen Sandström, known for his work with Grave, Entombed, and many other seminal acts.

ABYSSUS Release New Single & Music Video ‘Destined To Die’

ABYSSUS stand as one of the most significant forces within the Greek Death Metal scene, having forged their path since 2011. Drawing profound inspiration from genre-defining pioneers such as DEATH, OBITUARY and BOLT THROWER, the band preserves the unadulterated spirit of old school death metal while imprinting their own distinct identity.

On October 23rd, ABYSSUS will release their new, third full length album, entitled „The Reign“, a ferocious testament to their artistic evolution. The album encapsulates all the core elements that have defined death metal through the decades: raw aggression, blistering riff-work, and a suffocating, commanding atmosphere. GRAYSCALE SEASON Announce New Album “The Weight of Things We Cannot Touch” & Release Video for New Single ‘Strung Up’

Gothenburg metalcore quartet Grayscale Season have announced their new album The Weight of Things We Cannot Touch, set for release on 20th November 2026. To coincide with the announcement, the band have released a video for the album’s first single ‘Strung Up’.

The Weight of Things We Cannot Touch was produced by George Lever (Loathe, Sleep Token), who worked with the band remotely while they recorded everything themselves, a first for them. The album was mixed by Buster Odeholm (Humanity’s Last Breath, Bring Me The Horizon) and mastered by Seth Munson (Teddy Swims), with additional top line production and piano by Aurora Karme Nord.

New single & album opener ‘Strung Up’ illustrates the feeling of being in the wrong room with the wrong people. It is about how far the need to belong will take you, and the codependency underneath it. The clean vocals originally sat on an acoustic guitar, and swapping that out for strings and samples is what made them sound dark. Underneath there is piano, there are pads, and there are samples pushed through guitar cabinets and filters. Not one acoustic guitar survived onto the finished track.

On the single, vocalist and bassist Adam Dahlman comments: “I tried to design the clean vocals to bloom. The first verse is head voice and I try to pronounce and enunciate differently than I normally would, to turn into more of a chest voice for the second verse. And that harmony on the second verse is killer. Eddie’s ‘more’ is so fucking good.”

Guitarist Richard Sörensen adds: “The end breakdown where the ambience drops with the guitar, creating this weird beautiful/ugly feeling.”

The band knew ‘Strung Up’ was the opener almost immediately and then spent over a year and five or six complete revisions finishing it. The last six months went on the stomping guitars alone. The solution was to keep them.

Grayscale Season have never sounded much like their hometown. Formed in Gothenburg in 2012 and independent throughout, the four-piece pair crushing low-tuned riffs with a fragile falsetto, because that is what it sounds like when someone performs strength while falling apart underneath it. They have toured the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Germany, France, Belgium and the Netherlands, and played Helltown Festival in 2024. Press comparisons have run to Loathe, Deftones, Humanity’s Last Breath and The Acacia Strain. The Weight of Things We Cannot Touch is their most direct record and their least resolved.

The album takes its name from a Japanese word. Yarusenai describes the sadness or anger you feel when you know exactly what is wrong and have no way at all to fix it, and Grayscale Season have built an entire record out of that condition. Across eleven tracks the narrator sees precisely what is wrong with him and stays in the wrong room anyway, conforms anyway, says the thing too late anyway. The album keeps looking for somewhere outside itself to put the grief, first in contempt for other people and then in the ground. Neither works. Only the closing track names something reachable, and what it grieves is not the loss of that thing but the years spent looking past it.

On the sound of the record, vocalist Eddie Lejhagen comments: “I don’t think we really had a specific reference for how the album would sound. Melancholy is probably what I wanted the album to have a lot of, and I think we managed to pull that off. As for the screamed vocals, Deafheaven is probably a major inspiration – the desperation in it, but melancholic at the same time.”

ENEMIES EVERYWHERE Release Self-Titled Debut Album, Out Now

The four-piece deathcore band Enemies Everywhere have released their highly anticipated self-titled debut album. Formed in 2022, the band first made their mark on the Finnish metal scene with their Endless Discord EP, released two years ago, introducing a new wave of Finnish deathcore with a relentlessly aggressive approach.

Last year, the band underwent a lineup change as Sasu Mikkola took over vocal duties. Following the change, Enemies Everywhere turned their focus even more strongly towards developing their own musical identity, refining their sound and putting the finishing touches on the album. The result is a self-titled release that sees the band’s sound taking on a stronger and more distinctive form than ever before. Today, Enemies Everywhere proudly present their nine-track debut album.

“The release of the album is an important milestone for us, as we spent a long time refining the songs and developing our own sound for the record. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing people enjoy our music when we finally get to play these songs live! It’s an honor for us to be part of the Finnish extreme metal scene, which is alive and thriving.”

MOLOKEN Release Final Single ‘Eternal Sleep’ from Upcoming Self-Titled Album

Umeå, Sweden based four-piece Moloken will release their self-titled fifth album on September 25th 2026 via Discouraged Records, marking a powerful return after six years of silence with a dark, introspective journey through themes of consciousness, death, and eternity. After sharing two album tracks in the shape of firstly ‘A Night Vision Revealed (Asterion Pt. I)’, and then ‘Fault Line’, the band releases the album’s third and final single ‘Eternal Sleep’ today.

The song ventures into the darkest and most inevitable territory of them all: death and eternity. It explores the frightening mystery of what awaits us beyond life, and asks a question we may spend our entire existence trying to answer: How do we face death consciously? Can we ever make peace with it — perhaps even become friends with death?

The existential awareness of life and death awakens in all of us at an early age. For many, this confrontation with mortality becomes a source of fear and anxiety that can follow us throughout life. ‘Eternal Sleep’ explores what happens when those thoughts rise to the surface and refuse to be silenced.

“During periods of high stress, I sink deeper into my well of anxiety, and the thought of death slowly crawls into my awareness. I am alone with my thoughts, caught in an endless pondering with no clear answer. Why do I exist? And why will I no longer exist a few decades from now? My self-awareness can become a burden, and at times it is a very heavy one to carry,” says the band’s bassist and vocalist Nicklas Bäckström.

Rather than attempting to answer these questions, ‘Eternal Sleep’ dwells within them. It is a confrontation with mortality, consciousness and the strange weight of simply being alive — a journey into the place where fear and acceptance begin to blur.

The song is dedicated to Kristoffer and Nicklas’ grandfather, and to Patrik’s mother, who both passed away. Their presence may be gone, but their spirits will always remain with us.

Doom, death, black, sludge or post – few metal subgenres escape Moloken’s gravitational pull. Since forming in 2007, the four-piece from Umeå, Sweden has consistently pushed the boundaries of their sound, carving out new musical terrain with each release.

Moloken’s music moves like a shifting legend. For nearly two decades it has passed from listener to listener, changing shape along the way and leaving behind a lingering aura of mystique. Pinning the band down to a single genre is nearly impossible – but their uncompromising weight and precision as a live act are undeniable. At its core, Moloken is an experience: something to be felt rather than explained, reaching its full force on stage.

The band’s fifth album revolves around the burden of consciousness, death, and eternity. It unfolds as a journey through a Nordic mythscape, drawing the listener deep into a dense forest. Lush melancholy intertwines with a creeping unease; what first feels inviting gradually becomes disorienting. When the illusion breaks, you find yourself alone in the dark, surrounded by your own thoughts – with only a faint light somewhere beyond the fear.

After six years of silence, the album marks a powerful return.
