Rising Spanish progressive metal outfit ÂSCENT is here to deliver a dose of sonic liberation with their brand new lyric video for “Master of Nothing”.
This electrifying track, ripped straight from their upcoming album “Gamma” (dropping August 16th via Wormholedeath), is more than just a headbanger – it’s a powerful anthem about shattering the chains of a toxic relationship.
“Master of Nothing” chronicles a journey of overcoming darkness and reclaiming your power. Dive into the story of a protagonist who confronts a stagnant, negativity-fueled situation and emerges victorious through sheer grit and self-belief.
Formed in Madrid in 2014, Âscent started by covering songs and quickly transitioned to crafting their distinctive sound. Their journey includes standout moments like debuting at Totofest in 2016 and dropping their first album, Deep Schyzo Cycle, in 2017. They’ve since showcased their versatility with tracks like “Stereo Thoughts” in 2019 and their progressive metal take on “Eleanor Rigby” in 2020. Their upcoming album Gamma promises to deliver diverse themes and innovative musical arrangements.

Deathcore heavyweights CABAL conclude their rework collaborations EP. Teaming up with rising Melbourne based producer and content creator Misstiq and delivering a crushing techno revamp of their fan favourite number ‘Magno Interitus’. CABAL are set to dominate the scene for years to come, regularly pinned by media as one of the most promising and exciting acts in metal.
Singer Andreas Bjulver comments: “CABAL have always found inspiration in other genres besides metal, and especially dark electronic and industrial techno have been a source of inspiration behind the soundscape of our latest album Magno Interitus. With the Magno Interitus Rework EP we wanted to further explore the electronic sound and see how the songs would turn out when reworked by talented electronic artist, INHUMAN, John Cxnnor, Misstiq and our bass player, JOHU. We are very pleased with the end result and can’t wait to bring you all along on this dark electronic journey that is the Magno Interitus Rework EP.”
Watch the visualizer of ‘Magno Interitus (Misstiq Rework)’ here:
CABAL is one of the most brutal and promising heavy acts hailing from Copenhagen, Denmark. The band aims to create a visceral and doom-laden atmosphere throughout both their music and visual expression. The production is crystal clear, whilst the songwriting draws inspiration from everything from black and death metal to djent and hardcore.
Since the release of their debut album “Mark of Rot” in 2018, the young band has managed to make a name for themselves in both Denmark and the rest of the world by playing renowned festivals like Copenhell, Roskilde Festival, Euroblast Festival and Complexity Fest as well as touring in Europe, Japan and North America.
CABAL released the sophomore album “Drag Me Down” in April 2020 – a dark descent into a personal hell brought to life by crushing instrumentals, an oppressive atmosphere and dark personal lyrics delivered with relentless intensity, while still leaving room for experimentation and expansion of CABAL’s signature sound. Add to this guest appearances from metal titans TRIVIUM‘s Matt Heafy, rising metalcore stars POLARIS’ Jamie Hails and Denmark’s Blackgaze darlings MØL’s Kim Song Sternkopf and there is no doubt that CABAL is a band with friends in every corner of the metal scene.
Long-running heavy metal legends, SATAN, recently announced their upcoming new full-length, Songs In Crimson, set for release on September 13th via Metal Blade Records. Today, they are pleased to launch the record’s pre-orders.
SATAN‘s history is storied, their albums and incendiary live shows, iconic. The Newcastle, England-bred lineup may quip that their career has been “forty-four years of prolonged mayhem with a twenty-year lunch break” – forming in 1980, eventually pausing before reuniting in 2011 – but circa 2024 finds the band thriving, writing, recording, and touring at the top of their game.
Proof positive is their seventh studio album, and third for Metal Blade, Songs In Crimson. If 2022’s Earth Infernal album was brutal, up-tempo and with loud guitars, guitarist Russ Tippins calls Songs In Crimson “concise. It’s more to-the-point and gets there quicker. One of the reasons behind the album title is that this record is very ‘song’ focused. There’s more punch this time around. Each chorus speaks for itself.“
SATAN rails against characterless, metronomic, and “cut and paste music on a digital dog leash. Recording in the 21st century has become no more than a series of binary code. Call me reactionary,” says Tippins, “and maybe I am, but every bone in my body wants to rebel against the incoming tide of ones and zeros.” With influences from King Crimson to Mercyful Fate, SATAN‘s own stylings remain unique, the band’s NWOBHM origins a springboard for musical and lyrical creativity, commentary, and nonconformity.
While Songs In Crimson features lyrics including “a once-great nation is going down” and “this is the end of an era,” SATAN offers no quick fix. “There is always hope; solutions are not for us musicians to proclaim,” Tippins believes. “Each song has its own different theme. While there is no title track as such, the song ‘Deadly Crimson,’ which is an anti-capitalism narrative, is as close as it gets to that. As a concept, making money from money is fatally flawed in that it depends on constant growth,” Tippins says. “But constant growth is obviously impossible; a conveyor belt of sacrificial lambs.”
Honed by years of collaboration, brotherhood and love, SATAN‘s chemistry is unbreakable. “We played at a metal festival where the headlining band had zero original members,” Tippins says. “I cannot get my head around that, though I admire their bravery. We are the genuine article. We did not reunite just to trade on past glory,” he concludes. “If you want nostalgia, this is not the band for you. We look only ahead and always will.”
If 1983’s Court In The Act started SATAN‘s aural journey, and 2018’s Cruel Magic was a game-changer, where does Songs in Crimson stand in SATAN‘s heavy discography? “The goal is to further consolidate the style we’ve established, the pathway we’ve been on since the reunion,” Tippins says. “Part of that style is that each release must have something that sets it apart from its predecessors.”
Songs in Crimson was produced by the band and Dave Curle of First Avenue Studios who also engineered, mixed, and mastered the record.

NIGHTWISH announced the release of their tenth studio album, “Yesterwynde,” on September 20, 2024. Simultaneously, the band will take a surprising break from touring. Tuomas Holopainen provides insights into the reasons and the creative inspiration behind the album, which promises an epic musical journey through time.
Release of “Yesterwynde” and Surprising Tour Break
On September 20, 2024, the release of Nightwish‘s tenth studio album, “Yesterwynde,” is scheduled, but surprisingly, no tour dates are planned this time. In an interview with Metal Injection, Tuomas Holopainen addresses why Nightwish is taking a break from live performances:
“The reasons are personal, we’re not going to go into it, but it was something that had to be done for this band to continue. There’s no bad blood between the members, nothing like that. We just have to take a long breather.”
When asked about the band’s future and their presence on stage, Holopainen responded:
“Personally, I haven’t really given it much thought. I don’t know how long the break is going to be. We just signed a multi-album deal with Nuclear Blast, so that is evidence there are going to be more albums in future. Nightwish are definitely not going to stop, so everybody stop worrying. We just need a breather from touring.”
The Concept of “Yesterwynde”
The upcoming album “Yesterwynde” is deeply rooted in time and reflects Holopainen’s fascination with history and its narrative power. This album is not just a collection of songs but an homage to time itself, as the Mastermind reveals:
“In late 2020, I discovered the world of black and white photos that had been coloured […]. When I see them, it gives me a sensation I cannot describe – a connection to the past. I couldn’t find a word in any language to describe it, so I said to Troy [Donockley], ‘Can we make up a word to describe this?’ I came up with ‘yester’ and he immediately said ‘wynde’. ‘Yesterwynde’ – it was perfect. I don’t know what the meaning is. It just feels right.”
The already released single “Perfume Of The Timeless” and other tracks on the album promise an epic journey through the ages and invite listeners to be enchanted by the music and its stories. A must for all who appreciate profound music and impressive compositions.

SADUS is currently touring in support of The Shadow Inside, which was released in November 2023 with Nuclear Blast Records. The band’s 6th full-length was recorded with Juan Urteaga (EXODUS, TESTAMENT, MACHINE HEAD) at Trident Studios and features ominous artwork by accomplished artist Travis Smith (FLESHGOD APOCALPYSE, OPETH). Their first record in 17 years is a contemporary thrash classic with colossal, groove-laden riffs at break-neck rhythm and blistering solos as heard on blistering tracks like ‘Scorched And Burnt,’ ‘It’s The Sickness’ and ‘Ride The Knife,” that further cement the band’s legacy as one of thrash metal’s most quintessential bands.
Spanish black metal band Kreyl is set to release their debut album ‘Obscure Rise of Ancient Eulogy’ on October 18th 2024 via Finnish Inverse Records. The first single Medusa’s Death is now out and official lyrics video can be seen below.
The band comments single: “‘The song “Medusa’s Death” is based on the myth of Perseus and Medusa. Medusa is one of the three Gorgons who is often associated with death, with fear. In the song, the moment before her death at the hands of Perseus is described in a bloody and gruesome way. The deliberate choice of this myth is because she represents horror, the other side of beauty that fascinates and repels, seduces and kills. The female gaze, usually a source of seduction, in Medusa becomes a source of instant death, turning anyone who looks at her into solid stone.”

The Kreyl project was born during the winter of 2020, in the city of Barcelona (Catalunya/Spain), from an idea of Virus Tremor, guitarist of the band and also guitarist of the black metal band Nefasta and the brutal death metal band Handle with Hate. It was inspired by the album ‘I’ by the Finnish black metal band Hedonihil and many other bands of the second wave of black metal. Later on the Kreyl project was joined by: Croma Lan Ro as drummer, also drummer of the black metal band Fogos; Necrum Nebulas as bass player and already a member of the brutal death bands Caustic and Handle with Hate; I. Luna as guitarist, already member of the brutal death band Caustic and Eris Nocturna Aura on vocals, already singer in the black metal band Nefasta and mastermind of the dark ambient solo project Aetheria (Italy).
Kreyl’s idea is to move away from the usual themes centred on Satan and Anti-Christianity and to focus more on historical-cultural themes closely related to the concept of death, occultism, ancient civilizations, exalting also the most raw, violent and brutal local mythology and paganism from a philosophical and dark point of view.
Line-up: Eris Nocturna Aura – Vocals Virus Tremor – Guitars I. Luna – Guitars Necrum Nebulas – Bass Croma Lan Ro – Drums
