NILE Announce 2025 USA Tour + Reveal Second Single ‘To Strike with Secret Fang’

American death metal icons NILE recently announced their highly-anticipated 10th album, The Underworld Awaits Us All, out August 23 via Napalm Records, and the first reviews are in! The album’s breakneck first single, “Chapter for Not Being Hung Upside Down on a Stake in the Underworld and Made to Eat Feces by the Four Apes”, arrived to much acclaim from long time fans, and was instantly dubbed by Consequence as “kinetic, technically dense brutality”, while MetalSucks hailed it as “face disfiguring death metal from start to finish”.

The album’s second single and most succinct standout, “To Strike with Secret Fang”, pushes that unrelenting prowess to the next level. Out today via a new lyric video and streaming on all major platforms, the track blends low-end punishment with blackened death metal inspiration, rhythmic vocal mastery and brutal conviction. Listen below!

Alongside the single, NILE have also announced their upcoming 2025 USA co-headline tour with death metal greats Six Feet Under. The tour begins January 7, 2025 in Nashville, TN and will feature support from Psycroptic and Embryonic Autopsy. Tickets for this unmissable onslaught go on sale this Friday, July 12 at 10:00AM EDT! Pre-show meet and greets will also be available for both headliners. Visit https://nile-official.com/ for tickets and more information, and see below for all tour dates.

NILE’s Karl Sanders comments on the new track and tour announcement:
“‘To Strike with Secret Fang’ is a straight-to-the-point, uptempo blasting venomous assassin’s blade of a metal song. It’s the shortest track off the new record, The Underworld Awaits us All, which of course in Nile fashion has several long form complex metal compositions. But ‘Fang’ instantly goes right for the throat and will no doubt be a burner for live Nile shows.

“Speaking of, Nile is very pleased for the opportunity to once again share the stage with the guys in Six Feet Under and Psycroptic. We are also primed and ready to play some of the killer songs from the new Nile album for metal fans, as well as classic Nile tracks that have become live favorites over the years. We have no doubt that metal will take place!”

NILE Festivals:
May 22-25, 2025 – Baltimore, MD, USA @ Maryland Deathfest XX

Boasting airtight technicality and unrelenting brutality, the new album pushes each member of NILE – founding mastermind/guitarist Karl Sanders, longtime drum master George Kollias, vocalist/guitarists Brian Kingsland and Zach Jeter, and bassist Dan Vadim Von – to their furthest extremes both in artistry and performance. Once again produced and recorded at Sanders’ own Serpent Headed Studios in Greenville, South Carolina, the band returned to Vile Nilotic Rites engineer Mark Lewis (Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus, Whitechapel) for mixing and mastering.

Facing the planet’s inevitable end with their diehard fans at their side, NILE waste absolutely no time with histrionics on The Underworld Awaits Us All, distilling their trademark Egyptology driven tempest down to its most streamlined essence. Charging into battle as its namesake depicts, “Stelae of Vultures” makes an immediate impact with dissonant guitar chords and supernatural drumming, teasing the auditory evisceration to come. Topped by impressive screams and gutturals, the track leads into “Chapter for Not Being Hung Upside Down on a Stake in the Underworld and Made to Eat Feces by the Four Apes”, citing the Egyptian Book of the Dead’s 181st chapter. The album’s most succinct track, “To Strike with Secret Fang”, blends low-end punishment with blackened death metal inspiration, before album standouts such as “Naqada II Enter the Golden Age” and “Overlords of the Black Earth” breathe new life with thrash and fusion experimentation, as well as real human choirs – adding a raw element to the NILE fold. Each track soars as a technical tour-de-force – featuring career-defining extreme drumming from Kollias, as well as razor-sharp soloing from all three active guitarists and palpable bass exploration. A perfect example of this equation is pinnacle burner “Under the Curse of the One God”, combining sinister atmospherics with breakneck pacing and whirlwind, vicious riff acrobatics.

Throughout the remainder of its 11 pummeling tracks and intricate interludes, NILE masters full-tilt speed and ferocious musicality. 30 years into their heavy reign, The Underworld Awaits Us All proves that NILE is marching onward and undoubtedly upward, bleeding metal for their fandom for as long as the sands of time will allow.

AS I LAY DYING Release Second Single ‘The Cave We Fear To Enter’, USA Tour Begins Today

Following the explosive acclaim and surprise release of their first new single in five years, “Burden”, Grammy nominated metal legends AS I LAY DYING return with another brand-new single. Coinciding with today’s kick off of their USA headline tour in northern California, the new single, “The Cave We Fear To Enter”, is available to stream now via Napalm Records and impacts with a new music video directed by Tom Flynn.

The lyrical concept behind “The Cave We Fear To Enter” began with an idea from bass player/vocalist Ryan Neff, inspiring vocalist Tim Lambesis to develop the lyrical message further. The balladic track begins pensively before charging into an emotive melodic metalcore opus. Like “Burden”, the new track was co-produced by guitarist Phil Sgrosso and Hiram Hernandez, mixed by Aaron Chaparian and mastered by Ted Jensen.

Frontman Tim Lambesis offers about the lyrical process behind “The Cave We Fear To Enter”:
“This is the first time I’ve written lyrics based on an idea started by someone else in the band. Sometimes, when we try out different melodies, we’ll temporarily use words that just happen to fit as a placeholder. But on this song, Ryan chose words that he felt represented what he had been processing leading up to the demo. It felt right for me to leave that therapeutic expression in place. So, when I took over, the imagery of a cave where you face your fears came to mind. While I only know a little of Joseph Campbell’s work, the imagery brought to mind a quote of his that I remembered and used for inspiration as well.”

Guitarist Phil Sgrosso chimes in on the development of the song musically and working with video director Tom Flynn again:
“‘The Cave We Fear To Enter’ may be one of our most adventurous songs to date. We broke out of a lot of old habits and formulaic moves to create something that touches on a lot of emotional elements we haven’t explored so deeply before. From its inception, it was instantly a favorite for all of us.

We really enjoyed collaborating with Tom Flynn on the video to combine the storylines between ‘Burden’ and ‘The Cave We Fear to Enter’, continuing the journey of the character through new environments and circumstances. It was a lot of fun to take new creative risks to tell this story visually alongside the somber and uplifting nature of the song.”

MOTÖRHEAD: Special LEMMY FOREVER Memorial at BLOODSTOCK 2024

Posted by metalshockfinland on July 9, 2024
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: Lemmy Kilmister, motörhead. Leave a comment

Only a month now until metalheads will return to Derbyshire’s Catton Park in the UK, where BLOODSTOCK welcomes headbangers from all over the world along with 120 bands to another unforgettable 4 day festival experience from August 8 – 11, 2024. Fans can look forward to headliners like Amon Amarth, Architects, and Opeth and see Hatebreed, Korpiklaani, Malevolence, Satyricon, Deicide, Whitechapel, Enslaved, and many more on stage or enjoy fairground rides, Viking battles, a gaming arena, heavy metal art gallery, signing tent, or drinks on the festival grounds.

But there’s one more reason 2024 will be a very special year at Bloodstock: By arrangement with Official Motörhead management, Bloodstock has announced that the legendary, late, great Lemmy Kilmister will be permanently memorialised at the heavy metal festival. Some of Lemmy’s ashes will be housed at BLOODSTOCK – one of only a few places globally – in a unique urn, with the festival commissioning a Bust of Lemmy to incorporate the ashes. Fans will be able to view the installation and pay tribute to Lemmy and his legacy in the Rock And Metal Museum on site. Once the festival is over, the Bust of Lemmy will move to Nottingham’s ROCK CITY where fans will have access to the ashes; they will return each and every year to their primary home on the hallowed turf of BLOODSTOCK at Catton Park. The ceremony takes place officially on Friday the 9th of August at BLOODSTOCK. The memorial will be part of a bigger picture theme for the festival this year to commemorate this special news and celebrate the remarkable legacy of Lemmy and Motörhead. In a way, the ghost of Lemmy Kilmister will watch over the fans at BLOODSTOCK – this year and forever!

– The RAM Gallery on site will be extended this year to accommodate an expanded Motörhead theme, including a full wall of Motörhead artwork, as well as archive memorabilia, plus you can relive a moment in time by visiting a recreation of Lemmy’s touring dressing room.

– On site this year, BLOODSTOCKers will see the Motörhead Bomber in the arena, witness various bands paying tribute to Motörhead by incorporating Motörhead tracks into their live sets, and the opening and closing of the festival will be marked with a sounding of the famous Motörhead Air Raid Siren.

– BLOODSTOCK will also welcome Motörhead’s Phil Campbell to the festival this year and are thrilled to have his participation in these special celebrations.

Even more Motörhead themed activations are still in the works, so stay tuned as this exciting development continues coming together!

Motörhead’s manager Todd Singerman comments: “BLOODSTOCK has always been a special place for Motörhead and for Lemmy. The people and the energy matched Lemmy’s values perfectly. Alan and Vicky were also great friends, and basically family of Lemmy, as he was the reason that they originally got together. This is definitely a fitting honor in the continuing series of enshrinements of Lemmy’s ashes in his most loved places.” Bloodstock’s Vicky Hungerford adds: “We were humbled and honoured to be approached by Motörhead management to have Lemmy’s ashes at BLOODSTOCK. Lemmy holds a very special place in everybody’s heart, but to myself and my husband he was the reason we met and fell in love. Nothing will mean more to us and the BLOODSTOCK family than to honour his legacy and have Lemmy forever at BLOODSTOCK.”

ASENBLUT Unleash ‘Wie ein Berserker’ Video Single from Upcoming Album

Posted by metalshockfinland on July 9, 2024

August 2, 2024 will see ASENBLUT release their much-awaited, new album “Entfesselt” via Massacre Records, marking a new era of the Melodic Viking Death Metal act ASENBLUT.

“Entfesselt” (in english “Unleashed”) will be available as CD Digipak, Ltd. Box Set, Ltd. Vinyl LP (black, silver, transparent green) and Digital formats; the boxset will include the CD Digipak, an “Asenblut” leather bracer, sticker plus autograph card. Pre-order the upcoming ASENBLUT album here: https://lnk.to/entfesselt

In support of their record release, ASENBLUT have not only announced a series of upcoming live dates (find all shows listed below!), today, they are also sharing a music video for their brand new single “Wie ein Berserker”!

“The strongest image and ASENBLUT’s mascot: The berserker – unleash your inner one every day!” Says frontman Tetztel. “No challenge too hard, to hill too steep. Take matters in your own hands – like a berserker! You only must get up as often as you fall. No fear, invest blood and sweat, even if it tears you apart!”

“Wie ein Berserker” is now streaming on all digital providers via https://asenblu t.bfan.link/wie einberserker

Even though the album is not a concept album per se, the album title “Entfesselt” certainly gives the direction and right impression at first glance; there is just no holding back anymore. “Entfesselt” turned out rougher, more direct and more powerful than any ASENBLUT album before! 10 tracks filled with raw energy and emotion, considering the lowest lows and celebrating the highest highs.

The songwriting was done by Balrogh in close colaboration with Tetzel, who directed the songs and wrote all the lyrics. It is no coincidence that the choruses of a lot of songs draw you in and make you sing along and pump your fist! For the sound, the band decided to go a bit more in-your-face: Big guitars, strong and harsh growls and thundering drums.

Featuring guest appearances of such as Askeroth of Nachtblut and Matthias Mente (Deliver The Galaxy), “Entfesselt” was produced, mixed and mastered by Maté Balogh, with an additional mastering by Andrea Testori at Streetrec Studio. The cover artwork was designed by Nick Greenwood.

Tracklist:

  1. Das Ende der Götter
  2. Entfesselt
  3. Unbesiegbar
  4. Wie ein Berserker
  5. Arm in Arm
  6. Hexengericht
  7. Wölfe des Meeres
  8. Blut und Sand
  9. Dagon
  10. Nox Nostra Est

In support of “Entfesselt”, ASENBLUT will embark on an album release tour with dates in Germany and Austria this August. Make sure to catch them live at the following shows, with special guests DELIVER THE GALAXY, presented by Legacy, Metal.de and Powermetal.de:

MODERN RITES Premiere New Song ‘Becoming’ from Upcoming Album

Posted by metalshockfinland on July 9, 2024
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: MODERN RITES. Leave a comment

MODERN RITES use raw intensity to fuse Industrial music, Black Metal and atmospheric soundscapes. ‘Becoming‘, the second single from upcoming new album “Endless“, finds the duo of Berg (AARA) and Jonny Warren (KUYASHII) masterfully combining ferocious riffs with haunting melodies in a captivating and emotive exploration of existential despair.

Jonny Warren describes the genesis of ‘Becoming‘:

“For this track, we wanted to really build on the Industrial foundations that inspired our sound. The song started with a repetitive drum machine rhythm that is heard in the intro. This created a solid base for layering synth, bass, and guitars that crescendos into one of our most industrial-focused tracks to date. With the concept of cycles in mind, the initial drum rhythm is carried throughout the track to drive the tension and repose between uniform riffs and airy, melodic synth passages.

Tying into the theme of ideological conflict throughout the album, ‘Becoming‘ is about the seeds of ignorance sown by oppressive forces that grow and spread over time. Subjugation leads to violent revelry in a repetition of forgotten histories and truths. Culminating with the inevitable self-destruction of the revelers, the song ends with a new beginning of an end.“

The first-released new song and title track, ‘Endless‘, can be listened to here.

Find all album details here!

‘Endless” will be released on CD, vinyl and digital on August 30th. Pre-orders are possible via the label’s EU, US and Bandcamp shops.

MODERN RITES is an Industrial-rooted, melodic Black Metal duo founded in Autumn 2020 by guitarist Berg of Swiss Atmospheric Black Metal band AARA and multi-instrumentalist/vocalist/visual artist Jonny Warren of US Experimental Metal band KUYASHII.

Born out of experimentation and a mutual respect for each other’s craft, the pair began trading tracks across borders with the goal of creating a unique sound which would transcend cultural barriers. At the core of MODERN RITES is Jonny‘s heavily distorted bass sound inspired by dark Industrial music of the ’90s. The diverging, stereo bass paths create a desolate landscape in which Berg’s guitars are free to open portals into dark atmospheres.

Exploring the bleaker aspects of the human condition, lyrical themes dive into psychology, isolation, conflict, and the ever-evolving shadow self.

Impressed by MODERN RITES‘ quality and originality, Debemur Morti Productions released “Monuments“, a debut album which sets a vast, winding aural path for further experimentation to come, in 2021.

Building upon acclaimed debut, forthcoming album “Endless” unifies, elevates and perfects the band’s vision, ebbing and flowing between oppressive isolation and furious optimism in an anthemically intense exploration of the human condition. “Endless” is set to release on August 30th, 2024.
