CALVA LOUISE Reveal Frenetic Official Video for ‘La Corriente’

Following on from their electrifying tour with Vukovi in the US and performances at Download Festival in the UK and Vainstream Rockfest in Germany, Calva Louise have revealed a brand new video for recently released single “La Corriente,” out now on Mascot Records. You can watch the video for it HERE.

Talking about the music video the band say, “‘La Corriente’ is indirectly part of the sequel of ‘Under The Skin’, as the beginning of the prequel takes place in 1994: the day a young Jonnie had to agree to become an apprentice to a commander coming from the Fractalworld. ‘La Corriente’ takes place at the show where his fate is sealed, setting the tone of the story that will be unfolding in the next video. We are very grateful to everyone who took part in the video, especially Sunbird Records bar in Darwen that allowed us to shoot those two music videos in 4 days at their venue. It was a hard but fulfilling experience especially for Jess as she is directing and editing the videos.”

The single has already picked up support from BBC Radio 1. “’La Corriente’ is about escaping prefabricated opinions and judgments, affecting our perception of self,” Jess Allanic explains. Translated to “the current”, in Spanish it can mean the river current but also figuratively it can mean following someone’s flow. Allanic adds, “By trying to be agreeable and trying to fit in, I let someone’s current drag me away from my own self in the past, undermining my opinions and eventually feeling trapped in expressing myself. This song for me is regaining that power back.”

They recently finished a 5-week tour of the US with Vukovi as well as playing Sonic Temple and Welcome To Rockville festivals in the US. Talking about the tour the band say, “Touring with Vukovi was one of the best experiences we’ve had! They are a wonderful band and amazing people! We also got to see so many great places and meet wonderful new people who travelled all over the US to come to the shows! We had a great time and hope we get to do it again soon!”

They recently released their explosive single Under The Skin, which was picked up by BBC Radio 1’s Introducing Rock Show, Future Alternative and Future Artist’s shows as well as playlisted at Kerrang Radio. They have also previously picked up support from BBC Radio 1’s Alyx Holcombe, 6 Music, and Radio X, Metal Hammer and Rock Sound.

Under the Skin was co-written by Allanic and Pendulum’s Gareth McGrillen and is a mesmerising blend of raging metal riffs, swirling electronica, and Allanic’s extraordinary ability to flit between ethereal vocals and demonic howls. It swoons in and out of a stunning narrative, with melodic twists along the way that are penetrated by an attack of hypnotic aggression. The song and video follows a complex Sci-Fi narrative and is the introduction of a conceptual storyline about the characters and their counterparts, The video is an incredible feast for the eye and was directed and edited with VFX by Allanic.

The British based band is truly International with its members hailing from across the globe and has been ripping through the U.K. underground for the past few years, driven by the creative vision of Venezuelan born Jess Allanic (Vocals/Guitar/Keyboard) along with French born Alizon Taho (Bass/Backing Vocals – France) and New Zealander Ben Parker (Drums/Backing Vocals).

DAVID REECE Releases New Video ‘Tomorrow Don’t Matter Today’ with Live Footage from Recent USA & Scandinavian Tour

David Reece has just been confirmed as the headliner of Pirates Metal Night – 10 Years El Puerto Records.

Reason enough to give an impression of his live concerts with a new video. “Tomorrow Don’t Matter Today” uses live footage from his release tour through the USA and Scandinavia, which took place directly after the release of his latest album “Baptized By Fire” on March 1st.

or digital: save-it.cc/epr/baptized-by-fire

Not much more needs to be said about David Reece. Since the late 80s, his charismatic voice has enhanced successful albums by ACCEPT, Bangalore Choir, Bonfire and the Sainted Sinners, among others. In addition to this, however, he also continued to focus on his solo career. As the cover and title “Baptized by Fire” already suggest, his latest album is significantly “heavier” than its two predecessors. Twelve new songs full of power, mature and varied. One reason for this is certainly his new band line-up. In his adopted home of Italy, he found three highly talented, creative collaborators with whom he was able to work on the songs around the clock. A paradise for a “thoroughbred” musician like Reece!

Tracklist:

ÄNGRY GENTLEMEN Release Hard Rocking Single ‘Red Tight Skirt’

Finnish heavy rock band ÄNGRY GENTLEMEN released a new single Red Tight Skirt on July 4th 2024 via Inverse Records.

Ängry Gentlemen swears by the name of heavy rock and follows the path indicated by Motörhead, Peer Günt and Mustasch. From the beginning, the work has been done on a trio basis and unapologetically. Heavy drumming, high gain guitar, heavily distorted bass and raspy vocals create the basis for Ängry Gentlemen’s music.

LISTEN to Red Tight Skirt on streaming services: https://push.fm/fl/ag-red-tight-skirt

Composed and arranged by Tuomas Patanen, Mikko Henriksson & Juha Virolainen
Lyrics by Tuomas Patanen
Artwork by Juha Virolainen

The band comments:
” “Red Tight Skirt” is a love song that speaks of that moment when you see something so beautiful but unattainable. The story of the song describes that moment when the world stops, the body freezes, and no sensible words come out of the mouth anymore. To top it off, the mind starts imagining all the things one could do with a new crush, but reality hits later on.”

Ängry Gentlemen recorded a couple of new singles. After a couple demo EPs, they packed their gear and squeezed into Lammaskallio Studio with Juho Salaterä for a couple of days, resulting in a couple of new singles. The new songs may represent a somewhat calmer tempo, but with professional production, they’ve taken a few steps forward overall. Juho crafted a sound world according to the band’s wishes, leaving out unnecessary frills. The songs are what the whole thing sounds like live as well. The second single Law Breaker is set to be released on August 29th 2024 and pre-save link is available HERE.

Accomplished southern rock/Americana artist Jason Charles Miller is proud to announce his signing to One Opportunity Records, where he will release his new album Knives In The Dark on August 16. The release will be followed by a North American tour (see dates below) with Steel Panther that launches August 23 in Buffalo, NY.

“This is the first album I’ve written where my only goal was to write the best songs I can, and not worry about where they might be categorized,” says Miller. “By not going out of my way to write for a specific genre, I’ve made what is, hands down, the best – and most representative – album of my career.”

‘Knives’ will be Miller’s fifth full-length solo album, alongside multiple EPs and singles and a host of high-profile soundtrack and theme music work for shows and games including ‘Critical Role,’ ‘Metal Gear Rising,’ ‘Cyberpunk 2077,’ ‘Legends of the Multiverse’ and AEW professional wrestler Brandon Cutler.

Miller’s music contributions to the Final Fantasy video game franchise have made him a fan favorite to players of the game, and he is featured regularly at Final Fantasy Fan Fest events worldwide, including upcoming officially sanctioned tour stops in China, Japan and South Korea this fall, where he will perform Final Fantasy XIV music alongside all-star ensembles and orchestras.

Widely recognized as the frontman and founder of the rock band Godhead, where he toured the world with the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, Rammstein, Disturbed, Linkin Park, Slipknot and Korn frontman Jonathan Davis, Miller transitioned to a solo artist with the release of his Last To Go Home EP in 2009.

Seamlessly blending the worlds of Americana, rock and country, his solo career has seen him share stages with greats including Billy Ray Cyrus, Alan Jackson, Eric Church, Toby Keith, Ashley McBryde, .38 Special, Allman Betts Band and more.

Inferno Metal Festival 2025 Announces First Wave of Bands, Ft. 1349, BLOOD INCANTATION, AETERNUS, SPECTRAL WOUND + More

Posted by metalshockfinland on July 4, 2024
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: INFERNO METAL FESTIVAL. Leave a comment

INFERNO FESTIVAL NORWAY 2025 is pleased to reveal the first wave of bands for next year’s highly anticipated edition, which will once again take place in Oslo (NO) from April 17-20 for another blasphemous Easter! The festival now welcomes 1349, BLOOD INCANTATION, AETERNUS, SETH, ABYSSIC, SPECTRAL WOUND, ANGIST, BYTHOS, VIOLENT MAGIC ORCHESTRA + SYN to the lineup, with more TBA! Tickets and passes can be found HERE.

1349

The Norwegian black metal band 1349 was founded back in 1997 and has maintained a steady course ever since. With pure aggression and brutality in their musical expression, 1349 has made a mark on the Norwegian black metal scene. To date, 1349 has released eight albums, three EPs, and a live album. Earlier this year, they released the single ”Ash of Ages,” indicating that 1349 is back in full force with more malevolence. Whatever it may be, you can see it at Inferno Metal Festival 2025!

BLOOD INCANTATION

Blood Incantation is an American death metal band that has been active since 2011. The band is known for blending psychedelic elements into their death metal. The band gained a lot of attention when they released ”Hidden History of the Human Race” in 2019 and have since played live extensively. In October this year, the band’s next album, titled ”Absolute Elsewhere,” will be released, and it’s something to look forward to. This will be Blood Incantation’s first concert at Inferno Metal Festival.

AETERNUS

Norwegian Aeternus was founded back in 1993 by vocalist and guitarist Ares in Bergen. The band was one of the pioneers of dark metal, combining black metal with death metal, and hints of classical music as well as folk music. The band members have extensive experience, having played in bands like Gorgoroth, Taake, Gaahls Wyrd, Hellbutcher, and Phantom Fire. Aeternus has released nine albums to date. The latest is called ”Philosopher” and came out last year. Thus, it is time to bring the band back to Oslo, where they haven’t played since Inferno 2013.

SETH

Formed in 1995, SETH is highly regarded as the pioneers of French black metal. Since then, the band has released six albums, an EP, and a live album. Already on July 14, we can add a new album to the list, as ‘La France des maudits’ will be released. The band has only played in Norway once before, and that was back in 2005, also at Inferno Metal Festival. It is a pleasure to have the band back after twenty years.

ABYSSIC

Abyssic is a Norwegian band that plays a unique form of funeral death-doom, with black metal influences. Their signature is enhanced by orchestrations and upright bass. It all started back in 1997 under the name Abyssic Dreams, but little was done. In 2012-13, Memnock (Susperia), Elvorn (Susperia), and André Aaslie (Funeral) revived the band—now simply as Abyssic. Together with Asgeir Mickelson (Ex-Borknagar, Ihsahn), they recorded the debut album ”A Winter’s Tale” in 2016. In 2016, Tjodalv (Susperia, Ex-Dimmu Borgir, Old Man’s Child) and Makhashanah (Asagraum) joined Abyssic. This will be the band’s first concert at Inferno Metal Festival.

SPECTRAL WOUND

Québec horde Spectral Wound plays black metal. Furious and visceral, untrammeled by esoteric posture or grasping idealism. It is music for the poisoned, the futile, the debauched and profane. The blooming of a flower of corruption, torn by cold winds. The Canadians will be unleashing their fourth studio album, ‘Songs Of Blood and Mire,’ on August 23, 2024, delivering an elegy of the void, seething with the venom and clamor of an ever-emptying world.

ANGIST

Angist is a blackened death metal band from Reykjavik, Iceland. The band was founded by Edda and Gyða back in 2009. After creating a two-track demo the following year, they recorded the EP ‘Circle of Suffering’ in 2011. After playing several high-profile concerts and festivals in the following years, the band went into hibernation in 2017. Angist has now awakened from their slumber and is working on their debut album. This will be Angist’s first time playing in Norway.

BYTHOS

Bythos is a Finnish black metal band with members from bands like Behexen, Ajattara, Chamber of Unlight, Deathchain, and Forgotten Horror, just to name a few… the list is long. Bythos released their debut album ‘The Womb of Zero’ on Norwegian Terratur Possessions in 2020. Earlier this year, they released the follow-up ‘Chthonic Gates Unveiled’ on the same label. The band has rarely played live, so the concert at Inferno Metal Festival in 2025 will be a unique chance to see the band.

SYN

Syn is a relatively new one-man black metal band from Norway. In 2023, Syn released the debut album ‘Villfarelse’ on Norwegian Terratur Possessions. With nods to bands like Ulver and Forgotten Woods, mixed with the atmosphere of Vemod and the aggression of Gorgoroth, you might get a sense of what Syn is about. If not, you can find out at Inferno Metal Festival 2025.

VIOLENT MAGIC ORCHESTRA

With members named after classic Norwegian black metal bands and a fresh album titled ‘Death Rave,’ there is little doubt that Violent Magic Orchestra from Japan has little regard for rigid genre boundaries and rule-bound musical approaches. To such an extent that it is more natural to describe VMO as a visual art and music project rather than a traditional band. Well-suited with descriptions like ‘Kraftwerk gone black metal’ and ‘Blackened Aphex Twin,’ Violent Magic Orchestra shatters the boundaries between club and concert formats in a spectacle that simply MUST be experienced live when they play in Norway for the first time.

KINGCROW Release Thrilling Second Single + Video ‘Night Drive’

For the past two decades, KINGCROW have flown at the forefront of Italy’s progressive metal scene. But on the band’s new album, Hopium, they dive down a rabbit hole into a world where dreams are just illusions. Their new single, “Night Drive”, drifts slowly before revving into madness.

Hopium is out August 23 on Season of Mist.

From the clubs of Italy all the way to the global stage, Kingcrow have always soared above the fray. But “Night Drive” is rooted in escape. Like a cinematic thriller, the song’s eerily hypnotic acoustics and sedate electronic pulse escalate into slithery grooves, slamming synths and a chaotic, headbanging guitar solo. It’s the perfect soundtrack for a dark night of the soul.

The video for “Night Drive” was directed by Riccardo Nifosi and Devilnax. It stars the actress Federica Zongoli, alongside Kingcrow’s vocalist Diego Marchesi.

5. Losing Game (5:28)

The first incarnation of the band  was originally founded in Rome, Italy, by brothers Diego Cafolla (guitars) and Manuel Thundra Cafolla (drums) under the name of “Earth Shaker”.

Inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s poem “Raven” and driven by a will of change, the band’s name was soon altered into KINGCROW and a couple of self-produced demos/albums where recorded under the KINGCROW moniker: Something Unknown(2001), Insider (2004) and Timetropia (2006).

In the early months of 2010 the band finished recording their new album “Phlegethon” that was released in June of the same year under the “Scarlet Records” label.

It was considered on an international level as a relevant masterpiece and was classed as one of the elite progressive metal albums of the year. It has been near the top of the “album of the year” charts in some international prog-rock websites. Phlegethon promotion lasted for about two years and a half.

During the same year, the band recorded the new album “In Crescendo” that was released in February 2013 by the American label “Sensory Records.

The band toured  along with Pain Of Salvation in North America  in April and May, 2013. In 2015 the band released the album “Eidos” and toured Europe as Headliners. Meanwhile KINGCROW signed a management deal with GlassVille Music, house of very well known progressive acts like Pain Of Salvation and Riverside among others.

The band recorded the new album titled “The Persistence”.

The album was released on September 7th via Sensory Records and received great reviews and ended on a lot of “best of 2018” lists on magazines and webzines.

The upcoming album “Hopium” marks another step forward in pushing boundaries remarking the restless progressive  attitude of the band in incorporating countless influences into a personal sound.

Describing the band today is quite a difficult task, but one could state that the influence of different kinds of music, from progressive rock , ambient music, alternative rock and metal are all present in the music of KINGCROW.

With each release KINGCROW has taken a step further away from their original roots and is regarded today as one of the most exciting bands that Italy has to offer.
