BLITZKRIEG to Release New Self-Titled Album on September 6th, Unleash First Single ‘The Spider’

Unrepentantly flying the flag for Classic British Metal since the release of their 1981 “Blitzkrieg/Buried Alive” demo, BLITZKRIEG were a pivotal influence on countless heavy metal bands for decades to come: most notably, Metallica, who released a cover of the band’s eponymous track “Blitzkrieg” both on the “Garage Inc” compilation album, and as a B-side on their 1984 single “Creeping Death”.

Formed in Leicester in late 1980 by lead vocalist Brian Ross (who remains at the helm of the band to this day), the band would take a four-year hiatus when Ross left to join NWOBHM legends Satan, recording their classic album “Court In The Act” (Roadrunner) and touring extensively, before reuniting with bassist Mick Moore to form Avenger.

1985 saw the release of Blitzkrieg’s long-awaited debut album “A Time Of Changes” on legendary British label Neat Records, which remains a cult classic to this day. Further success would follow with 1991’s “Ten Years Of Blitzkrieg” (Roadrunner) and a three-album deal in 1995 with Neat Records.

The band continued to champion Classic Metal throughout the turbulent 2000s, with albums like 2002’s “Absolute Power” (Hellion) and 2007’s “Theatre Of The Damned” (Armageddon), the latter of which was co-produced by Saxon frontman Biff Byford after Blitzkrieg opened for Saxon on their UK tour the year prior. All the while, the band remained a mainstay on the international festival circuit, with appearances at Wacken, Headbangers Open Air, Keep It True, Hard Rock Hell and countless others, along with regular tours in four continents.

Returning from a hiatus in the wake of their critically acclaimed releases “Back From Hell” and “Judge Not”, Blitzkrieg are as vital, powerful and ferocious as the day they were founded over 40 years ago. Long time members Alan Ross (son of Brian Ross) and powerhouse drummer Matt Graham are joined by bassist Liam Ferguson and virtuoso guitarist and producer Nick Jennison. Their new album “Blitzkrieg” is set for release in summer 2024 via Mighty Music, and if early previews are to be believed, is their best work since 1985.

“Blitzkrieg” will be released on CD, LP (black, green and red vinyl versions available, each limited to 200 copies) and digital on September  6th, 2024 via Mighty Music. Pre-orders are available here.

WORMED Release And Stream New Album “Omegon”, Out Today

Dimensional rifts tear asunder; the primordial echoes rend the silence of the cosmos. From the uncharted depths of Sci-Fi Tech Death Metal ascends a leviathan of sound and fury—WORMED. This ensemble of cosmic architects now heralds the arrival of Omegon, a journey that defies the constraints of space-time and thrusts listeners into the heart of ancient interstellar conflict.

At the narrative core lies Krighsu, a hacker of timelines ensnared by the very fabric of cosmic dissonance. The saga unfolds across nine meticulously composed tracks, each a portal into dimensions where existential truths clash and the essence of reality bends. From the chaotic zenith of AUTOMATON VIRTULAGUE to the prophetic whispers of PROTOGOD and the gravitational vortex of PLEOVERSE OMNINERTIA, Omegon weaves an intricate nexus of cosmic lore.

Prepare to transpose your consciousness beyond the terrestrial sphere and into an astral plane where time is but a malleable construct. Each track on Omegon showcases WORMED‘s unassailable prowess in the tech death metal domain, sculpting aural landscapes that defy the boundaries of imagination.

The full cosmic album can be streamed now on the Season of Mist YouTube channel:

Omegon is out today, Friday, July 5 on Season of Mist.

Space – the final frontier. Yet, when WORMED reach out into the void, the results sound far more like a dark space opera inhabited by bizarre aliens, genetically and technically evolved meta-humans struggling for power and survival in galactic empires. Now, the nano-technological war has been unleashed in the void to defeat the last sower of human life, Krighsu!

Odd-time signatures, avalanches of breaks and complex rhythmical as well as melodic patterns will excite every aficionado of extreme technicality, while growls down-tuned strings and double-bass assaults will more than satisfy extreme metal connoisseurs. While being outstandingly skilled musicians WORMED are avoiding any self-indulgent show of prowess for its own sake. Instead, the five-piece from Madrid clearly lays its emphasis on creating atmospheric songs, which develop and grow along the underlying story.

Originating from Spain’s capital Madrid in 1998, WORMED immediately made an impact in the death metal scene with the release of their ‘Floating Cadaver in the Monochrome’ MCD (1999). Following a promo CD under the title ‘Voxel Mitosis’ (2001), the first studio album ‘Planisphaerium’ received high acclaim by critics and fans alike in 2003. In the wake of their debut full-length, the Spanish received invitations to international festival shows and touring around the globe. WORMED performed in Japan alongside GORATORY and VOMIT REMNANTS and afterwards hit Europe with MALIGNANCY and DESPONDENCY.

A creative hiatus, partly due to line-up changes and filled with re-issues of their previous released as well as the single ‘Quasineutrality’ (2010) finally ended, when their sophomore album ‘Exodromos’ came out in 2013. On their third full-length ‘Krighsu’ (2016), the fast-rising Spanish Sci-Fi tech death prodigies are telling a dystopian cosmic story with lyrics and music joined into an overarching concept. Its intense brutality, dissonant dynamic riffing, and tremendous heaviness combined with an amazing futuristic concept, which introduced the character Krighsu – last human in the cosmos, harvested top reviews and saw WORMED headlining in the US and co-headlining in Europe.

In the summer of 2019, WORMED brought their ultra-technical cosmic sonic onslaught to new heights on their 4-track EP ‘Metaportal’, released through Season of Mist. Praised as a monstrously satisfying addition to their catalogue, the EP bridged the gap between their previously released 2016 ‘Krighsu’ and their newest project. Atmospheric yet faithful to the skull-crushing mindboggling textures they’ve given fans over the years, ‘Metaportal’ allowed WORMED to come to terms with the loss of Guillermo Calero in 2018 and move forward.

On ‘Omegon’, WORMED’s upcoming 2024 release, they continue the story of Krigshu, a timeline hacker entangled in manipulation by cosmic forces. As viciously as the aggression they bring on their technically impressive instruments, Krigshu battles his way to unlock the mysteries of Omegon, a mysterious cosmic substance holding ultimate power. With 9 tracks of ultimate interstellar chaos, a story unfolds and WORMED prove yet again that they reign supreme on the technical death metal genre.

A FOREST MIGHTY BLACK Announce New Album “The Hedonist”, Release First Single ‘Birdman’

On September 6, 2024, Stoner Rock outfit A Forest Mighty Black will release their brand new full-length record “The Hedonist” via Go Down Records.

The band’s sophomore studio album represents the closure of a circle, compared to what was previously produced – the band experiments with new sounds, while remaining consistent with its origins. The lyrics explore universal themes concerning existence, reflecting on the complexity of human nature, society, and emotions. It’s like an introspective journey, with different nuances.

“The Hedonist” invites the listener to consider the relative essence of good and evil, which are not absolute concepts but rather linked to the context of our individual lives. Each track represents a leg of the journey, where characters’ stories and situations have highly blurred and ambiguous boundaries between right and wrong.

With the track ‘Birdman’ A Forest Mighty Black have unleashed the first single off the upcoming album today. Listen to the track here:

The band comments: “Birdman is about a man’s strong desire to fly, which he achieves with the help of a scientist who amputates his limbs and grafts majestic wings onto him with sinister precision. Transforming into an angel is both wondrous and terrible, bringing joy and suffering. We aimed to express this dual nature in our music by crafting somber atmospheres that are occasionally distressing yet ultimately allow a sense of hope to shine through.“

Tracklist:
1. Animals & Warriors
2. Birdman
3. Mental Maze
4. Ocean Beats
5. The Gambler
6. Mantra Chant
7. The Night The Stars Went Off
8. Grave Digger

“The Hedonist” will be coming out on September 6 via Go Down Records and is available for pre-order at THIS LOCATION

A Forest Mighty Black are:
Costin Bursuc | vocals
Enrico Romeo | guitars
Gabriele Manna | guitars
Nicola Frigo | bass
Sebastiano Cavazza | drums

Ex AC/DC Drummer Chris Slade Resigned on The Spot & Devastated When Band Was Trying Out Phil Rudd

Posted by metalshockfinland on July 5, 2024
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: Chris Slade, The Chris Slade Timeline, The Metal Voice. Leave a comment

Jimmy Kay from The Metal Voice recently spoke to former AC/DC, Manfred Mann Earth Band, The Firm drummer Chris Slade. Slade talks about his new album THE CHRIS SLADE TIMELINE “Timescape”. The album will be released worldwide on July 19th. “

Timescape” contains completely original new tracks and some of Chris Slade’s  favorite covers.

Also in the chat Slade talks about the various stories and inner workings of the bands he played with over the years.

When asked about the misunderstood lyrics of Manfred Mann Earth Bands cover of Bruce Springsteen  ‘Blinded by the light’ was it  Douche or Deuce or Wrapped
“Yes and that came about by accident because Chris Thompson the singer of Earth band at that time. He has a New Zealand accent and the recording head was not set up properly so it made everything very sibilant and he was saying Deuce. We didn’t know what the lyrics were by the way we made the lyrics up you know and we’d sat around for hours going what do you think? We we’re writing down literally around a record player the whole band going uh what do you think that line was? Let’s do it line by line okay. So I came up with, for that line, I came up with ‘wrapped up like a deuce’. Like when you you wrap your hand playing cards that’s maybe a British saying but you wrap it you throw it away like it’s good, it’s a terrible hand. We could not make out and I know the lyrics are now ‘revved up like a deuce’ so I I got the R right. But when you hear Springsteen original  we just couldn’t make out what it was because there were no lyrics printed on the on sleeve and how do you get a hold of Bruce Springsteen?”

When asked about his AC/DC audition
“I went to the audition with ACDC and uh no pressure Angus and Malcolm (Young) put their chairs 10 feet in front of the bass drum and went okay uh Back in Black (play it) looking straight at me, no pressure at all of course (laugh). Basically  It was like learn these songs like um Back In Black I can’t remember the rest of them. They were about three or four classic songs of ACDC and then at the end they went well can you learn song (new song) this just take us take as long as you like. So I did it in about 20 minutes. They sat there with no expression with their guitars on their laps. They were playing Back in Black along with me.  Those guys, Angus and Malcolm they don’t talk you know they didn’t they just used to look at each other and they knew exactly what each other was thinking.  I promise you it’s uncanny never seen anything like it with anybody else. They wouldn’t even make a sort of quizzical  expression. None of that they just looked at each other and then they looked away. Brian (Johnson) was singing but he was over there somewhere and uh Cliff (Williams) was also there he was over there somewhere but they (Angus and Malcom) were 10 feet from the bass drum.”

When asked about his contributions to the song Thunderstruck
“Well I went boom boom on thunderstruck. Bruce Fairbairn (Producer) wanted that. I had to overdub that quite a lot, he asked me if I could  overdub on that one just go boom boom when they go Thun-der. I go yes and he looked to be he’s like are you sure? And it’s like to me it’s a walk in the park and to many drummer that would just be a walk in the park. So I don’t know why Bruce was  surprised that I could do it and do it as many times as he wanted to get as big a sound as he wanted. “

When asked about the inner workings of AC/DC that he learned about
“It was Malcolm’s band. It’s not Brian Johnson’s band it’s not Angus’s band it was Malcolm’s band, he ran the show musically and any other way I suppose.  Angus had the input with the the songwriting of course.  Malcolm was a genius guitarist, the best Rhythm player I have ever worked an absolute genius. He was always on time and he just played fantastically well and made my job so easy. “

When asked about working with Axl Rose
” I was amazed at the the way Axel sounded actually. I didn’t know he had that voice  and he used to warm up before show for two hours every day and warm down for an hour afterwards. I know cuz I was next door to him He’d have his piano there and he’d be playing the scales and singing the scales and so he was very much concerned about his voice and the way he sung. and he sung great.”

Why asked about how he felt when he quit AC/DC
“Malcolm called me he says nothing you not doing, nothing you haven’t done but we’re going to trying out Phil (Rudd) on drums and I thought well that’s me gone. I said to him that’s me gone, well because  if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it is exactly what I said to him. So I resigned on the spot. I was devastated that’s why I resigned. I was doing demos for Ball Breaker at the time, just Demos in a studio. So I’ve been working with them for like  two three months already on those demo most and uh this came out of the blue it’s just a thunderbolt out of the blue.”

Chris Slade launched the band ‘THE CHRIS SLADE TIMELINE’ in 2012 to mark 50+ years as a professional rock drummer. For this project, Slade took on phenomenal vocalists STEVE GLASSCOCK and PAUL “BUN” DAVIS with the added stunning musical techniques of guitarist JAMES CORNFORD along with keyboard and guitar player MICHAEL J. CLARK you most certainly have a band to be reckoned with and worthy to mark Slade’s illustrious musical career.

This is a concept for Slade that will include performances from a varied set list from Tom Jones, Manfred Mann’s Earthband, Uriah Heep, The Firm, ASIA, MSG, David Gilmour, Gary Moore along with a fair degree of AC/DC numbers and many surprises to be unwrapped along the way.

“After all these years recording and playing with some of the world’s greatest rock musicians such as Tom Jones, Manfred Mann’s Earthband, Gary Moore, Gary Numan, Denny Laine, Jimmy Page, Paul Rodgers, David Gilmour, Uriah Heep, Asia and of course AC/DC.

THE CHRIS SLADE TIMELINE is:
Paul “Bun” Davis vocals
Stevie Gee vocals, Bass
James Cornford guitar, vocals
Mike Clarke Keyboards, guitar, vocals
Chris Slade Drums, vocals
