FALLEN ARISE is celebrating 15 years of life this year; 15 years of non-stop music as they chase their dreams!
After taking their first steps in their hometown of Athens and other cities in Greece, FALLEN ARISE crossed the borders in 2016 beginning a journey of international touring performances and European festivals. They have had the luck and the honor to tour with bands like Fates Warning, Paradise Lost, Aephanemer etc., to “open” shows for Nightwish, Moonspell, Civil War, Serenity, Xandria, and to participate in festivals like Metal Days, Hammerfest, ArtMania, Seawolves Bike Fest, Rock’n’Iasi and many more.

FALLEN ARISE’s performance will be supported by NightKill, a brand new heavy band of musicians with a strong history in the field including Costas Varras with his personal band “Varras”, a guitar hero of neoclassical metal with two decades of career.

ENSIFERUM to Release “Winter Storm” Full-Length Album on October 18th

ENSIFERUM will release their long-awaited new studio album, Winter Storm, on October 18th through Metal Blade Records.

The Finnish folk-metal melodeath sensation has maintained a prolific release schedule since their first demo in 1997, gradually increasing in stature until eighth album Thalassic crowned their ascent in 2020. The nautical opus went on to top Finland’s album chart, reaching #3 in Germany, and top ten in Switzerland, Canada, and the United States. Eventually, ENSIFERUM would take Thalassic on two massive world tours and to festivals like Wacken, Hellfest, Summer Breeze, and Ragnarök, but the global Covid pandemic ensured that the four-year wait for Winter Storm would be the longest in the band’s near-thirty-year history.

Much of the new material emerged in the lockdown era, when ENSIFERUM‘s founding guitarist Markus Toivonen set himself the challenge of finding new ways to make music — eventually composing every song except the rousing, anthemic “Fatherland,” written by bassist Sami Hinkka. The addition of singer/organist Pekka Montin’s crystal-clear melodic high notes provided a tremendous boost on Thalassic. But on Winter Storm — a fantasy concept narrative penned by Hinkka — Montin’s super-strong voice finds its optimal place in ENSIFERUM‘s sound. Bringing to life such grandiose, heroic material, the singer emerges as one of the greatest vocal discoveries of the decade.

“The way I see it, this album is more like a ‘musical’ than a traditional album,” says Hinkka. “The lyrics of Winter Storm are based on part of my unpublished fantasy book. One day it will be out… I don’t want to reveal the plot or details too much but ‘Winter Storm Vigilantes’ and ‘Fatherland’ tell of two factions in this long tale. The Vigilantes have gained knowledge to utilize certain rare elements, and even though there was already magic in this world, with this new epiphany they have reached a completely new level. This element seems to interact with living things in a way that even the wisest men don’t completely understand. And through generations of trial and error, they have refined a skill to expose their horses to the element and managed to break the law of gravity, making their steeds fly. But they became ruthless and greedy on their quest to gain more of this element. A small tribe in the north keep on fighting for their land, which the Vigilantes plan to take over. These North Folks will literally fight until the last man…

“Other characters include a Vigilante castaway, the last shaman of the North Folk, and a mysterious widow. The album ends with a great battle against the Vigilantes and the unholy alliance of the castaway and the North Folk shaman, who has transcended into a spirit wolf. Who will prevail? Will this be the final battle of the book? Time will tell… I understand that all this sounds very far out — well, it is a fantasy book — but believe me, it will be truly an epic story!“

Adds Hinkka of ENSIFERUM‘s first single from the offering, “Winter Storm Vigilantes,” “Markus had quite grandeur visions of the song and it turned out to be even more heroic than we expected. It was an obvious choice to open the new album. This epic song serves as one faction of the big story. The song pushes forward with the might of a thousand horses and will surely be a great song in the future setlist.”

ENSIFERUM‘s Winter Storm was produced by Janne Joutsenniemi, mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren, and includes guest appearances by Lassi Logrén on Nyckelharpa and violin and Mikko Mustonen on orchestration as well as Eleine’s Madeleine Liljestam who provides all vocals on “Scars In My Heart.”

ALIAS NOONE Release Second Single ‘Into Nothing’ from Upcoming Debut Album

Finnish melodic death metallers ALIAS NOONE have released their second single ‘Into Nothing’ from the upcoming debut album “Weight of the World”.

Into Nothing is a song about the pending end of human race. We still think that we are king of the hill so to speak but the planet will erradicate us when it needs to heal. There was civilisations before us and there will be after us. We as humans will go into the dark beyond and in the end fall into nothing.

The upcoming album Weight of the World was recorded during 2023-24 at the D-Studios in multiple sessions. The album contains 8 songs that are powerful and melodic without losing the Alias Noone signature heavyness and groove. All the songs contain so much more hooks than before. Every song tells you something about the weight of the world and the things that are pushing us down in modern society.

The production is top notch and the sound is bigger than in Alias Noone’s previous releases.

“We wanted to push the sound as big as possible without losing the things that make us sound the way we do” tells the band. the synths and programming is done by Jarno Hänninen from the band Dead End Finland. Jarno is the producer and engineer as well. “We wanted to bring some more melody to the songs and Jarno was the right man for the job. We also brought in Saara Nurmela to do some vocals in few of the songs. She has such a great range so we got so much more textures in the lead and backing vocals” Saara is featured in the songs Shadowkeep, Left Behind and Final Salute.

When asked about who will love the album, the band tells that the sound is a mixture of Dark Tranquillity, Insomnium, In Flames, Amorphis, Sentenced and more without sounding exactly any of them. “We think our sound is ours, but if you want to put a label on it then the more melodic side of melodic death metal is the closest. There are so much different things in our songs but metal fans will love the album.”

ESCALATION Stream Debut Album “Ruins of the Falling World” Ahead of Release

ESCALATION is a quite fresh band on the Polish metal scene. It was formed in 2020 in Silesian city – Dąbrowa Górnicza. A year later, they released debut EP titled “Before We Fall” which was well-received by music critics as well as listeners. After a few years of working, the band is going to release debut album and presents its more mature side. The music on this record is honest, uncompromising, and exciting. Modern sound combined with raw arrangements gives a truly explosive mix!

“Ruins of the Falling World” was recorded at HUGEstudio (Grief Circle, Formis, Czort). Guest guitar in “Embrace of Darkness” was played by Argentinian, Lisandro Villalba. The whole was mixed and mastered by Piotr Zubko who cooperated in the past with Warfist. Cover artwork was done by Katarzyna Jakubska from Dark Descent Design. Band logo by Karolina Ambicka while band photo by Natalia Kłaptocz.

MORTIIS Announces BRIGHTER DEATH NOW as Direct Support for Upcoming Tour, Announces Additional Dates

Dungeon synth master MORTIIS is pleased to welcome BRIGHTER DEATH NOW as direct support for the upcoming North American “The Dungeons are Calling” headlining tour, who will be performing parts of his “Necrose Evangelicum” album from 1995 for this tour for the first time! The band will join from the tour kickoff through the Los Angeles stop on September 21. Local openers will also be added, which are handpicked by Mortiis himself!

In addition, a performance has been added to Albuquerque, NM to the previously announced routing and has updated venues in Los Angeles, CA and Houston, TX. The tour will be in celebration of MORTIIS’ seminal 1993 album, ‘Født Til Å Herske,’ which played a significant role in popularizing the dungeon synth genre and was re-recorded in 2023. MORTIIS live soundscape will be accompanied with visuals created by renowned artist and illustrator David Thierree, known for his work with Mortiis, Behemoth, and others.

Crimson Glory, an American heavy metal band that formed in 1983 in Sarasota, Florida, USA. Their journey began in 1979 under the name Pierced Arrow, then evolved into Beowulf, before they finally settled on Crimson Glory.
