ABHORIA Share New Music Video ‘The Inexorable Earth’

ABHORIA have shared a new music video for The Inexorable Earth. The Inexorable Earth is taken from the US dystopian black metal band’s latest full-length, Depths, which was released earlier this year via Prosthetic Records, and follows their recent spring tour in support of the album.

Stream Depths via Apple Music | TIDAL | Deezer | Bandcamp and Spotify

Speaking on The Inexorable Earth, Trevor Portz (guitar) comments: “The Inexorable Earth is ABHORIA in its purest form: relentless, blast-beat driven black metal with some melodic and death metal flourishes. This was the first song specifically written for Depths, and lays out the story that the album follows: Someone who has been locked inside, ignoring the nightmare that their world has become, finally ventures out… and it’s even worse than they expected. While it’s certainly not a political song, it was definitely influenced by the limitless destruction humans are hellbent on delivering to the planet and their fellow inhabitants. Pay close attention to Ben’s scream in the middle, which is insanely long and was done in one breath!”

While the groundwork for the lyrical content on Depths was laid in the dystopian-inspired songs of its predecessor, founder Trevor Portz’s vision is more fully realized on their second full-length. Whilst not quite a concept album, there is a thread that runs between each track; each unveils a different extreme scenario or revelatory terror for the surviving inhabitants in a hellish world. The nightmarish anthology details different Orwellian scenarios where the human condition is laid bare with all its ugly possibilities offered up for examination. How do they react when confronted with nearly inconceivable adverse events? How do extreme conditions shape their view of the world and of themselves?”

The band was inspired by many real life locations and situations, allowing their imaginations to embellish further fictional details to bring their bleak visions to life. The ominous, fantastical realm where ABHORIA’s storytelling exists is brought to life further still by the magnificent cover art by iconic artist, Dan Seagrave.

Standout track, The Well, tells the tale of a group of refugees escaping a compromised city in the aftermath of a war. Exhausted, dehydrated and losing hope, they come across a natural water source. Relieved, their thirst is slaked… but the relief is temporary, as they soon discover the water is tainted. Only one among their number doesn’t drink from the poisoned “well,” thus forced to watch helplessly as their friends perish agonizingly. The story was inspired by Montezuma Well in Arizona, where there is a high level of arsenic in the water, rendering it a tantalizingly dangerous prospect for many generations of people.

A reinvigorated line up has instilled a newfound confidence in the core members of ABHORIA. The result is an album rooted in the aggressive black metal core of its predecessor, but with new flourishes that push the boundaries of the band. Whilst recording took place in various locations, the resulting nine tracks are a cohesive, dynamic collection masterfully mixed by Zack Ohren. A fine balance of melody and intensity makes the album a compelling listen; for fans who were taken with the desolate black metal of their debut, there’s even more to embrace on Depths.

Abhoria tracklist:
1. Emergence
2. The Inexorable Earth
3. The Well
4. Within Our Dominion
5. They Hunt at Night
6. Devour
7. The Foundling
8. Ghost in the Smoke
9. Winter’s Embrace

HAIL SPIRIT NOIR Release New Single ‘Curse you, Entropia’

Greek psychedelic, progressive, black metal, experimentalists, HAIL SPIRIT NOIR, who are returning with a new studio album “Fossil Gardens” on June 28th on Agonia Records, are streaming a brand new song titled “Curse you, Entropia”. The song is available in lyric video format, here:

“Fossil Gardens” is an intense and soul-elevating experience; a musical journey to the unmistakable world of HAIL SPIRIT NOIR, and its most extreme effort to date. The band’s signature sound, defined by otherworldly melodies, vintage synths and compositional experimentation, is once again present, yet shifting towards black metal instrumentation and chaotic soundscapes, reaching next-level psychedelia.

Long time partner Dimitris Douvras (Rotting Christ, Nightstalker) and Magnus Lindberg, member of Cult of Luna and world renowned mastering engineer, handled the production duties, crafting a warm and solid sound that perfectly reverberates the band’s abstract vision. The visual side of the album was portrayed by George Baramatis (cover artwork) and Dimitris Katsenos (additional art and layout).

Taking up where “Eden in Reverse” left off, the album, thematically, focuses on the philosophical and scientific struggle to unravel the secrets of the universe and reach new states of consciousness that defy the limits of space and time.

Haris (synths) had this to say about “Fossil Gardens”: “This time we went more extreme than ever before, we used lots of blasts, screams and minimal black metal textures. Even so, I believe this is a positive album, since it revolves around the charm of our cosmos and the transcendence of space and time. Having this on mind, we went for a solid yet abstract sound production, meaning that we wanted the listener to perceive the music as a whole, not as the sum of individual parts and instruments. Some may find it different than our previous album, but if you watch closely, you’ll notice the extreme similarities.”

The group was established late 2010 as a trio and issued their debut album “Pneuma” two years later. Its warm reception strengthened the band’s experimental approach and enhanced its quirky take on music, all of which inevitably led to the release of “Oi Magoi” in 2014; a psychedelic prog-black metal opus of trippy melodies and satyric aura. Followed by “Mayhem In Blue” in 2016, the band’s signature sound was solidified, and at the same time expanded into more aggressive territories, without abandoning the group’s trademark psychedelic-infused melodies. Since 2018, the trio has been joined full-time by its live members, changing the band into a sextet. Their last album, 2020’s “Eden In Reverse”, was lauded as the next step in their ongoing evolution, with an 80s twist. In 2021, HAIL SPIRIT NOIR celebrated their 10th anniversary with a one-off, disco-driven soundtrack, “Mannequins”, which daringly plunged into synthwave & sci-fi pop aesthetics, having strayed away from the band’s typical release path.

Tracklisting:
1. Starfront Promenade
2. The Temple of Curved Space
3. Curse you, Entropia
4. The Blue Dot
5. The Road to Awe
6. Ludwig in Orbit
7. Fossil Gardens

DVRK Stream Destructive EP “Infinite Reminiscence”, Out Now

DVRK emerge with a sound that’s distinctly their own. On their very first EP, the French band fuse deathcore, nu metal, bass and mental anguish into a wildly destructive force.

Infinite Reminiscence was released yesterday, June 7th, on Season of Mist, and you can listen to all six darkly imaginative songs on the Season of Mist YouTube channel.

Order the album at https://orcd.co/infinitereminiscence

DVRK have transformed from a lone cry in the darkness to a fully-fleshed out roar. What started as a solo project back in 2019 has quickly evolved into a powder keg of a band. Peter Morgan’s visceral cries, the monstrous riffs from Bastien Deleule and Gerald Audiard, Fabien Letren’s pulsating bass and Vincent Vidal’s earth-shattering percussion – all feed into a relentless mutation.

Recorded under Deleule and Letren’s well-trained ear, Infinite Reminscence was mixed and mastered into polished chaos by Matt Thomas at Ashtone Studio, who’s also worked with Left to Suffer. The EP’s first single, “F.A.M.”, channels the band’s raw energy and intense personal experiences with depression and addiction into vivid modern metal.  “Breathless” tells the morbid story of a killer. It’s a chilling exploration that burns a hole into the darkest corners of our psyche.

With Infinite Reminscence, DVRK have hit upon a cutting-edge fusion of heavy riffs and intricate storytelling that’s bound to set their mark on today’s deathcore scene.

Tracklist
1. Distant Roads (3:12)
2. Breathless (2:26) [WATCH]
3. The Secret (2:58)
4. Paco (3:12)
5. Colors (2:48)
6. F.A.M. (3:06) [WATCH]
Total runtime: 17:43

Introducing DVRK, a powerhouse fusion of Deathcore, Nu Metal, and Bass music elements.

Notable achievements include collaborations with artists like Conquer Divide, Cove Reber, Chunk No Captain Chunk, and Hyro The Hero.

DVRK proudly signed their first EP with Season Of Mist, marking a significant milestone in their musical journey.

Greek FADING ECHOES Unveil ‘The First Step Forward’ Lyric Video

“Progressive metal fans, get ready! Melodic progressive metal force FADING ECHOES is excited to announce the release of their lyric video for “The First Step Forward” on YouTube. This single is a key track from their highly anticipated debut album, “Shadow of Another.”

“The First Step Forward” is an anthem of resilience and transformation. With themes of overcoming adversity and seeking a brighter future, the song encourages listeners to move beyond past struggles and embrace new beginnings. Its compelling lyrics, powerful vocals, and intricate instrumental arrangements create an evocative and immersive listening experience that encourages listeners to move forward despite challenges.

Fading Echoes’ debut album “Shadow of Another” showcases the band’s signature blend of melodic and progressive metal. The album features intricate compositions and profound themes, making it a must-listen for metal enthusiasts.

Fading Echoes is a progressive metal band from Volos, Greece, formed in 2019. The band members include Dimitris Stratikis (vocals and bass guitar), Vasilis Sarou (piano and keyboards), and Petros Printezis (guitars), with session musicians Jim Politis (guitars) and Nick Vell (drums). Their music is a fusion of intricate melodies, complex rhythms, and atmospheric textures, inspired by progressive metal greats like Savatage, Evergrey, Anathema, Katatonia, Opeth, and Soen.

Their debut album, “Shadow of Another,” is a melancholic and gloomy journey. Five of the eight songs form the haunting pentalogy “The Stages of Grief,” with each step being “Denial”, “Anger”, “Bargaining”, “Depression”, and “Acceptance”. This five-part composition delves deep into the complexities of loss, exploring the spectrum of emotions one may encounter while navigating the tumultuous terrain of grief. Each movement of this pentalogy is a sonic exploration of a different stage of grief, from the initial shock and denial to the eventual acceptance and resolution. Through haunting melodies, poignant harmonies, and evocative instrumentation, Fading Echoes captures the essence of each stage with remarkable depth and sensitivity.

The album features Zak Stevens (Savatage / TSO) on the song “Acceptance” and was mixed and mastered by George Constantine Kratsas.
