Cainites is the name of the new melodic death metal duo risen from the ashes of the Italian gothic-doom masters Motus Tenebrae and founded by Andrea Falaschi aka Frater Orion (Deathless Legacy), on vocals, drums and keyboards, and Daniele Ciranna, on guitar and bass.
Through their dark, gloomy melodic death metal – heavily influenced by the British and Scandinavian masters with a creepy Mediterranean twist too – Cainites create their own mystique, portraying the bloody mark they have to carry.
“Revenant” is a concept album about an old Orthodox priest who became a vampire against his will. A controversial, cruel and yet fascinating character, oscillating between a sense of abandonment by the divine and the manifestation of a faith that is still present, with continuous pleas to God to stop him from his relentless bloodshed – yearning for a redemption that cannot be reached.

The wait is over! Yestarday, June 4th, Italian bassist and composer ALBERTO RIGONI released his new solo album “Unexpected Lullabies” via Sliptrick Records, containing songs that are half sweet and half rock-metal. The album is produced and partially composed by Alberto Rigoni and it’s dedicated to Vittoria Parini Rigoni and all new born babies.

APOCALYPTICA are thrilled to announce the fourth and final exciting single from Apocalyptica Plays Metallica, Vol. 2 – the hotly-anticipated sequel to their legendary debut record. The Call of Ktulu will coincide with the album’s release, and follows on from a rapturous response to the preceding three singles: stunning reinterpretations of The Four Horsemen, The Unforgiven II, and One. Most notably, The Call of Ktulu features a truly remarkable guest: legendary Metallica bassist Cliff Burton himself.
Apocalyptica Plays Metallica Vol. 2 will continue the journey that began in 1996 when cellists from Helsinki’s world-renowned Sibelius Academy played symphonic tribute to the biggest of the big four – heavy metal titans Metallica. For their ninth record the classically-minded dynamos are returning to their roots to bring a legendary story full circle. It also features a host of surprises, including appearances by Metallica’s very own James Hetfield, Rob Trujillo, and – in a move that is sure to set the metal world alight – The Call of Ktulu, featuring the original bassline laid down by Cliff Burton, who tragically lost his life in a tour bus accident in 1986.
Apocalyptica’s The Call Of Ktulu, the original of which first appeared on Metallica’s second album – 1984 landmark Ride The Lightning – is more than just a reimagining of that defining moment in thrash history. It represents a resounding seal of approval given by Metallica and the family of Cliff Burton themselves, who were all enthusiastically behind the idea. It also serves as a powerful tribute to a legendary bassist whose colossal musical legacy lives on.
“I’ve learned in life that if you have crazy ideas it’s always worth asking, so I called Lars!” says Apocalyptica founder Eicca Toppinen. “He was like, ‘I love that you guys always think outside of the box!’ James (Hetfield) loved the idea, and I met one of Cliff’s close relatives and she did, too. It was a spiritual experience working on this. We wanted to treat this with honour and maximum respect, and it was magical to have people so close to Cliff say that he would have loved it.”
Apocalyptica Plays Metallica Vol. 2 was produced by longtime collaborator and studio supremo Joe Barresi (Queens of the Stone Age, Soundgarden, Nine Inch Nails, Tool) and will be released via new label Throwdown Entertainment on June 7th.

MODERN RITES are the Industrial Metal duo of guitarist Berg (AARA) and multi-instrumentalist/vocalist/lyricist Jonny Warren (KUYASHII). Building upon acclaimed 2021 debut “Monuments“, new album “Endless” unifies, elevates and perfects the band’s vision, ebbing and flowing between oppressive isolation and furious optimism in an anthemically intense exploration of the human condition.
Tracklist:
01. Prelude 02. Endless 03. Lost Lineage 04. Veil of Opulence 05. Becoming 06. For Nothing 07. Autonomy 08. Philosophenweg
The album was mixed and mastered by Simón Da Silva at The Empty Hall Studio. Cover design is by Jonny Warren.
Composer Jonny Warren discusses new album “Endless” and the enigmatic cover artwork:
“The title of the album sums up the idea behind the record. The lyrics in both the title track and album encompass themes around cycles of self-discovery, historical repetition, and ideological conflict. Each song marks milestones along a pathway that loops into itself as humanity is locked into an ebb and flow with each passing era. The aesthetic changes between the two cover artworks were a more organic evolution as we wrote more and more for the album. We knew we wanted to build upon the foundation of the first album, which in a metaphorical sense meant stepping outside of that sterile structure we built and surveying the landscape around it. For the artwork, we wanted imagery that represented the more human moments of contemplation and longing present throughout the album, where previously the artwork of the first album depicted a monument containing the inner self.“
Listen to ‘Endless‘, the title song of the new record, on DMP‘s YouTube channel:
Jonny Warren further shares insights into the creation of ‘Endless‘:
“While exploring ideas for the album, we knew we wanted richer harmonies and more synth presence, so a lot of ideas started on keyboard first. The title track started with a piano version where I explored the initial chords and melodies. I then created bass, synth, and programmed drum parts based on the piano progression. The part that’s now in the pre-chorus and bridge was actually the intro at first, but we decided to chop up the original structure to create a more “grand” feeling overall.
Compared to the first album, there was a lot more virtual back and forth between Berg and I as we had a lot more layers to work with. We would often wake up to new contributions that each of us made to a song and then chat throughout our overlapping waking hours on ways to improve it. Additionally, I played bass in C-standard this time to match Berg’s guitars, where previously I was in E-standard. I think this gave some of the riffs a bigger impact compared to last time.
Finally, we owe a lot of thanks to Simón at Empty Hall Studio for creating cohesiveness with the mix and bringing our vision to life with the overall atmosphere.“
“Endless” will be released on CD, vinyl and digital on August 30th. Pre-orders are possible via the label’s EU, US and Bandcamp shops.
MODERN RITES is an Industrial-rooted, melodic Black Metal duo founded in Autumn 2020 by guitarist Berg of Swiss Atmospheric Black Metal band AARA and multi-instrumentalist/vocalist/visual artist Jonny Warren of US Experimental Metal band KUYASHII.
Born out of experimentation and a mutual respect for each other’s craft, the pair began trading tracks across borders with the goal of creating a unique sound which would transcend cultural barriers. At the core of MODERN RITES is Jonny‘s heavily distorted bass sound inspired by dark Industrial music of the ’90s. The diverging, stereo bass paths create a desolate landscape in which Berg’s guitars are free to open portals into dark atmospheres.
Exploring the bleaker aspects of the human condition, lyrical themes dive into psychology, isolation, conflict, and the ever-evolving shadow self.
Impressed by MODERN RITES‘ quality and originality, Debemur Morti Productions released “Monuments“, a debut album which sets a vast, winding aural path for further experimentation to come, in 2021.
Building upon acclaimed debut, forthcoming album “Endless” unifies, elevates and perfects the band’s vision, ebbing and flowing between oppressive isolation and furious optimism in an anthemically intense exploration of the human condition. “Endless” is set to release on August 30th, 2024.
Finnish metal band Autumn’s Grief released a new single Dead Among the Living on June 5th 2024 via Inverse Records. The track is taken from the upcoming third album ‘Dead Among The Living’ which is released on October 25th 2024 by Inverse Records.
The band comments: “Dead Among the Living is a story of a hidden love that stays in the shadows, silenced and unable to reveal itself. Dead Among the Living is the title song and the first single release from our upcoming third album which is also named ‘Dead Among the Living’.”

CATEGORY 7, the new heavy metal collective featuring the all-star lineup of John Bush (Armored Saint, Anthrax), Mike Orlando (Adrenaline Mob, Sonic Universe, Noturnall), Phil Demmel (Machine Head, Kerry King, Vio-Lence), Jack Gibson (Exodus), and Jason Bittner (Shadows Fall, Overkill), today unleashes their latest single, “Exhausted.” The track comes by way of the band’s self-titled debut full-length, set for release on July 26th through Metal Blade Records.
Named after the numerical designation for the most powerful windstorms, CATEGORY 7 came together from a batch of musicians who strived to play music they loved and weren’t hearing elsewhere and wanted to do so with bandmates they enjoyed being with. Together, the band has created an album that is fresh and familiar; a new breed of metal that lives up to the storied histories of its members. The mixture of NWOBHM, thrash, punk-metal, and traditional metal is cohesive and sonically rewarding, establishing an eclectic musical backdrop for vocalist John Bush’s instantly identifiable vocals. At the same time, the diversity of styles creates its own template that’s ideal for headbanging, moshing, and voluble sing-alongs.
“It’s all about big verses and big songs, and it has a lot of the elements we’ve explored in our other bands,” notes guitarist and main songwriter Mike Orlando.
In advance of the record’s release, the band delivers their second single, the propulsive, piledriver “Exhausted,” which features the blazing twin lead guitar assault of Demmel and Orlando, a punchy riff, and hammering thrash beats that climax with another unforgettable chorus.
Comments Bush, “Insomnia happens more frequently as I’ve aged. Usually in connection with nightly visits to the loo. The frustration to just slumber and dream only makes matters worse. This is all a little exaggerated for me ’cause people truly struggle with this, using medication or whatever remedy will hopefully solve the problem. Truth be told, my primary goal is to avoid all those deep dark thoughts in the middle of the night that seem to grow because I just can’t sleep. Zillion? Mr. Cooper.”
