Greek KHIRKI Premiere New Video Single ‘Your Majesty’ from Upcoming Album

April 12, 2024 sees Greek heavy rock act KHIRKI release their much-awaited, sophomore studio album “Κυκεώνας” via Venerate Industries.

This time drawing inspiration from the legendary sorceress Circe from Homer’s Odyssey, the band continues to captivate audiences with their unique blend of Rock’n’Roll and seductive Greek Folk. Despite the challenges of creating a sophomore album, KHIRKI has managed to uphold their very own mixture of sounds, while also expanding their musical horizons. “Κυκεώνας” weaves mythological tales with traditional instruments, proggy twists, captivating choruses, bass-heavy beats, 70s rock vibes, and powerful metal riffs, creating an intoxicating musical experience. Give ear, as today, the Athens-based trio has shared a brand new video single! A visualizer clip for “Your Majesty” is now premiering here:

“We love the proto-metal scene of the 70s and bands like Rainbow, Black Sabbath, and Judas Priest,” says the band about their new single. “‘Your Majesty’ is a tribute from us to the sound of that era that changed the music world forever. The lyrics constitute the anti-war speech of a knight who has the courage and audacity to speak bluntly to his king, during his own accolade. He condemns and rejects the system in the most dramatic way: having excelled within it. Of course, he pays for it with his life, hence the sound of the guillotine at the end. Enjoy!”

For the recordings of “Κυκεώνας”, KHIRKI once again collaborated with renowned producer Theodore Zefkilis (Rotting Christ, Planet of Zeus & many more), capturing the essence of their sound in Athens during the Spring of 2023. The album artwork was beautifully crafted by Manster Design, enhancing the visual representation of the band’s music.

HERO IN ERROR Release New Self Titled EP, Out Now

Posted by tarjavirmakari on April 6, 2024

Following the release of their crushing new single ‘Enemy Within’, Hero In Error are back with the their first studio release since 2017’s ‘Obey’ EP. With a four year hiatus now behind them, the five-piece are pleased to present their self-titled EP ‘Hero In Error‘ featuring three blistering new tracks, including lead single, ‘Enemy Within’.

Featuring Kaan Tasan (Heart of a Coward) on vocals, guitarist’s Gary Reagan and Rob Powderly, bassist Jay Doyle and drummer, Stephen Reilly, the blistering new energy form the band is evident when experiencing the all consuming power of the three-track EP.

Their journey began with the release of their debut EP produced by Justin Hill, “The High Points of New Lows,” in 2010, a project that captured the attention of the local metal scene, and led to their signing with Mediaskare Records in the U.S. the following year.

Speaking of the last single, ‘Enemy Within’ guitarist, Rob Powerly says; “Enemy Within is one of those songs that just happened organically for us. We stumbled upon a riff that sounded cool, and from there, the rest of the song fell into place effortlessly. While we did make some adjustments during the guitar tracking process, the essence of the song remained unchanged since we first demoed it. Interestingly, it ended up being the last song we wrote for the EP. It’s an absolute blast to play, and we’re excited to share it with everyone”.

Vocalist, Kaan Tasan adds; “The lyrics are based around battling your own self-doubt/negative self-talk, and how we hide behind a veneer or mask just to get through the day to day. The song also addresses the pain, suffering and frustration that this self-negativity causes”.

Check out the official video for ‘Enemy Within’ here.

Alongside this achievement, the band also earned the opportunity to support established acts like Mastodon, Parkway Drive, Architects, and The Ghost Inside. The addition of Rob Powderly in 2011, further solidified the band’s lineup. Despite a promising start, Hero in Error encountered a challenging phase with member changes, leading to a hiatus from 2013 to 2016. This interlude, however, was not the end but a prelude to a resurgence. The band re-emerged with renewed vigor introducing vocalist Kaan Tasan (Heart of a Coward).

Their return was marked by the release of “Hollow Truth” in 2016, and was soon followed by the 2017 EP, “Obey”. These releases were not just a continuation, but a reinvention, showcasing a band that had matured and evolved in their sound.

HERO IN ERROR are
Robert Powerdly – Guitar
Kaan Tasan – Vocals
Gary Regan – Guitars
Jay Doyle – Bass
Stephen Reilly – Drums

SOULBOUND Release New Single + Video ‘Saint Sinner’

Soulbound present “Saint Sinner”, produced by Chris Harms (Lord Of The Lost).

The first hit from the forthcoming new studio album “obsYdian” (Metalville Records – street date July 26th) breaks boundaries in Goth-Rock/Industrial-Metal.

“Saint Sinner” navigates through dark desires, is raw, authentic – a challenge to expose oneself. A must for lovers of intense, transcendent sounds. “Show me your secrets” – not just a line, but a call into the unknown.

The official “Saint Sinner” video can be watched here:

Welcome to “obsYdian”!

With dark elegance, full of reflection and with a certain harshness, this new album represents musically content and symbolically represents Soulbound’s journey through the last years – a journey through a spectrum of intense themes. These range from the intense confrontation with the musicians own inner demons demons to socially critical observations that continue to confront them with clear clarity about the serious consequences associated with this consequences, through to deep, introspective reflections on various personal personal themes, such as the subject of parting.

‘obsYdian’ for Soulbound stands for the cathartic experiences they have had as a band, but also individually. Come along and accompany them on their musical journey. The musicians have realized that in the that confronting their own inner conflicts not only provides challenges, but can be found, but also comfort and understanding. The songs on “obsYdian” serve Soulbound like a multifaceted mirror, which, in the process of confrontation, shows us both the band’s dark sides as well as the possibilities for healing and protection – in the spirit of the protective properties that are attributed to the dark properties that the dark stone obsidian is said to have.

Soulbound see in the symbolism obsidian a perfect metaphor for their work as musicians: Dark, mysterious, reflective, protective, transformative, clear and honest, deep and strong. “obsYdian” is not just an album for them; it is an expression of their development, their way of seeing.

VESTINDIEN Reveal “Verdande” Album Details And New Single ‘Etter ilden’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on April 6, 2024
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: VESTINDIEN. Leave a comment

When you name your band after the last known brothel (now a museum) in your home town, you’d better be able to deliver something special with your music, and without a doubt VESTINDIEN do just that with their sophomore full-length album “Verdande” .

Set for release on Dark Essence Records on the 10th of May, fans had already been given a glimpse into what to expect at the end of last year, when VESTINDIEN released a freshly mixed single even before the album was fully completed.

But now, with the album ready to go, Dark Essence Records are expanding that glimpse with a brand new single titled “Etter ilden”, a track which, according to VESTINDIEN, has undergone a series of iterations before having been deemed ready:

The demo was first written and recorded in the summer of 2021 in a location where the view from our windows was of the Urd, Skuld and Verdande mountains at Bjørnøya.  It would be re-recorded several times before it finally came together as intended, at Underschön Studio in the fall of 2023.

“Etter ilden” is about taking the time to find calm and beauty in a world that is chaotic and full of suffering. We acknowledge that it is a privilege to be able to do so, whilst at the same time, we believe it is necessary to keep moving forward.

“Etter ilden” can be streamed or downloaded from a variety of sources at https://fanlink.tv/etterilden

“Verdande”  comes three years on from the release of VESTINDIEN’s debut full-length “Null”, an album that served as an introduction to the band’s unique take on old-school metal but which hinted at something dark and harsh and sinister.

The fact that it was written both in a basement in Bergen, as well as on a secluded island in the Barents Sea, gives “Verdande” a unique feel, allowing its chaotic, claustrophobic underground roots to gain a more spacious, airy feel, that no doubt comes from being written out in the open sea.

With cover art by Geir Wallem and cover design by Sondre Krum Dahl,  “Verdande” delivers eight tracks of psychedelic proto-metal with a gloomy twist, and whose song titles are in Norwegian, but whose lyrics are in English.

Track listing is as follows:

  1. Humus
  2. Evig Lys
  3. Etter ilden
  4. I en hule under berget
  5. Alt vårt
  6. Forbi stillheten
  7. Verdande
  8. Innover

“Verdande” will be released in Digital and LP formats, and is now available to pre-order from:

Webshop: https://darkessencerecords.no/shop/vestindien-verdande-black-vinyl/
Bandcamp: https://vestindien.bandcamp.com/album/verdande

VESTINDIEN, whose lineup today is comprised of Slettsnok on vocals,  guitars and synth, Fader War and Henrik Paulsen on guitars, Karl Johan Johannessen on drums, Petter Beyer on synth and Pål Eirik Veseth on bass,  was originally formed in 2009 and quickly earned itself  a well-deserved  reputation as an up-and-coming hardcore band with a heavy metal twist.

Their frenetic live shows gained the band a solid following, yet one year after the release of their 2011 EP “We are the Lords of Hellfire”, VESTINDIEN inexplicably called it a day. Their emergence several years  later saw VESTINDIEN with a more introverted, and less hardcore and aggressive, approach to their music.

Answering only to their own their own standards and expectations, VESTINDIEN’s music  today still hints at the bands hardcore roots but it has evolved into a sound that conjures up the essence of black metal, punk and old school rock’n’roll, all of which are enveloped in a dark shroud.

VESTINDIEN are confirmed to play a series of dates in the Spring.  Routing as follows:

12 April:  Blå, Oslo, Norway
13 April:  Fängelset , Gøteborg, Sweden
19 April:  Tou,  Stavanger, Norway
27 April:  T2, Ålesund, Norway
10 May:   Landmark , Bergen, Norway

More information about the band can be found on their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Vestindien/

CLEARxCUT Reveal Third Single ‘Putrefaction’ from Upcoming Album

Posted by tarjavirmakari on April 6, 2024
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: CLEARxCUT. Leave a comment

Putrefaction is the 3rd and final pre-album single  from CLEARxCUT’s forthcoming new album Age of Grief, which is set to be released on April 26th!

PUTREFACTION ON ALL STREAMING PLATFORMS

CLEARxCUT is out there to spread the message of total liberation. (Former) Members of HEAVEN SHALL BURN, IMPLORE, and KING APATHY/THRÄNENKIND started this collective, because they are dedicated to the vegan straight edge (XVX) and want to confront listeners with inconvenient thruths and todays harsh reality. The German band addresses their songs and convictions to all people who are prepared to stand up for a better, fairer future – but especially to all anarchists, anti-fascists, feminists, primitivists and indigenous peoples of the world. Or to put it brief: to all defenders of our earth. The stylistic choice of means falls on metallic hardcore, which is rooted in a strong DIY ethic.

Having released their first two albums “For The Wild At Heart Kept In Cages” (2019) and “Songs of Desire Armed” (2022) for Catalyst X Records (Gather, Nueva Ethica, Abnegation, Birthright, Maroon, Point Of No Return, Forward To Eden), “Age Of Grief” now marks CLEARxCUTs debut for LIFEFORCE RECORDS. Started in the mid-1990ies as label with mainly vegan and straight edge bands, the German Label has an impressive history with XVX bands such as ARKANGEL, DAY OF SUFFERING, RANCOR, UNCONQUERED, UNBORN, FAULT, or DEADLOCK and THRÄNENKIND/ KING APATHY. Being a collective that is outspoken in its message and keeps the vegan straight edge banner high, CLEARxCUT continue this tradition.

Also besides having switched their label, “Age Of Grief” marks a fresh start for CLEARxCUT. After a big shift in their ranks, before the global pandemic hit, the band moved from two (female) vocalists to one (male) frontman, Gabriel Dubko (former IMPLORE vocalist). This is accompanyed by a change of sound. On their third full lenght album, the German band is diving into the realms of metallic hardcore, leaving behind their early hardcore punk influences. Noone should be surprised by this move, as CLEARxCUT was conceived as a collective where members, names, or styles wouldn’t matter, but one and only the final goal of spreading a positive message in defense of animal rights and sober living. “Age Of Grief”, in this respect, is extremely consistent.

ALBUM TRACK LIST:

The Seventh Seal 4:22
Burial Shroud 3:22
Against Leviathan 3:37
Unwritten 4:50
Collecting Scars 2:46
Privilege 2:16
Putrefaction 4:08
Ghosts of the Past 2:40
The Eternal Demise 2:08
